Very thorough in their analysis. Corrected/identified a number of past mistakes another shop made. Fixed some tricky EVAP issues. Fair labor rate and very communicative.

Ive been coming to this place ever since it was Bucktown Auto. They were good then and theyre still good now. As long as youre not a complete car oaf and you can somewhat describe your issue, theyll fix it. Theyve been nothing but nice to me and theyve fixed all my issue (brakes pads and rotors, A/C) really fast. Most reliable mechanic in the city.

A screw punctured my tire nearby and I was rolling along on a flat trying to find somewhere safe to park when we saw Budget Auto. It was just after they closed but someone was still there working on a car so we pulled in and asked for help. The guy stopped what he was working on and came over to check out my tire. He found the puncture and very quickly patched it, refilled the tire, and put it back on my car. He absolutely saved us from needing to call a very expensive emergency roadside tire repair service, and took less than 15 minutes from the time we rolled in to the time we left. He even told us no charge since it was such a quick fix for him, but of course we insisted on giving him something for the trouble. Very grateful the puncture happened right next to a place so willing to stop their work and help us out after hours, and it was so quick that it barely even affected our night. Would definitely come back here next time I have car troubles.

This is the only car repair place I will come to the city!! I used to go to the local dealership but they always cost extra $$$ and found extra unnecessary repairs. I came to Buran and Guner and they truly went above and beyond to explain everything that was going on with my car and fixed it the first time at a very reasonable price. This is a local family owned repair shop that knows exactly what they are doing and trust me they will take care of you!!

I wish I could give this place a higher review, but they fumbled the job repeatedly with my car.My first visit went well, they replaced a bearing for a reasonable price.My second visit, they insisted on replacing the breaks. (Ive since had to take my car to a second shop to repair the shoddy work that was done–the brand new brakes were squeaking.)My third visit, I asked them to take a look at my clutch/master/slave, as the clutch had been intermittently spongey. Despite my insistence, they said nothing was wrong. (I ended up stranded on a road trip because of this.)My fourth visit, I asked them to do the follow-up work from the clutch issue, and bleed the slave cylinder. They said that wasnt the problem, and insisted the clutch needed to be replaced (an $1800 job). I went to another shop that did the work that was requested for $50. It _was_ the problem, and I havent had an issue since.The guys in the shop are nice, but they personally cost me far too much money, stress, and time to recommend their work.

My car had so many problems and i was having problems all the time. My car is hybrid engine and that was a lot of problems with the battery. After searching a few mechanics, they were able to fix problems. Their prices is fair and i was happy with the job they have done. Good thing i like about them, They were not just trying to sell parts or put a lot of hours for labor. They figured out the problem and they were good what they did. I recommend them. Went here to swap the wheels on my car. One bolt had seized. They went out of their way and got everything resolved. As far as for the other reviews being negative, people expect to go in for an oil change and get back a new car. Wheels turning black from brake pads? Thats because you were being cheap and didnt pay for dustless pads. I, personally, would take my car there again.

Ive had a lot of work done on my truck here, and theyve always provided first rate repairs and customer service.A reliable mechanic is hard to find, but I highly recommend these guys.

These guys are very nice and reliable, they’ve helped me out twice with small things once saving me $200 from a dealership quote and another time helping me for free. They’ve even came and looked at my car parked a few blocks away to save me needing towed such a short distance - really above and beyond help at a great value price. Would always 110% recommend.

I had my catalytic converter stolen off my car and they were super helpful in getting it replaced. They also they recommended getting my brake pads replaced as they were super thin (they were and I was just putting it off) and they quickly replaced those as well and got the car back to me. Highly recommend and plan on returning for all of my other car needs, including getting my back window resealed next weekend.

Went to Budget Auto Repair to get a check engine light fixed. They gave me a free diagnosis and procured + switched out the spark plugs and ignition coil all in one day. Not to mention the price for parts + labor was lower than the estimate that AutoZone gave me for the parts alone. They also followed up quickly after with phone calls. Best repair place in Chicago

Terrible experience! Went in for a windshield wiper fix. Went to pick up my car and the materials of my glove compartment were all over the place and my car manual was missing. I went back in to ask for the manual back. I got back into my car and the windshield wiper wasnt working. This is after two days. They asked to keep the car for another day. Took them two more days to fix the car. Over the course of this, they never called me to update me on my status. I had to call them to figure out what was going on. They said they would do an oil change because of the inconvenience but didnt do it. I finally got my car back and less then two weeks later the windshield wipers stop working again. I took it to another mechanic who said the windshield wipers were screwed on incorrectly and that the repair to the windshield motor was also done improperly. I took my car back to Bucktown Auto and the manager scoffed at me and asked me where I had taken the car and questioned me as to how I could know what was wrong when he was the one who worked on the car. They took another two days to do the repair. Once again, I had to call them to get updates on my car. They said they would only refund $50 to the charge and offered to do an oil change (which they had already offered two weeks prior but not done). When my fiancee went in, he was able to get a larger refund. We will definitely not be going back!

My experience here has been completely positive. Ive only been here for some routine maintenance and 2 moderate repairs. The guys here are all easy going, honest, and fair. They also have a smaller lot but have been accommodating when we havent been able to pickup our vehicle day of. Definitely keep them in mind when considering who to go with for auto work.

Do not go to this auto repair shop. This place is an absolute scam. I went to bring my car in to see why the check engine light was on they told me I had a gas leak and there would be no way I would pass the emissions test. I called my mechanic which is far away to see what the price would be to get the work done and they quoted me less than half the price. I left without getting any work done, but went back the next day to look for my center cap that was missing on the tire that they removed. The man said they do not know where it was, or if they have it and that he will call me once he gets one from the junk yard that week. Big surprise here... he never called. I got over that because I have an older car anyway brought my car to my mechanic that was a bit farther and out of the way to get this so called gas leak. Turns out I never had a gas leak I needed a new gas cap because it kept coming loose. Oh, and I brought my car in that next week passing the emissions test with flying colors. So happy I did not trust these guys they are total scumbags.

My battery died after the Chicago winter vortex and these guys quickly towed my car and replaced the battery within 24 hours. They are friendly, fair, and provide really great service. I’m switching over to use them for all my car needs!

I really like the service provided at Bucktown Auto Repair. I experienced trouble with my cars power. The guys took a proper assessment of my vehicle and determined it was only a need to replace my timing belt. I took my vehicle back to them recently to have my rear brakes serviced. Once again, awesome and quick service at such a reasonable cost.

I had my alternator replaced in may 2019 amd today my battery light turned on and AutoZone said it was my alternator. Is it possible to go bad that fast or maybe it was not properly installed? I payed 300 plusI just bought a brand new battery 2 months ago so it cant be that either.

I needed an oil change before a very long road trip and a friend who had some significant repairs to his suspension/shocks recommended I stop in here.The man in the garage was friendly and got to work on my car right away. I chatted with the owner briefly while he filled out my paperwork. Seemed like some honest guys just doing their job on a nice Thursday afternoon.Cheap and quick - I was in and out in 15 minutes.Place was clean too.

These people saved my life!!!! I was talking to the nice Turkish man, whose name I dont remember;/. He was incredibly nice and helpful! I dropped off my car just for checkup but when I picked it up an h and a half later it was all read fixed! I left the place with a huge smile on my face and payed almost nothing!Bucktown Auto Repair you sure know how to build loyalty with your customers!

Please do not go to this auto shop. They are scammers. There are a few reasons why I do not recommend this shop. First and foremost, they took it upon themselves to continue working on my vehicle without notifying me of the price increase in the labor. I paid $60 to replace one headlight, when he originally quoted me $10, merely because he claimed it took an hour. Wouldnt you think he would know how long the job would take beforehand? I mean, it is your profession. By the way, that headlight didnt last a month. Was it worth the $60? I think not. Secondly, Ive gotten countless oil changes at this shop & I always buy my filter and oil beforehand. The owner/manager knows I always bring full synthetic oil and my own new filter. He went ahead and put their oil, which is not full synthetic (my vehicle requires full synthetic) and their filter. I usually pay $10 for the oil change labor, but this time I was charged $25 because he had to correct a mistake on his behalf. I will never go to this auto shop again. I get it, cars are expensive to maintain, its not the $25 and $60 I am upset about, it is the inconsiderate individual running this business that drives me up the wall.

I’ve been going to bucktown automotive ever since they opened. They are usually pretty busy but if you call ahead they can setup an appointment. I always go here for oil changes and they have taken care of a lot of mechanical work as well. 5 stars all the way!

While in route to get my flat tire fixed, I ran over a nail on Ashland. Arrived at BAR at 3:30, they assessed the tires and both needed to be replaced. They quoted a reasonable cost with parts and labor. To my surprise, car was done before 7 and I was on my way.Thank you, Bucktown Auto Repair I will definitely be back for my future car needs!

That was an exceptional experience for me. These 3 guys are awesome, they never lose smile on their face and provide a professional service everytime i go there( I live in Aurora and I drive 45 miles just to go these guys). If you dont wanna get ripped off from dishonest mechanics just give these guys a call and they will handle the rest for you.I had a bad alternator and battery and bad motor mounts, they took their time finding me the best parts available with affordable prices and explained to me everything they did, and on top of that they did a quick diagnosis for free and their labor is the most affordable in that neighborhood. So they fixed all these 3 problems in only one day, everything was so smooth. They also followed up with me to see if i have any problems after. Very helpful guys!I am sending all of my co-workers there as well and theyre so happy with Budget Auto Repair now as well.I am very spesific about my car (like any Audi owner) but i give my car keys to them with my eyes closed. They are super knowledgable about any kind of cars including European cars.Give these guys a try and judge me later ;)

Im so happy I found this place! I knew I needed a bit of work on my car but kept getting different opinions, some with very high price tags, at other shops. When I hit a bit of ice after this last storm and knocked my bumper partially off, I found Bucktown - they gave me a really fair price for the work on that as well as the other things I needed done. My car had to stay in the shop overnight and they even gave me a ride home because it was so cold out. They were great and I couldnt recommend them more highly!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. DO NOT COME HERE! I am currently in a lawsuit with Bucktown Auto Works right now because they damaged $4,000 on 2008 Toyota Camry. After not being able to jump my vehicle (on Lollapalooza weekend) I got it towed over to the shop to get diagnosed and repaired. They did not give me any quote, did not call me once for updates (my vehicle was there for 5 days), and started ordering parts without my authorization and taking apart my vehicle. After 5 days of calling them with no answers, I got it towed to the Toyota Dealership off North Ave, where they found $4,000 worth of damage caused by Bucktown Auto Works. Toyota confirmed they broke the alternator, engine harness, and a few other internal parts, and when I called them and showed them the Toyota quote and had them talk to my Service Adviser at Toyota, they refused to pay for anything (even though the son of the owner fully admits they were at fault). After 30+ calls, countless visits, etc, they refused to pay the bill when Toyota fixed my vehicle. I have a 4 minute video of the Toyota technician explaining and showing everything they damaged on my vehicle and all the damaged parts, even showing Bucktown these damaged parts. It does not end here. When they got served by the Sheriffs Department a few weeks ago, they claim there is a new owner and technically they are operating under a new name...very sketchy. These people have put me through A LOT of stress and agony, and I am seriously warning you all, DO NOT COME HERE. It is so poorly run and they do not know what they are doing. I live 4 blocks from the body shop and saw good reviews on Yelp, and I was very very misinformed. They have costed me around $6000 total now for their mistakes, and I will go after them until I receive all my funds back.

Horrible service. Lied about the time-frame to fix my car, essentially wasting my whole day waiting.They didnt even have the courtesy to call me. I had to call them on three separate occasions to get an update.On top of that he did a visual inspection that was completely wrong and would have not fixed the actual issue.I highly advise going to another place where the mechanic isnt a sarcastic jerk...who made several remarks the repairs will cost $10,000.

Went here for a brake job, which they did quickly and at a reasonable price. Problem is that afterwards my wheels get black dust on them a day or two after a car wash. I thought it was just because they were new and it would go away over time but it sure didnt. My rims constantly look like theyve gone through the depths of Morodor...

I was told by some auto shop that I may have a cracked rim on a wheel, but I was skeptical. So I came here and the guys looked at my wheel, for free! No cracked rim and no cost to me. Very kind, family run business. Highly recommend this shop.

These guys here are super friendly. They are from Turkey and run an honest business. I went back here a second time and they were able to replace my brake pads under 30 mins as they had spare time.

My girlfriend and i were on a road trip and our tank had a leak. The guys at Bucktown went out of their way to help us and worked many extra hours just to help us out. My van was even too big to fit on their lift and they still worked away with not complaints, even when they almost passed out from sticking their heads right into thd tank basically and nearly fainting from the fumes. Couldnt believe how friendly, accomodating and incredible they were. Meeting them was a blessing and a half. Really cool guys on top of it all.

I have taken my car here multiple times. Their prices are a good deal for major work - axles & wheel bearings, rack and pinion, triponic transmission sensor. The owner is very socialable and will walk you through the options and steps of your car repair. Only problem I had was the time it took to complete. They seem very busy, and were willing to take my car, but it took a while for the work to be completed.

These guys are absolutely awesome. They quoted me $560 for my alternator, battery, and break pads if all of them were determined to be faulty. They called me a couple hours after assessing the problems and they said the alternator was totally fine, break pads totally fine, and just the battery and connectors needed to be replaced for a total of $210 (taxes included!). I couldnt believe it! First time I have gone to their shop and they were super honest and won me over for the future.I decided to write this review here and on Yelp to make sure to give credit where credit is due. I called two other shops and the quotes were higher (one was as high as $900).I dealt with the manager and his nephew and my experience couldnt have gone any smoother. Thanks again!!!

These guys are awesome ! Trustworthy, reasonable, and quick. You can simply leave your car to Ali, Mustafa or Baran snugly and not worry about anything. They ll let you know once your car is perfectly maintained or fixed.I have tried many mechanics so far but none of them is like Ali and his team. I am 100% satisfied with the service they provided to me.

Exactly one week ago I had a breakdown, we got the car started and showed up here. These gentlemen were life savers, got the car back the next day. They went over and above to get us back on the road as quickly as possible.

Prompt, reasonably priced car repair with a sense humor! What more can you ask for? The fact that they are located 2 blocks away does not hurt either.

Got me in and out quickly, was stuck in Chicago with a broken fan belt. These guys took good care of me.

Thiss a not a too busy auto repair place. I stop here to change the motor oil of my car and my car was the next to motor oil change, the first car owner wait around 45 minutes to take his car for the same change motor oil and in my car was a little more of 40 minute. The issue is for a not too busy place why they take long time for a motor oil change.

I had a very poor experience with this company. I had significant work done to my car that was done incorrectly. After calling multiple times with no answer or being asked to call back when the “AC” guy was available and stopping by to have my car checked out, I was offered nothing other than the advice take it to a VW dealer. Horrible customer service, I will not return as a customer!

Scammers ken admits to no foul play i brought my car in for emmissions test check which was advertised free, then to check suspension and fuses. that was all after 2 hours go buy i get an asborbant qoute based on my vehicle make and model...i declined all services and when vehicle was returned it was damaged more than when i brought it in. complete disregard and is only in the neighborhood to scam the residents.
