This shop is kind - and honest! They have never tried to sell me anything that I didnt need for my aging 2008 Toyota Prius. Their lobby and waiting area is comfortable and the shuttle service allows me to wait in the comfort of my own home. Thank you, Gaynors Automotive Salmon Creek!

They were affordable and friendly but the follow up recommendations and service were not stellar. I took an old car I had just purchased for an overall inspection. They completed it in a timely manner and provided a detailed report to review. They suggested having the oil changed as they saw no evidence saying when it had last occurred. They missed the sticker in the upper left hand corner where it always goes where it clearly stated the last time it had been done. But they pushed really hard on doing it despite having proper oils levels and it seeming clean. They also really pushed for a full radiator and coolant flush as they noted the coolant was low. Apparently resting just above the minimum line in the overflow tank is “LOW” enough to be a concern and warrant a full blown inspection for a potential leak. It’s a 25 year old Geo Tracker. Of course there is bound to be some type of leak but it really didn’t seem pressing. They warned me not to drive the car in the 90 degree heat despite it having appropriate coolant levels and all other engine components functioning just fine. They had other minor recommendations that I mostly agreed with or were more beyond my level of expertise to have a stronger opinion about.I don’t think I will be going back. I wasn’t wronged I just wasn’t impressed with what was clearly overlooked and how they were pressuring for services that weren’t very necessary.
On time, very clean waiting room and did not try to sell other services. They did a thorough vehicle inspection and gave an honest report on the vehicle condition. I was very pleased.

Friendly staff and on time service. I also really appreciated the detailed service report and rating of each item. Having pictures to refer to was an added bonus. I was not pressured to have any extra work done and that is rare I think. Plus, the cost of the oil change at $39 was beyond amazing and very much appreciated too! While this isnt the most convenient of the Gaynor locations for me (have received service from others and been satisfied) Kyles customer service is worth the couple extra miles. He has taken such incredible and expedient care of me the couple times Ive come in, that Im committed to giving this location my service for as long as theyre willing to put up with me! But seriously, Im so blown away by Kyles kindness, patience, and old-school service skills I felt compelled to post this review.OK following up——I had the great fortune of meeting and working with Jeremiah this week. Once again, the service here has blown me away. He took care of my issues way sooner than originally anticipated, I know he went above and beyond to accommodate. Super grateful, and this will be my primary car shop from here on out!
Had a leak in the AC system so scheduled an appointment. Scheduling was a breeze. Got a text reminder for the appointment which was good because I had forgotten about it. They called when it was done. They gave me a comprehensive summary of what they did, what they found, and how they repairs it. AC works great! I also feel good knowing if there is another leak somewhere that they will only charge for the labor and parts to fix the new leak, not to extraction or recharge the system.
Salmon Creek location is the to go place and I wish I know that earlier. My car’s starter and battery needed to be replaced two months ago, and AAA got me into Gaynors at HazelDell for me. Yesterday, the battery wasn’t working properly. Therefore in the early morning today I went to the Hazel Dell location, however they made it very difficult for me. The guy said they were too busy to check my battery and need to come back the next day and can’t tell how long it could take. The attitude was so bad and careless. Then I headed to Salmon Creek location. They just helped me checked the battery right away and suggested replacement. And then they replaced it right away for me. That was incredible! They are totally awesome! Saved my day! I strongly recommend the Salmon Creek Gaynors.
My old mechanic had retired and I needed a new place to take my vehicle, I tend to be sceptical of some of the things mechanics say need to be done. Gaynors impressed me with their professional approach and sent me text photos of concerns that I should consider (leaking shocks, torn CV boot). I will be using them again.
After installing new alternator, I drove the car on the freeway and electrical problem returned. It was determined that the replacement alternator was defective, and was replaced again... It appears to have been resolved. My issue is that a more comprehensive test drive after the first repair should have been done as the technician would have known about the defect and I would not have had to go through the entire process again. I have been a customer for years, and I do trust Gaynors work generally. I will continue to do business with them.
The work was great everything is perfect. The billing process was horrible. They told me one price on the phone, but when I got there they quoted me 1/3 more. Then when they went and got the person I talked with on the phone he stated he quoted me 80% more. I complained and stated that was not true. After he reviewed the notes in the computer he charged what he originally said on the phone. I have used them for years they are very good, but keep notes on what they tell you over the phone.
Gaynor’s has always done a good job for me. Most recently I had a problem that was difficult to diagnose. They stayed with it until they figured it out and now it runs perfectly. I tried another shop first that could not figure it out.So I think I’ll stick with Gaynor’s. They are not cheap, but their prices are fair, and they will get it right.
They squeezed us in as our child was getting ready to leave for college. They diagnosed and everything was fixed in a timely manner and a job well done.
Great communication. They found some safety issues I wasnt aware of but now my car is fixed and running smoothly. Only issue was it took almost a week but fortunately I was able to borrow my moms car, so no issues Needing the car back fast. They do good work And are my GoTo Choice for auto service.

Trash left in vehicle- dirty floor protector and steering wheel protector left on seat (perhaps Covid protocol- doubtful). Wanted $260 to replace a single coolant line ($58 part). After they had already disassembled the area to inspect it and find it for another $65.Performed their typical maintenance inspection which listed 2 broken items on my vehicle as in good service, which ought to tell you the typical courtesy inspection is a crock.When I called them on it they said that my emergency brake worked fine and that they didn’t notice the exhaust leak. Well the exhaust leak is still there and is very noticeable and the emergency brake still doesn’t work.Not a lot of quality here and for the rates, I’ll shop the next “reputable” shop.

2016 Kia Sportage with no warning or prior issues had the engine die on a hwy heading back from a hiking trip. After an attempted jump start we had it towed to Gaynors Salmon Creek location over Memorial day weekend.Called and left a message stating I believd my alternator had failed, also set an appointment online for Tuesday at 9am. No call was recieved by mid afternoon so I called and spoke with Kyle. At the time Kyle stated they also believed it was the alternator but could not find one locally and it would be a safe bet that the car would be done by Thursday. He indicated the charge for the diagnosis and repair would be a bit Iver 900$. I asked for a breakdown in that cost. Close to $500.00 for the alternator, rest was diagnosis and labor + tax. I did ask what type of alternator was $500.OEM, apparently they will only use OEM parts. At least thats what I was told.I agree to have it fixed and Wednesday afternoon I get a call telling me thats it is not the alternator, it was the starter and battery. Kyle stated they tried to start it many times and that it did start up a couple times but would always immediately die. He said the Starter started smoking. That along with my battery being basically drained was why they felt it was the starter and battery. They would have the starter late that night and start work on it Thursday. Total would be a bit over $750.No call from them on Thursday so I called around 3:30 pm. Kyle said that it should be done around 5:15. I get a ride from my wife to the shop, arrive around 5:10, see my car still on the lift. Go in, asked Kyle if it would be done, he went out to the shop, came back in and said yes. I went out and told my wife she could take off.Went back in, sat for a few minutes and Kyle came out to tell me it would not start, that they wanted more time to look at it. Offered to give me a ride home and to call me the next day. Called my wife, she came back and we went home.Following morning Kyle called and indicated that something in the engine was binding and that they suggested we have it towed to the dealership as it may still be under warranty. Kyle also said I could keep the battery and would not be charged for the starter or work done.Obviously a frustrating situation, lack of proactive communication by Gaynors as well as miss diagnosis.Here is why I still rated them a 4. While I had my suspicions the tech had burned out the starter himself I did not call that out. I wanted to see what the internal decisions would be once everything was said and done.Without the need to call out the issues I experienced and what I believe had taken place a decision was made by their management to wave all costs and allow me to keep the new battery and obviously new starter.In my experience many companies today have very poor management that prefer not to make the tough call but right decision. Either they are scared by owners or upper management or they lack true management skills. That was not the case at this location.Mistakes can and do happen. While obviously not the best experience (Time it took, proactive communication, overuse of the starter while trying to diagnose the issue) I can now say I do absolutely trust the current management staff to make good decisions when reviewing difficult situations. It appears to me they will do what is right at the end of the day. In many situations today that is what is needed, mistakes will be made, interactions wont be perfect, but you need good management to make sure at the end if the day the right decision is made.

Brought in a used Ford Transit for an inspection before buying. They did a great job and produced a super thorough report. Kelly answered all my questions and did a great job helping me understand all the jargon. Worth the time and money.
We took our 2012 Prius to Gaynors because the battery had died and it needed an oil change. The battery passed a charge test but tested weak, and they recommended a replacement. We took their advice, although I think perhaps we could have asked a few more questions (e.g. why replace it if it passed the test?) In all other respects I was happy with the work.

I made an appointment online for an oil change for the next day. I chose 2 different time of day. I made sure I was up and ready for the morning time. I checked email about an hour before my fist appointment time and there was a email waiting for me to let me know my appointment time was my second choice. Upon arrival, I was greeted graciously and asked if I was going to wait. (There is a Starbucks nearby so I went for coffee) So he verified my # and off I went. I came back to the lobby early and waited. Lobby is very Customer friendly. Coffee, pop, juice, water. When car was done, seem less check out, and they even pulled the car in front for easy departure. I’m very impressed and been coming for years.

I had such low mileage due to home quarantine. They advised I could wait several months before bringing in the car. I was able to wait right there (wearing a mask). I really like the emailed car checklist, complete with a picture of my car.
Excellent and quick maintenance on my 11 year old Honda Odyssey. My alternator died and I contacted Gaynor automotive in Salmon Creek for a repair quote. They also advised me on a towing company if the one recommended by my insurance company wasnt available. (Shout out to TLC towing from Ridgefield, WA-- my insurance preferred towing wasnt available for a scheduled tow until Thursday). They took the van in on a Wednesday afternoon and it was repaired by Thursday morning. Great communication and 3 year/36k mile warranty on all repairs and lower prices than the dealer.

My car had a check engine light come on and was shaking badly. I took it to the nearest auto shop I could find, which was Gaynor’s in salmon creek. I didn’t want to drive to my normal auto shop in fear my car would get worse. The gents were so friendly and kind. Devon at the front desk let me know my car was in good hands. I got a call from letting me know what was wrong and how they were going to fix it. I immediately got a text with everything he discussed and photos of my car to help me better understand what they were doing (my other auto shop doesn’t do this!). I picked my car up the same day! Kevin my technician and Tim were fantastic. The team of people working their are such a cool crew. They quoted me a fantastic price, which meant I left driving away with a smile on my face. They really took care of my car and of me. If you’re in the Vancouver/Portland metro area, the guys at Gaynor’s salmon creek are good people to trust you car with. Gaynors is my neighborhood repair shop ... My Acura had randomly developed a rough idle at a stop signal, then hesitated when I excellerated on I-5 ... I had asked them to perform 3 regular service items and when it was still showing a misfire they quickly diagnosed the situation, which was something I had paid another company to perform as regular maintenance 3 years ago. They went out of their way to help me on the cost even though it certainly wasnt their fault the other company hadnt done what I paid for! They are always courteous, helpful, and while they tell me things to plan for, I have never felt they try to oversell me ...
My car battery was dead and it needed a specific type of battery. They were able to get it the same day and get it installed. It was all done efficiently and quickly.

I went in for an oil change and to check why my air conditioning was stuck blowing the air out the bottom vent. Before hand I did research and assumed a actuator was bad. They confirmed this, and then offered to fix it for 8 times the cost of the part itself. I installed the part at home using a YouTube video and about an hour. They also offered an extra $2000 of services even though my car is in “excellent condition”. I declined. They left my car dirty, smelling like gasoline, a screwdriver was still in my cup holder, and the dashboard was still partially taken apart. They did fill up my windshield wiper fluid though which is nice. Good front door service as well.
I dont usually write reviews, but in this case I really want to show my appreciation for Gaynors going above and beyond my expectations. My wifes car wouldnt start while she was at work and we were having trouble getting a tow truck to show, so the mechanic, Tim, actually drove to my wifes work and jumped started her car so we could take it to be fixed there! They were able to fix it right away and at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this place for exceptional customer service, and guaranteed quality of work.

I am a fan of Gaynors and a regular customer. We had two of our vehicles in for oil changes this week. I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 this time because there was nothing stated about precautions they were taking due to Covid-19. I see it on their website now and and the staff members in the front office were wearing masks; however, nothing was posted or mentioned about the procedures for sanitizing the vehicle. Doing so is reassuring and shows customers you care. If it were my business, I would have it posted on the door and have a little card stating what precautions have been taken that either gets handed to the customer with their keys or left in their vehicle.
I have had an incredible experience with the Gaynor guys. They are honest and explain what is going on with your car.My favorite was I went in to get brakes because I was told I needed Brakes in 3000 miles they showed me and informed me that I did not need brakes at this time that I still had 75% of my brakes but I did need a cabin filter.By the looks of my cabin filter it had never been replaced at the other automotive places I had taken my car. I so appreciated their honesty and integrity.

Great place to get work done right
I had to take my car in for an oil change and the inspection turned up some serious problems. They were able to keep my car that afternoon and get it back 2 days later. They provided a ride to and from my home and provided detailed feedback about what was going on with the car. After the repairs they showed me the old components and explained again showing the points of failure of the parts that occurred. I feel they were very professional and timely. This was my first encounter with them, but I will be heading back if my car needs future work!
After a routine cooling system flush, my check engine light kept coming on. It took several return trips, including a visit to Mazda to check the firmware level of my thermostats, but Gaynors never gave up. They persisted to the point of redoing the cooling system flush and did extra tests on the heater to see if anything could be found. Eventually, they did find some gunk in the heater and force flushed it out. Its been over a week now and the engine light has not returned. The best thing about all the extra time and attention was that it was at no additional cost. I was also kept informed of what was being diagnosed the entire time by Devan. Great work and dedication to the customer. Thanks for seeing this one through.Friendly, effective service.

This was my first time to Gaynor’s. I was getting 4 new tires at Costco & needed a business for a wheel alignment. My friend recommended Gaynor’s. He also had a discount coupon which he gave me. I called Gaynor’s and received an appt right after Costco installed my new tires. I found taking my car to Gaynor’s - fast, punctual, professional & reasonable compared to name brand car services. Gaynor’s also is local so I didn’t to drive to Portland from Vancouver.

Great service and competitive pricing. I deducted a star because when I called to schedule my appointment, I specifically asked for a transmission flush AND and oil change. After receiving the call that my car was ready, I headed back in to pick it up only to discover that no oil change had been done. I was not charged for it so it isnt the end of the world, but now I have to take my car elsewhere to get the oil changed, thus eating up more time out of my schedule.
First of all, if I could give negative stars, I would.I took my car in after having issues with it starting for a couple weeks. It was to the point where I had to jump it to get it running at all. When I dropped it off they said they would look at it right away and get going on it.They later called me and told me it was the alternator and the AC pump, quoting me $2300. That pricing was a bit steep for me so I told them to take my car down and I would be getting a second opinion. Jason who I spoke with over the phone, did not like my response at all from the tone of his voice.A couple hours later I went to pick up my car, they informed me I am going to need to get the car jumped to get it started... I am well aware. They had parked my car, cornering it in and pull farther up into another spot to purposely make it difficult to get to the battery. Thankfully, I have long cables and they just barely stretched.After going to get a second opinion, it turns out that the starter was the issue and there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the alternator OR the AC pump.These people are CROOKS. They wanted to charge me $2300 for repairs that were not even broken. NEVER AGAIN will I come here. TELL YOUR FRIENDS.
We have lived all over the country.... seen lots of good and lots of bad from auto repair / maintenance business. Gaynors is the best.... and second place is not particularly close.Not the cheapest, probably... but solid and honest value is what you are looking for. Cheap is no bargain in the long term.I’m very impressed...
Dropped off my vehicle for a thorough AC veal and repair. Would easily use them again next time service is needed.
Very honest shop. I have brought in multiple vehicles, from my Mini Cooper to my Dodge 3500 dually, always excellent work, fair price, and HONEST. Highly recommend.
Not pleased with my experience at Gaynors Automotive Salmon Creek. I dropped my car off on a Tuesday evening for a repair. They said they would take a look at it on Thursday and get back to me on cost for repair. The following Monday rolls around, and STILL no call. Had to go up in person and ask if they had taken a look at my car yet. They said they had, gave me cost for repair and said it would be done later that day. 5:30pm they had closed and I hadn’t received a call. Had to reach out to them, yet again, and ask if my car was ready for pick up. They said they hadn’t gotten the chance, and planned to have it ready for me that Friday. Friday I receive a call and was told that the issue had been “fixed” and my car was finally ready for pick up. I say that in parentheses because the issue had not been fixed. After paying for repair, as I was driving home, my car gave out. Before my car gave out, it was clear the issue hadn’t been fixed, as I could hear and feel it still wasn’t running well. Aside from all that, they charge too much for their repairs. My entire paycheck down the drain. Again, not pleased.
I had a good experience, i didnt have an appt but called early morning and they gave me the option of dropping off my vehicle and they would call me when it was done. It worked out great considering I was a “walk in.” I got a shuttle to my work which was much needed and got info on how my vehicle is doing and future needs. I use them especially since Im a Costco member and they also offer discount on certain services.
