I lived in a Reside west-loop rental unit for a year and a half and honestly cant say enough wonderful things about the Reside team. During my lease, everyone from the building manager to the Reside concierge to the maintenance team was nothing but spectacular. Overall the property was well-maintained and in the off-chance I needed maintenance assistance they were always fast to respond, extremely professional and efficient. This may sound cheesy, but I never felt like a customer to them, but rather a friend or member of the family and here are a couple reasons why:1. In summer of 2020 my dog became ill and passed away unexpectedly, which left me completely devastated. Soon after, I was chatting with the maintenance manager about it and (even though I said I wasnt ready for another pup) he offered to connect me with his niece who had a dog about to have puppies. Long story - short.... I ended up with a wonderful puppy who helped heal my broken heart after the passing of my beloved dog.2. Recently, after I moved out of the building, I had a recurring delivery for some medication delivered (forgot to update my address) and the building manager noticed and called me to let me know he grabbed the package for me and I could stop by his office to pick it up. I was grateful and surprised that he went out of his way for me even though I no longer lived in the building, such a wonderful display of customer service and resident care.I highly recommend the Reside team for their professionalism, attention-to-detail and ability to connect and care for their residents. There are a number of property management companies throughout the city and Ive had experience with many of them over the years, but Reside has been by far the best renting experience Ive had.
Ive enjoyed working and living with Reside for about a year now. The maintenance and on-site teams are responsive, the properties have excellent upkeep, and the diversity of locations and amenities is impressive. Love it here!
STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY! Paid $450 to apply for an apartment that was advertised cheaper then met with the “well the market changes daily” schpeal as to why it’s suddenly more than what was advertised two days prior. It’s been almost two weeks and not one single time has anyone reached out to me regarding my application. Every point of contact made has been on my end at my own effort. They’ll give you the run around passing the blame to everyone but themselves. You’ll get told multiple things that conflict with what the previous leasing agent tells you. They’ll conveniently never receive emails from your job or your bank regarding statements and letters proving your income. They’re just in it for the $$$$ at your expense. At this point if they called and said I was approved I’d still turn around because they’ve proven they can’t be trusted to uphold a lease. STAY AWAY!!!!!Update: 6/17 I was advised I’d get a refund of the admin fees and app fee and as of 7/6 I still have NOT received a single cent from them. Naturally they want to try and blame usps but I don’t buy that for a damn second! Seriously stay as far away from this company as possible!
We have lived with Reside since 2017. Overall we could not be happier. Anytime we have every had a maintenance issue the staff is on it. We have never had to wait for anything to be fixed. The office staff is friendly overall but, the maintenance staff is amazing and make it easy to stay. The pricing is very fair for the neighborhood we live in. They have not raised our rent very much in 4 years.
I toured at the 2010 Pierce earlier this month and was treated horribly from the second I spoke with an agent there. Terribly rude and frankly just lazy leasing agents who seems like they legitimately have a goal to NOT rent apartments. I can barely speak of the itself building because my partner and I were rushed in and out so fast but I can say that management should strongly consider a clean out and re-hire of leasing agents. In partial credit to these agents, I ended up choosing a Bozzuto managed building and I recommend you look into their buildings and stay far away from Reside.
Really enjoying this building community!
Really disappointing experience with Reside. We had to haggle to virtually tour the apartment (even though it was unoccupied). Apartment was not cleaned at all before move-in, and we had to negotiate with Reside to be reimbursed for a cleaning fee. Several broken items in the unit upon move-in (light switches, cracked bathroom sink, kitchen sink drain cover falling apart, burnt out lightbulbs, etc.). Brick walls were covered in efflorescence - basically, Reside didn’t properly seal the wall and it’s falling apart. Reside has refused to hire professionals to address the issue. They run their apartments as cheaply as possible, and will cut every corner. We were misled by a nice website and lease application portal. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
Such a fun group and experience!!!
My experience with Reside thus far has been great! Ive lived in their buildings for almost 2 years now. They always provide great service through the 24 hour desk that they provide. What I really appreciate most about reside is that I had to leave my original building because my roommate moved and they allowed me to transfer to another building which made the transition so much easier. The management staff has been amazing through this entire process and they answered each of my questions and I dont know where Id be without them. I definitely would recommend Reside to anyone in the Chicago area. The service is great, the apartments are gorgeous, and they really help you build a community through all the events they offer. If youre new to Chicago that makes it even better!
Words cannot express how regretful and disappointed to have resided at 24 S Morgan for 13 months. I wish there was a negative star option. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!1. This building sat open to the elements for 3 years prior to this management company buying it due a botched deal with a group of middle eastern bankers.- this pertinent to the conditions of the building2. They do NOT tell you when you rent in this building you can NOT control the heat or cooling until they “switch” one system over to the next. So if you rent in April as I did - you are left with two months of no A/C. These windows have no legitimate tent and are a sieve- there is no deal. Be it winter or summer. When it’s 60 degrees outside it’s 75 degrees in the unit. When humidity exceeds 60% as per weather experts this creates an “uncomfortably wet” environment - then as it approaches 70% as it happens to have been over last 4-5 days the heat in any amount becomes “oppressive” I almost had a nervous breakdown the last few nights, just can’t breathe especially if you have seasonal allergies as I do. The only A/C I could attain is in my car in the bldgs garage which was cooler than my unit.DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!How is it we have a stay at home order you do nothing to change your “68 degree for 3 days” policy (which it has been) or at least closely monitor it. It’s bad enough the heat (Nor the thermostat) goes beyond 78 degrees in the winter so again with windows that have no seal you are left with a draft. Then you’re left with a choice to buy an electric heater and jack up your electric bill. For last 4 days it has been 82-88 degrees indoors! For the record- when humidity exceeds There aren’t enough curse words in the dictionary. I’m so livid to have endure this at the tune if 2300/month. This inhumane and downright cruel. How give us a F’ing fan- anything. Mgmt doesnt 2 sh*ts cause they don’t live in it.I will be making a formal complaint with the city on this and lack of accommodations to those handicapped or medically impaired inducing systemic problems caused by high internal heat which they have failed to address.2. Window treatments. So when it’s hot- the brilliant management team had a directive to residents to close the shade (because this magically blocks humidity generated from heat, a concept a 8 yo knows is foolish). These dingy dirty white window treatments with small holes throughout them.Windows. Oh my one and only window that opens from the bottom with no breeze and whose frame is bent- that doesn’t close properly. Yea no relief here.3. Package - a human sh*t show of epic proportions. No order. No consistency. The machine to even get in the package room barely works. You can no longer scan a code. So now - during a pandemic where it has been alleged that touching surfaces should be avoided as much as possible you want us to touch the screen- being that more packages are being delivered because we are doing our part to stay at home would make logical reasoning that this should be fixed! Genius. I swear nothing being geniuses run this building.4. Garage Door- I think I have lost a year off my life for waiting for this door to go up and down that is rusted, bent and unsightly in appearance.- garage door is an alley, which this building makes no effort to ensure all the big trucks that service industry on Madison tend to park and load in. At the the tune of 250 bucks month to park. Yea good luck5. Countless repairs. One good thing I can say is the appliances are high quality. But being inside an antiquated building structure it’s a car with no gas. List of things had to be repaired in 13 months--wooden slatted door to laundry closet. when I first moved in, the bottom corner was glued back and painted in an off white lending to signs of previous repair. So off course it broke. Waited a week. Replaced it. Few months later- yea broke again. And now I have another- hardly works well.-bathroom door to bedroom, not only falls off the track- recessed into the wall.-hole in sink U PipeDO NOT MOVE HERE!!!
My main complaint was and still is, 2 years later the fact, that Reside let a third party contractor into my unit unattend resulting in thousands of dollars related to personal property damage. Reside did not protect my belongings while allowing the jackhammering and other activities while I was not home. The jackhammering alone shot rocks at my furniture and left a blanket of dust across the whole apartment.Reside acknowledged the damage and told me to repair my belongs and provide them receipts for reimbursement. After the receipts were provided, Reside no longer responded to my calls or emails. My second complaint is lease violations and failed building inspections. This includes providing misleading information while signing a lease and failing to maintain their properties in a safe manner. Here are two examples of many code violations: Go To City of Chicago Org - building violations - violations - inspection details:1.) Inspection 12315301 Address Key 11592682.) Inspection 12246058 Address Key 1159268Here is an example of misleading information from the Chicago Tenant Bill of Rights:What are the Landlord’s General Duties Under the Ordinance [Mun. Code ch.5-12- 100]? To give new or renewing tenants notice of: 1. Code citations issued by the City in the previous 12 months; I did not receive this notice and I am sure the passenger elevator brakes failing inspection multiple times would have stuck in my mind.
The third party rent payment system failed. I had to pay late fees, and now management is now requiring me to go out to get certified checks from the supermarket despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
Horrible management. Borderline discriminatory practices. They make your life ten times more difficult AND you pay a premium for rent. Dont expect any common decency or good neighbor attitudes.
Management does not care. Apartment 404 on the 4th floor of their Morse building blasts music every night weekday and weekend. Often until 2-3AM. Several neighbors have written and called several times for nearly a year now. The only response we get is to call the police. Useless management with no spine. No care for its residence.
Ive had multiple issues with the property management staff at one of their buildings, so I submitted a request for contact on their corporate website and have yet to hear back. Im starting to think that a lack of accountability, organization and customer service are a top-down issue.**Update**After speaking with corporate (Mindy) Im happy to say my issues have been resolved, including compensation for the trouble.
