So I set an appointment in LaPlata originally, and received a call moving me to Waldorf. My appt was 9am today, they no showed me. I waited for 30 minutes and left two messages. The entire day went by and no one answered all day, or bothered to return a phone call. Absolutely frustrating! So I made an appointment somewhere else and just wanted to share my experience with others. Good luck!

My husband and I did our taxes last year at this location and we had an amazing experience. But not today. We went in thinking we were going to get our taxes done, and the lady that helped us, Wen, told us our daycare expense did not count because we pay my mother. I explained that it is my mother’s income and she has used that income to do her taxes. She then proceeded to say that it is consider to be a gift and not an expense. Wen finally went over to another agent and the agent explained that it can be an expense we just needed to provide my mother’s information. We decided to walkout as we cannot pay an H&R Block who does not know what is required to taxes.

Mrs. Joyce has been doing my taxes for a few years and she is amazing. Very professional and courteous. She makes sure she goes over everything even though I have been to her for the last few years. She is always positive.

Alisha Coates, my tax professional. I am loyal to her and I will continue to utilize H&R Block as long as she is there. She has prepared my taxes for the last 4 or five years.

In 1989 four years after getting married doing our own Taxes became challenging so, HR Block was where we landed I wonder how many of their Customers have been 30 year plus Clients? In Santa Clara CA they said to go to Premium (year round) Offices best preparers. From 1989-2019. Finally by the time we had our Taxes prepared by Kathy, whom I still chat with, 2004-2010, we had two homes in two States, Forrestry Land in Maine, depreciation on Farm Equipment...very complex Returns and she prepared them flawlessly. In fact from 1989 to 2011, regardless of home bought/sold, and other complexities; as far as the IRS and State Agencies involved our Taxes had always been Filed perfectly. We paid a lot, got Peace of Mind but never used it. When you work with a Preparer anywhere they know you quickly simply by looking at your records. How you keep, bring and present them in Office.Their business is predicated on the Customer providing correct records. The Preparer being current and versed on CURRENT Tax code and having completely up to date Software. There were many times when Kathy entered information where her Software literally alerted to something from prior year, something that she needed to put in, or put in that was no longer allowed. Back to 2011 every Preparer we went to had Software alerts like that.Our difficulties, again with 30 years of NO ISSUES, began when we moved to Maryland. We went to the Premium Offices at Festival Square, Waldorf MD 2012. The Preparer makes a boneheaded error first year, then in 2019 we were notified Federal a tax 2017 Audit.We were kept from our Preparer forced to meet with an unprofessional woman who accused us of forcing/bullying our Preparer to put false information in. She sided with information listed in the Audit that is wrong, you absolutely CAN claim Tolls, Mileage and Parking. IRS should know that, why didn’t HRB Bully Squad know? She (yelling) called us every name in the book. Wrongly we thought this behavior was coming from this Office. No it went all the way up to Kansas City HQ. Our loyalty meant nothing. Now we were their Liability, insulting and demoralizing us and denying every promise was their Business Protocol! This Company changed it’s moral compass when it started giving Loans on Returns. We had to be out regardless that the IRS wouldn’t have paid any attention to our 2017 return had our Preparer not made two errors in our first 3 yrs in MD.Our audit stared July 2019 and they wanted more than $9000. They sent us a check for $200-$250, sent zero accounting with it. When pressed, as rudely and unprofessionally as you an imagine, Ben tells me it’s due to State Tax errors? Our Audit was Federal. They offer a STANDARD of assistance, and with the additional payment of “Peace of Mind” further protections/assistance/financial reimbursements. Their language is ambiguous intentionally, you can’t do anything when they won’t help. Two years, and $1500-$2000 in Fax costs, and $2000 Photocopy/Certified Mail Costs? The IRS closed the audit. All our deductions were allowed and they found our records to be copious and stellar. WE ARE HONEST PEOPLE and HR Block lied!HR Block IS NOT BBB MEMBER. They charge you for Services, for Peace of Mind, but you have to hire an Attorney if they don’t stand by it. The way they make you go away is by treating you like dirt, like you’re a liar, thief, cheat WHEN ITS THEIR JOB TO PROTECT YOU because that’s what you paid them to do. If they think your Documents aren’t correct, sufficient or going to cause Audit their RESPONSIBILITY IS TO DECLINE your preparation. But they take your money, then abuse you. Now I will file with MO Attorney General, FTC and USAG against HR Block because what they did was immoral and they take money without providing the promises. We should have been reimbursed our out of pocket fees and costs related to the Audit including all Faxes, Copying, and Mail, and we deserve a written apology. It was HRB that lied.

My tax preparer ( Thomas Roberts) failed to send my returns via direct deposit as Ive done in previous years. Didnt even ask. After 5 weeks still waiting for a check by mail. If you get this guy, PLEASE make sure you check how you want your tax refunded, because he will not ask you.

Do not go to H&R block the lady Joyce screwed up my boyfriends taxes. She has him in the red on state and federal. 1. She did not add or ask about any schedule C income or expenses that he has. 2. She down the wrong address after he gave her his ID 3. She put down the wrong county. 4. She put down that he is a partial residence in MD when in fact he has lived in MD most of his 48 years on this earth. The only thing she did was put in his W-2 all wrong information. Granted I told him not to go to H&R block because my brother-in-law is suing them for screwing up his taxes and this is in another state. Enter at your own risk!
