This is a fairly quiet neighborhood easily accessible to Interstate 95 and 295.The rent is great for people with low incomes who are looking for a safe quit place to live. However, if you can afford an extra two hundred or three hundred dollars a month for rent, dont try to save your money here. I have not seen any mice, but the house centipedes are out of this world. They say they do bi-weekly pest control, but these bugs are clearly immune to it. I did not see them in the first three or four months, once they made an appearance, it was as if they moved in. I spoke with my neighbor and they mentioned seeing them from the day that they moved in and having to call often to have maintenance to spray the apartment. I have given up on that because I call, they will come, and two weeks later the bugs are back. I have to thoroughly inspect my shower before getting in every morning otherwise I may find a centipede surprise--theyre in the tub, theyre hiding in the shower curtain, they are on the ceiling; I went to lay down one night and one came crawling across the pillow next to me in my bed, and they also would frequent my bedroom often. I have had problems with my power going out inexplicably, and once an electrician had to be called to correct it. I have also had several problems with plumbing here: when I first moved in, the tub would run into the apartment below me, and now the toilet needs attention often because it will not flush properly after a few weeks. I was told that the toilets are cheap and people in my building were not doing what they were supposed to do to prevent the frequent stopping up of the toilets. I also had a an exposed hole at the bathroom light fixture that I made someone aware of months ago that was just fixed a few days ago. There was also a wet spot in a corner in my bedroom, that got progressively worse as the year went on. I reported this to maintenance and someone came and painted over it, so the water spot continued to grow. A few weeks before I moved out, either someone broke into my apartment or the lock that I told them didnt work finally gave and I came home to find the door was ajar. They hurried up and fixed the lock then, but kept telling me to jiggle the lock and not stick the key all the way in when trying to unlock the door. I was also told by Ms. Williams that she doesnt have time to go back and check to make sure that issues in the apartment are actually fixed, which is completely unprofessional, but she was also sure to steal from my security deposit because I moved out on a Sunday and the gate to the rental office was locked when I went to return the keys. I told her this was why I was unable to return the keys, and she said nothing about the fact that she was going to steal from me because returning the keys was pretty much out of control. I have experienced all this from this complex in a years time. If you have it, just spend the extra money. This place is trifling.

Ive lived here for 4 years and its a pretty decent place to live. The neighborhood is safe and relatively quiet. Once in awhile youll here a few sounds off from the other side of the park if you live on the SE side but I just stay clear of the window. The fire station is a few blocks up so youll hear the siren often. Its something Ive just learned to get used to lol. The rent price is perfect for someone on a budget and its also convenient to MD & VA thats honestly the reason that Ive stayed this long. The centipedes are ANNOYING. Period. I have NEVER seen mice in my apt or roaches but I attribute that to keeping a clean home as well as my neighbor. All in all, I would recommend. It isnt luxury but its home for now and Im comfortable!

This apartment is really good if you are in a tough spot and cant get approved for any other places or youre someone who doesnt want a roommate, but cant afford the price of a 1 bedroom w/ utilities.I have lived here for a year and after being told by the apartment manager that because the complex has rent control the price would never go up, I received a notice that my rent is rising from $995 to $1,038. This place is not worth that price so I will be moving.Pros:- Amazingly responsive staff. Property manager is very nice and always responds. Maintenance request are resolved almost immediately.- The grounds are well kept- It is quiet. Strange because with this area you wouldnt expect it, but I think most of the tenants are seniors.- The walls are THICK- Water pressure is very good- The space itself is quite large for one person or one person and a child- Very close to the Eastover shopping center, the P12 bus and the A4(?), 495, & 295. I dont think my travel time has been longer than 30 minutes and thats to go to Silver Spring/Takoma Park.- Free parking & monitored parking lot- No utilitiesCons:- AC/Heat. Because this is an old building they do not have central AC or heat. The AC units are fine. They make the apartment freezing cold which is lovely. The radiators used for heat, not so much, last winter, even though they bled all my radiators, I still had to keep my oven open for about 3 hours to actually warm the apartment enough to take my hoodie and sweats off. Also because the AC units are in the windows, these windows do not open. So I cannot open my bedroom window in case of an emergency (AC units are screwed in) nor my dining room window. Kitchen window, living room window, and bathroom windows all open.- Walk-up. This is not a major con for me because Im young and also knew this when I chose the apartment, but for them to be raising the rent to $1,038 as a walkup and the Milanos rent is $1,060 and they have an elevator they are trippin trippin.- No amenities. Again, I was fine with no amenities previously because this was the place with the lowest rent in the area I wanted to live and I didnt have to pay utilities, but with them raising the rent you would think they would begin offering some type of incentive to rent here. Compared to places, that are less than 5 minutes away, that have elevators, trash disposal services, pools, community centers, laundry facilities IN your building, etc etc for less than $100 more, I really do not see the benefit to choosing here over another place (again, unless you knowingly cant get approval)- Laundry facility. There are only 2 buildings for laundry and neither is an available complex so you must carry your laundry outside and back. Coin operated. Takes about $8 to wash & dry 3 loads of clothes.-You will need to have this place professionally cleaned before you move in.Update: No more roaches!!!!, but it is the end of December and I have no heat. I’m forced to use my oven to heat my apartment which is dangerous. Luckily I’m moving soon 🙌🏾.
