Moved here last august and overall am really happy with it! Maintenance is very quick to respond and the office staff are incredibly helpful and kind. Additionally, you get far more amenities for a much better price than other places I’ve researched! However I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons1. While landscaping is obviously necessary, it seems the noise from the lawn care is constant, whether it be mowing, power washing, or leaf blowing. As someone working from home, it’s been a challenge to work around what feels like unending noise at all hours2. While covered parking is regulated pretty well, no one seems to keep a close eye on guest parking. The same car is parked in the spot right outside my unit 6/7 days a week, but it isn’t considered a lease violation until it’s 14 days consecutively- this is frustrating, to see someone essentially getting free parking and accommodations without paying rent or being held accountable, especially while generating excessive noise in the units above. (They also regularly sit in that spot with their engine running and headlights shining directly into my window at midnights on weekdays)Overall though I am very happy living here and plan to renew my lease this summer - would definitely recommend!
Im going to start off by recognizing the amazing people who show up every day to make their residents feel safe and welcome. Jess is absolutely by far the best. She goes above and beyond making sure were taken care of and if there are any issues she gets them taken care of as quickly as possible. The other office staff are also very friendly and welcoming. The maintenance team Dan and Guy are awesome. They take great care when in my home to follow covid precautions and make sure to clean when complete. They are very friendly, professional and I trust them to come when Im not home (which says a whole lot). They are very patient and kind to my dogs as well.Rent is not cheap anywhere you go in Vancouver. They may not offer AC or have the top of the line finishes or appliances, but the fact I feel safe and taken care of here is well worth the rent every month. I highly recommend them and again thank them so much for welcoming me home.
Lived there for 2 years and maintenance service is very quick.
Lived here three years.Overcharged us moving out even though we did an exceptional job cleaning. Told us our carpet is irreparable but cited no images or visuals of damage, forced us to pay for new. Hence my primary grievance. Construction in the area is constant. Truckers stop outside the safeway overnight, causing noise often.Rent here and in the area is overpriced, but this apartment complex owners have incredible amounts of properties so they can control price. Abysmal covid relief/sympathy at the height of the pandemic. Its a place to live and you might not find a better option but you will likely be exploited to the best of their profit-generating-ability.
Not sure why people across the green are allowed to have a large rottweiler given so many small children are living here. Construction and landscaping noise is constant. Cars are constantly being broken into. Very small space at a premium price.
Monterey is a decent choice but probably overpriced for what it is and what it offers.PROS: Good customer service from leasing staff (Jess). Good apartment layouts with ample natural light. Located near Mill Plain Rds conveniences. Flexible leases for a reasonable price premium.CONS: No AC units! You may not think this is a big deal, but I assure you, it is. You will need an AC unit even in the Pacific Northwest. Its an older apartment community, and while it is maintained decently, it has less amenities and less attractive finishing touches. No frills here! Dont expect quartz countertops or stainless steel appliances. For example, the gym is very small (maybe 2 treadmills and some free weights). If you want a good workout, join a gym and dont rely on your community facility. In my apartment, the bathroom caulking had dust sediments and hair peppered in it (this was the condition upon my move in and it was permanent! It couldnt be cleaned away). Upon moving out, I was charged a fee for a maintenance item I didnt create. If I were to live in Vancouver again, Id only consider the Monterey for a short term lease. If youre looking to sign a lease for 9 to 12 months or more, there are several brand new apartments in the area which are very reasonably priced and well located. For what Monterey charges, they should install new, modern PTAC units (AC and heat technology) in every apartment.
I’ve only lived in 5 different apartments since I moved to Vancouver but by far living at the Monterey Apartments has been the absolute best experience I have had. The management for one are all really nice, and understanding. Very down to earth and genuinely good hearted and helpful. Maintenance is quick and easy, they WANT to fix any problems you may have unlike others. They are always doing upkeep which goes to show how much they care about their building and tenants. They allow basically any change to the apartment, just not on the outside of the building of course. Trash is never overloaded. I could go on but you should just check it out for yourself! A++ rating from me
Dont Deceived, worst company and system. How can this kind of company can get a high sorce? Does all comments written by residents or by their company employee? One advice, dont rent here
Ive lived in many different apartment complexes, and this place is definitely my favorite! The staff and the maintenance crew are such sweet and helpful people, neighbors are friendly and quiet, and I have never had an issues. Their is plenty of visitor parking and not to mention how convenient everything is! I would recommend this place to anybody!
Monterey has a fantastic staff and a great maintenance crew. Being a first time renter I approached apartment living with a lot of hesitation. But living here as been made both easy and enjoyable by all of the wonderful people working here. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking.
Really great community the manager is AWESOME they host every holiday every year something for kids and adults, the people are very welcoming the schools near them are great, I really recommend this place to you since i lived there for 7 years the management is great also
The apartments are nice and well built, and management is very kind and helpful. No parking issues because management enforces the rules, and they keep the buildings and grounds clean and well manicured. My only two complaints are my crazy neighbor and that there isnt a playground, but management has been great in helping us keep the peace and theres a great playground just down the road. I definitely recommend living here!
We have lived with the Monterey for 10 years and have been very happy :) The women in the office are very freindly, helpful and professional. The maintenance is very friendly as well and fast no matter how big or small the job is. The pool and hot tub is always very clean and we like that the hot tubs open all year -Shawna and Ammon :)
I lived at The Monterey Apartments for 4 years. My Husband and I first moved in after getting married and lived there until we recently bought our first home. I cannot say enough great things about the Monterey Apartments! The staff is friendly, the maintenance is taken care of ASAP (even when it was a small issue, they were there right away!) and the location is convenient. I often walked to Safeway for groceries, saving on gas.The noise level between apartments is what I would expect from an apartment and I had amazingly quiet neighbors! Great place to live!
Been here for almost 3 years and the staff in the office has always been amazing for an repair we have needed. Plenty of park and well maintained grounds/exterior.
The location is terrifically convenient, and the staff is wonderful - competent, helpful, kind. Just a really well-run complex.
One start... more like zero stars. This place is horrible. Walls are paper thick and you can hear your neighbors talking to one another, you can try calling management like I did three dozen times, but they dont do anything. So happy I moved out. For what they charge you can pay $75 more and go to a much nicer apartment like Mission Hill. Love going in the jacuzzi?? Good luck its broken almost once a month and stay that way for a few weeks. Dog poop everywhere and I when someone was robbed at gun point they never bothered to mention it, had to read about it in the paper. So happy I moved out, but watch out because their vendors charge almost 3 times what any other contractor/painter would. So stay away from this place because really they dont care about the residents more than they care about money. Also they post notices all the time inconveniencing you all the time, at least 3-4 times a month. The appliances are all outdated and the cabinets are nothing like the pictures. This place is a sham. Never staying at an Al Angelo community again!!!!
My Boyfriend, our daughter and I have been living here for a little over a year, and we love it. They were willing to work with us when we first applied to live here because my boyfriend had something on his record and any other place just looked the other way..All the ladies in the office are super friendly, especially Lyndi she is so sweet. If we ever have an issue, we always wait till we know when shes working and have her help us out because she is always right on top of things. We have never really had any issues, minus the people who lived above us but we complained and they later moved out.Yes Rent is a little pricey, but where is it not? We love this part of town because its close to a lot of places. As much as I would love to be in a house, these apartments are a good starter place.
I have lived in Monterey for over 2 years now and love it. As a first time apartment renter after owning my own homes my entire adult life, I appreciate the attention to detail and maintance provided. The staff is awesome on all account. The few minor issues Ive had have been addressed immediatly, and the maintance requests are always done right away. Overall the complex is quiet, there are always going to be a few exceptions but not enough to form a negative opinion. Its close to everything, clean (aside from the dog poo rule not being enforced very well but I dont spend much time in the courtyards or walking around the grounds). TONS of parking, security is pretty good. I looked at over a dozen apartments and condos before selecting Monterey. I was impressed that overall there were newer cars in the spaces, which lead me to believe the residents mostly worked or had decent incomes. It is important to me that my immediate neighborhood is working class, not trashy. I love living in Monterey and would recommend it to anyone who wants a midpriced apartment, in a decent neighborhood.
Staff is very helpful and understanding. Maintenance is here same day cant complain about that!
They were really understanding
Peaceful. Great Staff, and Clean.
There are the best in the world
Too quiet
