This was the first time Ive taken my car in to an automotive servicer and felt like no one was trying to sell me parts/services I didnt need or take advantage of my lack of knowledge about cars. The folks at Jack Smiths were incredibly kind, professional, and quick! Im so grateful for their patience and honest recommendations- highly recommend!

They were nice, listened to my concerns, and walked me through what they would do. They came out to the car with me to see if they could hear the same noise I was hearing. They were extremely fast in their service. The car was diagnosed and had the alternator replaced all in the same day. They even waited a few minutes after their closing time so that I could pick up my car as I was running late because I got the bus schedule wrong. All in all, they are very friendly and helpful.

Jacks was hands-down the BEST mechanic shop Ive been to. Kerry took extra time and effort to keep me updated every step of the process and explained everything extremely well so I understood the repairs performed. Super friendly and amazing customer service!

Fantastic experience with Jack Smiths Transmission and Automotive. My partner was traveling through Ashville on a road trip when some car troubles popped up. I searched Google for a mechanic with good reviews and Jacks had the most authentic positive experiences - for good reason! They got her in quickly and were honest in their diagnosis. She raved about how kind they were and how authentic and genuine there service was. They even put the car back up on the lift to show her what they did and what they were seeing. Friendly, honest service at fair prices! My little Corolla had sprung a bad oil leak that was messing up all sorts of stuff under the hood. Tom fixed it right up within a single day and kept me posted the entire time about what he was doing. He reassured me that everything he fixed or offered to fix was stuff my car had needed for a while. It runs better than it has in years now. Thank you all so much for your help!!!

Went to get my clutch replaced, had to bring my car back 3 times because they could not replace a CLUTCH at a transmission shop. He wont just give me my money back and says I have no proof that the clutch over heated and cause me to wreck and have a neck whiplash. The proof of bringing my car back 3 times and they said they were done the 3rd time I asked the owner if he drove it for more than 30 mins to assure it will not over heat he said “no need to there was no hiccups” (after the 3rd time fixing it)

Tom and his team at Jack Smith’s are really terrific to work with; straight forward, good follow up and communication, fair prices, very responsive. My first time there, and they figured out the strange sounds were from a failed transmission mount. They ordered the part quickly, changed the low oil too, for a very reasonable price, and in 24 hours I had my car back in tip top shape. Great folks too! I will take my car there with any issue from now on. Love these people.

Jack Smith’s Transmission has been the most positive experience I’ve ever had with an auto shop. My car is prone to breaking down, and several times I have had to make last minute appointments for various issues. Each time, the shop is over-the-top accommodating and extremely efficient and honest with their diagnosis and repair at the lowest costs I’ve ever encountered. I once asked them to replace a part and when they discovered it had a bit more life in it...instead of replacing it or leaving it without my knowing and making the money off of it regardless, they were honest and straightforward and left it be, providing me with a thorough explanation as to why they made that decision.I am continually blown away and so grateful for the courtesy and respect they show me. If you’re in search of the best shop in Asheville...in terms of general repairs and maintenance, I can not recommend them more highly. Give them a chance and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

The best experience Ive had in an auto shop. Kerry was very friendly, welcoming and informative. He walked me through my questions and concerns. I could tell he genuinely cared for my car and respected me. Most of the time when I go into auto shops, people treat me like I dont know anything and are often times off-putting, but Kerry was the opposite of this! I will definitely recommend this shop to everyone I know and I recommend this place!!

We first began taking our vehicle to Jacks Transmission last year due to a very long time friend referring us there. Its one of the few places Ive trusted. Especially in the trying plague situation we are all living in, we really need to know who to trust.Unfortunately today we had a deeply disappointing experience. I needed to have the dead battery in my daughter, an NC college students, 06 Camry replaced. With perfect faith & confidence we headed straight for Jacks. I didnt even ask what it would cost but assumed they would call with an estimate. That was clearly my second mistake.Well it turns out, $272. was the total for a battery and wiper blades. After I paid the bill & reflected a little more, I checked in with a couple of other friends who agreed it was absolutely too high. They encouraged me to call back and ask why.So I did call back and requested Kerry walk me through the billing. The battery alone was $168. labor was only 3O min. @$48 (titally reasonable). I asked if they usually call the customer with an estimate before proceeding with work. He kind of chuckled and said, only if thats what were asked to do.So, its well known we are in the middle of CV19 and many families are out of work. It would have been professional, appropriate, lets say even considerate, to call and confirm that I was indeed willing & prepared to purchase the $168 battery rather than a more economical one.Before we brought the Camry in Kerry also made it clear their shop had been suffering under the conditions of CV19 in lack of patronage. Unfortunately Im certain all these ingredients allowed for a glaring breach of integrity resulting in predatory pricing. Ive learned my lesson & will no longer recommend or seek Jacks Transmission for any of our three vehicles services again.

Refused to even look at my vehicle when I called in because they dont have the time to do electrical work. If its not quick and easy they dont want to do it.

I took in a truck I was thinking of buying for a pre-purchase inspection. The guys were extremely accommodating - squeezed me in right before a holiday; they were also very respectful and informative. They showed me everything they were doing, talked me through everything the car might need, and even helped me establish the value of the vehicle to make sure I got a fair deal. I actually had fun being there in the shop. Ill definitely be using them in the future for my auto needs!

Everyone here was courteous and straight forward. My clutch was repaired quickly (two days) and at a fair price for the job. I felt like they were more interested in making sure my car was fixed correctly with quality parts than making a quick buck. The initial estimate they gave me was exactly what I paid when my car was repaired. I would not hesitate to recommend Jack Smiths to friends/family or to return myself.

Before these two businesses merged I had my car serviced by one for transmission problems and the other for a timing belt which had broken. Both were great service and I was very happy with the level of customer service, the repair and the price.Now together as a single business they make a terrific combination of skilled auto repair specialists who can handle all of my automotive repair needs.

We live in Raleigh, NC. Last week my daughter and her boyfriend were visiting from London. They borrowed our 2004 Jeep for a trip to the mountains. Unfortunately, it started overheating and they were lucky to get to Jack Smiths just as they were closing. Being as the car was very hot, there was nothing that could be done at that time. They took them to a hotel for the night.Next day they checked the car out and found that the only issue was a failing radiator cap. They refilled the antifreeze, fitted a new cap and then test drove for 10 miles to ensure there was no other problem. The charge reflected the antifreeze, cap and only 1 hour of work, even though, according to my daughter, two of them worked on it for over an hour and also acted as taxi to the hotel.My daughter has very little idea about cars, and it would have been very easy to have sold her new hoses or even a new radiator. These guys are clearly honest and provided great customer service.Thanks Kerry and Tom.

I had my Lexus transmission rebuilt at Jack Smith and now it shifts like butter. Not only did they exceed the estimate on time, but were under the estimate on cost as well. I was visiting Ashville for a company event, and my transmission was slipping and I was sure I had ruined it. After taking a coworker to the airport at 3 am my car barely made it back up the hill to my airbnb. I found Jacks on the internet and was happy to see that they were close by and had great reviews. I also reached out to some of my local coworkers and they also recommended Jacks Transmission.I came by their shop first thing in the morning, and although they already had a full day scheduled, and realizing I was from out of state and trying to drive back home that day, they worked me in. The service was professional and friendly and after diagnosing my vehicle was low on transmission fluid they got me back on the road by noon. Tom even said, when you get home call and leave a message that you made it back so that I know you got home ok. This small request made me realize that I was not just another sale, but that the team at Jacks truly cared to give me the best service with the professionalism and know how to back it up! JST&AS did a great job rebuilding my transmission and it runs like a top now. It wasnt cheap but I believe they charged my fairly for the parts and labor. Tom is a personable guy and the customer service was pretty good.

All other shops, including the dealer, only offered a full transmission replacement. Jack Smith was the only certified repair tech. Saved over $1,000.

Brought my BMW X5 to have it worked on had a lot of codes and issues they were not able to fix it Butler fair and honest did not take my money and help me set up a wrecker service most shops would have took my money left me with a broke car and no way to get it home I will say this shop is honest and if I ever have another issue I will bring it to them
