I hired An agent to sell my home. After 4 months of the agent misrepresenting the home and it’s features, the agent not paying attention to detail, overbooking her schedule, and the list goes on and on; I decided to part ways with this company. The company told me I needed to refer to my contract about the cancellation fees. Now my last deal fell through because my agent didn’t disclose that no more appliances were coming with the house. In the contract that I have as a seller with this company it states what will come with the house. Now between the false representation which is a direct violation of the Realtors code of ethics, and the lack of attention to detail as it relates to the property this company was in direct violation of the contract. They still refuse to take responsibility even after I sent multiple screenshots to the managing Broker Drussy! I will be filing a complaint with the realtors board and we’ll as the state of Illinois licensing board. The company has been made aware of the agents code of ethics violations and still refuse to give me the keys to my home and release my listing. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY or the National Tenant Network! We went to them because we thought we could use their service so that I could co-sign on a lease for my daughter. They identified a property and we paid the application fee. Only, the property was not actually available. They gave us a great deal of run around saying that the owners: had not signed the contract but were about too, were too busy working, and for us to wait. A month of this and we finally went elsewhere. Essentially they took money for us for a product that they did not actually have. The fee is non refundable but I was encouraged by an agent to try to get it back. They ignored me, as you would expect. They got my $$$, I got nothing. AVOID!!!!

Im writing to share the wonderful experience I had working with Paulius (Paul) Smulkys in finding a home in Chicago. I was residing in Michigan and was looking for a new place in Chicago, so I could plan my move. I remember reaching out to Coldwell Banker regarding a particular house I was interested in, and Paul was quick to call me and let me know that the house was already taken. He immediately forwarded me other options with similar specifics and one of them is my primary residence now. The closing team at Coldwell Banker were efficient to address any errors during the process and diligent during the close. Paul could not have been more helpful. He made sure the entire process was taken care of and worked with me till the very end to close the deal. I really enjoyed working with Paul. The things I liked most about Paul was his professionalism, promptness in communication, and regularity in follow up. He also came across as a very friendly and funny person. We are still in touch and I would highly recommend him for anyone searching for a place in Chicago.

I had a showing scheduled with Tyler Weekes and wow. I don’t know if he was having a bad day or overall is just an uncomfortable unpleasant person, but he was short and snobby from first in person contact. I don’t expect realtors/brokers etc, to speak to me the entire time but normally they give additional details or something. The most he said was “morning” and “the deck extends” I had to ask about the application process which, he still never sent. Don’t bother. The only excuse I can think of is maybe someone that he loved died that day, cause it was just very much obvious he wasn’t in a good mood. Overall gives off a very creepy awkward vibe and as someone who has worked with many brokers, he is hands down the worst I’ve ever encountered.

Moving to a new city during a pandemic in search of a 5-bedroom place I knew was going to be difficult, but Coldwell Banker Realty (specifically Paul Smulkys) was a great help through it all and exceeded all expectations. He provided us with many options even two months before our ideal move-in date to get a perfect idea of what we were looking for so that when the right place came along, hed know. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and the market which was particularly helpful as none of us were from Chicago. Once we did find the perfect place, he worked endlessly with the selling realtor and owner to ensure we were the owners first choice, giving us advice throughout the whole experience. I truly do not think we would have found our place without him, and will definitely be using Paul, along with the rest of the Coldwell Banker Realty service the next time we are looking for a place.

My experience with Coldwell Banker was subpar. My earnest money took forever to be returned, and my experience with a Lydia Chodzen-Syrwid was extremely HORRIBLE. Lidia Chodzen-Syrwid is the most unprofessional person in real estate I have had the displeasure of dealing with. Not only did she act immorally and unethically while failing to mark the property I was going to purchase as contingent for the entire attorney review period, she also was showing her dislike for foreign born citizens and currency. Lidia also pushed the seller in an unethical way (more than a listing agent should) to ask for more proof after being made aware of the situation I was in (essentially I needed about 5 more days to have my funds in a position to be viewable in American Dollars). I have reason to believe she was acting this way because of my husband and father in laws race as well as the fact that the funds would be coming from a different country. Her seller wanted a quick close and upon recently checking, that listing I was more than ready to close on in the first week of February. Thankfully, this dreadful experience has turned positive for me as I had the opportunity to quick close on another property. Best of luck to any person of color or any buyer who plans to transfer money internationally to purchase a home through Coldwell Banker, may you never cross her path. FIND A DIFFERENT BROKERAGE!!!

We worked with Paulius Smulkys and had an absolutely amazing experience!! Paul could not have been more helpful. We would recommend him to anyone searching for a place in Chicago. Thanks so much Paul!

I didnt get further than a few emails with this place. Byron was extremely rude and demanded I call him in all caps immediately after I had just sent one casual inquiry to a Craigslist post. I think the way you speak to people is a big indicator of the type of company you work. Based on the way he responded, essentially saying I needed to call him right away or I was wasting his time, I can only assume its a shady company all around that doesnt value clients or treating them with respect. If they did, this dude wouldnt work for them. And there is a reason they have so many one star reviews.

Me and my friend had never been to the city before and had no idea where to start. As soon as we got to their office we were impressed with their professionalism and then were completely blown away the the knowledge and helpfulness of the staff. I highly recommend going to Chicago Apartment Finders for any apartment searching. Definitely ask for Ryan, from the moment we walked into the door to when we were filling out the apartment applications a few hours later he went above and beyond to make our apartment finding process as easy and helpful as possible. I highly recommend Chicago Apartment Finders and definitely ask for Ryan without a doubt.

I contacted this company through Coldwell Banker Rental Division, they assigned me an agent, Zach, who told me over phone that he would email me a listing. I didnt hear from him for two weeks despite trying to reach out multiple times. I cannot recommend this company. I would recommend you be vigilant with time in the Chicago real estate market and find another company/agent if they are not prompt with their service.

I had a great experience. I called at noon, and received an appointment at 5pm the same day. The associate, Ed W., was very knowledgeable. He was able to see through my sporadic thoughts and indecisiveness to identify what type of rental I was looking for. I felt very comfortable about the whole process. I would recommend this organization to anyone looking for an apartment.

The worst. When you move out, they will basically have agents coming at all times of the day, sometimes with notice, sometimes without notice and most of them have awful attitude. Nobody seems to know whats going on at this place.Any time weve made a request for maintenance, its taken many days for them to respond (if at all sometimes).Chicago Apartment Finders is about as useful a company as the Acme Corporation is portrayed in the Wile E. I have had a very negative experience with agents at this place. I visited this office twice this year. I work in profession where time and efficiency is appreciated. I felt as if agents at this location firstly, didnt care whether they could find something or not, and secondly, were literally wasting my time. I advised them BEFORE I met them in person via email exact details regarding the rental I was looking for, only to find out that the agent didnt even read my email ahead, and was asking me questions that I already answered. The agent was utterly unprepared and was showing me property that clearly didnt have anything to do with what I wanted. He was asking me same questions that I had to repeatedly answer. I would not recommend this company to anyone who appreciates timely, organized, efficient and customer-oriented service. I would never recommend this company to someone who is a working professional with limited time at hand.

Well, I was in talks about getting an apartment. Zack and James made me aware of the application fee and said that if i was turned down I would be able to use the $59.00 towards another unit. Upon completing the application, I was rejected and then told that I cannot apply it towards any other property. They also said that if I needed a cosigner, I would not be able to use them. Im not saying it is a bad place Im just saying be careful.

This company works for the benefit of the lessor and the lessor only. I worked with them to find an apartment, everything was going fine up until the last minute when the lessor abruptly decided to change the leasing terms and CAFinders just sided with the lessor. (The terms were verbally agreed upon and were changed right up at the time when the lease was being generated) They left me without an apartment and did not offer any help or were willing to get me to another apartment (although my rental & credit history were fine). Id avoid this firm!

I was assigned an agent who put tons of pressure on me to apply for an apartment on the spot and acted like I was wasting his time (and also was late to my appointment). We were locked out of two of the apartments, which wasted MY time. He also only showed me apartments that were at the very top of/over my budget after I said that amount was the absolute highest Id be willing to pay. Dont think that these people want to help you--they are salespeople and just want your commission, which I understand, but am not okay with when the salesperson is a jerk. Dont use them unless youre absolutely desperate for housing and know EXACTLY what you want. If you do use them, give them a lower number than youre actually willing to pay because theyll show you places that are over your budget.

HI ALL. I was referred to Jodi, at Apartment Finders from a friend who said she did a good job finding them a place. I was relocating for a medical job internship and Jodi did way beyond the call of duty. I called her told her my parameters of what I needed for living space: price, area, pet policies, total move in fees, etc. I was sick of calling realtors on listings and being told that the unit wasnt available anymore but they could find you another one. LOL, Baiting and switching if you ask me. Jodi, met me at her office showed me two units that met my criteria, drove me to the places and was professional, efficient, and personable. I met the apartment managers, was showed apartments immediately, applied and was moved into my new top floor apartment with 844 sq ft in a week. Thanks Jodi at Apartment Finders. You deserve your pay! Very happy with this service.

I went to CAF about 4 years ago and was very impressed with the service. I didnt end up signing a lease through them for reasons unrelated to their service. I went back this week and had a very different experience. Before, every desk in the place was filled with an agent, customers all around, etc. This time there were about 3 agents and a receptionist. Oh, and a very cute office dog. That was awesome. After I communicated our wants/needs over email, we spent an additional 10 minutes explaining them again to our agent. Then we sat in awkward silence as he browsed the company website for listings.Nothing was prepared in advance and with the exception of driving us to two listings, we could have done everything ourselves before arriving. There arent any listings that the agents have that arent on their website. Do the research yourself, if you fall in love with a unit, give them a call and set up a showing. Dont expect the full-service experience they project unless you dont know how to use a computer or smartphone. But youre reading this, so thats not an issue.

I have a worst experience with them. I rented an apartment about 9 Months ago. When rented, agent had a least knowledge on the terms and condition of the apartment management and they have to include extra 250$ for the move in. More over my work is like I may have to relocate so I asked agent about sublease and he said sublease is very simple and I can do it any time. Its been 9 Months and Now I have to relocate to other location so wanted to sublease but no one is helping in this regard and I have to pay rest of my 3 Months money to my landlord. This is so frustrating. I will not recommend this.

Had an appointment setup, sent search criteria. I arrived for my appointment w/Mitch to find there was nothing available. I just took the redline from the loop for nothing, back down to loop to metra back to the burbs. Long work weekday, an email of sorry nothing came up in the budget and criteria would have sufficed. Waste of time.1 year later I have a different broker but I find a place on the first search, listing is to my dismay listed by someone in this office. App instructions are little annoying, no electronic signature, 1st month rent due at application with admin and app fee (whatever) Tried to fax no response. I call to check to drop off paperwork, receptionist says oh our fax hasnt worked in months real nice.Guy, broker/agent whoever he was looked over my paperwork and started giving me attitude as to why I was dropping off in person. I express my displeasure with the fax situation. He backs off, not impressed with this place. Try spaces or Elan....

Everybody knows how stressful and sometimes nightmarish finding an apartment can be. These guys will do their best to make that experience for you a million times more difficult than you have ever imagined it could be.They found me an apartment pretty quickly and I paid their very expensive service, which is above the average, plus I paid the first rent and deposit in advance. Few days later, after everything was done, my agent Mitch, called to inform me that I was just unlucky and that the apartment was rented to someone else, right in front of my nose. Okay, I guess that happens. But, luckily, he continued, there was another apartment in the same building with the same settings, for the same price, just a different floor, so I shouldnt worry, we will just sign new papers for the other one and I can move in. I went through all the process with Mitch one more time: papers, showing etc. (he was at least 45 min late each time when we were supposed to meet). After a week, when I still didnt hear back from Mitch to confirm the deal, I called him to check what was going on, but he ignored my calls. Then I texted him, but he ignored my texts. I called the office, and they were telling me that hes too busy. One more time, I already paid the service, rent, and deposit and I was just waiting for details about moving in. They were holding a significant amount of my money and didnt think they should at least respond to my phone calls! Finally, I got a call back from Mitch, after 10 days or so. Coldly, he stated Im sorry, your apartment was rented to someone else, but dont worry, I have an other place just perfect for you. You kidding me? Whaat? Again?? No way. I simply replied that I want my money back in full asap. I wasted over 2 weeks with them that I could use to search elsewhere. So what these guys do is if they dont have what you looking for at the moment you come to them, they will show you anything and say its available just to keep you tied with them so you wouldnt go to another agency. After they think they bought some time, they will start searching and offering you new solutions.I am very disappointed and angry when I remember the stress I had during that period and how I was unlucky enough to cross my path with this agency that only brought me more stress and wasted my time for over 2 weeks. I wouldnt recommend them even to my worst enemy. Nobody deserves to have business with deceivers like this.

Please save yourself the trouble of messing with this leasing agency. We saw a unit and it was wonderful. We wanted to put the application in right away. We were told the application fee, the administrative fee and first months rent would be due before they would process the application. We were hesitant to give them a whole months rent without seeing the lease first. We were told once we paid first months rent the unit would be off the market and the rent was refundable, if we decided not to take the unit. We loved the place and decided to trust them. That was a mistake!! Once we got the condo fees they were double of what we were told. I called to explain that the fees were double and then they said we are not sure we can refund the first months rent. In addition, there was problems with the lease and we were waiting for it to get fixed. Without getting a revised lease I was told that they are still showing the unit and if I didnt sign the lease they would give it to someone else. They lied to me twice!! The unit was not off the market and they doubled our fees!! This is not good or honest business practices. I am shocked the they are part of Coldwell Banker. Luckily, the owner of the unit was reasonable and worked it out so we do not have to pay the increased fees.

Very uninformed, rude, unable to help and turned me away. I am an American citizen but I have lived in Canada my whole life, yet they suggested I get a I20 which is a form for international students to study in the US. The State department would never require that from a US citizen its absurd, even when I showed the agent my US passport, even asked if I had a SSN (how else would I have a passport then?) They turned me away saying I wouldnt be eligible to apply for an apartment. They even suggested that I should find a job before even trying to get an apartment despite the fact that I will be a Grad Student full time and I got 30thousand in scholarships plus other federal funding.... I then go out on my own apply for an apartment I found while walking in the neighbour...and got approved... Do not waste your time with these people. You are better off searching online on your own or literally walking around the neighbour you would like to live and take down the numbers listed.

Mitch wasted my time today!!! I spent $42.00, on a taxi after telling him there were major issues affecting my credit score ... mostly identity theft. He wanted me to show up on this freezing cold day promising me he would run my credit for free just so I could have a copy. I definitely need to repair my credit tomorrow and will definitely advise social security that my social security number was compromised. Ive been traveling through out the united States spending much of my earnings on hotel stays but Mitch has no empathy and he even advised me that obtaining a furnished rental would be impossible since I work for myself and dont have sufficient verifiable income yet how come I survived three years traveling by myself with pets ??? They honestly are only out to protect the landlords and property owners and not prospective eligible tenants. If you use this service bring your tax forms, bank statements and credit card or they will show you the door. Oh by the way I work part time as a mystery shopper!!! So after I showed up on time I had to wait for Mitch to greet me while his crying infant was at his cubicle obviously very unhappy about the work environment. Who brings a cranky infant to work? Dont waste your time here unless you have all documents proving you arent a tenant risk...you arent important only the property owners are represented here...this company is a sham!

My husband and I have been living in a CAF apartment since June, and we have had nothing but problems since we arrived. First, they never made repairs from existing damages, which included a leak under the sink and ants coming in through cracks in the walls. Second, there has been unacceptably loud construction going on in the apartment above ours, both day and night, since we moved in. I attempted to contact the property manager about these issues on several occasions, both via phone and e-mail, and she refuses to do her job and respond. Lastly, there have been people from CAF coming in the apartment a few times a month since we moved in checking up on things. Last week we received an e-mail saying they would come in on Thursday, but they never did. So, this week Tuesday I came home to find they had been in the apartment. I was not happy, because they came in without warning or permission. Since, I am home most days, I dont want people constantly coming in. Bottom line-I would move out today if possible.

While I understand the idea of this service, I am not sure of why it operates the way that is does. I am currently living in Boston, and called CAF to schedule an appointment to view several places while I was in CHicago looking for an apartment. I made sure to tell them which specific listings from their website I was interested in looking at so that they would be able to contact the residents in advcance to make sure I would be able to get in to see the apartmernts during my appointment. When I came in for my appointment, I was told that the listings I requested to see had a 24 hour notice policy for the current tenants and that I wouldnt be able to see them until tomorrow. What was the point of my appointment? I found this extremely useless. However, the service they provide is a good idea in theory, they drive you from place to place, give you water/coffee/tea, and are really very nice people. I just think the entire operation should be more time efficient.
