Adrianna Was amazing and so very helpful with getting us all taken care of for our new apartment! my kiddos are beyond happy and love how much space they have.
First, I am a current renter and will likely stay; the location is great and the schools are as well. However, in the years I have been here, I have been repeatedly shocked at how poorly maintenance handles their position. Today for example, after opening two tickets for support on this issue previously: one that was closed with no work done and another that said it was completed a week ago, my shower faucet would not turn off. I called the emergency line as the water was full force and not turning off at 2:14. I had to call into work as well and let them know I couldn’t return. Why? Because even though the office has communicated repeatedly to me that I can authorize entry and ask my kids to step out if I am not home literally every time I do this maintenance shows up and doesn’t do the work. So I called in and waited. They did not show up for over an hour. The water was pouring while I fought with it trying to turn it off. I was able to get it off finally and when they showed up I was told not to over tighten. We have lived here for four years and general wear and tear is an actual thing. When I opened the cases I let them know it was getting harder and harder to turn off and I had to tighten more and more…. Perhaps if they would have replaced the issue the first or second time I asked for help this would not have happened. Thank goodness we didn’t have a water leak— the house would have been flooded before they showed up on an emergency call. The maintenance “head” appears to primarily drive his golf cart and walk his dog. Oh I waited two years for a new microwave handle that broke as well. I was told they had to “order” it. I had mice (along with the entire complex) for a few months my second year here. Getting them to bring pest control out was like pulling teeth. So pretty much expect to have to beg for support if you rent here.
DO NOT RENT HERE!!Look at the picture. This picture was from the upstairs bathroom about to fall through. The renter had called not once or twice but three times. The floor was so squishy and rotted as you can tell. The guy that came out cut the rotted wood but not all of it. It will probably last for another year or two before it starts to get bad again. Don’t give them the chance. Highly recommend
Took 8 days for someone to acknowledge my request, however maintenance person was nice, fixed everything on list and he did it fast. Lived here for a year now and this was my first time needing some things done. Overall pleased. Thank you!
We feel we were definitely taken advantage of due to the fact that we were moving from California to Vancouver. We had my brother (who we trust very much) check out the property and look at an apartment for us. They showed him the front of the property (which looks the nicest) and an apartment towards the front. He gave us his approval and we applied the same day. We were not aware that the unit we were going to actually get was was not the unit he looked at but a unit on a different street at the back of the property. Renaissance at 29th also neglected to tell us that our neighbors were filthy. If my brother would have seen the unit we were actually going to get, he would definitely not have given us his approval. We were not told about the neighbors until my boyfriend had finished signing paperwork. The property is completely covered in dog feces because no one picks up after their pet and the trash is always overflowing into the parking lot. We did not feel safe where we were due to the numerous shady individuals we witnessed and our old neighbors made us feel uneasy as well. There is a collection of shopping carts on the property, and the BBQ/fire pit area is very unclean and not taken care of. They let us out of our lease due to the fact that we felt unsafe but that was after numerous emails back and forth with the manager, which took weeks. When we got our move out statement, they charged us for utilities and carpet cleaning (which is to be expected), but they also charged us $175 for cleaning, when we left the unit cleaner than what it was when we moved in (with pictures to prove it). We just paid our balance so we didnt have to deal with them any longer. Im not one to leave negative reviews, but I feel this all must be said. Save yourself time and from a headache and look elsewhere.
Horrible. I’ve put in several maintenance request over a month ago to have nobody come fix anything. On top of that I’ve had to add more maintenance requests since because more keeps falling apart. The apartment is a piece of junk.
Hi i am a Resident Here i like it alot apartments are really big and nice but i do have a few ComplaintsI do not like.. How you guys do the wind blower every wendesday at like 9am i cant sleep in on those days i work its kind of a DisturbanceBeBecause I feel like on that day because I feel like cant even sleep in thats to early 9am for that. Manger dont pick up there phones in office when you call... Other wise the people here are pretty quite.
Just drove here to visit my parents. Not sure how or why theyre still in business. The siding is visibly falling off the buildings. Roof is comprimised in multiple areas on every structure. Theyre paying over 1400 a month with hand rails duck taped together. Its a literal slum.
We have lived here for 10 years and until now there have been no problems. Been without a washer since Sept 1. Office is working on it. Really??? These apartments used to be good however lately they have an just pay your rent and deal with everything else yourself attitude. So now we PAY for a washer and dryer and laundromat. Afraid to ask about repainting or any type of upkeep since I see they charge for everything. After 10 years shouldnt there be some type of upkeep on managements part? We are thinking of going to the actual owners of property and complaining. Sad part is we are STUCK here another 6+ months until we can move. Cant wait to see what extra fees are charged.
I have called this place every day for 2 weeks for leasing information. I havent heard a peep from anyone. Nobody answers the phone. If I could give this no stars I would.
First maintenance request very fast and responsive got fixed in no time. Thank you !
Easy to get get keys and signing the lease! Love that getting furniture into the Apartment is just a straight shot from door to rooms and just a small turn into the smaller rooms. Door is wide enough for everything! Rooms are perfect size for teenagers and all their stuff!
We have lived here for 4 months now and I can say without hesitation that it is over priced and not a good place to live in. We moved in. We were told that move in would be 1300 we ended up paying just shy of 1800 for move in cost and we pay about that in rent. We are being taken advantage of. Will move out when the lease is up. Would not recommend.
I don’t give reviews very often but this upset me to no end today. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life! I would not rent from a company who has no integrity and doesn’t care about who they rob to get what they want. I got the runaround after I paid the $300 fee was told the unit was no longer available until 11/8 so they said they would refund the money. But next day they suddenly had one 2bd 2ba available for $1675 instead of the $1399 I was quoted before I went to view the apartments and because she still had one suddenly open albeit $300 extra a month then I was not entitle to my refund. . This is unacceptable behavior and a blatant disregard for my current situation where I had just lost my job. Keeping the $300 is just heartless and should not be tolerated by management.
Attention you looking for a quiet and clean place, this is not the right place, I have lived here for 5 months and it was just disappointment, the neighbors are unbearable they do not let us sleep, I call the office several days and all I have is to hear that someone will go come fix my dryer, but no one appears, a hell of a hell to live here
If you move into these apartments, please be sure that you keep a copy of every receipt for every payment you make to them as well as a copy of any other paperwork you may receive. Management has an extremely high turnover rate, I have seen about 20 managers come and go in the 4 years I have lived here. Due to such a high turn over rate, no one knows whats going on and each manager is trying to fix paperwork screw ups from the manager before them. We actually paid them $1500 when we moved in that is now unaccounted for. I also know many people that have lived here that are charged criminal-like amounts of money when they move out. If you are good at keeping records, dont mind management and staff constantly coming and going. And not having a working pool for 3 out of 4 years. This really isnt a bad place to live. The quality of people living in the complex is also getting worse and worse all the time.
Living in the apartments was fine - moving out highlighted the sheer incompetence of some or all of the staff. The move-in person never recorded the observed damage on move-in (thankfully I took photos with a timestamp). They tried to charge me for the existing damage and a whole slew of things when I moved out. I talked them down from some of it.Then I paid the final move out fee in-full and on time. Now, a year later - with ZERO contact from anyone at Renaissance Im getting a collections notice from a collections agency saying I never paid them. Thank god I keep copies and proof of everything.Living there was fine - but protect yourself with good records.
Move in was a breeze. Mariah and Pam helped us immensely get through all the paperwork and what not for Housing. We are still finishing moving in, but I can say this much I am going to enjoy living there!
Pros: Layout of the floor plan was ideal and spacious. We got a really good deal on rent when we moved in last summer, but as with all apartments, rent goes up. The location was ideal and close to many stores. I like that they added a fire pit and a shelter with grills. Furthermore, the assistant manager is professional, experienced, and fair. She was upfront about moving costs and did not overcharge us for anything on our final bill.Cons: Unfortunately, there isn’t enough parking space for all the residents and there are no designated spots labeled. Parking fills up quickly in the evening. So don’t try coming after 9pm to look for a spot because you will likely have to park off the street or very far (unless you rent out a garage). There is no cooling system so it heats up pretty quickly in the apartment. It may be a good idea to invest in a good AC. Lastly, I noticed that the maintenance staff was not very thorough when we needed any sort of repairs done. They were always rushing and did the bare minimal (I’m not sure if they’re just short staffed or what). All in all, The Renaissance at 29th Apartments is a decent place to live at. The amenities are nice if you actually use them. If you need a spacious layout this is the apartment for you.
Stay far away from this place! We lived here for 4 years and our whole time there the front desk was a joke and never got back to the tenants when they call for a question. It was ridiculous trying to get them to fix any problems we had or even maintenance requests would take months until its addressed. Their dumpster are ALWAYS over flowing and smells terrible!!
I was told there were three units available and I was interested in applying and becoming a resident. I spoke to the assistant manager, Pamela about the unit I was interested in, which she says has been open for quite a while and price reduced to rent ASAP. The next afternoon my husband went to the office to see one of the units as all three were the same layout. He was told by another woman that nothing was available to show. This was quite an inconvenience as my husband works evenings and drove to the other side of town to take a look. I emailed Pamela to tell her I was disappointed that they couldn’t show him a unit and that wanted to see the layout in person before paying for an application submission, she never responded. I applied and am moving into another complex on Monday. After reading the reviews It looks like I really dodged a bullet.
Very accommodating and they were able to get me in to our apartment a few days early.
Shady management, dirtiness and tow companies trolling the place looking for cars to tow...nevermind the sketchy people living in the garage below our place with a space heater running 24/7....how is that legal?!...left the place clean and then they tried to keep our deposit...like 500 to paint?...we only put up a few pictures and also filled the nail holes with spackle...but they have to paint?...yeah. Ill bet....Also the passive agressive/flippant responses from the management on all these complaints/reviews here are laughable. Its like they dont even acknowledge that there may be a problem on their end. What a sketchy community. Dont rent here
We lived at the Renaissance for 3 years and the management were pleasant and helpful. The groundskeepers and maintenance were very nice, they always kept it clean and responded right away to any concerns. Our only concern we had was the parking, they need to resolve that problem. The Renaissance is a quiet complex and is well taken care of.
Nice bunch of young people running it. Prettya quick in coming when called. I would have to change my mind on that they are nice but it took almost 2 months to get microwave. I have asked to be prorated but have not got a response yet
We got a updated apartment its very nice been here almost a year now, management is great to us. Only complaint would be parking but buying a garage fixed that problem. As for people saying noise from neighbors u can here a little bit here and there but theyre apartments not homes ! Id say the new management is working hard to try to make everything better just give them some time
Cute apartment. Reasonable price for now as I’m seeing. Been here a night and was woken up at 4:30am. Due to my upstairs neighbors allow their animals to run all around. Complained to one lady in the office but I’m sure nothing with change. As night two is coming along all day since 4:30 AM the noise hasn’t stopped. And it’s almost 7pm.
Very satisfied with the apartment, however the parking and customer service is just not okay. 70% of the time that I call the office, no one answers. I have even gone to pay pay my bill a couple of times and the out to lunch sign said they would be back at a certain time and they werent. So, I had to wait 15 plus minutes to still have to come back and pay my bill. If we got home past 8 pm we would have to park at least a 5 minute walk from my unit, sometimes having to park on the street or in the visitors section. All said in done, the apartment was brand new and was really nice and clean, but the customer service wasnt great.
There is no parking in the area, and if you park in a space the wrong direction they give you a $50 ticket. No assigned parking either. You are forced to park on the street most nights. When I moved into my unit, they did not disclose to me that I live underneath a family with 2 young children who would constantly make loud noises. They also didnt disclose to me that the building behind mine was under construction for 6 months, and from 7 am to night time I would hear loud banging.Every time you work with this office they always has some kind of hidden piece of information they dont give you so they can charge you more money. They are not transparent and they have hidden fees everywhere. Theyve made many errors and never are accountable for them. In one word, this place is a total SCAM. I should have figured that when I called them for move out information, they left out a piece so they could charge me an entire extra month. I fought that and got it resolved luckily. Also, when I had the move out inspection, the staff member that came for the pre-move out inspection acknowledged that the bubbling under the vinyl flooring was not caused by me, there was no physical damage on it. Now I get my move out bill they are trying to charge me $900 for it. Do a Google search vinyl bubbling is because moist air rises from below and gets trapped under the surface, causing a bubble. So are you trying to say I put moist air under the floor? That is absurd. They need to train their staff better in general if they are legitimately making these mistakes. Their lack of transparency appears malicious to me. I will fight this flooring charge with all my power and complain on every front until it is resolved.
We enjoyed our townhouse but mainly because of the area in the complex where we were located. We lived on the north side of the property where it was quiet and there was lots of open grass commons areas. The part we did not enjoy about the apartments was no designated parking. 1 spot per unit guaranteed would have been nice. Coming home at 8pm and having nowhere to park is not awesome. We did have 4 vehicle break ins and 1 vehicle stolen during our residency. Also, they send the parking commission through to ticket violators and apparently residence also. The apartment towed our vehicle after the permit was stolen from a break in and we got stuck with 2, $50 tickets and a $600 tow fee, the manager had no sympathy. Walls are thin as paper and the floors creek sooo much. The complex could have been better maintained as far as trash laying around the grounds and the garbage overflow. Maintenance issues were usually quickly resolved.
Ive been living here for about 8 months now, and Its been nice. First off, its your typical apartment living. The apartments look nice, inside and out. Lots of green on the property, which I enjoy. The lobby is well kept with free coffee and candy and a small office/computer area that you may use. Theres a gym, pool and hot tub- all are nice. Rooms are a tad on the small side but its not bad- the master bed and bath are a decent size. The kitchen and living area are nice as well and you have a decent amount of porch space. We rent one of the garages and its of good size and close to our apartment. Maintenance and front office staff are helpful and friendly. You get at least a 48 hour-10 day notice for any renovations, staff notices, etc. So far all of my neighbors have been polite and havent caused any disturbances. The rent is a little high and the apartments arent as big as Id like (we have the 3 bed/2 bath), but the convenience factor of the location of the apartments make up for it. I love the neighborhood that its in- youre located a 5 minute walk away from the Fishers Landing transit station which routes to downtown Portland, Park Rose, Camas, all of Vancouver, etc. Theres an abundant variety of shopping, grocery and food outlets within walking and driving distance- very nice! Also the surrounding neighborhoods are a plus- theres a dog park with a walking trail and a playground a block away from the apartment along with the ones located within the complex. If youre looking for a place to live, its not bad at all. I was shocked to see the negative reviews. Hope this was helpful!
The maintenance takes a long time to get to your apartment and they arent properly doing their jobs / making sure everything is fixed 100% . They raise the rent higher and higher than we can pay every year 150 dollar . And they raise the utilities ( which is not included in the rent ) every month . We pay a lot out of pocket more than we can afford. They call us all the time for uncompleted work saying it is completed and they ask us to pay for things we need fixed.
I love the staff. Very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable when I need anything. Keep up the good work ;)Well today sadly we move out of this place I enjoyed my 2yr. stay here I say bye to Alysha and Cody. you guys made it Pleasant I like the fact that you respond as promptly as you possibly can that you dont get give people the run around and that you guys are attentive thanks again 😊
Ive lived here a year and a half and thats a year and a half TOO long. So, our lease was up in February and we were planning to move because this place is overpriced (Im disabled and living on a fixed income... they know this). The guy at the office told us that if we stayed, our rent would go down. So we did. Not only did our rent NOT go down, they raised it on us! Yes, we should have read the lease more carefully but I believed the guy. (Lesson learned)So I started working with the assistant manager (who is really nice) on getting the rent at least reduced to what we WERE paying before. But, its now been a few months and nothing had changed, so I started to press the issue earlier today, only to have the manager tell me that our renewal offer had disappeared so there was no way to know what was said. Then, just now, one of the ladys in the office told me that I signed the lease so that was that, there was no going back.Let me say this again, THESE PEOPLE LIED TO A DISABLED PERSON ABOUT LOWERING HIS RENT, ONLY TO TRICK HIM INTO RENEWING HIS LEASE SO THEY COULD RAISE HIS RENT!!!UPDATE: I did as they suggested in their reply and went to the office to discuss the situation, thinking that just maybe they were going to try and make things right. Nope! I walked all the way down there only to be told the exact same thing I was told before. Please dont act like youre going to make things right when youre not.
I wouldnt rent here again. We have siding that is coming off our building that I hope doesnt fall on anyone, garbage over flowing into the parking lot that isnt picked up at the garbage bins for weeks, and repairs that never seem to get done. At this point my washer hasnt been repaired for 25 days, even with numerous e-mails and call with promises that it will be taken care of. It took two weeks for my neighbors broken water pipe to be repaired. This apartment complex has seriously gone down hill.
We lived there for nearly 5 years (2011-2016) and at first it was a Godsend...but it was obvious that the carpeting hadnt been replaced in quite some time as well as any other updates. Then when it came time to move, we got charged for all of the remodeling they were going to do anyway (painting, new carpets, etc.), which should NOT have been our responsibility. This was when they were in the midst of remodeling all of the apartments and we had initially considered moving into a single story 3 bedroom but the price was more than we were willing to pay. We moved to another state but the money they claimed we owed was ridiculous, the only thing that we should have been charged for was a bedroom door. Also, the office staff was difficult to get a hold of, this is true.
The maintenance guys were very fast and friendly. much appreciated
Avoid this place at all neccessary, no parking cheap build (literally watched a car drive through a building last year, car had no damage apartment had a lot.) They keep going through managers, pool is hardly ever open. Rent keeps going up. The management will literally tell you your a few dollars short if you dont get a rent receipt. The dumpster area is always dirty and cluttered. All of their garages are way overpriced.
It took 5 weeks for a broken bathroom faucet to be replaced because under staffed maintenance, & almost 5 weeks without a washing machine, finally they replaced it with another one out of another apartment & it was very dirty, but with a good cleaning I’m glad it is all good now happy to have a washer again & bathroom faucet.
Do not waste your money here. Never in my rental history have I had as many issues as when my family and I moved here. The floor plan is awful, who doesnt have a bathroom on the main level?? The floors arent even and you feel the tack strips under the carpet. The office staff is less than welcoming and dont do much of anything that I can tell. They are rude and incredibly unprofessional. The mail gets routed through the office and large packages get dropped off there, but you have to guess if you have a package or not- they pick and choose when they put a notice in your mail box. They dont take care of the trash, they let it pile up, and on hot days thats all you smell when the windows are open. Theres no AC, and really no air circulation. The rent is too high and they charge you to have a cable set up so not only do you have to pay the cable company, you have to pay the complex as well. Absolutely ridiculous.I cannot wait to move! We would have moved so much sooner if it didnt cost a fortune to break the lease!
You have to pay for $50 cable. Why? To keep prices low. But wait, they increased my rent by $200 after living here a year making all payments on time and having a clean record? Yep. Broken appliances, given the wrong apartment, had a two week move in delay on their part because the apartment was being painted. After we moved in they still came in to put up blinds. Our fridge has been fixed about 6 times, and still doesnt work, so we have nowhere to keep our groceries, costing us hundreds. Terrible loudneighbors all around. NO PARKING AT ALL, weve been towed three times due to poor directions on Managements part on where to park, only one time was really our fault. Parking turns into a battle Royale at night. Many unnecessary fees and rules. You are not allowed to throw away unwanted furniture, bit really a big deal for us, but why not? Half garages are dented and the wall boards are falling off, so the complex looks terrible. The heat is forced with no way to turn it off, so if you are too hot, then suck it up. The apartments dont have ac, so the summers are miserable. Our apartment is very dark, there are very few built in lights. A few dangerous, sketchy people roam the area late at night too. Ive had a firearm brandished at me by another resident for no good reason in my way home. There are many homeless dumpster divers that wander around the complex at night. Management seems to be more concerned with getting new people to move in than taking care of whos here. So yeah. Dont move here.
I am VERY unhappy with the service here. There are so many things I find wrong with this place where do I start? I will simply talk about the most recent problem.I have a brand new Chevy Bolt EV. This car has a large plastic piece that covers the space behind my rear-view mirror. That means I cant hang any tags off my mirror as they wouldnt be visible. To follow the rules of the complex I need to display a tag showing I am authorized to park in the lot. I placed this tag on my dash for lack of a better space. One night on my way home from work it must have slid off. The next morning I woke up with a ticket on my windshield for $55.00!!! This should not be a problem as I am allowed to park, my ticket just fell off. When I called the parking enforcement they told me I would have to pay the ticket regardless as that is how the complex pays them.I told the young girl in the office and she directed me to the manager who didnt call me back. That was 5 days ago. Today I called back and again asked to speak with a manager and again was told she will call me back. This is RIDICULOUS!!!This is just one more problem I have living here.
Great apartment living - considerate neighbors, and friendly helpful staff. Big apartments with modern upgrades - lots of space!
Management need to start being strict on enforcing the complex rules! Should have on-site security to start distributing citations to individuals who are not in compliance with the rules. Also, send out quarterly newsletters about the complex via email or text notices.
Never any parking. Pool always closed when it’s hot outside. Thin walls
Real review pending move out. Move out has major problems as anticipated. When I had the move out inspection, the staff member that came for the pre-move out inspection acknowledged that the bubbling under the vinyl flooring was not caused by me, there was no physical damage on it. Now I get my move out bill they are trying to charge me $900 for it. Do a Google search vinyl bubbling is because moist air rises from below and gets trapped under the surface, causing a bubble. So are you trying to say I put moist air under the floor? That is absurd.I tried to call, no one is returning my calls like usual. I will be showing up everyday at the office until this is resolved and calling the corporate office everyday.
Very nice. we have neighbors that have dogs and are very loud and we have kids running in streets so those are the bad things but for the most part the apartments are great
Only move here if you can stand the sound of stomping constantly above your head. It is impossible to get a good night sleep if the person who lives above you has dogs, or if they are up all night. Everytime the dogs run or bark, we hear it. We wake up. Even the baby wakes up. And there is NOTHING the complex will do about It. I wish we could break our lease already and weve only been here one month!!!! The man above us is up all night and we hear every step. It sucks big time. This has been one of the worst experiences of my life.
The quality of maintenance and grounds keeping is subpar at best. Dumpsters are always overflowing and only emptied every few days. There has been a couch next to the dumpster for three months. There is so much trash on the ground next to the dumpster it will fill up another dumpster, possibly two....Squirrels, birds and rats frequent the disgusting trash piles on a daily basis. Multiple times this has been brought to managements attention and the response is always one of three things: our grounds keeper is off on Sunday and Monday, we are understaffed, or groundskeeper is on vacation. All of which means I have to see this trash pile everytime I open my door. Apparently when the groundskeeper is on vacation there is no trash collection. This is a huge complex and the level of staffing is completely inadequate and the excuses given are unacceptable. So if you like looking at trash piles this may be a great place for you.
Dog park is nice, they have a pool. If youre looking for a place to live, you might want to consider elsewhere. This place has some pretty sketchy tenants.
Can we.please give a shout out to our engaged and friendly new maintenance folks? People, please pick up after your dog(s)!
Took about a month for parts to come in to get the job done. But other then that no other issues were going on and the service has been awesome in response to requests.
Loved the location, within walking distance of Fred Meyer, restaurants, and a bus stop. Left because I relocated to California, but would consider moving back into Renaissance at 29th if I make it back to the area.
Comfortable living:) Great community for family orientated lifestyles!
UPDATE AS OF 2/11/2020-Nearly 9 months after moving out and paying the $400 cleaning fee, which you can see I discussed in my previous review, the incompetent and inept management apparently sent us to collections. This is despite having records of payment from the management company and the bank. I contacted a Pam at the front office who claimed it was her own personal mistake, and that when she took over management of this complex, she didnt adequately research accounts before sending them to collections. She straight-up told me she didnt so much as look at the accounts before throwing us into collections. This is also evident due to her finding record of the payment after a 20 second hold. If it was that easy to see we had paid, why on earth were we sent to collections? In my household, we have *virtually never missed a single bills due date, ever.* When I called the collections company to contest the transaction, we provided NCS with all of our banking information and confirmed that the money was paid. This was 100% administrative breakdown on the part of the folks at Renaissance.I was trying so hard to be lenient with these guys, and be understanding that mistakes sometimes happen. However, Pam never once called me back and does not pick up the phone when I call anymore. Multiple voice mails have gone without return. Im totally disgusted with the employees and management here. They have the audacity to reply to Google reviews stating if anyone has a problem they should just call their number, which they never pick up, or stop by the office, which always has a clock up. Im astounded and disturbed at the blatant disregard and disrespect I received from Pam. How dare you treat your customers like this. We just bought a house and would have been unable to get our 3.2% interest if this had happened merely weeks prior. Im a commercial property manager myself, and there are multiple levels of approval and hoops to jump through to take a customer to collections. It isnt possibly something that is accidentally done. These people literally cashed our check and reported the payment as missing without even checking into the issue. And no, Im not interested in swinging by the office or calling you again. If this issue persists, you will be meeting my attorney. Dont even dare updating the response to this review. Youve already done quite enough.------------------------------------------UPDATE AS OF 6/20/2019-We lived in this complex for three years. It was not as bad as some people here say, but it was far from meeting our expectations. These are the following complaints I have which do need to be addressed by the managers:1. Trash pickup.2. Dog rule enforcement.3. Noise.4. Pick up the phone. They never do, and they never call back.We had no pets or kids, and took our shoes off when we came inside. We left the apartment pretty much immaculate and move-in ready. We were to pay for a carpet and general cleaning when we moved out, which cost us $290 together. The only other thing they billed us for was replacing the drip pans for the forge. Overall, a fair and honest move-out assessment. We are very thankful for that.Rent at your own risk, folks. Come look during the weekend to get an idea of how loud this place is.
There are time that you do have to be persistent when dealing with some items, which I dont shy away from in general they have addressed all the issues we have run into. There are some things that I personally would do differently but all in all they do their best with what they can do.
Listen to the reviews as they are accurate. We relocated from Wisconsin and learned only after arriving how accurate they are.1) Rent was as stated. However not disclosed until you get there are tons of extra mandatory fees ($45 for basic cable, $15 trash, $35 for common area maintenance, etc). If you want to pay rent online service fee of $5. The office claimed the fees cant be included in the rent because of accounting rules. Technically these fees are charged by companies the management company partners with to provide the services. They also do not mention your water and sewer are not your actual use but rather by what the building used divided by the number people supposedly in each apartment.2) Off street parking was pointed out as a big positive when viewing the place. Sadly we toured mid day during the week. We regularly had to park on the street as far as a block away. We asked about this as its clearly evident when living there that many garages are being used for nothing but storage or even as a living room (couch, TV, re-fridge in one case) despite the lease stating garages are to be used for parking. Nothing happened but the management did say they found numerous units having been assigned as many as 6 parking passes. Supposedly this was rectified however parking never improved.3) Grounds maintenance. The bark park, surrounding grassy areas and boarders of the complex were a mine field of dog waste. The trash cans for the dog waste would overflow for days. Some tenants did try to clean up so areas would look good for a day or two. We hit one of those when we looked at the place. Less of an issue but on average 2 to 3 times a month the trash dumpsters would be overflowing for days.4 Staff turnover is insane. In the four months we stayed before leaving (and they will hit you hard in the wallet) the entire staff with the exception of the property manager had turned over. This included maintenance staff.5) Safety was the concern that finally lead to our leaving. My wife travels for work and would regularly get back late on Th or Fri. She often had to park a block away and walk with her suitcase. We finally ended up getting a garage, $80 per month, so my wife felt safe. The other safety concern was the number of aggressive dogs owned by tenants. Office staff will tell you when visiting that several breeds are not allowed. This is also in the lease. However, when you get there you will see as many if not more restricted breeds than those allowed. When we encountered several which were aggressive office staff said they were restricted and only allowed by law as companion animals. I had one lady go so far as to apologize for the behavior of her Rottweiler saying it didnt get along well with other animals which is why she usually muzzled it. A few weeks later we witnessed a pit bull get loose and attack another dog being walked on leash. The owner had to drop kick his dog in the stomach to get it to let go of the other dogs neck.6) General attitude of staff. They will tell or not tell you what is needed to get someone to sign a lease. We were told when checking the place out that we could have the moving trailer parked for a few days (U-Pack is great!). When we arrived the office said that was not an option. They did finally relent and gave us one day (business hours). But it involved calling the Vancouver city parking authority and U-Pack.7) Breaking the lease. If you choose this as we did read the lease very carefully. Do not expect any response from the office management other than here is what you owe and failure will lead to collections. I had hoped there would be at least a minimal opportunity to meet in the middle considering our concerns with failure of their staff to honestly disclose the property.Forget that! They will not even respond to the concerns raised here even after speaking to them in person twice, on the phone and via email. At this point I wouldnt even be surprised after this to see an owner response saying were sorry etc. etc.
The office staff and maintenance team are so nice and friendly they are helpful.
The good: Nice place to live. Spacious apartments and quiet area. The bad: no assigned parking so some times we have to park on the street. Have had all of the tires on my van slashed 2 times when parked on the street.Another bad : one of my neighbors smokes pot in his apartment and the majority of the time my bathroom sells like weed.Ok for pot smokers but not ok for someone who doesnt and who has kids who use that bathroom.
This is a horrible place to live! When I lived there the trash was always overflowing and Id have to step over trash to dump my garbage and recycling. Also there werent assigned parking. I would have to park either way down the street or at another complex. The service was horrible at taking care of this. One time I had to drive my parents car home and didnt evem get a warning to move car. Within 1 hour there car was towed and it cost me over 400 to get back. If at all possible choose another complex before settling on this place.* I dont live here anymore and would not even want to stop by to talk to you.
DO NOT and i mean do not rent from these apartments. I recently moved out and was charged a $1700+ fee for our move out charge. Charged us out the ass for living there with absolutely no parking anywhere. One night I had to park across the street because remind you- there was no parking. When I awoke the next day my car was broken into with all the stuff stolen out of it. The apartments are overall big and nice, but they’re defiantly cheaply made- carpets squeak constantly when walking on them, everything literally breaks, and when you try to get management to come help fix the problem they don’t even come, I cannot tell you the amount of times we have called and never got responses. You would think the garages are included in the unit, but nope! You have to pay for them which ranged to 80-100+. Anyways one last complain, when paying rent you are paying tons of extra bills on top of rent like cable which is MANDATORY and you literally get your basic channels, and tons of other unneeded expenses. I also found it weird the bathrooms were upstairs in the unit. Overall this place Was by far the worst renting expirence ive ever had.
Renaissance stuck me in a moldy apartment and refuses to do anything about it!My sink has been leaking for three months and the garbage disposal does not work and now the wood is destroyed under the sink. I put in three tickets and nothing has ever been done about it.MOLD and LEAKY SINK STILL NEED TO BE ADRESSED!
Once we had been approved for the apartment and paid the partial deposit to hold the unit, I was unable to get a hold of anyone at the Renaissance office in order to get the final amount we would need to issue the cashiers check for. I tried to get this info for days! Every email I have ever sent has gone unanswered! We were patient when our scheduled move-in date got pushed back by a day, but to be expected to bring a cashiers check and not receive an answer as to what the amount should be is unacceptable. I called twice on the day before we were supposed to move in. A lady who was covering from another property answered and said she would call me back with that info. Later in the day I called again, and again was told she would send me that info. I needed it that day to get the cashiers check. Finally at 4:30PM I walked into the office to talk to someone. The lady who was covering got the amount wrong many times - deposit was wrong, rent was wrong, etc. We had to go over everything many times before arriving at what the correct amount would be for pro-rated rent and deposit. Does this property management company not keep stuff like this on file?A drawer from our refrigerator was cracked in half when we moved in. I took it to the office on 11/1, the same day I paid rent, and still havent gotten a replacement and it’s now 11/19.I paid rent via cashiers check on November 1st. I personally handed it to an employee in the office, only to be greeted with an eviction notice on our door days later for not paying rent. I called the office and they apologized, saying it was due to a change in the way payments are processed and that I had received this notice in error. My first month here and they decide to put an eviction notice on the door even though we have already paid rent? This whole issue was totally unnecessary.I got a $50 ticket for BACK-IN PARKING. I was never made aware of this policy verbally or in writing. There are no signs posted. When setting up the mandatory Comcast cable via phone, I was on the phone with Comcast for over an hour trying to figure out why they couldnt find the contract agreement under the name Renaissance at 29th or the address that appears under the Google profile for the property: 16506 SE 29th St, Vancouver, WA 98683. So I went in to the Comcast retail location in Vancouver only to experience the same thing while sitting in front of a person trying to figure it out. After waiting there for almost an hour and dealing with multiple employees, including the manager, they finally figured out that the contract was listed under The Cove at 2716 SE 169th Ave, Vancouver, WA 98683. Now, do you think maybe Renaissance at 29th could have an SOP in place so that people dont have to waste their time while setting up their mandatory cable? I know the issue has been brought up before because Johnny at the office had told me to go in to the retail location since people at Comcast customer service cant figure it out ever. How about handing out a flier with concrete info about the Comcast contract so that tenants dont have to go through this every single time? Or communicating the name change to Comcast directly? Or making sure the address is listed correctly on Google? Completely avoidable.Lastly, we were told parking was never a problem here. Turns out, it is. My roommate can never find a parking spot when she gets home from work, has to park on the north side of the complex on the street, and then walk all the way to our apartment on the south side in the dark. Not safe at all. We pay good money for this place, can’t find parking, and when we can, we get fined $50 for backing in to a spot? What’s wrong with this picture? Now I can see why Renaissance at 29th has to entice renters with no-cost move-in specials. We have experienced nothing but negativity since we moved in here. I’ve lived in a lot of apartments and have never encountered such a lack of sense of urgency.
We have lived here almost two years, now that we have to break the lease for unforseen reasons we are getting hassled. We have never ccomplained even when we dont have parking spaces. I would not recommend this apartments to anyone not even military its not worth the money. There is only one person in the front office that has been helpful and thats David.
BEWARE!!!Dont be fooled by any of the 5 star rating out there. If I have a choice, there wouldnt be a star at all.In addition to all the 1 star reviews, those were my experience as well.I lived here since 2013 and just moved out mid-April.When I left, there were 2 48-Hours Pre-unit Inspection and a walk-thru the day before I moved-out. Nothing was mentioned and as the matter of facts, the maintain lead even told me that my apartment is kept up nicely, carpet is great and so does the counter tops, etc.Today, 5/14/18, I received an invoice for $1,649.42 for the replacement of carpet damages, counter tops damages, vinyl damages and even broken window. In addition, the monthly utilities (water, garbage and common area) that I pay them never more than $70, they charged me $86.60 for the period between 4/1/18-4/15/18.Also, this place change management like night and day and obvious they are out to get you in any way they can. Please consider this as a warning..5/21/2018 - LESSON LEARNEDTo all prospective tenant of this property:I have to admit it was my mistake for not documenting the responses from property management of The Renaissance at 29th::1- When you move out, do not call and ask for the final amount. In my case, I called and was told the amount and verified again with the receptionist when I handed the checks over and oddly, I still have a balance of $204 (???)2- Need to take pictures of everything in case they threw out some kind of issues just so you end up paying for all their upgrades for the new tenants, who probably thinks everything is so new so beautiful, using your dime.In my case, they have made adjustment for the counter tops, vinyl replacement, broken windows, but the carpet with stains all over, there are 4 pictures, yes 4 pictures, which were not there when I did my last inspection before returning the keys. This they charge me $481.48 for carpet replacement. While I still have not received a new bill from these people, they already sent me threat: .. Our policy is to send all items to collections if it has not been paid in full or a payment arrangement has not been signed within 30 days of the original letter. This being said, yesterday marked 20 days. I would love to come up with a date for payment in order to avoid sending you to collections.I hope this will help any one out there to protect themselves better than I did.
They were great the first 6 months and than left to right add on fees to everything they didnt have enough parking spot for all the attendance living there . You had to park on the side of the road if there wasnt any parking left and at night was scary because how dark the apartment complex was and it just goes on and on..
Nice staff, clean and nice apartment
Friendly, efficient staff. Always promt concerning any maintenance concerns. Quiet, cozy apartments.
They have a serious garbage problem here. As I type this Im watching garbage blow past me on my porch. The dumpsters are all WAY too small and the maintenance people (who are in charge of taking care of the trash) dont seem to care. The dumpsters have been over flowing into the parking lot for nearly 5 days now. Its to the point that myself and several other residents are lodging a complaint with the health department. Its become a serious health hazard.Thats just the tip of the iceberg with this place. My advice: go somewhere else.
Been living here for approx 6 months, the apartment itself isnt so bad, however people have their front door areas with their personal items, and the trash area isnt very clean. The maintenence guys have been helpful, however for the price I wouldnt recommend it. And the parking is terrible. There are also residences that have their dogs poop and then leave it there on the grass...gross! And if you have an issue with smoking, DONT LIVE HERE.. everyone seems to smoke and the smoke goes everywhere..right up into my apartment!! They wont do anything about it. Will definitely be looking to move when my lease is up....Update, will be moving out in May cause the issues mentioned are not being taken care of and the management /owner /company doesnt care. Cant wait to move out to a much nicer CHEAPER place..
PLEASE for your own good, dont move here. This is the absolute worst place to live. Never hated anything more than I hate Renaissance at 29th.I never write reviews for anything and this is my first one, but I will for this place because I feel it is my duty to warn anyone who is ever wanting to consider living here.. please dont. Youll regret it.Management is incredibly rude and extreme moneygrubbers. They will charge you fee after fee and will constantly raise rent.Oh but the worst is the PARKING...The parking here is so horrible. First of all their lots have very limited availability but they do have garages.. oh but the garages are an extra $100/ month!! Thats right, doesnt come with your rent. Every single apartment complex Ive seen give everyone their own assigned spot and Ive never heard of any requiring a permit like Renassence does. They will always look for excuses to give you a parking ticket or tow you. ex: if your pass is a DAY expired. No warning, nothing. Theyll just tow your car without a word... yes TOW IT. If you didnt know to get your car back from a towing lot is anywhere between $400-600.There are just a FEW spots in the entire complex and NEVER any available after 8pm (
My family and I rented the three bedroom apartment and have just moved out. We were told when we moved in the carpets would be replaced and the apartment completely renovated. We expressed our concerns that our child has allergies to pets. We were shown a much nicer apartment prior to moving in. Turns out this was a LIE. We moved in and the carpet was absolutely disgusting. Every time we vacuumed fine white dust filled the canister and cat hair lined the window sill. I had to purchase a new vacuum because the dust ruined my first one. WE LIVED HERE 7 months and had numerous service calls and were told we could have a carpet cleaner come for free. We opted to move out instead. We went month to month for the final month and they upped the rent $400 dollars. They also told us there would be a $100 fee which we paid. We then received a call 1 week later saying it was really $200 and we were required to pay another $100. We paid a $500 deposit. The day we moved out I scrubbed the apartment down, my family is very clean and there was no damage beyond normal wear and tear. Renaissance not only kept our deposit but they are now charging me $171 in fees. I video taped the apartment upon check out/walk through. I have all the maintenance emails and our complaints. THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF. THEY WILL NICKLE AND DIME YOU. THEY SHOW YOU A FAKE APARTMENT AND THEN MOVE YOU INTO A DIRTY, LOUD APARTMENT. The other reviews about the creaky floors, dog poop and rude staff are absolutely true. We had more maintenance calls for doors coming unhinged, leaky sinks, and the nasty carpet that it was a hassle. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! I am now attempting to get ahold of them for an explanation on how they can charge me a carpet cleaning fee after all our complaints and they wont answer, return my call and have blocked my number. Needless to say I will be filing a BBB complaint.
I was a resident for 4 years. At first it was WONDERFUL... the floorplan was so much more wide open than our previous one across the street..and a darn site cheaper. But as time passed by (especially in the past 2 years) there has been such a fast turn around in management. The manager and assistant manager change at least once a year. One was fired and told to move out the next day.. then in came another that forgot to give me my lease renewal. When I got it it was hiked up again and I had an older non-remodeled apartment. I had slugs and beetles coming in from outside from underneath the walls (the walls evidently didnt go all the way to the ground). Also kids couldnt play outside in certain areas of the complexes, and not just by the dog park; everywhere you went around the property you were most likely not stepping in mud, but dog poop. Especially around the edges of the property, people walking by, that dont even live in the property, would let their dogs poop right outside peoples doorsteps. There was sooo much water damage from the two floodings we had from the upstairs neighbor, on top of the damage that was already there from previous tenants. Mold was a huge issue (EVERYBODY in the community talks about this) and I ran my fans almost all day and still had it all over. The maintenance staff was awesome but they were constantly in my apartment fixing the many broken things that come from an old abused apartment. It was ridiculous. My friends apartment, upon renewal, was going to cost her more than a renovated apartment! The raising of the rent was the last straw and my friend and I both had to move. We talked to the manager about this but the best she did was get my friend a $50 deduction in her rent. When we put in our 20 days notice she called each of us and asked if there was anything she could do to help us stay (as if we never had that conversation already). I wanted to scream! Instead I decided to move from the trashy apartments and had to move my family of 6 from home to home since we couldnt afford to live there OR come up with a deposit, nevermind the fact that there was nothing available in the area (all of which I told the manager would happen with the increase of rent). I have learned that if your washer or dryer go out they will not replace it for over a month, Im not even exaggerating! Its happened to at least 3 people. One persons dryer even caught fire. The design of the building is shotty (ask any townhouse user about the floor squeks). My stove vent wasnt connected correctly and the flaps were greased shut and all that was thought to be going out the vent was recirculated into my apartment. My friend had the same problem and her clothes would smell like fried grease from hanging in her closet.During the summer the pool and hot tub are absolutly gross,(thats why the health department shut down the pool for a few days, for sanitary reasons, during the summer) they never clean it out, if you swim to the deeper end of the pool it is not uncommon to find hair, leaves, and dirt at the bottom of the pool. The first few years we lived here, the hot tub was well taken care of, however after that, the summer before we moved, the light in the hot tub came out and was just floating in the hot tub still attached to the hot tub though through wires; of course they did not take care of it until a few weeks later. Also the hot tub was really hard to turn on and would frequently not be warm when on. Please please please realize the company running this is a management company and the real owner of these apartments are in California and they have many many other companies they invest in (at least 16). These owners dont care one bit about whats going on. They are just sitting on this investment to make money. One mad maintenance guy from a while back told me the owners are stingy and will not put much money into these apartments. It shows. I have moved to another apartment complex recently and could not believe the difference. Its like night and day. I cant believe we put up with so much for so long.
The apartments here are okay but the neighbors will make living here a challenge and management will provide no help. Our lease just ended we are very happy to be leaving. The apartment we are in is a 2 story one and the 2nd floor floors are very creaky. Also there are small nails poking out of the floor in the carpet in various places. We learned where not to step but I lost a few socks in the process. My neighbors seem to all have kids and the grassy areas between apartments become playgrounds all summer, weekends and after school. Our windows face onto a parking lot and we were forced to hear kids screaming and riding big wheels all the time. I complained to management about it and around a week later saying the kids playing wasn’t against the rules (it is because I checked in the lease and annoying noises in public spaces is prohibited) but they would send a security officer when the kids were being noisy. After my complaint I repeatedly tried calling to get the security officer sent but the office never once answered my phone. Emails proved ineffective to since they seem to reply to them every 48 hours.Later we had an issue which we thought our water heater was broken because it was vibrating and making noise. We asked for maintenance to look at it on a Wednesday but they weren’t scheduled to come until the next Monday! The noise kept getting louder and louder and it took me pleading with the office to get a technician sent on Saturday to come look at it. The technician was able to figure out in 5 minutes that it wasn’t our water heater but the noise/vibration was coming from the apartment below us. He left and I asked the office what they were going to do about this and they said they couldn’t do anything without notifying the tenant and waiting 48 hours. I took matters into my own hands went and knocked on a few neighbors doors and my downstairs neighbor had left the bathroom fan on for a week and it sounded like it was close to breaking. If maintenance had responded quickly and if the office had humans willing to offer one iota of help I wouldn’t have had to listen to this annoying noise for days. I know they have rules about entering apartments but is it too much to ask that someone knock on the door as a courtesy? Especially since my neighbor was on the verge of breaking their bathroom fan.Management here is very apathetic. They use the rules a crutch so they don’t actually have to do their jobs. Anything more than picking up packages and paying rent was always a struggle. Also there is no rent drop box or online payment option so you need to catch someone at the office which isn’t always easy. There is also a mandatory $40 fee monthly to have comcast cable which cannot be bundled with internet. They provide no cable hardware so you need to order a cable box from Comcast to watch tv or else you are paying for nothing.
I am a visitor in these apartments where my mother inlaw lives. She has now been here for 4 weeks. Since the time of move in she had not had a working dryer. She has done everything possible to get the help from the office and having maintenance come out a couple different times saying the dryer was fixed. After they had left it still would not work. After they finally decided to get a new dryer and replace it... the dryer STILL DID NOT WORK.She has made many calls and been told they would come out and they dont show up.Today the maintenance worker comes and spends a total of 30 min to take it apart and say it was a switch. He leaves and it still is not working. She makes a phone call and the lady answering starts laughing at her over the situation. She then does not let her speak places her on hold and the maintenance man who was here last gets on the phone and says she is a liar that she could not have run through 4 different cycles in one hour because he was here an hour ago, When in fact it was 3 hrs ago he was here. He came out and called her a liar. This place is beyond very disrespectful when it comes to the customer service for their tenants. She has spent so much money now at laundry mats and has told them this and they still dont care dont take care of their tenants and then calling them liars. So if the owner who responds to these sees this... Please understand this is a situation that is happening now. This needs to be taken care of. She pays way to much a month to not have was comes in the apartment when you rent it... And thats a dryer. 4weeks no dryer and lots money on laundry.
Worst place to call home. Neighbors urinated and threw up from balconey onto our patio and bbq grill, management did nothing. Neighbors were always playing loud music making the whole building shake. I also got a parking ticket for parking in a normal spot smh. We lived in a 1 bdr that started at $ 999. Lived there for a year and a half and our last payment was $1600 +. A house payment for a 1 bdr. I advise anyone reading this not to fall for this money sucking trap. You will not get what you are paying for and you will be miserable.
I am a current resident, and there have been some things that the management has been helpful with, but it takes lots of phone calls and emails. Just one example, Our washer broke, and we were told it would be a week before it could be fixed, and suggested we take our laundry to a laundry mat. Not really an option with full time jobs and 3 children. There is also a huge issue with people not picking up after their dogs, and no repercussions for the irresponsible dog owners. Also, there is vandalism running rampant! The gate to the bark park has been broken twice over the past 2 weeks, our mailbox was pried open, and now, the front of the mailboxes has been pried open, so we (along with probably 20 other residents) have not received our mail in 3 days. Also, several months ago, our car was stolen from the parking lot. When I call the office, there is no answer, and my calls are not returned. For what we pay for these apartments, there should be better groundskeeping and customer service.
Broken garage door made it unsafe for our belongings, because we could not close it! To us, it was an urgent matter! Were told an emergency maintenance guy would come, but no one showed.
Youre only aloud to park two cars, but sometimes there is people who will park three or give family members their pass. For the amount of rent you pay you would think you could at least get a parking spot rather than having to park on the street. For such a pricey place the neighbors are all trashy looking. There are furniture and trash that piles up in the bins. Rather than paying your own water they split the bill up between the entire building section. Which usually ends up being 130 dollars or more. Even if you dont have cable youre required to still pay it every month. The mangement is very disrespectful and the corporate office isnt any better. I could complain more, but I believe you get the point Im getting at. Dont waste your time here.
The staff here has worked hard to correct all the issues we have had in the past, there are still some issues that need better attention however I do believe they are working hard on correcting the problems.
Is amazing place.
The parking is horrendous at these apartments. And the quality isnt so good either.
The worst place ever. I have been almost two hours looking for parking tomy car . now 2:30 am. what the....
Reported a couple of issues a fixed right away.
Love living here
Best place i have ever lived in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
