Do not live here. The service and communication from the staff is terrible. My brother signed the lease in early July and confirmed his move in date to be mid August. When he arrived to the apartment after spending 15 hours flight from Asia and 3 hours on the shuttle, he found the building locked, no one at the office and the unit which he has been paying the rent for is not available. Finally he found someone and was told the unit is still under construction and wont be ready for another 45 days. He was asked to stay at Hampton Inn for two nights. We called the leasing director Lindsey Turner but never got a call back. We are shocked that this problem was never communicated prior to his arrival. Further more, despite the fact that he is not able to move in to the unit on time, had to stay at a hotel much smaller than the unit and the inconvenience of having to move back and forth when the construction is over, we were told that there would be no compensation and there is nothing they can do.Very disappointing experience. The entire experience
The lodge is an awesome place to live! I’ve lived here over a year. I enjoy all the amenities like the pool, gym, dog park! They are always quick to make repairs.
NEVER MOVE HERE!!! The management office uses all kinds of means to charge you a huge amount when you move out. I really tried my best to clean every corner of the room when I moved out and was still charged for an unbelievable amount. This unilateral unfair behavior made me extremely upset, but no one can just stop them from doing it!
I would never recommend this place. If you can, please avoid it. Here is my story: I had a very great experience living in the Lodge during the past four years. However, when I move out, they taught me how they treated loyalty customers. They charged me many hundreds of dollars, just for some scratches on the sofa and chairs made by other residents who moved out more than one year. They put everything on me, but not my previous roommates (2019-2020) nor my new roommates (2020-2021). They just tried to find someone to pay for a new set of furniture.
If possible I would give it zero star. The manager of this place just thinks about how to bully you to get more money from you.On thx giving day, we have water leaking from every single hole on the ceiling. No one here to solve the problem. They just came in hours after, bringing a vacuum and WE DID THE VACUUM ourselves on Thanksgiving Day. They did not have any compensation on that, nor did they have any further response until next Monday. On Monday, a mighty female manager came in, she smell the mold and the wet carpet, blaming our cats on generating the smell. I am 100% sure the smell came from their wet carpet, and we are paying them for the pets living here as well. They have the remodeling company bringing in some really noisy machines. And leave them open, telling us that these will help to dry everything. Well, we cannot use the living room currently, and they have still no compensation on that. Not to mention our higher electricity bill due to the machines. We turned these noisy machines off from time to time, especially during nights, and on weekends since we cannot sleep or take any rest when they are working. On Sunday (today), someone just came in without any notice, then they filed us saying we will be CHARGED for not leaving the machines on 24/7, DAY AND NIGHT, EVERY DAY.I called them to discuss about their rudeness responses, their responsibility of providing us a SAFE and HABITABLE place to live, but that manager continued to accused our REGISTERED PETS, blaming our pets scratches on the kitchen chair, which they definitely will charge us again when we leave, and has nothing to do with this problem. That mighty woman refused to provide us any places to reside, and insists us to keep the machines on all the time, regardless of the noise. That was because, she said THEY PAY FOR THE MONEY ON THOSE MACHINES.They just want money. The service is bad. The staff, just to say the managers who are really in charge of CHARGING you, are extremely rude. They do not admit truth, they just want more money out of your pocket. Be ware. Strongly recommended you not to reside here despite their seemingly good looking ON THE OUTSIDE.Especially if you are international student, who are not familiar with the environment and law here, they like to take advantage of you, and they think you are afraid of or don’t bother of arguing for your own right. And one thing to mention, if you look at the reviews, you can see that most one star reviews are from the international students. It looks clear that they are discriminating.
I am a current resident and the apartments are nice and the staff is very friendly. On the other hand, the internet is really bad; it is constantly dropping in bandwidth and at like 11 pm each night it seems like it is purposely throttled to the slowest possible speeds. It is almost impossible, at times, to watch a video over 480p in a timely manner.
I lived at The Lodge for two years, first in Building 8 and then Building 10. I loved the fact that it was a fully furnished apartment with individual bathrooms and internet and cable paid for. The upgrades that came in 2020 to my apartment were great too. Maintenance requests were always promptly addressed. The cable wasnt working when I moved in, but maintenance worked on it promptly and even called the Xfinity people in. When Xfinity charged the repairs to my account, Melissa at the leasing office took the initiative to get me the amount refunded. She spoke to as many people at Xfinity as it took, followed up with them regularly, and did not give up till my money had been refunded. These personal touches made living at the Lodge a great experience. I loved the social events at the Lodge. Everyone at the leasing office and at maintenance are super nice and helpful. Especially Lindsey, she became a friend! :-)
I have lived at the Lodge for almost 2 years now and I have had a great experience. Staff always helps me with any questions or concerns I may have and they are pet friendly which was great for my roommate and I as we have a dog. Their rent is also very well priced compared to some other campus housing. I would highly recommend.
I am very happy with the encounters I have had with staff so far. I love how the community photo album makes me feel more connected to my neighbors!
It charges the resident a large penalty without evidence after the move-out.
I have been living at The Lodge going on my third year now! I absolutely love it, and if it weren’t for the staff and this place, my college experience wouldn’t be what it is now. Everyone is extremely friendly and the amenities and rooms are amazing! I love my bedroom and having my own bathroom, there is so much space. The pool is phenomenal and the staff always makes everything look so cute! No questions asked, maintenance will come to your rescue whenever you need them and there’s no place I’d rather live during my college years. It feels like home.
The lodge is a great apartment complex with tons of things to do. They’ve got basketball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball, a pool, and much more. They’re staff is always friendly when you have questions about something and the maintenance crew is always on top of it. It’s very reasonable pricing for everything you get out of it. Would highly recommend.
The experience is great so far. The location is perfect for a Purdue student who has a car. The celery bog being adjacent to the property makes being active easy and enjoyable. The amenities include an awesome pool (during summer months only), computer lab with free printing, and others. The staff is friendly and the activities are awesome. They really try to get residents involved the best ways they can. The rent is fairly priced IMO but the electric costs my roommate and I each between $60-100 on average which is killing us. Overall great place to live!
I have lived at the lodge for 2 years and I have renewed me lease for next year because I really enjoy living there. Having your own bathroom is a huge perk of living here. Everyone at the office is very nice, abs the maintenance always responds in a timely manner. Its a great place to live!
I love all the amenities that the lodge offers here such as the pool, the 24 hour gym, and the volleyball court! Also, maintenance is always super fast and is usually here the same day we put in a request! The clubhouse also has fun activities or have free food sometimes! I’ve had a great experience living here.
I have lived at the Lodge for a year now and it is a great place to be. I love how close it is not only to Purdue campus, but also to Walmart, restaurants, and big roads that take you into Lafayette. The apartments are fully furnished and each room has its own bathroom—which is great for living with roommates during college. The amenities like the access to the trails and the computer room are a big perk! I’m glad I chose to live here.
For those of you who are looking for a quiet place to study and rest. DONT LIVE HERE!!!!! Dont make the same mistake I made!!! Lodge has incredibly bad sound isolation, I can hear every footstep from my upstairs, every word my roommate makes. Their office dont take care of noise complaint and have super slow maintenance (took 10 days to fix my laundry door). After insomniac for two months I have to stay at my friends place, thanks to Lodge now I have anxiety and super sensitive to sound while sleeping.
Ive lived here for a year. The experience is pretty nice. I see some negative reviews, but I havent met any of them. Rooms were renewed in this year or last year, so most of those problems may have been solved. Maintenance requests can be submitted online and they always response within 24h. I love the gardening and also the location which is near a lake.
I absolutely love all the amenities. The staff and maintenance team have been very nice and helpful throughout my experience. Especially now with the pandemic, if you call, they make sure you have access to food and cleaning supplies and are even doing valet trash to make social distancing that much easier. Great service here! The only complaint I have is electric. I live in a 3 bed 3 bath with one other person and our electric is around 100 person per month, and we are very conservative with our usage, but it is higher than I anticipated prior to moving in.
Its a great price for an apartment. Its nice that it comes furnished. Love the appliances. Maintenance always comes in a timely manner when something is wrong! Great location, very close to walmart and not that far from campus!
Just moved in a few days ago and love this place! Much better than I was expecting and would definitely recommend to friends
I lived at The Lodge for 2 years and enjoyed my time living there. Most maintenance issues were taken care of in a timely manner. Any issues with management were handled professionally and relatively promptly. Overall the units are nice and bright and have a neighborhood vibe to them. Located near Celery Bog is also great for running or walking in nature. If you want an apartment with amenities, The Lodge has many to offer, especially given the price. I would recommend The Lodge to someone who is looking for an apartment with a lot of space and amenities and wasn’t concerned with a 5-10 minute drive to campus.
The Lodge on the Trail is amazing! It has great amenities such as a workout room, pool table, swimming pool, cornhole, ladder golf, basketball court, volleyball court, and fire pits. It’s a great complex to live in if you like to have friends over because it is spacious and near lots of outdoor activities!
The worst place that I have ever lived was Lodge, for less than three months living, they charged me $400! I sent dispute letter, without reading, they were on their own way! I have lived in a apt for 3 years, after 3 years they refund all my deposit, but here it is terrifying, especially Lodge, they are looking for ways to bill you more! This is no option to put zero star!
I love to live here, because there are several amenities: 24-hours gym, pool, nice club house with soda and coffee available! The apartments are comfortable, include Roku TV so we dont need cable tv! And plus, the office people are nice and gentle, always ready to help. I will definitely miss this place.
The lodge in the trail is a great apartment complex for students. The location is great is close to campus and Walmart. The amenities are super nice and help to relax and enjoy the summer.
The worst apartment that I have ever been. They will find every way to charge when you are moving out. wish there is a zero star. I have cleaned the room thoroughly before moving out, they still charge extremely high cleaning fee.And I think they are bulling us international student. Just check the reviews and you will find that. And the staff is not friendly at all. I was yelled once through the phone just because I arrived the office on time as we agreed but the one dealing the issue didn’t arrive, so I left . Then in the afternoon I received a call and said that I MUST GO TO THE OFFICE TODAY, I said I am kind of busy that day and can’t go to the office again. Then the staff from the office shouted at me so I just hanged up the phone. When I moved out and sending mails and making calls consulting about the move out issues, no one answered the mail and the staff always rash to hang up the phone leaving you no time to make the issue clear.
I have enjoyed my time living at The Lodge on the Trail so far!! I love the trails available to walk and run nearby as well as the amenities offered.
I moved to the lodge after being at my previous apartment complex for 2 years, I moved here for the size-able bedrooms and private bathrooms. To say the least, from the day my roommates and I signed to the lodge our experience with the leasing staff has been horrible! They first attempted to get my roommates to agree to paying an additional$50 a month to guarantee hardwood floors, which is something that we expressed as a necessity PRIOR to signing given we have a cat. We refused, eventually got in contact with the manager, who stated that she never knew of our pet and we never called to tell her. She said the conversations are “recorded” so I told her to go review our conversation and she would see that we told her months before that we had a cat. After move in I had 2 more horrible interactions with the manager and her staff, confirming the reservations I initially had. 1) my mother sent me a package and accidentally put the wrong apartment number. I discovered this late, and couldn’t intercept the package. It was placed into the wrong locker and then removed and sent to the front office. I got a call from the front office telling me my package was there. I apologized for the mistake my mom made and said I would be in the office a few days later to pick it up as I was out of town. I went into the office about 2 days after, told them the situation making it clear that it was mistakenly put in the wrong locker because my mom put the wrong apartment number. WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING, the staff argued with me regarding their policies of receiving packages and I expressed that I got a call from the front office so it had to be here. AFTER debating with me, one staff member finally went to the back to check and discovered my package, then came out to reprimand me by stating that the wrong apartment number was put, which is the FIRST thing I said when I first went into the office. 2) the second incident was with the manager again, and one of the leasing agents. After her staff made a mistake with my lease renewal offer, I called them to have them correct it (argued with me at first about it before finally LISTENING and accepting that they made an error). Later my roommate and I realized that there was a discrepancy between the lease offers we had received, I called to ask more about this and explain that there was a miscommunication between us when I called a few days before. The manager made it clear that “it was not her job” to clarify to me the existing lease offer that they had prior to honoring a previous one. She also falsely stated that conversations were recorded and that she has reviewed the conversations that I had with her staff. Conversations are not recorded (the regional manager confirmed this), but the leasing staff manager makes sure to threaten and flex this false and incorrect piece of information to her residents as much as she can (I am not the first person she has stated this to). I could get into WAY more detail regarding this situation however, my mother decided to escalate the situation to corporate, which we should never have to do over minor issues that the leasing staff refuses to resolve with EXISTING residents. If you are looking for an UNFRIENDLY, RUDE, IRRESPONSIBLE, ARGUMENTATIVE, IGNORANT front office staff, this is the place for you. They DO NOT promote the living community that they claim and boast about. As the reviews indicate, there is clearly a trend with how the leasing staff treats their residents, and the supposed manager makes sure to set her horrible, unprofessional and childish behavior as a great example to her leasing staff. So unfortunate that these decent apartments have to be tainted by the horrible unfriendly service of the front office staff. 0/5 do not recommend.
I enjoy living at the Lodge! It’s closeness to campus makes for an easy commute. The amenities provided are so helpful for me as a student. I use their study rooms and computer lab quite often!
If I could make this a zero star rating, I would. The lodge on the trail is the absolute worst place a person could live. Their maintenance team comes in unannounced, lets themselves in freely, wears no uniform, and even arrived in my unit while I was wearing nothing but a towel after a shower. I have never felt more uncomfortable. Not to mention, the lodge has charged several of my friends outlandish damage fees to fund their new renovations. I am not one to leave terrible reviews, but for the lodge, I will make the exception.
The Lodge on the trail has been an excellent place to live as a Purdue student. It is close to the campus and Walmart, which is something great. The staff are so friendly and always are willing to help you. The amenities are awesome, gym, bbq area, and pool are perfect to enjoy our free time. Maintenance people are great and the internet is pretty solid. I really enjoy living in this complex !!
I have been living at the lodge for almost a year now and we absolutely love it. The dog park and the walking trails next to the bog are a huge benefit since I have a dog. A lot of us dog owners in the community usually get together in the evenings for all the dogs to play. The staff is very friendly and helpful with any issues that come up. We enjoy getting together with other residents during community events and enjoy the free food as well. If you are an active person or have a pet, the lodge is a great place to live with easy access to campus on the trails.
When you are leaving, you will be charged too much for some unreasonable causes. I have never seen such an apartment.
I wish I could give a zero star. The only thing the office cares about is how you bully you and get more money from you, especially for those international students. Strongly discourage the coming international students to rent their apartment. I am here proposing that we get together to sue this apartment. I have collected some evidences.
I do not recommend this place at all. Most importantly, two of my friends were living there and when they left, they charged them $400 and $700 for damaging the place (as they said), but they had not damaged anything. The $400 one had lived in the place for two months (a sublease).
It’s a nice place to stay but they charge you a lot when you move out for BS reasons. I was living in a 4 bedrooms apartment with other 3 guys. They charged each of us 500$ after we moved out only because of cleaning. We cleaned the apartment before we move out. They do not respond you well when you go talk to them. They bully you and ignore you. Zero respect for Internationale students. There are lots of other places to live in Lafayette and West Lafayette. Stay away from this place!!! BS charges when you move out. You can see from lots of other comments too. Its not just me complaining about it. If you ask yourself, it has an easy answer. They get large deposit from you. Nowhere else does it!!! So, they can charge you anything after you move out. My deposit was 3 times as my one month rent while it is same as rent in all other places..Be aware of some of the positive reviews for the Lodge; most of them are written by their employee or the managers friends.
Everyone has been very nice and welcoming, there has been small complications but theyve been fixed within a few days. I dont know what all the complaining is about. I see most complaints have to do with BIG issues like leaks, which will obviously may take more than a day to repair, or someone has an issue with whoever works up at the office. I moved here from Illinois so I didnt know anyone and they are all sweet. I feel at home here. I see there is probably cleaning fees and theyre expensive BUT if thats the only issue I come across when I eventually move out one day, I think I can deal with that. Some people even have issues with the new renovations... Seriously?! These renovations are amazing. They make me feel even MORE at home! If they have to paint the counter, the counter will smell like paint for a short while. Duh. Not sure as to why that is a shock to anyone. They did no work on the toilet or shower so why would anyone say they were unable to use their bathroom for DAYS? I was using mine as soon as my counter was finished getting painted. Lasted maybe an hour or so. I love this place. Super excited for my next lease with my friends.
The Lodge on the Trail has been a fantastic place to live! Its only a short drive off Purdues campus (5 minutes) and has a bus stop directly in front of the complex. The units have also been remodeled with new floors, carpet, and countertops as well as stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. Washer and dryer are in the unit, so no community laundry! Each unit also comes with a Roku TV which is great for watching Netflix, Hulu, etc. Cable and internet are included, so I can also watch live TV! Maintenance is quick to respond to issues. I had most of my issues fixed within 24 hours of submitting my request. Another thing Ive utilized is their car cleaning port. They have a free vacuum and hose to wash your car! There are no parking passes, but there is substantial parking. I like this because my friends can come over without me having to worry that their car will be towed. The leasing office staff is super friendly and hosts a lot of fun events throughout the year. The free soda fountain and popcorn machine are my favorite, plus the free access to computers/printing (just bring your own paper). There are many good things about this place, and I couldnt recommend it more!
Please dont choose the lodge. You have many more better options. They are unfriendly and irresponsible. You can see from reviews that they only say sorry but do not take any single action to solve problems. NEVER LIVE THERE!
The A/C is so loud, and they even install the AC external units right next to window! How loud it is at night! This is not the stupidest thing the management team did. They just break into your room moving furniture and repair floor whenever as they want without your permission. I’m surprised how people enjoying human rights here!
The staff are friendly. However, they lied about the gift card that they promised to give. I signed the contract under the impression that Ill get a $250 gift card, but they turned out denying it because I was a short term tenant. I emailed three different staff asking question regarding the gift card, and they were all trying to avoid it. So ask so many question as you could before you sign the contract.
I am a Purdue student and Ive been living in this apartment since August, 2018. for the past few months living here, I couldnt find any problems at all.One thing I really like about this apartment is, If you submit a work-order, they send the person within a few hours and the management gives you a call to confirm whether the problem is fixed or not. I am really satisfied. From the previous reviews, they were infamous for charging a lot of money when moivng-out, so I will update this review when I move out later.
Always asking for different kinds of fees. Long living fees... carpet fees(even you paid for your cats and the carpet is scratched by cats)...key fees and etc. Service in 2016 and 2017 was fine, but not is very poor. Not recommend for students.
After go through all the reviews, I found the main problem is the move-out fee. The reviews reported this issue 9 months ago and also recently, which means lodge on the trail apartment did nothing to solve this problem. Thats why you get so many 1 star reviews. If you want more people to live in your apartment, the rating is extremely important. So if you insist on charging so much fee on your customer, just wait until nobody lives in this place. Simple logic.
If there is a no star option, I would like to choose that one. The location is good, outside view is also good. However, the leasing office is totally S**T. Ive been waiting for 4 months for them to come to my room and fix my cracked window glasses. The glass was hit by the tree while the storm is blowing it, so it was not my fault. But the leasing office just kept me waiting for that super long time. They also charged a super high fee on us after we moved out. Furniture quality is definitely LOW, which is totally unmatched with the outside view. With the same price, those apartments at a little more north on the Sagamore Parkway are totally much better than this stupid place. BTW, the gym equipment looks good at first time, however, they are all at a very poor and dirty condition.
Strongly not recommended! To avoid the expensive charge, we spent two days cleaning the apartment before moving out and we even rent a carpet cleaner. However, all these efforts didnt change the result at all! The bill they sent you is way too much. Although the surroundings are beautiful and the maintenance is not bad, I dont recommend you to live here unless you want to be charged almost four month rents.
I like everything so far. Its quiet. The apartment is nice. The clubhouse is awesome not to mention the pool!. The maintenance is quick and fixed stuff that needs to be fixed. So far cant complain
The place does not even deserve a star. Worst place Ive ever stayed. Staff are especially unfriendly to foreigners. There are lots of good rental apartments around Purdue. The lodge is the last place you want to live in. They will try their BEST to create excuses to charge you.
Don’t choose this place. The manager doesn’t respect you or your time. The maintenance is the worst I’ve ever seen. It takes them two days to replace a sink. They shut down your water the entire day and don’t get the job down because they have other “priorities”.
I never had many problems up until move out at the Lodge. I was charged a ridiculous amount because my apartment was not clean, but I left it cleaner than what I got it. Dusty, mold in my toilet, shower stained. They offer a waived security deposit fee so they can get a lease signed, and they can just charge you for ridiculous things when you move out. My a/c also was broken for 2 weeks, and there seemed to be a lot of miscommunication when I needed things. Would not recommend to anyone. Its a rip off.
Maintenances always comes super quick after putting in a request.
My experience has been great and I would recommend this place to anyone that asked about it. The pricing is good for an apartment this size, there are plenty of amenities to utilize, and the staff try to involve as many residents in activities as they can. Every time i go into the office i am greeted with a smile from the staff. They quickly learned my name and when i talk to them they always ask how Im doing and how my day went. The room is great and you could tell it had been cleaned thoroughly I havent had any problems with my roommates and i didnt know them till after I moved in. So if anyone came to me and asked if they should live at the lodge i would tell them yes.
The management is awful. My mail sent to old address there and I called the office. One staff said she will leave the message to the current resident and keep my stuff. The current resident said she already gave something to the office. But today another staff said they will return everything. I asked her did you get my request? She said no. She doesnt know anything even who was on duty yesterday. Be careful! Maybe someone in office not their staffs? I am just thinking a good management should be every staff got the request. And when you asked something you would get the same answer. (She said returning everything is their only policy, even though she changed the answer in the end of the phone call. So confused!) Its acceptable that returning everything is the only policy if Ive been told that. But dont take the request and say you dont know later!By the way, when you moved out that place, no matter how clean your apartment was, you still would be charged something. And when I lived there the internet was very terrible. Moreover, some issue about TV, they just said THEY DONT KNOW.
They will make their renovations without your permissions in summer. The renovations will keep for a long time while you still lived there. Thats so ridiculous cuz we are still residents and we can not use the bathroom and kitchen for almost one-week.Overall, lodge will do what they want without your permission when you are a resident. The WORST and MOST RIDICULOUS apartment I have ever been near Purdue!!!Updated: Writing notification or emails to us does not mean that getting the permission from us. I said, without our PERMISSION rather than without any notification.
The A/C is really terrible,I totally cannot feel any heat in my bedroom,it can only ensures the living room comfortable. Also, the inspection staff never listen to you,she even said that one of my roommate, who is also a girl, has urine on her room floor, which doesn’t make any sense AT ALL! There is no urine it whatever on the floor and her room is perfectly clean.
I have few good things to say about the lodge and a lot of bad things. Ill start with the good. The on-site gym and computer lab are relatively nice and kept in good shape. The staff is generally friendly.Rent is fair (at least it was before they recently increased it).Close to the bog nature area which is nice for hiking and walks. The bad:Maintenance fixes nothing and often close out requests without stopping by or trying to fix things.Several times over my apartment leaked from the floor, windows, and even ceiling, ruining many of my things and leaving an awful smell. The office staff harasses you with emails, texts and door postings constantly pushing you to renew.Rent has increased by $10-20 every year I have been there so plan to move if this place is about cost for you.The apartments are not insulated well and get very cold in the winter leading to extremely high heating bills.Appliances often break or just dont work in the first place.BUGS: spiders, cockroaches, centipedes, gnats, flies... etc. During the summer I kill several insects every day. If youre not comfortable with bugs do not live here.Overall, I am very happy I am NOT RELEASING HERE after putting up with this place for several years.
No recommendation, even through It was fine at the beginning. The Internet. We lost the Internet connection since two weeks ago. I have submitted maintenance requests again and again, no one has came to fix that problem. Im losing my patience. The MAINTENANCE. Our garbage disposal doesnt work after a month. They changed it with a new one immediately. However, they forgot to correctly install those pipes. Water was everywhere that night. And the dishwasher was not draining after weeks. I dont what is coming in the future. The PAYMENT. They also charge you 1.95 for eCheck. Also the electric bills will come with a fee of 4.5 dollar every person every month.BTW, theres only one trash container at the gate. You need to walk 5mins if you are in the fastest building. Its a good exercise for everyday! Your mailbox is not in your building, its right next to the container.Thats a short summary of my three months experience. Guess what, the renewal price they offered me rised by 50. What a surprise!
I lived here for 2 years and everything was pretty good. The apartments are nice and spacious and the amenities were very good (awesome pool). Then a couple months before the end of my lease, I get a very aggressive email stating that I broke the lease by having a dog and must immediately remove the dog and pay a ridiculous fee. But I paid my pet lease the year before and was told it would last my entire lease. So I called them and they said it was an administrative error. No apology for scaring me like that. Then comes move out, ridiculously high cleaning and painting fees. What a scam.
Worst apartment experience ever. Throughout the year they took forever to get around to our maintenance requests. Then moving out, we cleaned for two days and followed their checklist closely. It was so much cleaner than when I moved in and still I was charged for cleaning and charged for things that I said was wrong the first day I moved in. And then they said disputes cannot be made on the phone. They have terrible service all around.
Live here if you want to stay offline. No one is helping with this internet issue for more than a month, have called xfinity for several times, must be a hardware problem but no one is going to solve it.UPDATE two month after the first review:Things does change about the internet. There is still one month to our moving-out date and they start to bothering everyday with the remodeling. And there is no way to negotiate, I was once tried to ask for a reschedule cause I have a online meeting the day they want to install water sink in my bathroom, and was replied impossible and with no sorry no apology. Once you sign the contract, your privacy and your requirement is the last thing they will have in mind. Avoid this place!
1 start for the Walmart that is within walking distance.....Clearly, the managers can do whatever they want with the apartments whether you are still physically living here or not.Look at the pictures. Theses are the exciting innovations they decided to conduct in the middle of May.Hello??? Do you really except that nobody will be here? Or maybe you just dont care whether the residents could use the kitchen and the bathroom. Or maybe, and this might be what you are actually thinking, you can poison everyone with this unbearably stinky, toxic paint. Not that you view any of your residents more than a cash cow.Tell me, whats the point that the lease ends 7/31 and new residents move in on 8/15? Because obviously, you can start cleaning while there are people living in the rooms.LOL.
The manager definitely dont have the ability of empathy, she shut off water for the renovation and force us to eat outside taking risk of the virus, and ask us to shut down windows to help the paint dry faster while the toxic smell of the painting is all over the house.
I really enjoy living at The Lodge. People in the office are nice and try to help with what they can. My apartment has beautiful floor throughout the living room and kitchen.
Love living here! The apartments are super nice and the staff is very helpful and welcoming!
The worst apartment Ive ever seen. I put my own desk on the MY OWN Balcony and they asked me to remove it. Otherwise, theyll charge me $25. They said I violated the regulation, which is placing my own stuff in public area. How ridiculous it is! My balcony is public area????????
Our AC went out CONSTANTLY over the summer so it was often 85 degrees in our apartment. When I moved out (we spent hours cleaning so we wouldn’t be charged) we were charged anyway for “maintenance costs.” Wasn’t impressed with this place.
Be aware of some of the positive reviews for the Lodge; some are written by their employee or the managers spouse. Why should they do that? Because many very frustrated former resident, like me, are giving you our honest opinions here. The reason why I rated this Apartment one start is because there is no zero available. I would strongly NOT recommend anyone live here, especially if you are an international student and you want to save some trouble with the management, as well as your money.Yes, this place used to be quite nice (thats why they received decent rating score IN THE PAST), but last year they changed management, and they are by far the worst people to work with.In July when I was about to move out, I tried to talk about the potential charges with the management, she rejected listening to me, literally shouting at me that I had to pay however amount they charged me.Basically, they charged me for things that I had absolute no control of. I was very respectful to the apartment, and before I moved out, my friend and I spent 3 days cleaning, strictly following their instructions. I was still charged $200+for one roommate (who didnt move out)s stuff that was left in the common area, and $200+ for damages which are a result of natural wear. Altogether I was charged around $500. They charge pretty randomly, and they are not even consistent with their own rules. In addition to these outrageous charges, they show zero respect to their tenants in many ways. For example, they dont care about your privacy. They have numerous inspections and the maintenance would unlock your doors and check your rooms anytime without noticing you in advance.Anyone who are thinking about living here, think it twice. Especially if you are an international or a Chinese student and you would like to know further honest opinions of a former tenant of The Lodge, feel free to massage me and I would be happy to share my experience.
When you move out, they will charge as much as they want. So be CAREFUL to move-in.😡😡😡😡😡😡When I moved in, the carpet was not clean, then when you moved out, they asked you to replace the whole carpet with several thousands dollars😡. PS: if you found the carpet is not clean when you move in, request to change to another room if possible. Otherwise you will pay for the already dirty carpet for replacement for other people. And I do not know whether they will replace the carpet or not, or just want to get enough money 😡.
The staff is super friendly, and maintenance comes to help a few hours after the request is put in. Free parking and lots of resident events in the clubhouse
Clean and Classy, one of the best places in West Lafayette!!! Great maintenance and friendly staff!!! I wouldnt have wanted to spend my time at Purdue at any other complex, top notch!
I feel like people complain over things that are not really that of importance. I lived with 2 other managements before coming to the lodge. For the cost wise its the best in Purdue in my opinion. If you think people here are rude you should try dealing with management on campus. Just talk to them if you have a complaint and stuff they will handle it, i feel that you just need to communicate with the management they are very flexible. Also you just have to pay electricity for living here. So much less bills to deal with. I would recommend this place for families more since real adults know this place is pretty good.
I’ve lived here for 3 years now and I feel like most of the bad reviews are just unfortunate mishaps. I do agree that the maintenance SOMETIMES doesn’t do a very good job and that seems to be mostly when it’s a tougher/more extensive job. Other times with minor fixes I’ve had them come in the day after to fix the problem. The staff is friendly, the location is decent, price is good. The constant nagging to renew is annoying but understandable. Honestly this apartment has been a great home for me and my roommates since we moved in and I’ve loved it. There’s a lot to do with great resources available (pool, grills, fire pits, computer lab, printer, local trails etc.). Don’t let the awful reviews deter you as me and 8 of my friends have lived here for years and have had very few complaints. Just a heads up on move in day we came in and a lot of things weren’t ready but by the end of the day the apartment looked perfectly fine.
Office charges almost $300 when moving out with room being completely cleaned and no damage at all.
My review would take 10 pages just to explain how horrible my move-in was at The Lodge. In brief, my apartment was covered in filth, apparently they had new carpeting installed but forgot to clean my apartment. So there was a layer of filth. The stove/oven was broken, only 2 burners worked. The microwave was rusted with gunk on the bottom. Fridge was missing a shelf. Dishwasher barely worked and was missing utensil tray. Fan in my room had an annoying humming motor (it was an old fan). Tub had black gunk in it (mold/mildew). TV and Internet were not hooked up. Mattress was covered in dust/dirt. Even with all these problems, if maintenance had actually done anything to resolve half of them, I would have been happy. But no, they barely put any effort in, the guy told me fan motors usually make that noise, its an electric motor. Funny, I have never heard a fan whine like that unless it was broken. After the 3rd time asking I finally got a new fan. That was half the size of the old one. They told me I had to install my own cable and internet connections, didnt fix my leaky shower, didnt fix the dishwasher, didnt fix a squeaky dryer. Didnt fix the microwave. They hardly did anything. So I gave up and decided to fix things on my own. I spent MY OWN MONEY fixing things because the maintenance staff didnt. Oh, and the AC/Heating in the rooms is garbage. You need a fan in the summer and a personal heater in the winter, even on nights that arent as cold. Because the air hardly goes into the rooms, it only keeps the common areas comfortable. The only saving grace for this place is the new manager and all new maintenance staff. However, it is too little too late. I even asked for my lease to be ended early because of all the problems I had. I asked politely, send a professional email, all I asked for was a simple resolution. I wasnt threatening or demanding. No call. No email. A week later I get a letter from an attorney telling me I have to pay the rest of my rent. I didnt even ask to get attorneys involved! I do know a fantastic one, he is highly successful and could probably get my entire years worth of rent back plus a little extra. Fortunately, I am a graduate student who is too busy to deal with this and I have better things to do with my time.Moral of the story: Go elsewhere. Anywhere. Even under a bridge. I hate saying that because the current management and maintenance (for the last 2 weeks) have been nice and helpful. I just dont want to see Pierce Educational Properties get another dime.p.s.: I made sure everything in this review was accurate to the best of my knowledge. It does not account for every issue nor has every issue/resolution been noted. Results may vary. There, now you cant send me another letter from one of your attorneys.
I love living at the lodge. Incredible office and maintenance staff. The Lodge is everything I could ever want in an apartment.
Terrible service...worst in W.L.
The management does absolutely nothing to stop residents dogs barking day and night. Some big dog in the northeast part of the complex near Cumberland barks every damned night. Enough!
I really love this apartment. With a really short drive to campus and a pool to take the edge off on the weekends it’s an amazing place to live
Beautiful place to stay, BUT!!! Be really careful when you move out, they will charge you BS fines for a lot of BS reasons
I dont even want to give it 1 star, in fact it deserve negative 5 stars. they will ridiculously charge you whatever they can when you check out, even though you are not responsible for it. The whole things just a hoax!
Decent value, but the staff overcharged me for cleaning after move out and for a key I never received after living here for 2 years. Also I did the initial cleaning myself and I know for a fact the old owner was never charged. So yeah, a bit of a frustrating experience.
Great place to live! Good location, close to campus and walmart. Friendly staff and its great to have a pool, a gym, BBQs, and a movie theatre.
If you want a nice place with a private bathroom and big windows, this is the place for you.Ive lived here for two years and it is the best place (out of three I lived in) in West Lafayette in terms of quality for a reasonable price. I requested the maintenance to fix small things often. Every time they came within 2 days and always left a note about what they have done. Even such things as the AC filter were no problem to get changed. We never had any major problems with the apartment or the management. The management was understanding and if we talked to them, they were willing to help us.Ive never heard about robberies in this complex, but still the management upgraded all locks to secure key fobs, so now its a key-less entry, which also looks cool :)The apartments are relatively new and clean, and luckily I never had problems with noisy neighbors, except our downstairs Chinese neighbors who like to play basketball in the apartment -_-||The carpets in most units are, I believe, Berber carpets, they are not very soft, but they are much more durable and easier to clean. The pool and other facilities are cleaned regularly. The gym does have an unpleasant smell, but thats just like every other gym. The landscape and lawn are kept nice and clean, but you have to watch out for dogs, Ive seen people let them run loose and not clean after them. Ive almost got bitten once. All in all, I really liked living there and I recommend this place, especially to grad students. Special thanks to the Lodge management and the maintenance.#thelodge #thelodgelife
They charged tremendously for silly reasons when you move out and the stuff is irresponsible for the words they gave and the attitude is rather arrogant. The living experience is rather awful and no-star would be given if there is a choice for that.
Not a safe space. They lie to you every part of the way and try to coerce you into signing a lease immediately under constant threat and pressure of charging you more if you fail to act instantly. Are deceptive in every way. Lie to you outright and make false charges on your card in violation of verbal pledges and in contradiction to previous mutual understanding and beyond what any consumer is reasonably expected to understand as stipulated in the Consumer Protection Act. The manager Kayla yelled at me, insulted me, and spoke over me when I called for simple clarifications. She made it clear I must be stupid if I had to ask questions. She eventually decided to discriminate against me as a prospective tenant saying I would not fit in because Im a victim of domestic violence and also because I am transgender. My partners application fee has already been reversed by his bank and soon mine will be. The Lodge practices discriminatory, misleading, falsified, and illegal business practices and the staff and manager operate in premeditation with bad faith against prospective renters just to collect application fees. The Lodge equals fraud and racketeering and are anti-LGBTQ and are cruel and unhelping of victims of domestic violence. I hereby call for a boycott of the Lodge and for their manager Kayla to step down from her position.
Good place to live, ever since the management change they have made tremendous efforts in creating a close-knit community through free BBQs, Pool Parties, etc. The apartments are nice, well furnished and spacious!
Lodge apartment is the best place I have lived in West Lafayette. I have lived close to campus at other apartments but the experience at Lodge was very much delightful. It is the perfect place for a student who wants to stay off campus. It would be a great experience if you go there with your choice of roommates. Your room mates can make your life very bad, if you dont get along. Its best you stay by yourself for the first semester or the year while you find good roommates for you. Then you can start a conventional lease at Lodge. You will never leave.Pros : Spacious furnished apartments, Your own bathroom, 24hrs maintenance, Accommodating staff, package acceptance, Free internet and cable, Same rate renewal, Car service station, Tennis court, Bus route, Possible to get parking permits, close to WalmartCons: Your living experience depends on your roommates, High summer subleasing fee ($500)Suggestions for the Management :+ It would be better if you could let the new comers meet their roommates rather than random placement (may be a get to know party).+ Reduce the summer sub leasing fee.+ Keep the good work continuing. I would be unhappy to see the quality of service go down after this review. :-)
Staff is super friendly & complex has improved a lot in the past few years. Its not as far from campus as people think, it takes me like 7 mins to drive to campus & theres a bus that comes every half hour, so it is totally accessible to Purdue University, Tippecanoe Mall, and other businesses downtown, and up Sagamore Parkway.Id recommend it to a friend because of the higher degree of privacy offered as compared to other complexes in the area. Theres not people walking around at night like on campus or a bunch of traffic like the complexes on Lindberg. Maintenance staff is responsive and attentive.Plus they host events with FREE FOOD!
Apartment is ok. However, I lived here for 4 years and kept renewing the lease for the same price. Suddenly they just raised 25% last year and said theyll offer furnitures. But I bought all my furniture. They dont care and just raised the rent anyway. They promised to give us $200 cash back for renewing, and told they gave out all the bonus after our renewal on the 2nd day. Later they asked us to refer some friends and will give us an Apple TV in return. In the end, they said the same thing, they gave out All the Apple TVs they have. Keep cheating Lodge.
When I moved in the appartment had some issues but the staff was so helpful and willing to correct these problems
Best place to live. Furnished apartments with some of the unique facilities.
When moving out prepare to pay a buttload of fees for normal wear and tear. Staff are horrible and petty would not recommend.
A little far from campus but is nice and for a good price
They are charging an extremely high cleaning fee when you move out, no matter how clean your room is. It looks like they hired a cleaning company to clean all of apartment rooms and split it to every residents which is not reasonable at all!
Place is ok, but do not like all the inspections. they come in and ruin your privacy. Something is always breaking and the internet goes out alot. There are a lot better places to live, I wont be here next year.
I have had many frustrations with living at The Lodge. They recently changed management staff and they are by far the worst people to work with, as they show no respect towards their residents. My roommates and I were recently charged a fee for leaving trash outside a full compactor, stating we should have taken more time out of our day to seek out staff and have them get it emptied so we could more properly dispose of our trash. They do not empty the compactor or any of the trash cans throughout the property on a timely manner, as most trash cans are always overly stuffed with trash laying by the sides. We have had constant issues with our internet connection throughout the apartment. The management provides internet in our rent, however, they will never take the responsibility for working with Comcast when the internet is dysfunctional.Despite the nice location and decent apartments, the management staff makes it very difficult to enjoy living at The Lodge.
Unreliable staff, especially the manager. When sth goes wrong because of their miscommunication, they will deny it. You must suffer from their pretence. Get away from this place for your own goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I strongly recommend Baywater of Copper Beach Townhome. spacious living environments, reasonable rent, kind and professional staff like Stacy and Shelby. I have lived here for one year, but I should move out soon because I have not time to find enough persons to jointly renew the contract with me. Now I should suffer for one year with hypocritical office staff at Lodge.
Expect outrageous charges upon move out. They will charge 3 times the cost for very minor things. You can clean the apartment as much as you want, but it won’t help anything.
