I highly recommend Petes Auto for your car needs. They are upfront with the work that needs to be done and is upfront with cost and warranties. The team is very professional and efficient. Another thing I love about them is how they educate on how to take car of your car. I drive a lot and have to take maintenance very serious. I go and ask if Pete is able to fix my door and once looked at he said it can be fixed in the same day and that he could do the simple few hour job(same day service) Than he calls and said I cant fix it at all and come pick it up now. Really unprofessional, he yells over a person and when he does not want to talk anymore he just hangs up on you. I highly recommend you go to anyone else besides Petes auto service.Update: I go to pick up my car from the dishonest men named Pete and Eddie and because Pete didnt like my honest review he tries to hold my car hostage. He practically tells me if I dont remove my honest review he cant give me back my car ( that he did no work on), it was not until I threaten to call the police he decided to give me back my car. If I didnt say I was going to call the police he was going to try to argue with me until I was forced to remove my honest review. Once again go to anyone but Pete auto, its bad business to tell someone you can do something and then in the same day so no never mind I cant come get your car now and just hang up.

I was referred to this place by my uncle, and immediately fell in love with the remarkable services and professionalism Pete’s Auto provided. I brought my 2006 LTZ 3.9L Chevy impala in to be checked and inspected because another shop l previously took it to jacked me all the way up with the power steering system and alignment repair. Pete very carefully explained the repair, the procedure, cost, and even explain the pros and cons of each mechanical part l need to have the repair. Also explained in depth why l needed the procedure done. Cost of my repair was very reasonable as well as he made me feel as if he care about my car just as much as l did. Repairs were done in a orderly and timely fashion and l very satisfied with the work. Would recommend them to anyone who cares about there car and want to get the maximum life span out your car.

Im not sure what happened to my review from July 10th but Im rewriting this for all customers but especially women. These people try to use charm to cover up for them not completing the work on time and correctly. Ive had to take my car back up here after them stating that it was repaired several times. Beware of this place, they lie all the time and its not worth the hassle to have your car looked at by this place.

-It has been about a month since my appointment with Pete’s and my car has been running better than it ever has!-I called in after a failed emissions test ready to give up and settle for buying a new car; every other place I tried gave me estimates between $2000-3000 for my repairs, which was almost more than the car was originally worth, and they seemed to be more interested in how much money they could drag out of me than helping me.-Not only did the mechanics at Pete’s explain my car’s problems in a way that just about anyone could understand, but they assured me that they would only be aiming to fix what they felt was immediately necessary for my emissions test.-When they say “You’re GOING to pass if you leave your car with us,” they mean it.

Pete and his crew helped me out tremendously with both of my vehicles breaking down within a week apart. Might I add that when my second vehicle broke down he loaned me one of his work vehicles free of charge.Very professional and generous and Clean. Best repair shop I’ve ever been too. TBE 😀

I recently purchased a used car and took it to Pete for an inspection. He was very efficient at getting me in and out quickly despite it being a busy time of month for emissions repairs. After completing the inspection, Pete walked me through the results and even had my fluids topped off! Aside from being knowledgeable and beyond organized, Pete is extremely personable and easy to talk to as someone who doesn’t know much about cars.

Petes Auto Service was very professional and helpful in explaining why my 2010 Elantra had emissions problems which they fixed so I coiuld pass my test. They did not try to convince me to have more expensive work done since it is an old car with over 220K miles. They even took my car to the emissions testing station ! Price was great too!

An important thing about this place is that they stand by the work they do. If the problem isnt fixed, you can bring your car back at no additional charge. I also love the service. I highly recommend Pete’s auto service, Pete is a trusted and honest mechanic, which is very hard to find now a days!I explained to him that my 09 Chevy Malibu wasn’t passing the emission’s test. After taking a look at it, he right away found the problem. Prior to taking my car to Pete’s, I had taken it to 2 other shop’s and it had been “fixed” by two other mechanics (who charged an arm and a leg), and still the issue continued.Pete explained how the throttle body works and why it was giving me a problem and he also told me that Malibu’s are very tricky (if you have an 09 Malibu you know he’s right lol). He proceeded to fix the problem, and he gained a loyal customer here!

Based off the decent reviews, they lead me to this place. I initially set an appointment over the phone with Pete but once I came in I was told a different price by another employee. Luckily, I mentioned I talked on the phone with Pete prior & the employee quickly told me that w/e I was told on the phone by Pete ....that’s what the price is gonna be. He was absolutely right! Pete was a man of his word throughout our whole interaction. Once he took a look at my car & diagnosed everything the price was pretty high but the amount of work that had to be done made it understandable. Very professional & knowledgeable staff! Took my car in for an oil change and routine check-up. Received exceptional service and was able to be in and out in a timely manner. They inspected my Infiniti and didnt attempt to up-sell like the dealership would. They did however let me know about my brake vibration and why my steering wheel shakes when I apply the brakes. They also gave me a reasonably priced quote with parts and labor. Ill definitely be coming back for that service. Highly recommend!!

Had a emissions problem on my 2014 Camaro SS and could not pass the emissions test. Took it here and these guys helped me out big time. I treat my car like its another one of my kids and they understood that. They helped me get the problem resolved and did it for free even when I offered to pay them he refused. The best mechanic ever

I am a customer of Pete’s Auto Service for life….let me tell you why, my car failed the emission test a couple of weeks ago and I had no idea what my next steps would be, I had considered taking my car to my previous auto technician, who is excellent, however he could not guarantee passing results.At this point, I was even considering selling my car and utilizing ride share service through the fall/winter seasons. After losing much sleep I decided to go on the Illinois Air Team Vehicle Emissions website to search for an auto emission technician. On this site is where I found Pete’s Auto Service. I arrived to the shop and Pete was able to print my failed emission sheet and he explained to me in detail the meaning of the diagnostics and the next steps, once the problem was determined and repaired my car was then taken to the test site YES THEY EVEN TOOK THE CAR TO THE TESTING SITE and guess what MY CAR PASSED THE TEST!! Thank you Pete’s Auto I am a customer for life.

I came here to have an issue with my vehicle overheating fixed and was told I would need my entire engine replaced for $2,500+. So, I did. My car was still overheating a few days later and several more times after that, so I brought the car back to their shop at least 4-5 times and the issue still was not resolved. They are every nice people to work with but I live on the other side of town (almost 1hr away away) so the commute back and forth plus the cost of car rentals and Lyft drivers just to have the same problem arise again was not worth my time anymore. I found a local mechanic and had the issue resolved immediately. Maybe I just had bad luck this time but they seem like a pretty good local shop. I just feel like I wasted a lot of money by continuing to drive there as well as paying for an engine repair with the hope that my car would be fixed for good.

I had to take my car to Petes for an emission test repair. Not only the service outstanding. They were willing to fight with my cars stubborn computer systems in order to make sure my car passed the test. I definitely will be recommending Petes for any car care Ill be bringing my car back for future repairs.

I googled places in my neighborhood to help me find the problem of why my engine light was on and get it fix to pass my emissions test and I went to Denny’s auto service up the street he hopped me out of my money by kept resetting my codes and charging $40 each time I came back with the engine light on instead of really searching for the problem. So I googled the next shop that says that they specialize in passing emissions which was Pete’s located on 78th and Kedzie and they located the problem the same day fixed it the next day and passed my emissions right there on the spot. Received my certificate in my hand and saved me time going to the emissions service located in Bedford Park!
