I am from Ohio and was needing my nails done so I went to Google to find a nail place that look good and have a good reviews and I found knockout nails. The inside of the salon is very chic, clean and they have a receptionist that greets you at the door. A gentleman did my nails and I asked him if he could do leopard nail art, because where I’m from in Ohio nail art is not big and they just don’t do it. I showed him the picture from Pinterest and he said “oh yeah I can do that, easy” and my nails look exactly like the image. My pedicure was amazing, very relaxing, I love the color (which the guy chose for my leopard print and I wanted it on my toes) she was super nice asking me how the pressure felt, if the massage felt good which they don’t ask that In the salons in Ohio. I even had little petals of flowers in my pedicure tub which I thought was adorable and the hot stone massage if you can get that, I highly suggest it. The massage chairs helped you relax. overall experience was great. I will be in Iowa for five months and will definitely be returning to the salon for my future nail and feet needs

I was excited to come here because my friends all spoke highly of the work they do here. I was just unlucky and was not given the results I wanted. My sisters nails for exactly like her picture, but what I received was far from it. Definitely not worth the $74 just to get some stickers applied.. Unfortunate :(

We came in at 10:45 when our appointment was at 11 and they got us in right away and helped us leave with amazing looking nails by 1. They take their time and value the work they do and i’ll definitely be back!

Going to a highly rated nail salon i would expect better quality nails. both my ring fingers had weird texture and one of my index fingers stared peeling off?? also the person who did my nails didn’t even ask what color i wanted for the non black part of the nails, they just put on a pink which i ended up hating.

We had the appointment at 6. Didn’t get into the actual pedicure till almost 7pm. My mom had her brows waxed. Well boy let me tell you…was that a mistake. The lady that did them was the receptionist…I know, our mistake too but we thought she knew. My moms brows were think and full and she left them like the 90 brows from back in the day. Thin as could be. She left to the “bathroom” and never came back. When she finally came from the back, she covered her face and walked to her area. Never came back or apologized as she knew she had messed up. Told someone there and they told me they couldn’t do anything as the manager wasn’t there. The only good thing there was the lady that did my moms pedicure. Her name is Maureen. She did and amazing job and wouldn’t stop apologizing for the mistake the receptionist did. If she’s not trained or certified to wax brows or any other service, she shouldn’t be doing it and than Messing up peoples brows. I believe they called her gabby. That’s the person that messed up my moms brows and shouldn’t even be working there if she doesn’t know what she’s doing nor will apologize for her mistake.Also I paid $80 for acrylic nails that are regular coffin with a simple design. I’ve gotten MUCH BETTER sets for that price. They are expensive and their salon is dirty.FIRST PIC IS AFTER AND SECOND IS BEFORE.

Went in for an eyebrow wax, was greeted very nicely by the receptionist her name was Gabi, she took me right away. Before she began she asked what I was wanting and showed where I wanted the hair removed, when she was finished I couldn’t stop looking at them, they are probably the best waxed brows I have ever gotten! I will no longer be going anywhere else! She did such a wonderful job, I’m very pleased.Also this salon is nicely located and very clean 😊

My nails look good, so they do quality work! However, I waited over an hour past my appointment time for them to even start working on my nails. And it cost me $71 for a dip with tip pedicure because they had to remove the last dip. Never in my life have I paid over $55 for this service and I get my nails done every three weeks. Will not be returning.

$80 for LUMPY manicures. I shouldve gotten drunk and painted them myself.This was the worst manicure of my entire life, My sister and I went in for basic shellac and left with uneven nails and globs of paint all over our fingers.I asked for a refund and they refused because it would hurt their business. Personally, I think doing work like this would hurt their business, but what do I know? They offered to fix my nails but who has time to get their nails messed up twice? I understand a slightly messed up nail or a smudge when youre wrapping up--accidents happen. But this is just straight up terrible.Did I mention our nails were not filed either? They are very coarse and keep snagging on fabric. I am very disappointed in the manicure and very disappointed in how this was handled.

Made an appointment for a full set and decided that same day I wanted a pedicure as well, they were very accommodating to me and made sure I could get both done. Wish I would’ve got their names but the man who did my pedicure was very friendly and made sure I was comfortable and helped me choose my color, the lady who did my nails was also very great! I love that she kept redoing designs until she was satisfied with how it looked and then made sure I also liked it😊 as I was checking out I saw on the price sheet that they also do waxing and the lady checking me out made sure I got what I wanted and was very attentive, I definitely recommend going here and treating yourself! ❤️

My daughter and I had an appointment, we were a few minutes early we got right in. I showed them the design/color I wanted and Jason confirmed the color and even after starting he made sure it was the color i wanted. I went in today with a friend for a pedicure and full set and was HIGHLY impressed. I love my nails long and Anthony did an amazing job and honestly gave me the best set of nails i’ve ever gotten. Been looking for a good nail tech forever and finally found one! Gave me exactly what I wanted and made it a very enjoyable experience. Definitely will be back regularly.

Wifes new favorite place. If necessary, they have a couple translators; they want to make sure you get what you want. Very personal. They arent just trying to done and go on to the next. They take their time to make sure its done right.

Absolutely loved this place! Out of all the nail salons Ive been too im most pleased with Knockout nails. We went in with our bride and other bridesmaids and they gave us the best treatment! We got manicures and pedicures and yet they had us in and out within an hour 1/2. I will be using them from no on! Definitely recommend!

Very professional and friendly service. The tech did a great Job and I enjoyed the overall experience. Was a bit schocked when I went to pay and my $60 pedicure (was a specialty one) was $80 before tipping. From reading the reviews it sounds like its for removal of old Gel polish and possibly a upcharge for supply costs. Both understandable but things I wasnt aware of at the time. No biggie, Just a heads up for anyone coming here, remove any old polish first. They were able to fit me and a friend in on the weekend at the last minite too, which was awesome.

I came as a walk in and was greeted right away, I expected to have to wait but they got to me right away. The man that did my nails was very friendly and attentive to me and what I wanted. He didnt try and talk me into something different (color, length, design) like every other place ive been to does.Someone else did my pedicure and the man that did my nails came and asked how my water temp was and asked if everything was going okay.Everyone was very attentive to their customers, having friendly conversations.The place is clean and welcoming. I will for sure be coming back here when its time for a fill.

I have been coming here for years and have never had completely poor service, but always had some issues here and there.Positives: the young lady who greeted us spoke English incredibly well and asked questions to ensure we got what we wanted. The staff were all super friendly and knowledgeable.Negatives: after the water was drained from our pedicures there was an AWFUL sewer smell, it was enough to gag you, the staff didn’t acknowledge it rather they just started turning on the empty pedicure stations water and let it run which helped to dilute the smells. The cost is always different, you never know what it will cost you and they always charge different for some reason or another.Overall I like the place, clean and friendly just wish the cost was more consistent.

I went to celebrate a belated birthday. The provider was inattentive, I got two coats of polish on my toes haphazardly applied, she burnt me with hot water spraying down my legs, I left with four fingers bleeding, my nails were so poorly done I will not get one day out of them. I would be embarrassed to show them out. They did acknowledge how bad they were and gave me 10.00 off without me asking. I guess that was nice, but I did not get what I came for. My hands felt abused. Careless.

Walked in and asked for a pedicure service with the reception but she put me on waiting and no response at all for 2 hrs and said all are busy with appointments. Didn’t even bother about the customers. Very poor customer service

I was in town visiting my sister who recently moved to West Des Moines and needed to have my nails fixed. My sister suggested Knockout Nails after she had a good experience. I called ahead for a walk-in appointment and was able to get in right away around noon on a Saturday. I do recommend calling ahead, while I was there, they did start getting busy and had to turn a handful of people away. I had my nails done by Joe, and was very pleased with the time he put into my nails. For a gel removal and dip color change and nail shaping, I was there for nearly an hour and a half. The time that was put into my nails made me a very happy client. I am so happy with the shape of my nails, no one has ever been able to perfect the almond shape on my nails. I visit Des Moines often because of family, so I intend to make this a regular stop on my routine visits to the area.The facility itself was clean and everyone was professional. They had a good variety of colors available and services are reasonably priced.

I asked for a star design and got star embellishments that are bumpy and catch on my clothing. A few of them have already fallen off after getting my nails done a few hours ago.

I love this place, they made my hands look good and they made my nails look great. I eork with computers and unloading food trucks.....so my nails are always breaking. He made them short but elegant looking. Very happy with knockout nails i for sure will be going back.

They over charged me for simple nails. They charged me for the length and shape when every other nail place i’ve gone to hasn’t done that. Also the lady who did my nails cut me several times.

I went here for the first time from a recommendation from a friend and unfortunately, did not enjoy my experience. All of my nails are different lengths and shapes. I left my appointment with 5 bleeding fingers. My bleeding fingers are puffy/swollen, red and extremely painful the next day. I will not be back.

Manicure was good but not great for the price. I appreciate the woman who did my nails but this is just not a relaxing, professional enterprise.

They turned off their open sign just as I was walking in. An hour before close...I called to double check, and they said they were closing in 15 minutes but weren’t taking anyone else. No one in the store..too bad!

It was very nice looking inside and the workers were friendly. I had gotten a fill and my daughters nails painted....Was charged $92. Wayyyy too pricey for me. The service was okay. The gal who did my nails sliced the sides of my fingers with the metal attachment on the dremel machine. Definitely not worth the money spent. I will go elsewhere next time.

Went in for a dip manicure and they didnt give the manicure. Just painted our nails, no cuticle trimming, no lotion, nothing. Highly disappointed. They were rushing for no reason. We walked in at 4 and they closed at 6. Terrible place. Do not recommend.

I would never want to hurt anyone’s business but I was so disappointed. When I saw they had 4 1/2 stars I was excited to try them. I was so surprised to see that they did not have any barriers between the customer and their workers. Other than a mask that was it. I did not feel like they were wiping things down after each person. They just seem to be not concerned, lackadaisical. The gentleman I had did a manicure in about 20 minutes. I felt like it was an express manicure. Nothing too relaxing about that. I tried to ask questions to him and another person, asking for ideas for doing something fun and different to my nails. a little design on one nail, sparkles, stripes. Anything. there was dead silence.They didn’t offer up anything. I thought they might at least have a book of ideas or some stencils they could use. They have a couple of pictures on the wall of different designs but yet had nothing to offer. I have to say after only a few hours the ends of my nails were starting to show where already. I don’t think the polish was very good or he put it on too thin, or he didn’t try to wrap it under the nail to prevent that. All in all, not happy and will not go back.

I wanted a treat for my upcoming birthday, so I went to get my nails done and use a gift card and certificate that I received for my birthday about six years ago. There was no expiration date on either the card or certificate, but they said their policy was that they were only good for six months and that they were no good. The bill was for around $42, so I said I realized that they couldn’t look up the card for a balance, but if they could accept the certificate with the amount on it for $40, I had enough cash for the difference. I was told no, that I would have to come up with some way to pay them. I told him that it would put me in such a financial bind for groceries, but it didn’t matter. The man that did my nails was kind and said he was sorry. I wouldn’t suggest buying anyone a gift certificate from them.

Came in for just maintenance no color. The people we had barely touched the calluses on our feet and then after a quick massage we were done. Was not worth $40. They charged us for the color even though we didn’t get any and gave us no refund in return. Can get way better pedicure for $25 at my regular place. Will never return again!!

Such a great salon! My friend and I have been looking for years for a good nail salon. Found many fails. Now weve found the success! Got a deluxe pedicure and gel manicure. Was in and out in 70 minutes. With ample massage, hot towel, paraffin in hands and feet, and painting time. Love this salon!! Will be going back.

I got acrylics and she messed up on them& they charged me 70$ and I came back 2 days later to get them repainted and they charged me 35$, just for my nails to start breaking off days later, rushed through my whole manicure 👎🏽

I’ve been getting my nails done since I was four. And out of all the nail salons I’ve been through knockout nails with the best I highly recommend. They did everything just as I wanted and they were so sweet and so nice. They made sure everything was perfect. I would definitely return.

This was the best pedicure Ive ever had. They offered me a drink right when I sat down. I got the expensive one and it was amazing. It came with a hot bean bag for my shoulders, spa packs, and callous remover. She rubbed my feet for ten minutes each. There was some distraction when she was talking to her coworker but nothing too crazy. From start to finish I was in the shop for an hour and forty five minutes. My feet get pretty built up with dead skin and she took good care of all of it. The place was packed and Ill definitely be back.

I have been looking for a place to go since our regular place changed hands. This place is amazing! It’s SO clean and the pedicure was AMAZING! They took their time and did a fantastic job! Equipment they use for pedicures are in new packages and the warm wax was a new and very enjoyable experience (included in regular pedicure). Price was $30 and the pedicure took over an hour! I found my new nail salon!

This salon is fantastic. The interior is beautiful and clean. The staff was courteous, fast and did an amazing job! Tania did my nails and I would highly recommend!Update: 2 weeks out and my nail shellac still looks perfect (just grown out).

The place is very nice, very clean, and nice people. They did a great job on my pedicure, all except for in less the a week my nail polish was already chipped off. I am the kind of person that can keep it on for many weeks for when seeing that it was chipping less than a week was very upsetting.

Compared to the other places in WDM, They actually take their time and take no short cuts. I just got a man ped and she actually got off all my cuticles and worked extra hard on my callus. They keep this shop clean around the clock. After 7 years of living in the Des Moines area, I finally found a place I can always comeback to.

I’m leaving two stars because I received the worst service I’ve ever received from any nail salon from a worker at knockout nails. To start the man who helped me refused to talk to me. Even the simplest thing such was knowing his name. I ordered dip nails with tips, and the worker rushed doing my nail leaving waves and divots in them and they were very very week. After a week they have started to break off where the tips were glued on at. After my nails were done the worker then worked on my friends nails and he harassed her and made her experience here uncomfortable. We will not be going back again.

Not very friendly. Others having conversations, gentleman doing mine nothing not even a Hello.Others offered something to drink from mine again nothing.Color selection was not very good, when pick a color told we do not have that color.Hard to find a good salon when job keeps you traveling.

When I went in the first thing I heard from the young girl was her mildly making fun of my short, bitten nails (I have anxiety) but I let it slide and let her do her job. She was sweet but she wasnt as attentive as I liked her to be and now my nails are filed shorter than I would like them to be and I have nail polish on every single finger. I find my manicure to be a little lack luster since I have had experiences previously of understanding nail artists and no traces of polish on my fingers. I wouldnt recommend for a regular manicure but if you want a pedi thats a whole lot better experience.

I stumbled upon this place about a year ago and now its the only place I go! Ive gotten gel and powder manicures and regular pedicures. (My powder manicures last around 6 weeks!) They are very attentive to detail and ask you several times throughout the visit if you like the color, shape, length. If you leave unhappy its almost your own fault :)I once had a gel manicure chip after 1 week, and when I came in to ask about it the owner stopped what he was doing and fixed it on the spot for free. I love them!

Worst nail experience I have ever had. Decided to try out a new nail place and saw the great reviews. But I personally would never come here again.Woman who did my nails was so rude. When she was trying to take my gel off she kept hitting my skin with the little drill, or leaving it in one spot too long and burning me. She seemed inconvenienced the entire time she was working on me, jerking on my arm or just slapping my hand down on the table. She was also in such a hurry she kept setting things down on top of my hands? Including slamming the gel light down on top of my fingers. Even though in the middle of rushing on my nails, she would randomly stop and kept inspecting and picking at her own. She was arguing with the nail technician next to her, and yanked his bottle of acetone away from him. Then at the end of my manicure she threw my arm back at me and said youre done.I am seriously not the type to complain, and I am a pretty calm person, but I wanted to get up and leave midway through.Then, almost the most upsetting, when I get up to pay she says my total is $38.00?! Even though when I first came in I asked the cost and she said for shellac manicure it is $25.00 which is a normal price point I usually pay at my other nail places.Instead I paid over ten extra dollars and spent over two hours of my life for the most stressful manicure ever.

What a lovely place with such nice people! First, the staff is friendly and every single person I have had do my toes does a fantastic job. Second, they utilize good hygiene practices. Third, their new remodel (black, white, gray theme) is amazing! It creates such a relaxing atmosphere, and the new massage chairs are very comfortable. Now, I only go for pedicures, and dont ever get my fingernails done so I cannot speak to the manicures and other treatments. But if youre looking for a great pedi with a kind staff, head here!
