I love the prompt service of the Maintenance Staff whenever I place a work order. The work is always completed in a timely and professional manner. Kudos to the Maintenance at the Sutherland Apartments
I’ve been here for 6 months and I absolutely love it! The staff is so kind, especially Brittany at the front desk. She has an amazing personality and makes you feel welcoming. If there is a maintenance issue, it’s usually resolved the same day. The only ongoing issue I’ve had is with the overnight staff. If I call downstairs about a noise complaint, they do not do anything about it. They say they will take care of it, but never come up to resolve the issue. But I believe this has already been addressed with Resident Services & they have apologized for it. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be for Mac Properties to invest into getting an app so accessing the resident portal would be easier.
Ive been here for about 7 months now and can definitely say it has its pros and cons.Pros. The front desk is polite and Antonette is literally the nicest one of them. She is always so sweet and warm and sociable. The rent takes care of everything so I dont need to worry about water, lights, an exterminator or anything being broken.Cons: Sometimes the hallway stinks, and the elevators are always broken for one reason or another. The wifi equipment is terrible so you can only get up to 21 MBPS. If they upgraded their wifi equipment it’d be WAYYYY better.

This property is a great property. I just renewed my lease and I havent had many issues. Id like to speak on Kieth and Amondo in particular. Keith has came in several occasions to maintenance anything that I put a work order in for and he is very professional and gets the job done right and right away. Also Amondo is amazing very helpful when Im moving things and need a little assistance even though its not his job. I appreciate these amazing men that work for the building.

Where do I actually start... well first, dont rent from them. The management is horrific. We lived at the Sutherland for a yr.. a yr was definitely enough. After three months of us living there.. we found out that we no longer had a property manager, after my husband and I called the resident services department for a month trying to get service. The water in the sink, has white specs in it. Do not drink the water. The walls are so thin.. u can hear everything and I mean everything. The foundation in the building is off. We started noticing cracks in the walls, that would spread and become larger. The internet service that they provide, isnt great. U have to pay for a service that sometimes works.. sometimes doesnt.. then when it doesnt work, they are hard to get in touch with. Mac Properties is a company that I would never do business with. My leasing agent, Ashley (Ashlee), called me.. emailed me.. texted me.. and etc before signing the lease. After signing, I couldnt find her. She never returned my calls, emails, or anything. When we first signed the lease, she told us that it would be 1,180.00 for the apartment. After signing the lease, it was 1,280.00 and that wasnt including heat and electricity. We ended up having to sign up for ComEd, which was ANOTHER 120.00 to 180.00 because everything is electric. So it costs more.. and in the winter time, that heat does nothing. When I talked to the company about it, because of course when I tried to call the leasing agent, she never answered nor called me back.. they told me that there was nothing they could do. Afterwards, I called resident services, which is a bunch of ppl that routes calls to other departments.. so they never actually solve issues.. they just transfer u. The whole time we lived there.. was a disaster. The building would sometimes smell like weed.. the person at the desk, is from resident services.. so its not an actual front desk or security guard. The lower level, when u come in, always smells.. unless they know they have a showing that day. The elevators never work. They always go out.. or they are out of service. Then when u complain, they put a piece of paper there to just let u know they arent working.. but never really do anything about it. The washers and dryers, are hit or miss.. sometimes they work.. sometimes they dont. But u wont know that until after u have put clothes and soap in.. only to have to take it out and put it in another dryer. The garbage will sit in the hallway for an entire week, before the maintenance person comes and throws it out. The hallways are vacuumed once a week. They charged us an extra 50.00 a few times, because they didnt have in their file, that we signed up for ComEd. The biggest issue for me, was that they will come into your apartment whenever they please. If youre there or not. They entered our apartment 5 times within the year that we were there and at one time, they entered without knocking. My husband had to buy an alarm for me. Some of their properties have roaches, mice, and etc. I would definitely find somewhere else to stay. My advice is just to not rent from the Sutherland. At all, if u could help it.
