A little pricey but its a city barber shop. The cut was good. The line was good and they use straight blades which is nice. I had a simple fade and it was done well with good blending.

What a treat while I was traveling. Very convenient location downtown. Haircut was spot on. I really enjoyed that they have a lounge versus a waiting area.

They’re really bad at managing their schedule. If you make an appointment for a certain time, expect to wait 30min to an hour if you arrive on time. If you don’t arrive for your appointment, you’ll get your card charged for a missed appointment. Not right and a messed up way to do things. Not coming back.

This place is fantastic. I walked in on a Thursday with no call ahead and was giving only a 20 minute wait. They told me I could be seated in the back room where the benches were and there were free drinks, a TV, a huge pile of magazines (probably 40 or so) and a stand up classic arcade game. When they came and got me 5 minutes early and the haircut was a breeze, small talk was interesting, not boring. at the conclusion, he used a straight razor on my the back of my neck, washed my hair to get all the cut hairs out, then offered a shoulder massage but I declined as my parking meter was expiring soon. Cost was $35 but well worth the experience! 10 out of 10 WILL go again.

The haircut itself is good, the experience was very poor.Location is a full block off on google, so I was running late. Didn’t get shampoo’d (best part of a haircut in my opinion), no neck strip, my hair was dripping wet after the non-shampoo wash and soaked my face and mask, no “rejuvenating massage,” and no blow dry at the end.So I received 2/5 of advertised “premium” items.I end up paying 80-100 bucks in NYC and can honestly say I felt more gypped by this experience.

Tommy is Amazing!!! He has been my barber for the past 6 years. He is so talented and has a passion for creating dope hair styles!! He can do full head designs and fades like no ones business!! He moved to Colorado almost a year ago and I miss his talented work a lot! Come back:)! I’ll be waiting! Shop overall is great - but theres a pretty big difference between stylist skill. The waiting room with beverages and a big TV is great. Good products for sale.Worth making sure you know whos cutting your hair if you want to make sure you get what you want!My most recent visit resulted in me not getting what I talked to my stylist about - notably more taken off the top than we had agreed to, and theres not much you can do when its gone!

Let’s talk about Nicole Duffy for a second... as a black guy in Austin, it’s next to impossible to find a “go to” barber. The last place I’d look would be what I thought of as a chain barbershop. Duffy is amazing at all types of hair, but if you’re an African American guy trying to find a home barber, Duffy’s... and she’ll have you laughing the entire time!

Went in for the first time yesterday and after reading the reviews of Mitchel I definitely wanted him to cut my hair. Boy was this a big mistake! He was late getting to me, conversation was nonexistent, haircut felt rushed and it was not blended at all. When I made this known to him he argued to me that he did not feel comfortable cutting my hair the way that I wanted it and had gotten it cut this way many times before. Then he proceeded to tell me that I did not have the type of hair for the cut that I desired. He did not put a neck strip around my neck and he grabbed his combs and clipper heads from out of his apron’s pockets and use them during our cut. When he switched between clipper heads he put the ones that he had used on me right back into his pockets. Yuck! Afterwards I sat for a while in the customer waiting area finishing my beverage and noticed that he also did not use a neck strip on the customer after me, but used the exact same cape and he did not sweep the floor in between us. What made matters worst is that he used the exact same comb and clipper heads on the very next customer as well. After sitting about half way through this cut I simply left out of utter disgust and went to another barbershop to have the cut fixed and properly washed. In my opinion go to someone else!

I am new to Austin and decided to try this place because we are living in downtown Austin and it’s within a five minute walk from our condo. I booked Mitchell English because I read many reviews that mentioned his name and the quality of his work. I booked my appointment with Mitchell online. The online booking process could be easier but once I got used to it I was able to quickly book the Appt. I arrived for my Appt on time and waited about 10 minutes for Mitchell. He apologized for running behind schedule and I didn’t mind. Mitchell is a very focused professional who is talented and likes to be efficient when he is with a customer. Chatting is kept to a minimum but Mitchell is a very nice person who pays close attention to what you are explaining to him. The haircut he gave me was exceptional and looks great on me. Also, he told me that he would not charge me for a beard trim because I was already doing a good job at maintaining it. In sum, Mitchell is a talented professional who is customer oriented and succeeds in his craft in every respect. He will be my barber from now on.

Ive been a customer of Finleys before but, this time was different. I know because of covid the experience will not be .... correct. For example I did not get a shampoo or massage even though I payed for it. The best part was getting a botched hair cut. I asked for a pompadour with a fade and I got ..... man I dont know. I guess a karen haircut really, I have let it grow out before going to a completely different place. I have noticed my left and right side are 2 different lengths. PLEASE DONT GO HERE SAVE YOUR MONEY SAVE YOUR HAIR!!!!!

Excellent customer service and barber skills. Even when my regular barber is unavailable, I get a great cut.The vibe of the place is great. It was the old school barbershop feel with hints of modernity. The big screen in the waiting room is always playing sports, the mini fridge has everything from water and soda to white wine. All complimentary. There’s even a Galaga machine for the kids or if you’re a nerd.KEEP IN MIND that parking is best under the AMLI. It’s validated during the week and street parking is free on Sundays, so schedule your appointment on Saturdays only if absolutely necessary. $14 for the privilege of parking under some over priced apartments is not worth it.Scheduling online is easy enough and all you need is a quick call if you need to cancel. Overall, this place is great and very much worth the $35 basic cut.

Made an appointment here knOwing nothing about it. Mitchell cut my hair. Best haircut I’ve ever had. Extreme attention to detail and my hair and beard ended up looking exactly how I wanted. I have been back a couple times since. Friendly front staff as well. Check it out, ask for Mitchell!

This is the premiere barber in the city. Walked in and was instantly treated like a king. The waiting area is setup like the man cave of the century. A large selection of beers and wine to keep you on your toes while you wait. The cut itself was arguably the best in the state. They take the time to mold your hair like it is a clay sculpture from the Davinci era! Lean back at the end for nice hot towel ending and the upper shoulder massage that leaves you satisfied and smiling.

Made an appointment on Monday night for Tuesday morning. No problem with the online appointment system and arrived right at my appointment time. Checked in quickly and was offered to head to the lounge area for coffee or other drinks if I wanted. Was not rushed at all, which was nice as I was the one who wasn’t ready. My hair stylist was Donovan Shaw, who was excellent. He took my information and pictures as to what I was looking for in a haircut and proceeded to work. He was easy to converse with and very personable. The end result was great (my first fade) and I give my highest recommendation for Donovan and Finley’s. Great work all.

Finleys recognizes the value of service. The people there are nice, and generally do a good job. It is not 5 stars because some barbers are not as good as others, and sometimes they do not start on time. I would still recommend anyone try Finleys.

Awful booking experience

Superb Barber..Melanie is absolutely Amazing. Takes real care in your haircut, beard & facial. At the end she gives a mini shoulder massage. They also validate if you park in garage around the corner.

I really wanted this to be an awesome experience. It almost was. It may just be that this isnt really the kind of place for guys like me who shave their heads (to the skin) on a regular basis. Staff was friendly and professional, and all the lotions and hot towels felt great on the skin and were very relaxing...but the quality of the main event, the shave, wasnt quite worth the asking price. I had a little gouge shaved out of the front of my head, so now I have an unsightly quarter inch red spot of exposed flesh on my scalp. I know it will pass with time, but for $72 (including the face shave) I expect not to be cut. I shave my head and face quite regularly and I have only cut my head once in the 6 years or so that Ive been doing it.The shave itself wasnt quite as close as I had expected, but I think my expectations probably needed to be adjusted. I think its probably true in general that a shave with a 5-blade Gillette Fusion is going to be closer than a straight razor. So I cant really complain about that, obviously the shave I got here wasnt as close as the one I usually give myself.Having said that, I think a large part of the price for this service is the experience and the pampering, which truly is quite nice. Apart from that experience, however, it is a high price to pay for a shave that isnt as close as one that I can give myself and that includes accidental minor dermatological procedures.Ill probably give it another shot, but if I get cut again it will be the last time.

I normally don’t do bad reviews BUT I felt that this one is a must. Went in on yesterday 06/24/19 and got haircut by a male stylist. Was pretty impressed by the location when I first got there but then when I went to the restroom I noticed a bug(roach) crawling down the wall near the toilet. So I immediately left out and went to the waiting area. When my stylist called me I told him what I had seen in the restroom and his response was “everywhere in Austin has roaches.” And that was it! When I got to the chair I noticed that there was still hair left on the floor around where I was about to sit and also hair left on the footrest. The stylist did not place a towel around my neck or anything for that matter, when I observed that other customers had towels or at least a neck strip at the very least around their necks. While I was sitting his chair getting my haircut he stopped several times to stop and take a sip of his drink which was left open on the back top of his station. Halfway through my haircut, and this is why I’m leaving the review, he dropped the comb, picked it back up, threw it up on the counter next to his other combs and simply just grabbed another one from right next to the one that he had just picked up from off of the floor. I was disgusted and was just ready for the haircut to be over with. He then offered me a “quick shampoo” in which he quickly washed my hair, but did not condition it whatsoever. Lastly I noticed that everyone was either offered a back massage or just given one and I was not! After the cut I went back toward the waiting area to retrieve my belongings and noticed yet another roach in the hallway as I was walking out. The haircut was not the best and the stylist just seemed to be “off in another zone.” There was little to no conversation and he did not seem very interested in the cutting process at all. At first glance this place looks spectacular, but after experiencing the lack of cleanliness and simply care and effort I am dissatisfied. And the bug problem was just the cherry on top! I will not be back to this location ever.

A great place for a haircut, trim or shave. Very sociable staff. Comfortable chairs and they take their time ensure you leave with the perfect haircut. I will keep coming back here every time Im in Austin.

They refuse to answer the phone. They force you to use their online system which is flawed (i cannot schedule my son and I for multiple services) so I have no choice but to call or go in person to schedule. They need to fix these problems.

Took a friend from Dallas to get a haircut, we were 15 minutes early. Waited next door. Christina started cutting his hair at 12:30. Appointment was for 12. She refused to wash his hair, didnt ask if he wanted a massage. She just said that her 30 minutes time was up. Just dismissed him. Unprofessional. Lazy. I wont be back.

Place is really slow due to Covid, but still open.Everyone wears masks, they sanitize you when you walk in.

I have been following my barber around the various Finleys locations, but he/she shall remain unnamed. Finleys generally does a great job around customer service, making sure there are drinks available, plus the online scheduling is great. The parking in the downtown area can be a PITA, but you can luckily park in the Amli garage during the week and Finleys can validate your parking.I live way south and am willing to drive to this place because the service and my barber are awesome.

I’ve been going to Finley’s for about a year and a half and jumped around barbers a bit until I found Holly T. She is fantastic! I love her honesty about what looks good on me and what would “look too douchey”. Not only does she do a great job with my hair, she is a pleasure to be around. I highly recommend Holly to anyone!

Much better than the Lamar location. Im sure some of the female barbers are excellent, but Ive had a better track record with the guys. Would you rather have the ex-Army-barber of 8 years, or the gal from Sports Clips?

Awful experience here. I called in and asked about parking, they told me it was free in the garage - they were wrong. And parking alone cost almost half the price of the haircut! Then, they refused to take responsibility and fix the situation, and the rude girl at the front desk kept blaming others. Isnt it her job to deal with these kind of things?Finleys is an average experience masquerading as luxury. They offer beer, and will give you a 45 second back massage, for example. Their lounge is a waiting room with a tv. Personally, Id rather go to a no frills spot, pay less, and get the same/better haircut. I bet other barbershops actually understand customer service, too.

Staff was nice and friendly but services were worse than a Supercuts. The “clean” shave on my head basically ignored the sides of my head which I had to shave once I got home. Then the barber doing my beard did a nice job on the trim but just skipped most of the services listed in the booking I made. Not anywhere I’ll be returning.

Gentlemen, you MUST try this place. I am new to Austin from Las Vegas, Ive tried a few hair salons in Austin but hadnt found what I was looking for. Two weeks ago, I had a chance to speak with the owners of Finleys Barber Shop, Scott and Darren, as part of their inclusion in The Austin Business Journals 50 fastest growing companies. During our conversation Scott asked if I had tried them. I said no, I had planned on it, but when I went online to schedule something they were completely booked. Darren looked at the schedule and found an opening for me with Lydia. Lydia was fantastic. The best part however was when I got home, and my girlfriend told me the haircut made me look 5 years younger! I now have my new Austin barber, thank you Lydia, see you again soon! If you havent been into Finleys, you are missing out. Just give them a try, just once, you wont go anywhere else, ever again!To Scott and Darren, thank you, it was truly a pleasure meeting you both. I love that classic barber shop feel combined with modern day salon amenities that you have created. Awesome place to stop in, relax and get a good haircut. Its within walking distance of a lot of offices downtown, so its really convenient. Holly has been my favorite so far, she was great.

The last few times, i have had to wait 15-20 minutes past my appointment times. The last time i went there, I specifically requested that they start on time. They acknowledged this and did start on time.But the haircut was awful. I didnt say anything then because sometimes it looks weird just after the cut but recovers in a day or two. Nope, it still looks weird. The cut is uneven - less hair on the sides and a lot of hair on top and front. I look like a monkey.The hairdresser also did not note my hairstyle before the cut. I came in with spiky hair and obviously i preferred that. She put some terrible glue like gel on my hair and styled me with a combover fitting for a school kid.I thought about calling them to re-do it but I read in another review that they dont appreciate it and dont really fix it. Besides, my hair is very short now and they could simply make it worse. Not worth paying $30 plus tip.

It took a few visits to Finley’s before finding a barber I wanted to stick with. I am now a repeat customer of Mitchel, and he absolutely crushes every haircut. My favorite part is that we don’t talk about anything except my hair.

I went to get a haircut while I was in town for business. Made it very clear I wanted a close trim on the sides (even specified what razor attachment length to use) and to not touch the top as Im growing it out.Flash forward 30 minutes. The very top in the front had been chopped down to about 1.5 inches (it was around 4 when I went in there) and my hair got longer as you went back towards my crown.I didnt realize how bad the cut was until I got to my hotel room and washed everything. I would have marched down there to demand a refund but they had closed and I flew home the next morning.F¡A DIFFERENT BARBER SHOP!

PLEASE READ:Place is a joke.. Overcharged haircuts for mediocre service.. I’d highly recommend going somewhere else for a haircut...So basically was visiting a friend close by while on vacation and needed a haircut.. Place appeared to be legit. Boy was I dead wrong. Totally my mistake..Had to tell the damn barber 3 times to fix my fade and just screwing up my haircut more. If I’d had been about 5 years younger there’d have been a fist fight in there and a 911 call requesting paramedics. But, I kept calm as mad as I was and decided to leave without saying anything to the rude girl at the register other than how expensive their cuts were there compared to the rest of the entire state of Texas...Yeah, please take time to read this and search elsewhere for a completely different barber shop folks...

Finleys is where you go to indulge yourself - its the male equivalent of a day spa, a real barber shop with hot shaves, haircuts, and manicures - the manager (Michelle), the staff (Naomi, Chris, Luz, Javier, and a few other talented barbers and team-mates) provide an exceptional experience. The lounge with overstuffed chairs, big screen TV, coffee, and drinks doesnt hurt either! Five Stars!

The best barbershop. I found them last summer and Ive been coming back since!The guys know what theyre doing, regardless the style. So just let them know what you want and theyll exceed your expectations. Sometimes you cant really describe what you want, but they still make it happen. I love this barbershop! This review is two in one, one for Javier the barber and one for Monique the cosmetologist. The shop itself is great! Clean, crisp feeling, and the back room is a great waiting room with tv and free drinks if you want them.Javier:I usually get my hair cut by Javier and its always fantastic. Hes a great barber and knows his way around a straight razor. Hes pretty quiet when cutting but can get the cut done really quickly, 15 minutes max usually. He knew how my hair worked and noticed my cowlicks easily. He listened to what I wanted and was patient when I asked to change it a little bit.Monique:Javier wasnt in today and Monique was available. Shes much more talkative and rambled a little but nothing irritating or offensive. I gave her a lot of direction with my hair and she listened so she could cut it to my requests. She also did a great job and I would definitely go back!

I needed to get a beard trim at the downtown location. I’ve had great things to say about other locations but downtown completely changed the way I see Finley’s. I walked in to an empty barber shop, was told they didn’t have time for me without even asking what service I wanted. From what I saw in their reservation screen there was only one appointment scheduled for the next hour and a half. Shocked that they didn’t have time for me I walked out and one of the workers that was smoking a cigarette ask me how everything was. I told her of the situation and she reply’s with, “ They like to say it’s appointment only so that it looks busier.” Thanks for turning away business just because you didn’t feel like it Finley’s.

Completely Satisfied. Make sure you make an appointment, but the results are great! The environment is very comfortable and the location is great (they validate parking for their building btw). Got a great haircut without having to explain myself too much and it is reasonably priced.I will definitely be returning.

I visited this location on a whim as I was on my lunch break. The shop seemed nice and looked very presentable. After talking myself into trying something new, I walked in to the shop to see if I could get a quick haircut. Im greeted and they found an opening for me which was a plus. I get into the chair and at this point im in full blown critic mode. The barber seemed shocked that I was his appointment. The barber (Miguel) was not very welcoming even though this was my first experience with the shop. After cutting my hair for about 20 min, he finishes, doesnt show me the cut in the mirror or give me any indication on how I go about completing this transaction and I had to walk back just to ask his name and say goodbye. The cost of this haircut which consisted of an edge up and (extremely) small taper, which isnt even noticeable, was $44 without tip. I pay for the service as any good person would. I return to work curious about what I just spent $44 and and apparently my service was suppose to include Massaging shampoo, cut and style, hot lather neck trim and rejuvenating neck massage. Includes complimentary edge-out between cuts to keep you looking sharp. I was told none of this and received none of this even after looking at other customers receiving waxes, clay mask treatment and massages. Also they charged me for a mustache and beard trim which consisted of cleaning the hair off my neck and apparently not even touching my mustache. I called the manager of the store to discuss the situation and was told I was given a discount even though I still didnt receive the services that were advertised on their site. She gave me an additional $10 off the price which made the blow a little softer. I had no problem with the price of the cut, my issue lies in not getting everything that was included. All in all I had pretty moderate expectations for this shop, seeing as its in the heart of downtown, they may want to up their barbers customer service abilities for their new clients. The shop is nice and has a very modern vibe, however, I will be not returning to this shop after this experience.

Ive been having my hair cut here for about three months to moderate result. Its a bit more than I like to pay for my simple haircut, but being a block away from my place it was convenient.They put a lot of effort into making it seem like its an old-timey barbershop. Other than the cool guy shining shoes at the front its all pretty transparent marketing and the staff is on par with Super Cuts.Today I had an appointment, was stuck in traffic and called three times to let them know I would be late. The phone went to voice mail each time. I parked and made it in the door just past eight minutes after my appointment. No one was at the front desk. The shoeshine guy suggested I go back in the lounge and wait. After couple of minutes the receptionist came back and told me I couldnt get my haircut today because I was more than ten minutes late. I mentioned that I had called three times and she just dismissed it as their phones were having problems in a very blase and arrogant tone. I told her I only neededa trim, she said they could clean up my ears and neck and that was all. Mind you, my actual haircut is usually all of 15 minutes. 15 minutes that I pay $40.00 for.Due to her arrogance and lack of accommodation, Ill never go there again. And so they have lost about 1k of annual income from me.Bottom line, is that if youre the kind of effete ponce that likes to have a low grade stylist apply beard butter to your scraggly whiskers and is enraptured by the thin veneer of vintage trappings, this might be the place for you. If youre someone who just wants a decent haircut at an honest price with friendly non-pretentious people you might want to look elsewhere.

Went in for a beard trim this past weekend before date night with the wifey. Just wantedto get the fly aways and a little shape up. Came out with with my beard mangled and not straight. Had to go back in because one side of my cheek was not even touched and the lines were not straight. Going somewhere else to have it fixed. Many months of growth cut off. Not happy!!!!!

Consistent and very affordable! No BS scheduling appointments with over priced primadonas. No attitude!!! Just great folks. Sounds crazy but it actually feels really good when I walk out the door. Dont feel like Ive got sucker tattooed on my forehead!

Ask for a short haircut? Get a short haircut. Ask for a longer haircut? Get a short haircut. Ask if they heard you? Get an even shorter haircut. This place is a powerhouse for traditional, short, mens hairstyles. If you dont want that, then you are mistaken because thats what everyone wants—duh. Under the try anything twice rule, I will not be returning for a third visit.

Its ok. haircut fine i asked the guy for a full service late in the day. haircut came out ok but was needing some more attention in the back. message i paid for was like 30 secs. idk the guy was tired but i felt kinda bad

Good haircut. Dont get a manicure here. Just go home and cut your own, as that is all they do.

Best haircut Ive gotten in years. Called at 9:22 on a Saturday morning and was in the chair with a talented barber/hair stylist by 9:30. I will definitely be returning.

One of the worst haircuts Ive ever guy. The barber didnt understand the shape of my head and not just that but the cut was different from one side to the other. A friend recommended me that place but one guy that was busy for the next three weeks. I guess he should be good but the pne I took...never again!

Decent but overpriced haircuts, poor service. There are lots of amenities to the place but I made one appointment and still had to wait 20 minutes for service, made another appointment that was cancelled on me because I was 1 minute late. Hairdressers/barbers are fine but I was never really amazed by what I got. Not going back, would not recommend to a friend.

Great haircut and great experience. The waiting room has drinks and a Galaga machine. The haircut I got is just right, neck shave, hot towel on my face, shampoo, and a neck massage all for $30

I cant say enough good things about this place. The barbers here really know how to take their time and cut hair. You definitely get what you pay for. Also, the free beer while you wait is my favorite part.
