Got my nails done here for my wedding. I booked the appointment months out for this place based on the positive google reviews. I asked for French tips. The appointment took nearly 2 hours and was disastrous. The technician started with a base acrylic layer then tried to glue the white tips over it. She had a hard time getting them to stick at this point, which made the appointment go even longer. Then, when she got them to stick, added more acrylic over top which made my nails very uneven. I’m all for supporting small businesses but this was a nightmare. I was late for my wedding rehearsal and left with mediocre nails. I don’t live in Charlottesville but I wouldn’t go back here if I did.

Shay (spelling might be incorrect) did a FANTASTIC job on my nails! I had gotten acrylic nails for the first time a couple months ago at a different location, under the naive impression that it was good quality. I went in today for a soak off & regular manicure. Shay was kind and patient as she explained to me that the goopy, sticky substance that came off my nails were, in fact, not good quality. A nail tech’s nightmare. But she pushed through and now my nails are a DREAM! Shay was extremely detail oriented with her work. She listened to what I requested regarding nail shaping which I really appreciated. I ended up getting a gel manicure instead of a regular with their top deluxe option with exfoliation, wax, & massage. I’m really grateful that Boom Boom was able to accommodate the last minute decision to change my plans. I highly recommend Boom Boom! P.S. you DEFINITELY need an appointment at this salon!

I got gel tips for the first time for the first time. If I had any questions about products the owner explained to me what she was using and what it did in a kind manner knowing it was my first time. She is a smart, funny, and professional person who did an amazing job on my nails.ESSENTIAL: There is no overwhelming chemical smell at this place, and the owner explained its because of their extremely vigilant product handling and amazing store ventilation. Most nail salons I cant go to because the moment I walk in there is an overwhelming smell of acrylics. Ive found my new place to get my nails done.10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Boom Boom is fantastic! The staff are warm and friendly and theres a great atmosphere. Its particularly good for waxing and a v relaxing place for a manicure or pedicure.

Debbie did such a great job. Plus her creativity to design my nails have been well complimented. I will be back.

At first I was nervous they would be too thin but after one or two appointments I fully trust the process and the main owner always does them perfectly. I love talking with her about Vietnam :) she’s so friendly. They also have all their nail tools in sanitation packets and break them open for each person so it’s super sanitary.

Called yesterday for wax appointment and Katie couldn’t fit me in, but was willing to open the shop an hour early the next day to fit me in. AND she did a great job. Very thorough and kind. Will definitely be back.

I have been to several nail salons in town and Boom Boom Nails has been my best experience! The owner and her staff are welcoming and professional. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and deliver great service!

I got a manicure, my upper lip waxed, and my eyebrows waxed. Katie was AMAZING! Not only did she do a great job, but she was so hospitable and fun to talk to. Will definitely be going there again!

Got my first mani pedi ever and it was great. Very relaxing. Wishing the lady would have understood me when i made the appointment. Wanted gel extensions but she thought i wanted gel manicure. Oh well.. Still looks good.

I went there for a Brazilian wax and it was the best one Ive ever had. No wax left, I DIDNT HURT! She was so nice it was like I had known her for years. I will definitely return and tell everyone about it!!

I went to Boom Boom all four years of UVA, and I cannot recommend it enough. Super kind and fun owner and great nail technicians. Ive gotten manicures, pedicures, and different waxes, and Ive never had a problem.

I got powder and the nail tech really messed up my nails. She was careless and not paying attention to what she was doing... even though there were no other customers she was yelling across the salon to the other tech that was working and it was just an unpleasant experience all around. It was seemingly clean until you take a GOOD look around and it was pretty grimy... When I left, two of my fingers were bleeding from her trimming my cuticles too closely and buffing on my skin instead on my nail because she was talking and not focused. My color was also cracking and breaking off within a few days? I promise Im not even picky, but I definitely wouldnt go again.

I would never dream of go ing anywhere else. Katie and her team are the best!

Really modern place, probably the cleanest salon that Ive ever been to! I came in on a Tuesday at 12pm and they took care of me right away, no waiting! Katie did my dip manicure ($43) and she really took time and care with it. Ive had better dip manicures at other places (Lees salon is amazing), but this was still good. I really enjoyed the decor and ambiance of it and definitely will come again for a wax or other services! They validate parking from the garage across the street and theres a student discount too.

What a wonderful place! So clean and the owner Katie is the sweetest thing! My friends and I had pedicures and brow waxes. Great prices and they validate if you get Services! Highly recommend!!!! I live 30 minutes away but will make sure I include a stop here when I’m in town.

Great experience..I visited this shop when i was visiting my daughter and i couldnt be more pleased. Beverly did an amazing job on my manicure and although Im not typically a nail art person, I just had to try one design after seeing all of her wonderful artwork samples. Ive been coming here once a month or so for fake tips/a dip manicure. This place is great! Its super clean and the people working there are very friendly. Ive never left feeling like they didnt do an excellent job on my nails.

Went here with a friend for a nice experience. It was a horrible experience and frustrating. Lady was on the phone the whole time while doing my nails, very dirty, and it was just a strange nail experience.

I went here for my first Brazilian wax, NEVER AGAIN. I asked the lady what type of wax did they use (due to my sensitive skin) she completely ignored me. Upon arriving early on a Saturday, they were completely empty! Which I thought was weird for a nail salon on UVA campus. She proceeded to take me to the back room which was DISGUSTING! The floor was dirty, the paper in the table was covered in dirt I had to ask her to change the paper, she simply just brushed it off. SHE DID NOT CHANGE HER STICKS, and she did NOT use fresh wax, she did not clean her hands or even talk about the process or follow up care. It was HORRIBLE, UNSANITARY, and they should not be open!

I went in for a gel manicure. The nail technician was incredibly kind but the whole experience was very rushed. This was the second time I’ve visited this salon and both times I’ve left with bleeding/pain around my cuticles. Not the best gel manicure I’ve ever had. My nails look “ok.” I really wanted to like this salon, especially because everyone was friendly. The overall environment was charming and clean; unfortunately it hasn’t worked out.

Boom Boom is the only nail salon I will ever go to in Charlottesville again. The owner, Katie is one of the nicest women I have ever met. Her staff is so professional and skilled. I feel so welcomed and appreciated every time I go there. Katie did my nails for my wedding and they were beautiful. The salons itself is a gem. Cutest place EVER. Such unique decor. Sooo clean and well kept. I’m so glad she’s here.

Went in today for waxing services. I called ahead and they were able to fit me in immediately. When I arrived the owner, Katie, took me back to the waxing room immediately. The salon is cute with a modern aesthetic. Katie was meticulous with the waxing and made sure I was happy with the results. The prices were very reasonable and I will definitely be back for a mani-pedi. They also offer a 10% discount for paying in cash. I’ve been to several nail and waxing salons in Charlottesville, and this was the most positive experience. I’ve definitely found my go-to spot.

GO LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. Took half an hour to start. Threw a hot towel on the dirt covered floor then actually, literally threw it onto my legs. Unsanitary. Guy rolled his eyes at my wife who was letting her toes dry for, I kid you not, 5 minutes. Staff was rude to customers and each other. Honestly shocked they’re in business.

Great location - conveniently located on the corner. Excellent service and beautiful job on my mani/pedi combo. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good, clean nail salon. Parking garage across the street is also a plus. Call ahead for appointments.

Wish I had discovered this gem years ago! Cute nail spa run by a talented and charming owner. As a frequent C’Ville visitor, I was in search of a great nail salon, and I finally found it. Over the years, I’ve visited a high-end day spa and one other nail salon (both located on or just next to the Downtown Mall), but I never returned because they reuse their nail files, buffers, and scrubbers. So gross! Not this place. BoomBoom is sterile - every customer gets fresh tools! This was why I took a chance and visited, and I’m so glad I did. My mani/pedi looks great, had a great convo with the owner (she did my nails herself), and it’s walking distance from UVA. Fantastic value for a superior experience. Can’t wait to return!
