Caroline Thompson may claim to be young and inexperience but she is the worst realtor and clearly whomever was supervising her wasnt any better. I was the seller and she was the realtor for the buyer. She never communicated with my realtor, getting information was like pulling teeth. She made an offer with the closing date the last day of the month and Friday before a long holiday weekend!!! Then rather than having her clients sign before Friday to assure the sale went off without a hitch, she waited until Friday morning to have her clients sign all but insuring that it would record too late for funds to be transferred to the seller. If you see her name or Engel & Volkers Tucson...RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!!!

I am not a customer of this brokerage, but one of their employees Meg Fuentes just left my home that was for sale. She called myself and my agent to confirm a noon showing for today. I called her back within minutes of her call and left her a voicemail message stating that we had went under contract the previous night. My realtor also left a voicemail message and sent her a text minutes after she reached out to him. She showed up at our home after noon and I had just gotten out of the shower. Lucky I was fully clothed. This is extremely unprofessional. I’m not sure how you are running your business, but I would recommend some extra training for your agents on checking messages and voicemails several times a day. Meg, when a homeowner tells you that they have left you messages that their home is under contract, repeating over and over again that you made an appointment doesn’t help the situation.

After unsuccessfully attempting to sell my house by owner, I decided on the Curt Stinson team to represent me in a short sale. Within days of listing the house an offer was received and accepted. Then began the painfully long process of working with my lending bank to get the short sale approved. Throughout the entire process Karen Nelson, Realty Executives short sale manager, was there to help and quickly responded to any questions I had. When the bank finally approved a sales price higher than the original asking price the Curt Stinson team was able to promptly negotiated with the buyer to get the full price needed to qualify for the short sale. What could have been a stressful time was made so easier because of the professionalism, guidance, availability of the Stinson team. A very special thanks to Crystal Quinn who helped me find a house within 17 days, and to the unseen members of the team who negotiated both the sale of my previous house and purchase of the new one.

First, it is important to note that I used the Stinson team to short sale my house and I believe that the level of attention that goes into a short sale would be different than a normal sale. Secondly, we heard an advertisement from the Stinson Team that a short sale would cost us nothing. That was true from a Stinson Team perspective but not the banks. We DID have to come out of pocket, with the bank, to finally settle the loan. Initially the bank wanted a promissory note but the negotiator was able to help us settle for less. She was WONDERFUL. I recommend that the Stinson Team lets sellers know that there is a possibility that the seller may have further financial obligations to the bank if executing a short sale.With regards to customer service, I was somewhat disappointed. A neighbor called to let me know that the sign had blown away and was down for over a week. Not a problem for me to fix it, it would have been nice if the realtor had noticed or checked on the property. Shortly after that, I received a call from the realtor that the battery died in the lock box and the key could not be retrieved. I was away on military duty and was unable to get another key in a timely manner. That held up a week of showings. Lastly, after a second offer was placed on the house, there was some advice that I was given about renting the property (while in a short sale status) that I felt was questionable. I contacted a real estate lawyer, at the advice of another Stinson Team Member. Overall, the sale took 9 months and the house was under contract twice. The bank did not accept the first offer. I completely understand that short sales take a long while, many longer than 9 months. I would have felt more comfortable if the realtor handling the property would have given me a call, maybe once a month, just to check in and let me know the sale was progressing. There was very minimal contact between me and the realtor. Ultimately, I was extremely pleased with the short sale negotiator. She was very responsive and kept me up to date, even if it was just a note letting me know that the bank was still considering the offer. No doubt the Stinson Team handles many short sales. For a lot people who bought at the height of the market and need to sell homes for $50,000-$100,000 less than their purchase price, it is a very stressful process. I expected a little more contact from the Stinson Team (even though there is a lot of waiting for bank approval), but they ultimately sold my home for much less out of my pocket than it would have been otherwise in a normal sale.
