Horrible costumer service
Never rent from these people ever! The places are discusting. Even when you try to have a maintenance guy come fix something they take weeks! It took them two weeks to come fix my toilet yes two weeks without a toilet. If you buy parking they tow your car in the winter if you are in there way of plowing no notice what do ever! I highly recommended not renting from these people they are horrible !
The apartment is nice. The hot water in the building has been out for 3 days. I have called countless times and it still has not been fixed. I had broken things in my apartment when I moved in and put a work order for those things a month ago and nothing has been fixed.
My daughter was living in b306 and the apartment itself was ok but overpriced. $1000 PER BEDROOM for a 4 bedroom apartment. The elevator consistently smelled of stale beer and urine which the staff never cleaned, literally had to hold your breath. I complained several times and promises were made but nothing was ever done. The hallways often had garbage and food in them, gross. Then when my daughter moved out they withheld some of her security deposit with no proof of damages so Im supposed to take their word for it. This place is so unprofessional and poorly run. Go anywhere but here.
Called for maintenance, went into office and put in work orders many times for two weeks. Still not fixed and unable to do certain things. I am disappointed with how the university edge office handles phone calls and will not be renting from or recommending this apartment complex to anyone in the future. Avoid if others options are available.Response to owner: I would be happy to come in and have multiple times asking when my work order would be fixed. It has been three weeks and I was told it would be done ten times already. Instead of responding on here start with responding to those who call and place work orders. Thanks.Called the office and asked when the work order would be fixed and they said “why.” I am not sure why I had to explain why I wanted my apartment fixed? Also they charge random fees and are not upfront when you agree to live there. All workers say different things and what you think you may have to pay or will be getting can be different when you talk to the next person at the office. The outside entrance door doesn’t work, the microwave doesn’t work, the apartment door doesn’t work, the laundry machine doesn’t work. The AC is not good. I am very disappointed!!
One of the worst experiences that Ive ever had and dealing with a landlord . Beware that if you sign any paperwork even if you dont pay an application fee or deposit of any kind they will still try to force you to pay for the entire year... regardless of your situation. Any reasonable organization or business would understand certain situations and there is zero flexibility with this particular company. The office manager Elizabeth Parker has zero flexibility or willingness to help customers into resolving matters in a mutual agreed-upon way. I am highly disappointed in this office manager.
Run-Down. Not in the best shape and very overpriced. The building is not clean inside or outside. With “lawn furniture”, litter and more. We’ve had rodents make their way in, including MOLES. Maintenance never fixes anything. They always say they have to come back with other tools or people, etc. Then they never come back resulting in us calling them multiple times for the same issue. And if fixing the heat in the building is giving us space heaters, GREAT WORK. There is not enough parking, and I’ve had to park somewhere else on campus and walk multiple times. Pretty bad, especially when people who do park pay a lot. Also the office tends to close before closing hours which can be super inconvenient and frustrating.
Place is aight. Staff is cool. Would recommend!
High price (only reason for 4/5 stars), but very nice apartments and excellent location with gym and campus an easy walk. If you split the apartment, the lease becomes more reasonable. Never had a problem with service - hot water heater went out 3 times, always fixed same day, smoke/fire detector went on fritz, fixed next day (went on fritz again but I did not call to fix it that time - my bad). Office staff very friendly and helpful. Apartments get rather loud from other renters, and very messy/dirty from students on the weekends, but neither is a University Edge issue. Rugs in halls/elevators/stairwells were steam cleaned over XMas break and in summers, halls and stairwells were cleaned up after weekends. Clean and touch up paint all units before fall.
THERE IS A REASON THEY HAVE 2 stars & I think they’re lucky to have that many!!!! This is the most unorganized & pass the buck business I have ever dealt with. We have called the office to get our security deposit back from LAST SUMMER! We keep getting we’ll have our manager call you. I have emailed & called and can’t get anywhere! Even if the rent is more elsewhere “TRUST ALL THE REVIEWS” it’ll be better elsewhere. They will do everything possible to avoid fixing any issues- good luck reaching the “manager(Elizabeth)” I am waiting for them to return the deposit!
The apartment was left dirty; with glue on the floors; someone stole the closet doors, the sink is old, stained and cracked, and I can go on and on and on.... Lets see how long it takes them to fix the place; It is really over-priced for what you get. Depending upon what they do (and I am concerned that it will be very little), it may be time to organize a rent strike. They worked very effectively in NYC back in the day, and it will get media and their attention. More to come
Great area to live, close to downtown and not too far from campus class buildings. Parking isnt included and sometimes can get crowded. Otherwise, its just enough for a college student and not having to pay utilities is great!
For parents looking to find living and/or any type of service for their children at this organization (parking, etc.) I strongly DO NOT recommend. After numerous adverse encounters with this company, I called the manager, and as a college student was rudely hung up on. I recommend parents look through other UNH resources, such as the Facebook UNH Mom’s page (great listing of parking locations for sale), and/or the numerous other landlords UNH has. I lived at one of the University Edge properties my junior year and did not have screens in any window, a working oven, a sanitary bathroom (shower, toilet, and floor covered in rust) and this is just to name a few. My senior year bought a parking pass through them and within the first 2 weeks, had my car towed twice because all the spots in my PAID FOR lot were full/and or taken.
Do not live here! Way too overpriced and the maintenance people are clueless. They said they would fix my door a couple of months ago, now I’m about to move out and still not fixed. Go lodges or cottages as I wish I did! The rating is very much accurate. Plus they have hot tubs and a much friendlier community. Although you are located right in the middle of town, the walk to class will take about the same time it would to hop on a bus. In retrospect, Nikeda is really cool and understanding. Hats off to her and only her.
What ever you do DO NOT rent an apartment from these people. they take advantage of college students in every way imaginable !! my daughter rented an apartment for a year and it has been a total nightmare from start to finish. UNH will be made aware of these ripoff artist !!! AGAIN DO NOT RENT FROM UNIVERSITY EDGE
Very unorganized staff. Was mislead by emails and calls to their office on when my lease started and what paperwork I had signed and what paperwork actually existed. Emailed the manager Elizabeth multiple times and got no response. Could not be more unhappy with my situation. Wish I knew how they operated before I signed my lease!
University Edge is the worst business I have ever experienced. They are extremely unorganized and rip you off for every penny you are worth. I dont even know where to begin with how moronic the people that are running this business are. They charged me for utilities that I couldnt have used because I was not even at my apartment, and the bill they provided me with from PSNH did not have enough information for me to prove that I had not used utilities. The manager said that was strange I went over my allotted utilities of $75 that month, but that I shouldnt have any problem with going over my new utility allowance of $25 per month for my upcoming lease... That makes total sense. Guess Im not using any heat this winter. They leased my apartment to another resident after I had secured my lease. I paid 500 dollars for a parking pass, and my lot is usually full anyways. I have had problems with my neighbors, reported it, and they have not done anything to alleviate the situation. Im hoping some of my hatred for this terrible business will be relieved by trying to warn others to not do business with these folks. Ive worked in customer service/service industry since I was old enough to work, and Ive never experienced such terrible service or an incompetent business as University Edge. I advise you not to do business with them.
University Edge has provided the worst living experience I have encountered as a student at UNH. I live in a one person apartment with a dysfunctional shower, sink, and oven that the office refuses to fix even during the summer when there was a significant lack of residents at all locations. They failed to notify our building complex on three separate occasions that our hot water would be shut off for 1-4 days at a time, did not let us know when they would be towing cars prior to plowing, and did not notify us when the post office stopped delivering mail to our apartments. There are plenty of other housing options at the University of New Hampshire that one should look into before choosing to live in a University Edge apartment.
I wish I could put 0 stars. The service is absolutely absurd here. Staff, specifically managers, are unresponsive and refuse to take responsibility to their poor management skills. They are strictly in this for money and couldnt give any care about their residents if they were offered a million dollars to do so. I strongly advise signing anywhere else in Durham. They may have good locations but I have never dealt with such an incapable group of people to manage property.
Highly encourage you to find another leasing company. Various problems in their properties and you have to tell them at least 5 times whats wrong before they send someone to even look at it. It is a shame that most UNH properties are managed by u edge. Almost always have to deal with student employees who (no offense) could care less about your problems and if they get solved. Horrific management issues
So far everything about University Edge is really convenient. Except that they charge a lot for parking, it should definitely be included, rent is already high enough!
Terrible service, good luck getting a work order done on time. Also, watch your payments! Or they tend to get muddled and lost...
Great place to live, good location, highly recommend.
My roommate and I found Univ. Edge on Facebook and saw that they had an apartment open over the summer. The apartment we currently live in is an old complex, but its really nice just to have your own space. The people who work for Univ. Edge have done a really nice job in answering all of our questions and were patient with my roommate and I when we were working on signing the lease. Although it sucks that you have to pay overages (mostly in the fall/winter, even though theres a cap), I have researched other realtors in the area and their rent is higher than that of Univ. Edge with utilities NOT even included. I wouldnt say Univ. Edge offers the best of prices, but then again, all the complexes around Durham are extremely pricey. I would recommend Univ. Edge to people, though! I am living through this agency next year, as well!
Honestly I have been blown away by how this place has managed to make my life worse with every interaction for an entire year!!Like, you would think that eventually, its same old same old, or some standard amount of terrible. But no, here, it actually just keeps getting worse! Amazing!Currently were in the middle of going two weeks without being able to do laundry! Fun! Highly recommend living here if you love mold, dirt, broken glass, regularly having your water turned off, and being over charged for an apartment so small it can barely be called an aprartnent. Enjoy!
Its extremely impressive how terrible the customer service here is.
University Edge has the most convenient locations with the most parking options in all of Durham, they have the best staff too. Senior year is going to be great living on the Edge!
Absolutely the slummiest place a person could live at UNH! Not only are almost all of UE’s buildings extremely underkempt, the leasing company itself is full of a bunch of kids who have no idea what they’re doing, and their idea of doing business is scamming young kids into being trapped in an agreement to live in a disgusting slum.My friend and I set out to lease an apartment with this company in late 2016. We were very excited, and signed leases that, to our understanding, meant that we would be paying $742 total to live together in a two bedroom. We later found on move-in that we could actually end up needing to pay thheatat amount each! That’s $1,484 for a place that comfortably fit two people, didn’t include parking (which was an additional $600, and even then a spot in the lot outside your building was not guaranteed! I ended up having to park my car over a mile away from the building I was living in!), WiFi,, hot water, electric, nothing. When we asked if we could actually not live there and just take back our deposit (we hadn’t even gotten keys or moved in to the unit), they told us that we would have to find someone to sublet it from us because we had already signed a lease.I lived at 9 Woodman Road, and I cannot convey how terribly that building was infested by the time spring hit, because the doors and windows were constantly kept open by other inconsiderate people that lived there. There were moths and other giant creepy crawlies that would find their way into my unit. The building was in condemnable condition by the time I was finally freed from my lease with this awful company.I can’t believe this organization is still in business, and I highly recommend that you look somewhere else if you’re trying to live off-campus at UNH.
The worst rental company ever! Dont care about anything other then making a buck. Son went with out a working bathroom for over a week and could not even get a response from them until I, the parent, called. The apartment grounds are in deplorable condition, broken glass...etc...The apartment inside is also in terrible condition, mold in bathroom, kitchen cabinet and countertops falling apart, holes in walls, etc.....I could go on. Worst experience ever! They have a monopoly of rentals for college students and as a result answer to no one. I had to give a one star, but there should be a opinion of giving no star.
Price and location was what encouraged me to sign my lease. It was close to campus and downtown. The quality and size of the apartment was also exactly what I was looking for.It is expensive to park your car, but parking is limited near campus so it is understandable. The biggest problem I have had with University Edge is their lack of communication within the office. I had to complain about a broken window three times before it ever even made it into their computer system. I also had a problem with an alarm when the office was not open and ended up calling the emergency maintenance number. No one answered the call and the alarm went off for about eight hours during finals week one night. This was unacceptable.
University edge is a terrible apartment complex. They charge ridiculous amount for a parking pass even if you’re only there for the summer their apartments are overpriced and really crappy quality. They have a contract with a towing company so if any of your friends or family visit they will circle the parking lot and if they see any car that does not have a sticker on it they will instantly toilet and you’ll have to pay $170 to get it back. Would not suggest living here to anyone I know. This place is a scam for money they do not care about the life of the college students that live there whatsoever.
Security guard threatened to hit me with her car after a friend and I walked through a University Edge parking lot. Im not making this up. She was probably having a bad day, but that is completely unprofessional.
Great apartment locations and has nice hours for the office
Parents of commencing seniors need to be aware that they will be paying full price for the month while senior students will need to vacate at commencement or shortly after. Rent is not pro-rated and you will be losing a week and a half of rent payment as commencement is May 21st.
Poor service, especially when problems occur in an apartment requiring service. Poor response to residents complaints, and they will retain a significant portion of your damage deposit. $30 was retained from my deposit because of 5 small items left in the bathroom vanity under the sink. They also charged for cleaning and painting, despite the fact that the apartment was a dump when it was rented. Do not rent from this company, if possible. If you do, then take pictures of the apartment before you move in so that you have proof of the condition of the unit. Also, expect long waits (days, in some cases) to repair things like leaking pipes and fire alarms that wont stop.
University Edge dont respect the students, they dont care about students. They charge us downtown city prices and give us crappy units in a rural university town. They have horrible out dated units with no renovation what so ever. Cant even describe the bathrooms, rusty sinks, cracked showers, leaking pipes... Management is made from the most incapable people teamed up to milk the money of innocent students. I hope the children of University Edges staff will deal with the same type of landlords at their universities in the future.
Moldy, rusty, run-down, bug-infested apartments with plumbing that occasionally leaves you with puddles of sewage bubbling up into your sink. Clueless and incompetent student employees, managed by apparently non-existent management. Hours not listed on site. They will refuse to fix basic problems with your apartment, run out of and refuse to make up parking passes when there are hundreds of open spots available, and advise you to park in illegal places which you will then get towed from. If you have ever wondered what housing management run by children would look like, look no further.EDIT: Over two years after moving out, after not hearing a word from them, we received a collection notice for a $230 repainting charge that they agreed to drop when we moved out over two years ago. It is unclear whether this is due to an honest lack of organization on their part or is a fully-fledged extortion attempt—based on our past experience with University Edge, it really could be either. Their phone lines are only manned by a young student on-campus who flat-out refused to forward the issue to a manager or administrator, so we have contacted our attorney as it looks like legal action will be necessary to correct this. I pray this vile, slimy, law-evading, lying, cheating, student-exploiting cesspool of a company is forced to close its bug-infested doors sooner rather than later.
They dont fix things
Because its economical, and give u a different perspective of off campus living
Clearly all University Edge apartments are the same! I live in SouthBend IN, in a new two bedroom and Im paying $940 for the most horrible living arrangements. The staff and the managers are incompetent and dont care about their residents. I hope to God this business fails. They over charge for everything and they give you terrible hard fake mattresses to sleep on when you pay for furnishing.
Very poor experience. Terrible service, apathetic employees. Very expensive. Poor quality apartments with very many maintenance issues that are never taken care of. I had a wasp infestation for over a month and I had to stick it out and they gave me zero compensation despite my health and safety being at risk. They try to make it impossible to get out of your lease. One of the biggest regrets of my life, Im glad I left.
Very disorganized & poorly run rental management company that ignores problems then tries to stick the student renters with penalties & fees. Do NOT rent from this company if you can possibly avoid it!
Worst service in a America this place honestly won’t help you at all they need to get it together or they won’t be here that much longer.
0 star. Disgusting service. Disgusting company
ABSOLUTE SCUM. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. THEY DEDUCTED $225 FROM SECURITY DEPOSIT FOR FULL PAINT. ALL DAMAGES REPORTED AND NO DAMAGES MADE.
You get what you pay for I guess... Actually you have to pay for more than you get.
Over priced and run down
I like turtles.
