Birds has not let me down so far. I generally cut my own hair and Im very forgiving to barbers but Birds always does me right and I leave satisfied.

Im 27 and like to pretend Im still cool with friends who do the same. The coolest thing is to find some amazing, one-off barber shop that kills it. Im too lazy for that, so I go to Birds. Birds barbershop, so you dont have to tell your friends you went to Great Clips.

I went to Birds for my first haircut in a while due to an important upcoming business meeting. I had my haircut by Natalie and from now on I’m not going to anyone else. She was professional, helpful, fast and thorough. Turned my increasingly shaggy mop into a good-looking and professional hairstyle in no time at all.

Today I had Camilla cut my hair. Im 28 with a receding hairline and have cut my own hair for the last 10 years, so I didnt even know what to ask for. She was super helpful, gave me honest opinions, knew what would look good, and did an awesome job (even gave me input on how to style it). My hair still is what it is, but she absolutely maximized what Ive got and Im really happy with it. I think this is my 2nd ever Google review so I wouldnt be here if I didnt mean it.

Excellent service. Very covid safe. The barbers give you the exact haircut youre looking for. Ive been here twice so far and it was only on the second time i was here that the ladies clippers sliced my neck up. That only happens when they dont thoroughly clean their clippers, but the lady assumed i didnt know that and just told me i had really dry skin. Other then that, great service!

Seriously have lost appreciation for this place; all the best stylist have gone. Do they take continuing education to make sure their up to date with the cuts?

I had not recieved a haircut in many years and tried Natalie at Birds on 183.I was tired of my long hair and wanted a bob. She was patient and showed me a few lengths before ending up with a bob. I loved it! It was a little shorter than I had wanted but knew it would grow out.The next day a family member pointed out it was crooked on both sides. It definitely was, I just hadnt noticed.I called Birds and Natalie trimmed it out even on both sides. I mentioned being slightly nervous it was shorter than expected but was fine.Fast forward 3 months later, went in for a trim. Natalie was making sure we didnt go too short bc she remembered I WAS CONCERNED the previous time.Well, I was mainly concerned about the unevenness, I reminded her thats why I actually came in, although she seemed to remember the length, not crookedness. By the way she was speaking to me, I could tell the blame was being put on me. It was then I realized she was seeing me as a difficult customer. I was a little embarrassed so tried to reassure her I loved the hair short, we chatted the whole time, she is very nice but I could tell she was not taking e ownership with how crooked she left me. She was conservative on the trim and I asked her to go shorter.When I got home, I took a shower and realized that my hair was significantly longer on one side. Ugh, so embarrassed, did not want to go back, actually thought about leaving it but I knew I had paid and it needed to be fixed.I felt bad having her have to fix my hair for a  second time, embarrassed and knew this would probably be the last time I went to her.Going back in the girl at the front desk gave me an attitude, oh yes, youre here to get your edges fixed again.. This is the first time I had experienced a gretting like this, I knew Natalie had said something.I still did not want her to feel bad or think I was a difficult customer so I just told her, maybe I wasnt sitting up straight, sometimes I dont sit up straight...She said my hair just laid that way. She ended up cutting quite a bit on the longer side. Before she finished, I wanted to confirm, so are you saying it wasnt longer on one side?She responded, maybe you werent sitting up straight barely on one side. In the future, I may not be the best fit to cut your hair.I politely said okay, smiled and left. I have never written a review before but the fact that I was trying to spare her feelings, put the blame on myself and then she put it all on me is unacceptable.My hair was crooked, more than once. Even though she evened it out, she was denying it, I have pictures, I confirmed with others before going in. Overall, having to go back to times to get an even cut and be blamed for it was not a positive experience.

I got an awesome fade from Johnnie, not to mention great conversation. Going to Birds is always a relaxing treat.

I’ve been getting my regular haircut at Bird’s for a long time now, probably going on two years. They’re a group of really great people and they give me the best service every time I walk in. Their covid guidelines are strict and I really appreciate that. They check your temperature, everyone is mandated to wear their mask, and the barbers ensure that it’s a safe environment to get your haircut. If you’re looking for a specific barber, check out Raven. She’s been my barber for the past two years and she’s fantastic. She gives me amazing cuts and we always have a great time talking and catching up. 10/10 you should check this place out for your next cut

Hey so I got my haircut there almost a week ago. Isamara got my hair just right. I had some problems with payment and got effed by my bank though, but they trusted me enough to let me leave to take care of it. I took a little longer than expected, but I made sure to get these guys paid.I had to throw a fat tip my stylist s way though for such an amazing job.You guys are great!

This is probably the worst hair cut experience Ive ever had. First of all I sit down in this girls chair and the first thing I do is show her pictures and explain to her that I do not want the length on top touched especially in a specific spot because I have a cowlick there and I have had bad experiences in the past with people cutting it too short. She ends up using clippers and texturizing sheets all over my head and my hair was more than long enough! I had been growing it out for months! After its all said and done she gives me a mirror to see the back. I hadnt even let her touch the front at this point. I began to tear up and she could obviously tell I was unhappy and because its getting close to closing she basically tries to rush me out of the chair and proceeds to tell me well you shouldnt show people those pictures and If you dont like it then my bad she even had the nerve to blame it on my hair texture..which Ive never had a problem with in the past. At the end up all of this I still ended up having to pay for having my hair hacked to pieces! There is absolutely nothing feminine about my hair now. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!

Got my hair cut by Katie yesterday, she did an awesome job on my shortcut and I absolutely love it. The staff are following protocol, taking your temp when you come in, wearing masks, and making customers do the same per CDC guidelines. Katie also told me that every staff member takes their temp when they come in for work every morning which made me feel a lot more comfortable getting my hair done there. 10/10 would recommend.

This place is rad! It looks like a barber shop but feels more like an art gallery. The person cutting my hair was Steph. She was super cool. She asked me questions about my style and look. She made sure I got the hair cut I wanted. She made my hair look great! She was awesome conversation to boot! 10/10 would recommend!

Birds was amazing! I got a super cute fresh cut and walked out feeling powerful and confident.

All stylists I had a chance to meet are great people and very talented. The hosts though for some reason always make me feel like they could do a little better. I also think it is a little expensive. Still, I give it 4 stars just because the stylists are awesome!

Birds is reasonably priced with great staff who know what theyre doing. LGBTQ friendly. Parking is kinda terrible but not impossible. Overall great place. I was worried about finding a good hairdresser when I moved back to Austin since Id been seeing the same one for years when I lived here before but lost her contact info when she left her salon; I originally went here on recommendation of another friend in the queer community. Raven has swiftly taken the previous artists place as my go-to.

Tana is awesome! This place is really inexpensive and the staff is really friendly and helpful.

The food, atmosphere, and service were top notch. The only critique that I have concerns their chips and (not) salsa policy. They offer a variety of excellent salsa choice, they are not complimentary. We ordered thesalsa boat and tried a little bit of everything. That was an additional $6. They need to offer a house salsa and then charge for the more exotic offerings.

Heather is amazing! It had been years since I had my hair professionally cut but I am happyto say that I found a stylist who really knows how to deliver. Thank you so much Heather for not only giving me the best cut I have had in awhile but all around making it a great experience!

Excellent stylists here. Always the perfect amount of chatty. Never had a bad haircut here. Fun and free arcade games are available while you wait and theyll serve you a beer or water while you wait. Make sure you call ahead or book on the mobile app the day of your haircut. They dont do appointments further in advance than same day.

Professional barbers who will work with you on what hairstyle you want, offer you hair suggestions in a constructive manner, and consider your comfort on every minute of the cut. The price is worth it!

Came for a haircut and paid full price for a bad experience. Hair marauder didn’t ask any real questions about how I wanted my cut. Even provided the “treasure map” of a great haircut from my previous Stylist from Birds I had them write it down. This lady spent more time reading the few things on the card from previous stylist than she did mauling my hair. Could have got this cut at Super Cuts for a third the cost of this. Been coming coming to Birds for over 7 years because they are that good. Today has me reevaluating that.

Lmao literally chopped off my hair unevenly - when you ask how do you keep your hair? I expected the haircut to be cut accordingly. Instead, the lady who cut it decided to take a chunk off my right side of my bangs and leave it completely uneven. Nothing special and Im not sure who the 5-star review people saw, but Im never going back. $36 bucks for a supercuts quality cut. Love it.

Everyone at Birds is great. Always nice and accommodating. Knowing they are inclusive is huge for us and helps tremendously. Their stylists are on top of trends and techniques and can always work well with my kids.

Ive never received a bad haircut here ever, and Ive been getting my hair cuts here since the fall of 2015. The staff is always friendly, and you get a complimentary beer while you wait! You can make appointments, or simply walk-in.

Got my undercut and longer hair cut by Claudia! She’s so great and super easy to chat with! She also cuts my husbands mohawk, which turns out wonderful every time! Definitely call ahead or get their app to book. They only book day-of appointments, but it’s never been a problem!

Love this place. Definitely hip, with free retro games and a complimentary beer. Theres rarely a long wait, though.Basically, all the employees that work there are friendly and fun. They also arent afraid to give their opinion, which I love. My hair always looks great.Its a little pricy, though they give a student discount (or at least they used to). You get what you pay for, though.

Visited Austin last week and did not have time to go to my regular barber before traveling to Texas. Glad that I stopped here and paid a little extra than what may be considered an average price for a haircut for a guy (avg maybe be $20) because the price + tip was worth it. Hairdresser was very nice and did a great job.

Just got a haircut from Birds yesterday. Malia did an excellent job and really took the time to get it just right. I learned more about styling my hair/beard in 25 minutes than I ever have anywhere else! I will definitely be coming back and I cant recommend this place highly enough! Oh, and did I mention you get a free beer while you wait! < Awesome

Good haircuts, free beer, crazy busy though. Make sure you book an appointment ahead of time or go there during the week between 1 and 3pm.

Great service. Once (out of 4 times going so far), I had to wait about 30 minutes past my appointment time to get started. Was slightly annoyed, but they gave me 20 percent off because of the wait and an additional 20 percent coupon even though I didnt complain about the wait. Now, its the only place I get my hair cut.

My son is always happy with his haircuts here, and I appreciate the cold drinks they offer on a very hot day.

It wasnt exactly what I wanted so I called and they told me to come back in at no charge to fix it. They were extremely nice and understanding and fixed my hair and got me out in time for my plans at 6!You rock birds!!! Keep it up

My simple haircut was fine, but the lady who cut it seemed like she was in a hurry to get me out. She didnt trim my sideburns and didnt even give me a mirror to see the back of my head until I insisted. I dont normally pay this much for a haircut, and this experience did not encourage me to do so again.

You know you found a good barbershop when your 9-year-old WANTS to get his hair cut, and you are like, oh cool, I love hanging out there while they cut his hair! Free Q-bert, great reading material, even a free beer if you are so inclined! Plus yummy tacos at Papalote next door, or Soup Peddler if its chilly out. Scotty does a great job with the kid cut, really listening to what HE wants, so he feels empowered and part of the process. Not the cheapest kid cut in town, but definitely worth $20 for the extra comforts and great stylist.

I requested someone who can do fades for a comb over hairstyle particularly well and was recommended a barber named Nick. When I first saw him, it looked like he was coming from a Halo tournament or something. He was late for my appointment and was in a rush. After I told him what I wanted, he started chopping large amounts of hair when I only asked for a trim on top. I felt like I was at a Supercuts. I was just in awe, I didnt even know what to say when it was done in under 12 minutes and just paid and left. Later I realized there were parts of my sideburns that he totally missed. I was so scarred I just tried to cut it myself. For almost $30, I wont be coming here again.

I brought my boyfriend here for a $25 haircut. His hair was done so poorly, I drove right over to Fantastic Sams to get it fixed. He had uneven chunks all over, his bangs were crooked, and he had a giant puff of hair in the back. He looked like a joke. The people were nice, but there stylist was awful. Ill never come back. I could have done a better job cutting his hair. On the bright side, the stylist at Fantastic Sams was fantastic.

My husband and I walked in a few minutes before closing and the first thing the guy and the girl said was were closed, no other greeting. Not a problem I said, I just want to know how much a haircut is. The girl repeated herself as though I had not heard, we are closed. I was somewhat taken back and let them know I understood they were closed, I just want to know how much a haircut is since I was planning to return during open hours. They pointed to the board, simple haircut 24 bucks. Ok, overpriced and poor customer service...dont think Ill be coming here for a haircut.

Honestly if I could give no stars, I would. First of all, the haircut I got was nothing even remotely close to what I asked for. Second, the person who cut my hair was in such a rush to get out of there that she did not even finish lining me up nor show me the end result. She simply said “you can go. You’re done” and let me off her chair. It was a terrible experience. I do not think I will be returning.

They do good cuts, but are expensive and always full. Parking in this location can also be annoying.

Damn I love Birds Barbershop!!! I have been going to Birds on East 6th for a couple of years and had great experiences with Justine and Cassie -- always!! So I was so happy but a little apprehensive about finding the Birds on Anderson Lane and Hwy. 183. But they have exceeded expectations with my kinky, swirly hair and my fussy quirks. Everyone I have encountered has been wonderful and all have done a marvelous job. But a big shout out to Haley Bates who gets me. I have never felt so secure in getting a haircut!!

Used to really like this place but today Ashley decided to pretend shes never seen my hairstyle before and made the whole conversation as awkward and embarrassing as possible. Waited 20 minutes and left without a haircut.

I always go to Birds, just call and make an appointment because they get really busy. Go at an odd time so your barber is fresh, it shows when theyve been at it all day.

I will NEVER go here again. I dont recommend coming here for color. I went in to get blonde highlights and when I finished, my hair was green and bright yellow on the top, and on the bottom it was gray and purple, this was after she had retoned it since it was almost the color of a banana on the top. My hair was fried and it was falling out in chunks. I called them and got it re done complimentary. They were all very nice but after the second time getting it done I leave with bright yellow and orange in my hair. A couple days later when I wash it, its still orange and yellow and now the bottoms are turning green. GREEN!!! After multiple deep conditioning and hair masks my hair is still falling out. I will never go back there again and I will never recommend going to get color done from this store. This was the worst place I have ever gone to get my hair done.

The stylists are always very attentive to what I need done and handle my kids haircuts as well. Love all the birds locations but this is the closest to my home.

They didn’t even fade my hair when that was the haircut I asked for and they left shaving gel all over the back of my neck that I didn’t see til I got to the car.
