My year at this complex was actually pretty good. It was the moveout, and the policies this place implements that warrants a 1 star review.I leased a 2 bedroom apartment with a roommate, and when our lease was up, my roommate chose to renew with a new tenant, and I chose to move out. However, upon moveout, after waiting over a month for my deposit, I contacted the office. I found out that unless both roommates move out together, then its their policy to keep the deposit of the tenant who vacated, and apply it to the new tenant who takes your place. As if that isnt odd enough, they will then pay out YOUR money to that new tenant when they move out at the end of their lease. I spent weeks trying to understand how this is legal, but the office would not explain, and simply told me, over and over, that there was nothing I could do except try to get the money from my previous roommate. All while constantly telling me that they had legally binding documents to back themselves up if I ever tried to sue them, which I never even brought up. Mentioning their legal defense, without anyone asking, tells me all I need to know. Im not the first to call them out. They know what theyre doing is wrong, but they couldnt care less, and they teach their employees not to care either.Anyway, I wouldnt trust these guys again. Like I said, everything else about my stay here was fine. It was only after I moved out that I had problems with them.

I moved to The Retreat about a month ago and everything has been great so far. The staff helped me move in in a very efficient way and the apartment was in good shape. The maintenance issues that I have had so far were rapidly taken care of and with staff that has an amazing positive attitude. I am very happy here and I recommend The Retreat to anyone looking for a place to feel like home.

The great Texas freeze, resulting in widespread power outages, will loom large in our memories for years to come, and for me, so will the care and concern shown by The Retreat team for their residents. Community Director Aaron Leavitt maintained constant contact via text messages providing updates from Oncor on the power outages and other helpful information such as locations of warming stations, reminders to keep faucets dripping, and tips for filing claims on our renters insurance. In the year or so since Aaron has taken charge, there have been many positive changes at The Retreat following several years of ineffective managers who allowed the property to decline. Although some of them made great promises of change, they never followed through or even made much of an effort to uphold the policies stated in the lease agreement.Assistant manager, Christian, was vigilant in keeping close watch on the property and manually monitoring the fire system as it had to be disabled due to pipes bursting in the automatic sprinkler system. And then theres Issac! Issac is head of maintenance and has been at The Retreat since I moved here in 2012 and has always been the greatest asset this apartment complex has. Not only was he out during this recent crisis responding to emergency calls and working hard to maintain the property, Issac can always be counted on to come to the rescue! When I first moved in over 8 years ago, I came home at 2:00 in the morning to a flooded apartment due to a water leak. Issac came right over and did everything he could to help the situation, and nothing has changed since then. Issac can always be counted on to come to the rescue and keep everything going in my apartment.I want to thank The Retreat team for getting their residents through this historic winter weather crisis. You helped us all navigate through this very bad situation with great communication and attention to our needs. I am looking forward to all the great things that are surely in store at The Retreat under the leadership of Community Director, Aaron Leavitt!

Xavier came in to fix all my maintenance issues today & he was great! Got everything taken care of! It has been rough waiting through this pandemic, but when I had an actual maintenance emergency he came immediately to fix my air & then came back next day to fix all my other issues! Very happy with his work, plus a nice positive attitude. Thank you Xavier. Retreat Is lucky to have him.

This is a nice area. Close to shopping. Safe environment. Your experience will depend on how loud your neighbors get. It is easy to hear washing machines, toilets flushing and conversation. The maintenance is very attentive and quick to respond to any needs.Management changes frequently. The trash situation is not ideal. Valet trash is not reliable at times. There are raccoons that get into the trash. The compactor can’t accept everything so trash will set out. There is unsightly mattresses and furniture setting outside the compactor.

I have been a resident for the last year. I wanted to express my appreciation to Christian who has always been kind and professional. He cares about the residents and it shows in how he fixes issues as they arise. No apartment home will ever be perfect, but how the staff handles issues makes or breaks an experience. Thank you Christian for always going above and beyond. I enjoy living here.

This place is amazing. Christian took care of me from day one when I came in to look for an apartment. The apartments themselves are really nice and it is sooo quiet which I love. Any questions or concerns I had were answered and taken care of immediately. I love that it is well lit at night for safety reasons and the location is sooo convenient. The apartments are located right next to a huge shopping center. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a home. Ask for Christian too. He will take care of you through the whole moving process. The maintenance team is great too. Very Friendly.

We’ve lived at The Retreat coming on 2 years now and have had nothing but great experiences from the leasing office staff as well as maintenance. Everyone in the front office is happy, helpful, and welcoming (Jay especially) It’s seriously a breath of fresh air! And everytime we’ve had to call maintenance (not very often) they are knowledgeable and super quick! They’ve always come the same day they’re called. The Retreat staff have made living here awesome! I will never stop recommending this apartment to people!

Update 2019: I recently toured this apartment complex again with my fiancee. We were greeted by Jay who gave us one of the best tours I have ever experienced. He kept us laughing and smiling while showing us the beautiful amenities. Although we did not sign a lease there, I think you will find Jay and the team there to be great professionals2015 - Nice place to live and the management is excellent

After we moved to Waco in July we had a deposit on an apartment in a new complex. They missed deadline after deadline when the manager told us it was not her responsibility to know what the contractors were doing we decided to turn our 3 month lease into a one year lease at The Retreat. Jay handled everything for us and all we had to do was sign the lease. I guess he thinks it his job to know what is going on.

I moved in some time ago, in the good days, when Mr. Sosa, Jay, and Issac were running things. As you can see, everyone loved that management team. Well folks, they’re gone now, and we are stuck with low ballers (except for Issac). I used to read by the pool with my wife, and the pool fountain would provide white noise. I could never hear other residents’ conversations, but now I hear every dirty word. I’ve spoken to younger residents to approach management after I was blown off (those college kids got blown off too). Thing is, I haven’t met anyone from prior to new management who wanted the fountain off. I did meet new, unknown residents (who resembled rednecks), that wanted it off. They sat there in the water drinking beer, groping one another, and speaking in vulgarities. Not once did they get out in 5 hours to use the bathroom! This is who has management’s ear? Now I’ve heard of rent going up, and new managers scaring loyal residents off to rent to new folks for more, and I know that it is legally frowned upon. Let me say this, a lot of senior citizens call the Retreat home, and we will not be bullied. Fix the gym equipment, make sure there is water in there, turn the darn pool fountain back on (it’s been above 95 for the past 4 weeks), make the trash service come on time (not too early), clean up the dog poop problem, and get things under control. In other words, do your job Kim Kirschner (new manager).Just an old concerned party who has been ignored for too long, so Google it is.I’ll post again if things get back in shape.

I was taking a Medical Entomology course (studying insects that are important to human health), and for a class project I needed to find a cockroach where I live. Unfortunately, I could not locate a single roach during the summer semester! I guess thats a win for the Retreat at CTM...not so great for the class project.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Does not care about the paying residents living in the apartments. I haven’t lived here a year and they have replaced the ENTIRE office staff three times. Made complaints about the carpet and wood floors was told there was nothing they could do about it. New staff comes in and handles the flooring. Okay great complained about trash not being picked up on a regular and nothing has been done. At nine months pregnant had a package left in the front office and asked if someone could bring it up the stairs for me. Guess what didn’t get any help had to leave the package in the office a week until I could get a family memeber to bring it up the stairs for me. Put in multiple work orders about spiders and Orkin refused to spray with a new baby in the house. Completely understandable. Went to the office specifically telling them my situation so I could arrange to be gone and still did not have my apartment sprayed for spiders. Left my house two tuesdays in a row so that orkin can come and spray and nothing. This all after having a c-section and bringing home a new baby. The inconvenience of having to pack my things every Tuesday and not have my apartment sprayed is absolutely ridiculous.
