Well located complex with very helpful and friendly leasing agent on-site. Apartments are nice and affordable, grounds are kept up well.
I just moved in, the place is well kept and the people are very enjoyable thus far!
Leisha was the epitome of what an apartment manager should be. She was very courteous and very professional. I have tremendous respect for her abilities and the fact that she treated me, a Deaf man with the ultimate courtesy and helped me to understand things. I wish more people would follow her example and be at one with everything. The apartment itself was very clean and the maintenance of it was beyond the scope of what most apartments would experience. I would recommend it absolutely.
Lived here for two years in a one-bedroom unit.THE GOOD: Location means so much in real estate, and it would be tough to place an apartment in a better location than Clintonville Commons. Youre less than a mile from two different grocery stores, within easy walking distance of Whetstone Park and several restaurants, and surrounded by a great (and expensive) neighborhood. It’s not often you hear glowing praise about a landlord, either, but the management is excellent; Leisha does a great job in the front office. The apartments are pretty old, but well-maintained; you will have to call maintenance from time to time, but they respond quickly and do a good job. Ground floor units have super cheap utilities. They also have terrible cell phone reception, but you can enable WiFi calling on your phone to get around that. You also get a gas stove, which few other places in town can offer.THE BAD: The apartments are TINY. This is ultimately why I moved out; working from home in the Covid age necessitated more elbow room than this complex could offer. The kitchen is cramped, and there is scant storage space. The wall air conditioner in the living room is noisy and only sort of cools the bedroom; your bath towel will never dry in the summer. The laundry room accepts cards in addition to coins, but the readers are constantly malfunctioning.THE VERDICT: If all youre really looking for is a place to hang your hat and get a good nights sleep, Clintonville Commons should definitely be on your list. You may find you outgrow it someday, as I did, but its an excellent starter apartment.
My aunt lives here. She loves it. Very safe and tight nit community.
Leisha is awesome! First time moving to my own apartment and she is a super informative and helpful and friendly community manager. Answered all my questions and made the whole process a breeze! I definitely recommend this property.
You can tell they keep up on their property.
Cheap and location is good, although the build quality seems rather poor.
The best thing about the apartment is the location. Very safe. Never had an issue with stolen packages or people breaking into my car. Can walk to restaurants and shops. 15-20 minute ride to downtown in the morning rush hour. They offer off-street parking for residents, but there are only 6 guest spots for all 120 apartments to share.Inside of buildings arent terrible, but the hallways are not kept clean or vacuumed. They often smell bad. Light fixtures are dirty. Dead bugs. Sometimes embarrassing to have guests over. If just a little more effort was put into making the hallways look nicer it would make a huge difference.Apartments are tiny. Unless you get a corner unit, you will only have windows in your bedroom(s). Apartments get very hot in the summer as each unit only has one window AC unit. You will need to leave the AC on constantly and even with additional fans the apartments can be unbearable. Not to mention the insane electric bills. Mine went from $20 in the winter to $160 in the summer months. And even then, my apartment was not a comfortable temperature. Good luck keeping your apartment below 80 degrees in the summer. The heat setup for some of the apartments is weird, too. Instead of just a thermostat, you have a manual furnace and blower switch that need to be turned on. This means you can’t just set your thermostat and go, you need to manually turn the blower and furnace on and off each and every time you use your heat. This prevents you from just leaving your heat on overnight or when you go out of town. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. To be fair, you’ll only need to turn the heat on for like 2 months out of the year. Again, these apartments stay ridiculously warm. The walls here are quite thin. You can hear your neighbors talking, opening cabinets, taking showers, and turning on their bathroom exhaust fans. So if your neighbors (like mine) enjoy having loud guests or practicing guitar, expect to be able to hear them constantly. You can also hear when anyone walks in the hallways because the floor shakes loudly. Some of this is just part of living in an apartment complex, but the sounds do amplify more than usual in these buildings. If you value a quiet environment, this place isn’t for you.The complex has just two employees, neither of which live on site. Both Leisha and Greg are nice people, but I think they are overwhelmed. The two of them are doing everything for the three buildings. Maintenance requests can take anywhere from two days to over a month to be completed, and usually require you to follow-up several times. It can be very frustrating to have to wait weeks and weeks for the simplest maintenance request to be done. The washer and dryers in the buildings are terrible. So many times the card readers are broken or not working properly. This is especially frustrating when you just finished a wash, but you can’t dry your clothes because none of the dryers are working or accepting money. When they do work, they often double charge you. This was an issue the whole time I lived here, despite several complaints made to management, as well as the washer/dryer company from myself and several of my neighbors. No one cared. It was never solved.Overall, this isn’t an awful place to live, but with a little effort you can find a much better option in Clintonville for the same price or better. With all the new luxury apartments being built in the area, they will need to either drastically lower their prices or step up their game. For the heat in the summers alone, I’d definitely swipe left on Clintonville Commons.
Im surprised there arent any reviews on Google, so Im going to go ahead and give an honest yet humble one for the Commons.I moved in here 2 1/2 years ago after my life had a very positive turnaround. Shannon was originally the manager here and she was absolutely fantastic. Sweet, earnest, and always had the door open, she was willing to help anyone. The Commons have gone through a few management changes and currently everythings pretty good. Our last guy was terrible and its been refreshing. We have the BEST maintenance, particularly for a bustling facility. Im still baffled one man can do it all. However, Ive only had two - count them two - issues requiring maintenance and both were clogs. Nothing terrible although I couldnt resolve them myself. Small quarters are going to have these problems inevitably.I never hear anyone to the sides of my apartment. I live semi-underground, so my bills are insanely cheap. its truly an efficiency: I paid 40 bucks every month for gas and the radiator takes very little electricity. My electric bill has never been over 25 bucks in the efficiency. Being semi-under also meant I used my air conditioner a matter of maybe 3-4 days in the summer. I do hear people higher than me using their more often, however. The radiator does clang and theres nothing to be done about that. However, it slowly became comforting? It was the signal the heat was coming. The location is great, everyones pretty nice or quiet, and at worst you will hear people above you. Luckily I havent had more than little bits here and there, but this last tenant at first sounded like a flat-footed sumo wrestler playing DDR. Its been a lot better, though. My packages were never stolen and I never had a car break in. These things CAN happen, but you will have this pretty much anywhere. Theres a bit of guest parking and the side streets dont enforce permit parking at this time.Live here if you can stand small spaces and especially if you can get a bottom-floor apartment and would like it. Its worth it. The price has gone up since I moved in, but my rent only increased by 10 bucks a year. Thats incredible. Again, you cant have the guarantee it will remain that way, but since I was a good tenant Im pretty sure it didnt hurt. Thanks, Clintonville Commons. You made my transition back to Columbus that much better.
I am visiting my friend who lives here. If you are a person who doesnt like to hear your neighbors, or you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. Its very noisy...you constantly hear people talking, you hear every footstep of people walking down the hall, you can hear people moving around in their apartments, doors shutting, music playing, etc. Its very, very noisy.
