Great community and beautiful apartments. The office staff and maintenance staff are for the most part responsive and helpful. I love the dog parks. Easy to navigate parking, packages (when it works right), and mail. Nice pool and gym. But the actual apartments are very nice. - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings
So far so good. I enjoy it. There are multiple amenities. The office staff was easy to work with. Maintenance requests have been handled expeditiously. I love it. I would easily recommend this complex to someone. I love that its also very quiet.
I think the Google reviews say it all. Do yourself a favor and pick another place or take this one off your list of options. I could compose War & Peace on whats wrong with this place but the 30 other reviews pretty much sum it up. There are a lot of other options in the area that arent run by inept management companies. Its really interesting how the office staff can almost instantly respond to a Google review while ignoring a voicemail to renew my lease for almost a week until I followed up. In addition to that, basically calling me a liar because the office staff, which is a constant revolving door, would not have said what they did. provides great insight into why this place has such poor reviews.
Hercules Living is one of the worst apartment management companies I have ever experienced. I moved into the Lodge when the complex first opened and it was managed by Bell. Bell was great. They were very attentive to the residents and pleasant to talk to. Once Hercules took over, everything went downhill fast. Front office people were incredibly rude and dismissive. They absolutely refuse to do anything above the bare minimum for the residents. For example, upon move out I incurred a cleaning fee. I asked what this fee was for and received no response. I called the office multiple times and left voicemails and sent about five emails asking for clarification over the last few weeks. I tried to get a response before I had to pay my last bill. Since I received no response, I just paid the bill and decided to write this review to warn other renters of my experience here. Dont even get me started on the issues with Parcel Pending (a service that does not work, residents still have to pay for, and when anyone complains we are told to contact the package carrier and that it is not the apartment complexs issue) and the trash area (always overflowing). DO NOT LIVE HERE. It is not worth the money or the headache. I would not recommend living here or any other place managed by Hercules Living.
I recently moved to this community and I love it!! Quiet and the staff is extremely helpful! The manager Brittany got me squared away quicker than I imagined.
So glad I found this complex! I got a new job and needed to move quickly. I wasnt thinking and drove over after filling out some paperwork and learned I needed an appointment (makes sense with COVID). The manager was heading to her car but took the time to give me a tour and walk me through the process. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Disgusting. You couldn’t pay me to step foot in there ever again.
Overall disappointed the amenities stayed closed all summer long, but we received no cut in rent. We are also charged a fee just for using out electricity plus an additional light bill (I understand that); however that fee for using the electricity is ridiculous. I hope we are not paying all this money for the staff, they seem very hard to get in contact with when you have any issues; and when you do get in contact with them, they act like you are bothering them.
We moved into The Lodge at Croasdaile, our first apartment, almost 2 months ago. We are very happy with our decision to move here. The complex is very pet friendly. My kids always have entertainment with the gym, pool room, and staff. We are excited about warmer weather to enjoy the pool. The staff is fantastic and have made moving/adjusting seamless. They are always friendly and host social events to include the community. We love it here.
Hope this helps future tenants to decide. They are beautiful apartments. There’s an excellent pool table room and outdoor area which only allows 15 people though. So no big gatherings. However bathroom use for friends outdoors or in clubhouse areas is hard to come by because of very long walks or locking of doors Inside of clubhouse.( never understood what that is about). I lived at the Lodge a year and a half, and overall enjoyed property. The bridge and ping pong table is absolutely adorable. I loved the amenities and that it is a smoke free community. Starbucks machine is handy when in a rush. Sometimes afraid to drink it however because of it being unlocked and anyone can touch or change what is inside. Community overall has friendly feel. These apartments do have a little more of the safe feeling in Durham- it’s tucked away. The location is good, not far from the highway. However, my car was stolen soon after moving in right in front of my building. Durham police told me there was 1 more car stolen at our apartments the same night. onsite officer is not within site. Officers recovered on S. Miami. I was so happy the front office was so good to me to provide pictures of the theft from front clubhouse entrance. After that, I personally had no more similar problems and still feel very safe walking around area. Things are starting slowly to break down, ice machine... With out the free month deal, their price point is a little high for the things you still deal with here. Few cheaper finishes. Cabinets pealing away because of not being real wood. Nothing you can do to control it. Flat paint on walls so very hard to wipe. Things are starting slowly to break down, ice machines... They do need to clean outdoor areas and grills once in a while. I love dogs and have one but even I can’t appreciate how close the poop cans are to apartment and activity areas. Hope management encourages people to walk dogs away from living areas by moving the collection cans. Like some other reviews, we did have a huge problem with electric kicking breakers off around the whole apartment. I was very afraid of it becoming a fire hazard because of it happening so much. I really appreciated how nice the maintenance guys are- Daniel used to be awesome! The walls are very thin- I can hear whispers not trying to, and it does sound like boulders crashing down upstairs. No idea if they were just walking or wrestling all the time! I know management has changed, so I hope things do not change that much. I overall have really enjoyed living here. It is beautiful, with just a few corks. A good balance of pros and cons at these apartments.
Do they ever clean up the trash area? It’s so nasty 🤢I have photos if anyone wants to see.
Ive enjoyed living here for the past month. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful. I cant wait until it gets a little cooler out so I can take advantage of my screened in porch. The only thing I would change is the lack of a closer bus stop. The bus goes right by. Not really the properties fault but maybe someone could lobby for one? Its such a great place to live!
This place has terrible management. The manager doesn’t know to handle her problems very well.
My experience has been nothing but positive so far at the Lodge at Croasdaile. The office staff made the move as painless as possible. Everyone I have come in contact with has been pleasant and helpful with addressing any concerns I may have had. During the severe weather that we had as result of the hurricane they were in contact with residents thru email to keep us all posted of any changes. I feel very safe and secure on the premises and hope to continue to call it home for a good while to come. Keep.up the good work!
*Edit 2020* : This was once one of the nicest apartments to live in. When brought out by new management took a turn for the worst. No one answers the phone and management are unresponsive and incompetent at their jobs. The apartments are extremely noisy and were visibly poorly made. Maintenance tries to fix the issues but the apartments are falling apart under the new management. Apartment manager Brittany is unaccommodating and does little to actually address tenant complaints. In the end, because of an error made on their end regarding my lease renewal I was able to leave this property/nightmare (thank goodness)!!
We just had the most unpleasant experience with an office attendant named Juliette Stone. The leasing office had called my roommate telling her she had an unmarked package in their office. She had been waiting on two packages. She was told by UPS that the first package was stored in a locker in the package room but a code was not generated for her to retrieve it. When my roommate came to the office to pick up her package, Juliette acted as if she had no idea what my roommate was talking about and told her the package was probably on the floor of the locker room. As she was leaving to inspect the locker room, Juliette stopped her and and handed her one of the packages before telling her that, Usually AMERICANS say when they were contacted. For reference, my roommate is Vietnamese but born in the states. I fail to understand how that is even relevant to the issue at hand and am forced to question the type of training that Juliette has gone through in order to be so curt to a paying resident. After inspecting the package room and informing her that the other parcel is still missing, Juliette tells my roommate to inspect the cracks between the lockers and if its not there then they cannot help us. Really? A leasing office cant help one of its residents?Might I add that this a completely separate conflict from our continuous complaints of our power breakers constantly flipping in the middle of the night. Several maintenance men have tried to help but it is clearly an issue for an ELECTRICIAN. Emails to the leasing office about this have yet to be answered. The property is nice and affordable but dont expect any serious help from the leasing office.Update Aug. 2021I’m in my second unit in this complex and I am pretty satisfied. The leasing assistant from my earlier review is long gone and every interaction with the current staff has been great. Brittany is a terrific manager and has been completely accommodating to my needs. My only complaint is that since COVID, there have been more and more piles of dog droppings throughout the lawns but that’s really more on the irresponsible owners. I’m not sure if the “Poo Prints” regulation is still in effect but it’d be really useful if it was in order to encourage people to pick up after their pets. Other than that, I enjoy the community! Neighbors are great and people here actually use the clubhouse which is not something I can say for the other complexes I’ve lived in. That’s a testament to how great an amenity it actually is.
Please have the trash area removed, it looks very nasty and makes the area look trashy.
A great community! Neighbors are friendly.
We have enjoyed our time here over the last month. The staff is very friendly and amenities are very nice. This is a dog/animal friendly community.
Toured the property yesterday!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Staff was great, property was beautiful, and so convenient to grocery shopping, hospital, doctors and more! Thank you for your hospitality!
One of the aspects I love at Croasdaile Farm is the superior customer service by Ashley and her entire sales staff!
Not the best place, nor is it manager by the best people.
First major complaint, the construction from this property messed up the roads so badly they had to redo them. Second major complaint, the redone roads are poorly painted and the road turns far too sharplyfor cars to stay in the narrowly painted lanes. Most importantly, Croasdaile keeps expanding their properties closer and closer towards the Eno state park, chopping down what little forest remains around the area. This has been pushing deer herds into the area neighborhoods and roads because they no longer have forest to live in. Im sure the property is lovely, though the deer and traffic pattern disruptions from construction are not.
Thank you turbohaul for removing all that trash!!!!!!!
RUN!!
I moved in a year ago and it was the worst choice I ever made. Never move here! It looks all cute but everything falls apart! I was never able to use the pool or the gym because they are not able to invest a penny in care for the people who live here. WASTE A LOT OF SILVER. 1700 every month that is not worth the place. Do not be fooled! THEY ARE ALL A DISASTER
