I contacted Mr. Wilder about a apartment to schedule a walk-through and right off the bat he was super polite and sweet and offered to show us around a lovely apartment when we first walked through the doors he showed us the bike room which was secure clean and very spacious. Mr. Wilder walked us through the halls to a clean laundry room that had sanitizing equipment for everyday use. I was getting super excited to see the apartment just looking around the beautiful neighborhood, when we reached the common room the high ceilings were beautifully decorated with chandeliers and and French glass windows, and Beautiful marble floors had intriguing details and the mailbox room that was kept nice and clean, no dust was found. Finally heading into the room I was amazed to find the room had beautiful high ceilings and a nice hardwood floor with a large coat closet as you walk in turning to your right you’ll see a large living room area that had a large bay window and beautiful French glass doors leading into the dining room. The dining room had a built in cabinet and and two windows looking into the porch, but back to the living room it also had another door leading out to the porch on looking the beautiful gardens outside where are you could also see the side walk. The kitchen had a nice home comfort feeling with nice marble counters hardwood cabinets modern style handles on the cabinets which I liked a lot and also on a door that leads into the apartment hallway so you have two exits. I nearly fainted when I saw the bay window inside the first bedroom The ceilings were super high and there was a large closet with shelves inside each room which was amazing you can’t have enough closets in my opinion there was also another closet inside of the hallway leading into the last bedroom which was as spacious had one large window and two medium windows but all rooms have their own AC system which was amazing to me. Mr. Wilder walked me through everything and just provided me with an amazing experience. You can tell that this building takes pride in its appearance and its customer satisfaction and its ability to improve he informed us that a step in the front door was being renovated which means they show signs of progressing and fixing any problem that we have and I like that about apartment complexes. All in all that room was amazing I have not seen a single bug in this entire building.10 out of 10 would recommend to anybody looking for a clean beautiful apartment.
This building is a gem. Yesterday, a friend delivered a bouquet of flowers to me at 2800 Ontario. Only problem is I havent lived there for four years. The resident manager tracked down another former tenant who passed a message to me. It was lovely to take another look at my old home when I went to retrieve the flowers today. The building looks as lovely as ever, with high ceilings, crown moulding, hardwoods and mosaic tiled floors, and the wonderful service of the resident manager. If a unit comes open here, jump on it!
Great building with an incredibly helpful property manager named Jim. I’ve been especially pleased with the bike room that has a very advanced locking system as well as the AmazonHub package center which makes picking up packages super easy. I’d highly recommend this building; the apartment, amenities, and maintenance are all top notch.
I am so thrilled to be moving into this lovely building in my very favorite part of Adams Morgan. As the former residents had lived in my apartment for many years, it needed some updates before I moved in. Jim, the building manager, made sure everything was renovated beautifully and kept me up to date on progress - he went above and beyond, and I just cant be more pleased. The neighbors are pretty great as well! I knew a few already (they had recommended the building to me), but have met several more just in the past two days, and it seems like a great community.
A decent living space with pleasant people working on the property. The building manager Mr. Wilder showed us the building and took time to answer all our questions. Its an older apartment building that hasnt chopped the units smaller to get more people in, which is hard to come by now.Ps, My family moved in November and love it.
Wonderful living space on a quiet street not too far off one of DCs most popular neighborhoods. The quality of the apartment is incredible and the buildings management has been kind, courteous and helpful.
Lived here a short while, and Im very impressed with the place. Having lived in apartments in several cities, I feel like this is one of the best if not the best unit Ive lived in.Here are the details that informed my review:-The building manger, Jim, is friendly, responsive, and helpful. From being available early in the morning before I even moved in to addressing building concerns within hours/day of to helping me with unit stuff, Jim has gone above and beyond.-The building is clean and well-maintained. Sure, its an old building with all the character that goes along with it, but the upkeep is apparent (e.g. clean carpets, functioning elevators, no dead lights, maintained paint)-The building is in a prime location - within a reasonable walk of red and green lines, near major bus routes, a few min walk away from several grocery stores, a few min walk away from green space.-My unit is big with lots of natural light, AC units for every room except the bathrooms, wood floors, updated appliances, a porch, and an autolocking front door.-Rental prices are reasonable. Bills are paid online and can be split by roommate.-Diverse residents (e.g. age, life stage, culture), and many have lived in the building a long time. One of my roommates has lived here 10 years and absolutely loves it.Things to consider but dont really count against the rating-There are only a couple of parking spaces, but its mostly street parking (common in urban areas).-All locks are physical keys, which Id expect for an old building.
Beautiful, well-cared for building in an amazing location! Building manager is kind and welcoming and all facilities are easy to use -- the place feels like a friendly community even in pandemic times. Its a great find all around.
Ive lived here for just over a year and I love it!
2800 Ontario has been my home for the past year and I couldn’t ask for more in an apartment building. The relatively small size of the building gives it a close-knit feel and the wonderful building manager, Jim Wilder, knows each of the residents by name. Jim really goes above and beyond to meet all of your needs.Recent updates to the building including an Amazon Locker, new carpets, fresh paint, etc. have further improved the building. All of this, in addition to an unbeatable location (steps away from a bus stop, nearby to 18th St’s incredible food scene), make 2800 Ontario an absolute treasure.
Mr Jim Wilder is a delightful Resident Manager and Residential Historian. His respect and care of building shows in the upkeep of 2800 Ontario Road. I have been in a lot of buildings over the years. And this building is the best, top of the line. Cleanliness and a wonderful scent greeted me throughout this lovely quaint residence. Mr Wilder is thorough in his management and he made sure he answered all my questions and family members. The Maintenance Man and Office Staff all personify the wonderful work ethic of Mr. Wilder.Thank you,Wilma
Such a great place to live! Definitely one of the best communities in DC. Timely and attentive on site maintenance manager and great COVID measures with cleaning. Very spacious apartment and real DC charm.
2800 Ontario is beautiful building in a great location with the perfect manager whose professionalism and kindness is as beautiful as his building. We are on the waiting list looking forward to the opening of an apartment so we can be part of such a lovely place with a wonderful community and the best manager Jim Wilder.
This building is one of DCs best — elegantly designed, beautifully maintained, perfectly situated. Oh, and reasonably priced to boot. The resident manager, Jim Wilder, is a wise and wonderful fellow.
I recently toured with my family and its a rare find in DC. The apartment had excellent sunlight in every room. It was BEAUTIFUL and very spacious, more space than youll find in most newer apartments in the city. The neighborhood is serene despite being a block away from bustling 18th street. Jim Wilder, the owner, is genuinely welcoming, knowledgeable, loves to talk about the building and its community. He even will hand deliver large packages to residents to make sure mail doesnt get lost or stolen! Looking forward to moving in.
This is a great place to live! Its an old style DC building with modern touches. A perfect mix of old and new. The building is beyond clean, its spotless. The management is excellent and they live in the building for when anything comes up. The location is great. The building is in a quite street, but is a 3 min walk from Adams Morgan. But the best part of all is the great neighbors we have in the building. Were so fortunate to be part of a great community!
I enjoyed my time living here. Although it is an older building, they have recently done a lot of upgrades to the place and it looks great. Jim is a great manager and always responsive. All the units have much more space than you would get in most DC residences.
An Elegant appartment building! Its old architectural charm is well preserved. Maintenance does a fantastic job. It is immaculate. Issues get fixed promptly. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
2800 Ontario is incredibly well-maintained and has a wonderful resident manager, Jim Wilder. The apartments are very spacious, with plenty of natural light. The location is great too -- walking distance to grocery stores, coffee shops, etc. 100% recommend.
Not only is this a lovely and well maintained building from the outside, but it is equally charming on the inside. The lobby is spotless and a welcoming entry. The halls have recently been refreshed with new paint, carpet, and lighting. The apartment has good size rooms and very solid construction. As a bonus, there is now an Amazon locker in the basement. But best of all is the building manager, Jim. He takes great pride in the building and truly cares about the welfare of the tenants. On the whole, this apartment was a great and rare find!
Ive only lived here a few months, but the experience has only been wonderful so far! The building is beautiful with the most amazing windows. Jim is the most helpful building manager Ive experienced and goes above and beyond for all his residents. He has helped us countless times already and will work with you to make each individuals experience positive. Looking forward to sticking around for awhile!
This is a beautiful, well maintained building with soaring ceilings, freshly painted hallways with new carpeting, and a nicely furnished and welcoming lobby. The apartments are similarly well maintained with spacious rooms and big windows. In the basement, there is a large laundromat and even locked Amazon boxes to secure packages! The manager of the building is remarkably helpful and attentive. I moved my 23 year old daughter into her apartment this past week and Jim went out of his way to make sure we had a place to park while we unloaded the car, showed us around the building and provided reassuring review of all the safety features in the building. He even helped me get a weekend visitor’s parking permit from the local police station! I left my daughter knowing she is in a secure, clean and well maintained building with surely the most pleasant and helpful manager in DC!
I feel very lucky to call 2800 home. The team super helpful during the move in process as well as the day to day. Jim and the team are awesome!
A wonderful place to live. Jim is the best building manager anyone could ask for, the location is great, and the rooms and building have a classic feel with tons of closet space. Some recent upgrades like Amazon lockers and pay by credit card for the washing machines are very handy too.
I lived this beautiful apartment for a while. The entrance, lobby, elevator and laundry room were all clean and well kept. And the building manager, Jim, was very nice! I wish I could live here again.
Nice building, old, charming with character and very well kept. 2800 Ontario is a gem in Adams Morgan/Mount Pleasant area. The residents are very friendly and some have been in the building for over 3 decades. There is a good mix of young students and job holders, young family with small kids and older retired people. The house manager is one of the best that I have seen. He really takes care of the building and its residents and helps create a wonderful community that it is.
Awesome place to live! Great location! The manager of the building, Jim makes the place feel like home. He is always available to help and makes sure everything is up and running the way it needs to be. The apartments are big, with a lot of light and beautiful high ceilings. We have been here for almost 3 years and are really happy!
Great well maintained building and wonderful building manager! Any issue we ever had was fixed in less than 2 days! Love living here
2800 Ontario Rd is one of the best kept secrets in Washington, DC. The apartments are beautiful and spacious, with lots of light and high ceilings. Most importantly, Jim Wilder, the Building Manager makes 2800 a place that feels like home, not only because of how great of a job he does to keep the place looking great, but because he has become like family, always concerned with how the residents are doing and making sure that they are comfortable and welcome in the community. I couldn’t recommend this property more to anyone that wants to live in a little oasis in the Adams Morgan community.
2800 Ontario is a great place to live, and I feel so lucky to call it home. It’s extremely clean and Jim, the building manager, is extremely attentive to our needs as tenants. It’s in an excellent location - walking distance to both grocery stores and DC nightlife. I’d highly recommend living here if you’re able.
This building has been my home for over thirty years, it is a wonderful place to live. The apartments are spacious, warm, friendly and with a special charm that eludes so many living places in Washington. The resident manager runs a very tight ship and yet has a tremendous report with the residents and their numerous concerns... a very human place... And the special touch of the resident manager makes this a truly great place.
Lived here for a short time, however, it was an excellent stay! Inside and outside of the building are beautiful, and well-kept. The apartments are spacious, and in a great area. Always felt very safe!
We just signed a lease in this building and the overall rental experience has been great! The building manager was able to get us a tour of the apartment immediately, guide us through the rental application process, and accommodate our early move-in date. Everyone has been extremely nice and helpful and we are very much looking forward to moving into our new home!
Ive lived in 2800 for the last 6 years, and it has been the most consistently wonderful part of my life. The building is beautiful, spacious and amazingly affordable. I have to pinch myself when I sit on our screened in patio, and walk into the foyer to see the dining room, living room, and kitchen. Its really a remarkable place. Jim Wilder, the building manager, is incredibly kind, warm, caring and attentive. He is so prompt in helping us fix things, and is very patient with our requests. He is friendly and caring. 5 huge stars to Jim! Thank you for everything!!!
Beautiful, spacious, sunny, quiet. My home since 2004. Building manager 100% responsible for keeping things in great shape and for this close-knit community. Best place to live in all of DC!
I just moved into 2800 Ontario and I couldnt be more pleased with the rental experience. Jim, the building manager, was amazingly helpful and flexible - he arranged a tour for us in less than 24 hours and accelerated the move-in date to accommodate our work schedule. And even though we moved in early, the apartment was spotless and newly painted. Jim takes great care of the building and is very responsive to questions. I am so happy I chose 2800 Ontario for my new home.
Wonderful place, nice neighborhood, very clean, excellent management. Would love to stay there again sometime!
2800 Ontario is a clean, spacious, and well-maintained building. The manager, Jim, went out of his way to help with move-in - checking in with the moving company, explaining all the building features - couldnt have been a more pleasant, smooth process!
Just moved my daughter into this beautiful apartment building. Jim, the building manager, could not have been more helpful. The building is in great shape and much care had been taken in preparing the apartment for the new move in. I will sleep well knowing she is in a safe building in such a great neighborhood.
Spacious, sunny, beautiful and quiet. Solid, thick walls - very quiet. Impeccably maintained by highly skilled and responsive building manager. Beautiful original woodwork and French doors, very big balconies and rooms. Within 10 minute walk from both Red and Yellow/Green lines. Lived in a one bedroom for six years then took a job overseas. Said I’d only move back to DC if a two bedroom (1300 square feet/120 square meters plus balcony) opened up in 2800 Ontario. I lucked out. Feels like home to me in this wonderful community of residents.
The manager of the building, Jim, is a very nice guy! From the moment I viewed my place, I knew right away I had to move in. Folks are friendly, easy to access bus routs and Philz coffee (my favorite), and all around one of the best communities Ive been apart of.
This is an amazing building! Jim is really friendly and made our moving in experience very easy!! The apartment and entire building is extremely clean and well maintained. We have never seen such a clean apartment at move in, and we have seen a lot. Great location and neighborhood — it will be a great place to live.
Ive lived here for two years now. 2800 is definitely a gem in Adams Morgan, and probably the best bang for your buck. The apartments are beautiful, spacious (approx. 1,200 sq. ft. for a two bedroom) and very affordable compared to other apartments in DC. Plus, youll be hard pressed to find a better building manager than Jim Wilder. Hes incredibly attentive and responsive, and you can tell he truly cares about the residents. 2800 deserves five stars, thanks in large part to Jim.
This was such an amazing home in a beautiful neighborhood. I recently moved but was very sad to leave 2800. Jim, the manager, is so kind. He made our stay here (especially the move out process) so easy and was always offering to help. The definition of 5 star service!
Spacious, bright and clean perfectly describe the building but the real treasure of 2800 Ontario Road is Jim Wilder, the resident manager. Jims high levels of service and thoughtfulness have made this a great place to live for many years.
This building is an excellent place to live. The apartments are lovely, with high ceilings, big windows and gorgeous lighting fixtures (plus thick walls). Jim, the building manager, is incredibly responsive and goes out of his way to create a friendly, welcoming community.
I live here since 2002.It is a lovely Roaring Twenties’ building with art deco lobby, hardwood floors, crystal knobs, chandeliers, facing a leafy street. The resident manager, Jim Wilder, is a real asset, very conscientious and diligent, takes good care of the tenants, distributes packages, even organizes house parties.
I have lived in 7 different places in the last 10 years and this is BY FAR one of the best experiences I have had.The move here was so smooth and the management ( big shout out to Jim) made that possible by helping every step of the way. The location is great; quiet, but only a few blocks away from the awesome ADMO neighborhood. The credit card washer and dryers are so easy and convenient and the new amazon package center makes getting packages a piece of cake by email notification upon arrival.I could not be more happy with finding this place. Jim Wilder is amazing! He is more than willing to help, especially in your time of need, I love running into him in the halls he always brightens you day.
2800 Ontario is without a doubt one of the best places to live in DC. The apartments are large, well kept up, well priced and in one of the best neighborhoods in town. Jim Wilder takes amazing care of the place and all of us! Half the building has been here for 25+ years because its simply the best.
Thanks for showing me and my wife around this beautiful apartment complex. The apartments were beautiful and spacious. The apartment areas were very clean inside and out. Very clean laundry area. Your hospitality and time was greatly appreciated Mr. Wilder. My wife and I havent made a decision yet but your apartment is one we are considering. Thanks again.
Great location & building- lots of art deco era charm. Very well maintained & clean.
Amazing older building with great charm. Enchanting lobby that takes you back in time. 2800 Ontario is in the nice quiet neighborhood of Lanier heights. I have lived here for nearly two years and I see myself here for many more. Jim Wilder the resident manager goes above and beyond with all of our requests. Could not ask for a better or more attentive resident manager. Highly recommend this property!
Extremely well maintained apartment and apartment building! Jim – the building manager – did an exceptional job preparing the apartment for a new tenant. Freshly painted and very clean!
I just moved in to 2800 Ontario, and it has been a wonderful experience so far! Jim, the building manager, made moving in as easy as possible. The apartment is beautiful, and the building is a great community!
The apartments have lots of character and are some of the largest Ive been in while living in the DC area! Great location (close to red/blue/yellow lines and only a block from the 42 bus and Adams Morgan circulator) and the neighborhood is quiet and really cute. The building manager, Jim, is very responsive and is so nice to have around. Couldnt imagine a better place to be in DC!
A very happy new renter!!!! So clean. Jim is super helpful & informative.
Loved living here—twice, for a total of 9 years. Now even better: they renovated all the hallways. Very nice.
We have called 2800 Ontario our home for the last 4.5 years and have loved every moment that we have been here. The apartment is very well maintained for an old building and is very charming. The bathroom, hardwood floors and the kitchen (with new appliances) were redone when we moved here so it was a huge bonus for us. We love how spacious and bright the apartment is. We even have a dining room in our 2 bedroom, which is rare for a DC apartment. The building recently got a facelift with new floor carpets in the hallways and new lighting and it makes the hallways much wider and brighter. We also love the new package hub in the basement and the notifications we get on my email about package delivery. The apartment is rent controlled and is tucked in a great and convenient neighborhood in Lanier heights. The resident manager Jim is really warm and ensures that all the residents feel at home. He really goes out of the way to take care of everyones requests and needs. You might hear him singing in the hallways from time to time, which will make you smile :). This is indeed a wonderful community to live in with a mix of young and old and the fact that some people have lived here for more than 20-30 years says a lot about the apartment building and the wonderful custodian who takes pride in maintaining a top notch place to live.
I moved to DC a little over a year ago with little to no idea of what to expect from the apartment hunting process here. Finding an open unit in 2800 was sheer luck! The bedrooms and living spaces have ample space (our guests always comment on how open it is) and the building as a whole is well-maintained. Weve been thankful to have a responsive management team for little fixes here and there, and the building has a great mix of residents--longtime AdMo residents and newcomers alike--who occasionally gather for small celebrations in the lobby.
Such a nice building with an incredibly friendly and helpful building manager, Jim. I’ve loved the time I’ve spent here!
I came with a friend to see this apartment sadly to say after I had just signed a new lease. I was really impress with the beautiful, old, and charming building. The outside doesnt compare to what you find inside. I was so amazed at the, high ceilings, the spacious apartments and the balconies. The gentleman that showed us the apartment was very kind, responsive as he answered all my friends questions and to my surprise it seemed like everyone in the building spoke pleasantries to him and they seemed like friends. Also, he was very informative about the neighborhood, the eateries and how to get around with no car here. My friend would have moved in here at 2800 but, soon after she excepted a job offer outside of this area. But. . . . .I know where Ill look when Im in need of a new place to live.Mrs. Mayberry
Best building manager in the entire city of Washington D.C. 2800 is a great apartment building and a warm and welcoming community! Jim Wilder has done an extraordinary job!
The location - great. The apartment - beautiful. The building manager, Jim - absolutely wonderful!
The most clean, efficient, and beautiful apartment building I have ever lived in!
Great experience moving in! Jim was incredibly helpful!
Mr. Wilder is a first-rate resident manager. I have had some medical issuesrecently and he visited me once in the hospital and from time to time asks me if there is anything he can do for me.
A lovely building with great neighbors on a beautiful street in an awesome neighborhood. What more could you want in an apartment?
Gorgeous pre-war building, hardwood floors, fireplaces and sleeping porches, a must in hot and muggy DC before A/C. Add a Washington Monument view from the huge dining room and a Resident Manager who watches over not only the building but the people in it and you’ve got a great place to call home.
Wonderful place to live. Great management and place is very spacious
Awesome rental manager and helps all, all the time ! The apartments are nice and the neighborhood is nice . Apartments are kept up nicely .
Update: Looking for a new place? 2800 Ontario should be on your must-see list. There have been recent renovations-new carpeting, wonderful new lighting in all the hallways, package delivery service and new appliances in the laundry room. Management is superb as always and there are the friendliest neighbors you could ever want.2800 Ontario has to be one of the best apartments in DC. Charming building with wonderful high ceilings, chandeliers, some apartments with lovely spacious balconies. Clean and well-maintained due to the diligence of a wonderful resident manager, who makes sure new residents meet old residents and organizes annual get togethers. Coudn’t ask for a better location close to 2 metro stations, several bus lines, restaurants and other services.
Beautiful historic building with a great location. Always very well kept, inside and out.
Awesome apartment well maintained nice large rooms management is really nice and helpful
Love living here! Apartment is huge for such a great location.
Great apartments with a building manager who is very attentive and helpful!
Building has great bones, thoughtful layouts, is well managed by WC Smith, and has a great community feel!
Lovely old building, great location and very nice manager.
Beautiful, spacious apartments, the high ceilings and original trim work sets them apart, the building is impeccably maintained, and the Managment is very Proffesional and friendly .
Great price for the location--building management is saintly.
