Dave, Nathan and Ernie were fantastic to deal with. With many old cars, things dont always go as planned. Nathan took the time to get the job done correctly but only billed me the estimate. Ever heard of that from a mechanic before? They took the time to explain and show me what was going on, which I appreciated very much.Ive already sent a friend over and will continue to recommend them. Thanks for the great service guys!
Good communication. Very fair price - later confirmed as on the low side by a client of mine who is a mechanic. They did exactly what they said they would do, didnt charge a fortune, and were very good at communicating what they found as they worked on my car. I recommend this business.
This is a dishonest mechanic.1. They lie about the cost of parts to inflate your bill. For instance, they told me it would cost $750 to replace a catalytic converter. I got a second opinion and three other local mechanics offer this service for $230-$300. In addition, they told me an O2 sensor for a Honda civic cost around $150, when in fact, they cost between $38-$80.2. They intentionally misdiagnosis problems to get you to spend money on unnecessary repairs. When I got the second opinion on replacing the catalytic converter, the other mechanic mentioned that airflow was unhindered and the catalytic converter was unrelated to the problems I was experiencing.3. They told me that my car would be fine to drive around until I got around to replacing the catayltic converter. A reputable mechanic informed me that the real issue was the timing belt, and driving around like that was damaging my car further. I suspect Dr. Daves wanted me to cause this damage, to create more business.Dont go to this shop, not only will they overcharge you, they wont even fix your problem.
These guys are very honest and do a great job! I moved from Charlotte last year and had to find a new mechanic for my BMW convertible and Land Rover Sport. These guys have been great! I am glad I found them......
I have had my car serviced at Dr. Daves for years. Theyre honest people and solid mechanics. My Jetta is still on the road thanks to them. You will get straight talk and an honest opinion before the work is done, and its done right the first time. Im hard pressed to think of anything bad about this shop, only that theyre often busy so its hard to squeeze in at short notice. Highly recommended!
After bouncing around mechanics in Asheville for the past 15 years including dealer service centers, chain shops, and a half dozen other independent mechanics I found Dr. Daves. There has never been a single time in the past two years that I have lamented or regretted taking my business to these guys. Theyve been sharp, highly skilled, honest and very strategic with servicing my high-mileage cars and I cannot recommend them strongly enough, nor can I express how grateful I am for the stellar service they have, and continue, to provide me. Dr. Daves is representative of the best service Asheville has to offer, without a doubt.
Second time visiting Dr. Dave and his mechanics are excellent. If you have an older mercedes benz going anywhere else is just disappointing. Their labor is reasonable in comparison to the alternatives and they really make sure youre car gets what it needs while informing you of other issues that may come. I highly recommend this place!!!
Were from out of town on vacation. Four minutes to closing we were able to have our vehicle looked at, fixed, and shown what was wrong. Super friendly, and helpful.
I took my truck there after my check engine light came on. One guy looked at it for a few minutes and told me what the problem was. I made an appointment to have it worked on. When i brought it in at my appointment time he told me I had an hour wait to have it DIAGNOSED. when i asked about the diagnosis from before he told me that it would need further diagnosis and that i would be charged for it. They had no loaner or person available to take me back home as they needed to keep my car all day although I booked an appointment.Ive never been to a mechanic that charges for diagnosis/estimates. I made two trips over there and got 0 results. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of these guys. they dont do what they say and are very disappointing. the rate for labor is the same as the Toyota dealership. At least there they have a shuttle and free diagnosis. All in all a very disappointing experience... Thanks for nothing Dr., Dave
Best place i have ever taken my van to. They do a great job explaining whats happening and awesome job at fixing it!
My BMW went in to have a wheel bearing replaced (the second theyve done for me.) It was finished in a timely manner (within a day) but upon picking it up I noticed a squeak coming from the wheel they worked on. When asked to look it over, I was told that there was probably a pebble lodged in my caliper and they could go ahead and replace it for me. 2 days before, after the pre-maintenance checkup I had been told my back brakes were fine and wouldnt need replacement. As my rim collects brake dust (rotor grindings) and I listen to the squeak every... single... day, at every stop light and in every parking lot; Ive decided to find a new mechanic. Which Ill be doing much sooner than I would have liked.
These guys are great, helped me with my 20 year old bmw. Fair labor, thorough, and all around good guys.
Very good communication and relaxed atmosphere. Mechanics are very down to earth and not grumpy (except one) or ignorant. Overall, intelligent and competent staff. Ive had a good amount of work done by them and have been fairly pleased with all of it. Not cheap, but none of them are. Very knowledgeable with old Mercedes, Volkswagen, Subaru and diesel vehicles (they seem to know enough about newer ones, too). Familiar with bio-diesel and vegetable oil conversions. Nice waiting room/lobby. Bathroom has plenty of TP, PT, and plunger. They offer a free 30 minute diagnostic. They have worked on my 1982 VW Vanagon Diesel, 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback, and 1996 Ford F250 Diesel. All seems to be holding up well.
They replaced an alternator in my Volvo for 1000 dollars and now my suv is runnung rough not even three days later my check engine light popped back on and i found out my transmission will be going out soon the over charged me for my alternater by $150 which i checked prices at other locations and they also had me sign a paper saying that i would not come back and sue huh? Wonder why...
Very bad shop! They coutinued to miss diagnose my car problem, each time sending me home with my car only to have the same exact problem happen again. Finally after 4 or 5 times l took it to another shop who fixed it for $275., in 2 days. After this shop took more than $3000. from me and weeks of my time. lm taking him to court, and his has an Attorney equally as bad as he, that trys hard not to refund any money. BE VERY AWARE OF THIS PLACE !!!
Really like this shop. I spoke with Zach and Dave when I was there and both took the time to listen and work with me on my air cooled VW bus. I particularly like how they are encouraging in regards to my DIY work & offer practical advice rather than try to discourage me and get that $$.I expect to take our VW and Subarus to Dr. Dave in the future.
This place Sucks......
