Staff is amazing and so helpful! The building views from the east are beautiful. The prices for apartments and concessions are very reasonable and you can get a good amount of space depending on the unit. The package and mail room is very efficient. The building is old so the apartment units have some quirks (like small kitchens, old features, AC units, etc).

I have lived here for 1 month now and it has been nothing short of wonderful. My biggest fear when moving into a new apartment is the staff. That if I have a problem or service request, it will not be taken care of.The Deco is a place that takes care of every request. When I first moved in, two of my AC units, my ceiling fan, and my closet light did not work. (Ugh).I immediately reached out for help from maintenance, and within 24 hours I had it all fixed and replaced with ALL BRAND NEW appliances. Brand new AC’s, ceiling fan, and light. It was beautiful. The reason the initial broken things did not bother me or cause for concern, was because this apartment complex used to be owned by condo owners. Therefore, each room is different and unique. It was not an issue caused by the Deco.Another big perk of living at the Deco is how the manage mail and packages. This is something unique that I really appreciate. They use a software that locks your package in a room. It then sends a code to your phone that only allows YOU into the room to collect your package. I have never lost or been worried about a package of mine. They also make returns easy.Another initial worry I had was the laundry situation. It is located down in the basement and not in your room. But to my surprise, it is very safe and respect is shown by all guests. I have accidentally left my laundry (unlocked) in a dry for 48 hours. when I went to retrieve my things, it was untouched and perfectly fine. For my first Chicago apartment, I would give it 10/10. Very happy.

Connie, Kimberly, Alex and the assistant manager are the best. The are very professional, with a smile and knows the tenants names. Even though I have an ongoing problem, they have always assured me the staff will work on it ASAP.. The lines of communication are always open and you can email the staff. The building id beautiful and we are undergoing upgrades. However, the black lady in the office is unprofessional, with a nasty attitude. She talks to you as if you were her child, she devuldges the names of tenants who file a complaint to other tenants or the tenant who you are complaining about.. She jeopardizes the safety and security of the tenants. Last, the concierge tells tenants other tenants names without permission. The washers does not wash clothes well. Only a little water is in the dyer to saturate your clothes, the washers always have animal and human hair in them.

Dilapidated, non-transparent, falsely advertised. From unannounced water shutdowns to renovations, this building is falsely advertised as quality apartments at a low price. The kitchen (newly renovated) has no ventilation so our smoke alarm went off every time we cooked. The windows are dirty, the elevators are slow, the doors creak, and there are some creepy tenants and visitors.I give this place a star because of the doorstaff, the grocery store in the building, and of course the beautiful view (east facing only) and stellar location. Beyond that, the low price was irrelevant because it wasnt a deal. Cheap is cheap and, frankly, we shouldve been comped due to all the work being done on this building—but we werent. Leasing staff simply offered chips and popsicles as consolation. Its survivable, but dont try to put two people in a one bedroom—its too tight.C

Counting the days when I can leave here. Horrible construction.. we should truly be given a rent discount at this point. Management is horrible at getting back to you. Ive called 3x and still hadnt heard back.__________Construction starting at 7-7:30 am and doesn’t end until after 6. (I’m talking loud hammering and drills) DO NOT sign here. I continually get fluffed answers when I ask for a timeline. It has been almost 4 months now and no discount or any type of care of how they treat their residents. Save yourself the headache.

As a Leasing Agent, Ive had the pleasure of working with this building for a while now. Since it has become The Deco, it has become even more pleasurable. Great management team with Jarrod, Alek, Vanessa and now Connie, incredible door staff and of course this beautiful classic Chicago building.

Dont rent here, nothing is right here. Old bathroom, old & filthy kitchen, small and old version refrigerator and dust flows in and lot of noise. Dont ignore bad reviews. It is not worth the price, overpriced.

I moved here in January 2020, and the rent was okay for having some utilities included per the lease I signed and having to rent a parking spot in a garage off site--but this was before Lincoln Property Management was forced on the residents (by the voting owners--beware that this is a former condo building and there is a controlling group that does not communicate with renters). Quite the contrary to any omg low rent during the pandemic claims, Lincoln sent me a renewal letter that RAISED my rent almost $75 per month, offered only 6- or 18-month options, and on top of that, offered different lease terms now that they were the leasing agent--meaning that my included utilities (gas and water) disappeared and I was expected to have an a la carte utility package that conveniently does not include electricity, which, you guessed it, controls the horrific a/c units and baseboard heaters. Never mind the fact that the heaters are mounted on exterior walls underneath windows, so none of the heat actually flows into the apartment--its just sucked outside. Even with the heat on high, my apartment was always colder than the hallway. Not to mention, you used to have a choice of internet providers, but welcome to a Comcast monopoly now (also the fault of the owners). On top of all this, Lincoln 1) stuck someone elses renewal letter on my door (and provided a replacement with additional errors), 2) sent a letter via email that was addressed to someone else but regarding entering my unit, and 3) sent all residents an email implying that if we didnt contribute to the buildings holiday fund for support staff (front desk, maintenance, custodians/housekeeping), then they wouldnt feel appreciated. Maybe try paying them more instead of leaning on residents if the bonus fund isnt large enough... Lack of attention to detail aside, the cheesy name and the tacky specials flags in the front yard--neither existed earlier this year, and no, the building does not need a name when the LSD address speaks for itself--are the icing on this stale cake of a building. You can find plenty of character with heat included AND on-site parking in many buildings within walking distance of the former 1400 LSD. The decision to terminate my lease was an easy one and I would not recommend this building.

Good location but terrible and I mean terrible management, slum lords repairs never fixed for years, centipede infestation, high pressure sales tactics. Ownership and staff contact changes no customer service. Save yourself the time and rent elsewhere

I really like this rooftop, (my favorite compared to 5 other downtown rooftops Ive been on).Too expensive though. At night, it feels cozy and welcoming. The small string lights hanging everywhere gives the rooftop a magical feeling.Plenty of space and tables for whatever the occasion. Also, grills are provided for enjoyment.Plus, nice vantage point of Navy Pier. The fireworks are visible.
