We currently live here. The property is beautiful and its a quiet area for the most part. The office staff excluding Sally are very reasonable and accommodating. They try to satisfy our needs the best they can. However they are not necessarily responsible for the condition of the apartments. Maintenance is responsible. As you can see from the pictures I have posted these are some of the skill sets maintenance possesses. They use cheap materials to fill holes or cover up dents. For instance our stove top was completely white when we moved in, but after cleaning several times the paint that covered the missing enamel has vanished clearly showing the real condition of the appliances. The paint on the walls is a light paint and because of it, maintenance most likely thought nobody is going to see their painting skills or the lack of it which we can clearly see the upper borders of the walls that were not painted over. Also, the bathroom wall, where the shower head is, has not been smoothed out or sanded down and made back into a textured wall. Its a different texture just not the original. The blinds only get replaced piece by piece so you can see the difference in color when the light hits those blinds. Some are white, and some are yellow. I also took a picture of the work orders I have put in so far and that was only half the list since we moved in in April 2021. That being said there are a lot of maintenance issues. The costs that were talked about in other peoples reviews are true, There are hidden costs, and quite honestly for a standard apartment too high and the apartments are definitely not luxurious or a retreat. We were supposed to have a garbage disposal but we were told it was removed because it was broke, but others do have a garbage disposal. Again lack of maintenance skills to put a new one in or the Owners of the apartment are too cheap to put a new one in. Also one thing after the other seems to be breaking every month and we need to call maintenance again. Anyway, I could show you more pictures but those are just a few highlights. Paint your own picture. Read the reviews, take a tour of the apartments and really look at everything from door handles to carpets etc.

They respond quickly, too!The apartment complex is well maintained, clean, and quiet. Its also close to shops and restaurants.Plus, the residents here are a great mix of people.

The Retreat at Speedway is 10 out of 10! After living here for over two years, I can honestly say it’s the best of the best. Maintenance is attentive and on the rare chance that there is a need for a work order, it is taken care of in record time by our incredible guys! The Community Director, Elizabeth is fabulous and such a great addition to the property. Ariel, Olga and Marcus in the office are phenomenal and so good at what they do. Everyone is so helpful and answers questions/concerns immediately. Our move-in was easy and stress-free and by far the best experience we’ve had at a new property. If you’re looking for a place to call HOME, this is it.

Since I moved in during the pandemic and we are still in it not all things are like I was told. I’ve been here going on 8 months but I’m glad pool opened and exercise room. I really like it here, it’s quite, maintenance is taken care of day put in or next. The only thing I would like to see is the plants better taken care of, not just chopped down prune correctly and remove dead and replace with more desert friendly plants. That is my only concern as when you’re out looking at apartments the grounds all around the complex is taken into consideration. It would be nice if this was a 55+ apartment community as I feel you’d see the occupants taking better care of things.

I was poorly informed on the moving out of the apartment. All I got was a quick orientation of where to park, where the apartment was located, and then a packet inside the apartment.I ended up being gouged on payment at the end due to not being told I needed to notify them I was moving out of the corporate lease (I didn’t move out early). In my experience I’ve never had to notify management of me moving out, they always contacted me first prior to the 30 days. This may not be the case for others. I was also charged for electric after being told utilities were included in the corporate lease. The apartment was decent and clean, staff was nice and the area was relatively quiet.

This is a great place to call home. The entire staff especially Liz & Olga always greeted me with a smile and were very helpful to my needs, and were quick to attend to any problems that arose . The grounds and facilities are Always kept clean every day by friendly courteous workers. The workout rooms are open now, and are rarely crowded and the pool area is lovely and they decorate it on holidays. I love the convenience of this Eastside location and the proximity to nearby shopping. I live alone here and could not feel more safe....a beautiful neighborhood with parks and nearby trails.

They also follow CDC guidelines an everyone their practices social distancing and covid-19 safety procedures. They are very friendly and I definitely recommend checking them out. 👍

So sad, thought when I left this place I would have nothing but good things to say but not since the new community director took over. Be aware one small smug on the walls will result in 86$ charge for them having to repaint even if you wipe it down! They just don’t want to have to give back your deposit, they charge for luxury living but give you appliances from the 60’s. Nothing luxurious about this place. After this I wouldn’t move back in be aware!

I have been living here at The Retreat at Speedway for a few years and I love it here!!! The ladies at the apartment office are awesome and they give me such good care on meeting my needs. The maintenance crew always comes promptly on time to attend to any service that needs attention. I look forward in the fantastic monthly events, like the Luau Party 2019, we had here, which allows the community of neighbors to get to know each other. The apartment complex is very well kept and it is a pleasant beautiful environment to live. I am especially enjoying my mountain view and sitting out on my balcony! The pool and exercise room is always well kept. I hope to make more use of it in the future. I definitely call The Retreat at Speedway my home! This apartment complex and staff is absolutely amazing!! Words can’t describe how much they’ve helped me.This was my first apartment, I didn’t know much about how anything worked when I first started looking around.Ariel Mendoza along with the rest of the amazing staff helped me feel right at home. The process to get started was very easy, they were very flexible when it came to accommodating me and always made sure I was taken care of. :)In addition to that, if I ever had anything wrong with my apartment; which I should add was very rare. They were able to fix it right away! Supreme customer service and top notch apartment events were always something I could count on. Literally went to Phoenix and they were head and shoulders above their competition!! It wasn’t even close.Weidner Homes provided a very family friendly environment, with tons of things to keep you entertained! The location is perfect, you never have to worry about hearing traffic outside, the rooms are very spacious and could easily be used as a home away from home. Luxury apartments indeed!!If anyone wants advice or needs me to answer any questions I am more than willing to help out. I can personally testify to the spectacular job they’ve done and continue to do on a day to day basis. :)

The staff are super nice and helpful. They don’t hesitate to stop what they’re doing when you step into the office to answer any questions you have. I loved the fact that it was so peaceful around the entire complex. Very clean in terms of the grounds keeping and dumpster areas. I have witnessed first hand where tenants can be messy with their trash and this was never an issue here. I am going to miss the folks at The Retreat. It’s hard to find good management. I only left because I am relocating to a new city. I highly recommend them.

Ive lived here twice now. My sister and I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment here for 3 years and then I moved into a 1 bedroom apartment by myself for over 2 years. Ive had an absolutely lovely experience both times! Not only are the apartments beautiful, spacious and updated- the community itself is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained with plenty of walking paths and greenery. Parking has never been an issue for me since I live in the back. The gates add an additional sense of safety although the neighborhood is quite nice. You are walking distance from an awesome running/walking path, Udall Park, a movie theater and even some bars and restaurants.Ive had a wonderful experience with their customer service as well. Every time I submit a work order, its taken care of within a day or two. In fact, the first day I moved in to my 1 bedroom, they brought me a brand new washer because mine was very loud. The women at the front office are extremely nice and take care of their residents. Its easy to pick up packages and ask them questions. You wont find a nicer, safer, better located apartment home in Tucson for this price.

My partner and I rented an apartment at the Retreat sight unseen (big mistake) due to our relocation circumstances. We knew it would be a temporary spot for us while we looked to buy a house. First of all, none of the reviews mentioned that this complex butts up against the actual garbage dump/Tanks Landfill. We were towards the back of the property, closest to the landfill, which smelled terrible on rainy days. Second of all, calling the Retreat luxury apartments is a stretch by any means. As other reviewers pointed out the appliances were cheap and in poor condition, as were the cabinets and bathrooms/tubs. The washer and dryer had to be replaced during the short two month period we lived there because they were both broken when we arrived. When we moved in, the carpet cleaning smell was overpowering, but as it lessened we realized it was covering up a STRONG pet urine smell, which maintenance came in to spray for. The smell did not go away and upon move out, even though I told them the carpet needed to be replaced, they charged us for carpet cleaning. They also charged us $75 for paint touch ups, when we literally werent even there long enough to unpack and there were no marks on the walls from us or our small dog/cat. We left the apartment spotless and still had them take $200+ out of our deposit. The employees were friendly up until we moved out and then they seemed dismissive of our concerns. We were fortunate to have quiet neighbors, but that was the only plus. I dont recommend this complex whatsoever.

After reading many of the reviews on Google Im seriously questioning if they actually lived in the same place that I have/do. People complaining about maintenance issues, customer service issues, quality of interior/appliances prior to moving in, and other random issues. If there are quality issues before you move in and choose to not bring them up as you do your own inspection...you can only blame yourself.Any maintenance problem Ive had has been responded and fixed within the same or next day.All communications between myself and the front desk ladies has been nothing but pleasent, so no idea where the animosity comes from.Paid covered parking is normal at almost every apartment complex Ive ever been to. And yet people are complaining about it, when its 10 or 15$ a month. The apartment complex has full day coverage of security guards, and has fully functioning gates. The price i would agree is a bit above average. But for the location, amenities (pool, gym, security, in-house laundry, etc) I can see as to why. The covered parking is a tad bit small but can still fit vehicles fine. You figure it out eventually. The best thing to do is check them out yourself and ignore the clearly biased 1 stars.

Too many hidden costs. You pay service fees for utility bill each month plus an initiation fee. $10.95 to start and $3.95 each month to maintain. Water fluctuates. Youre charged sewage. Garbage bill is $18.95 a month. My water bill for 1 person ranges from $39 to $57. I pay a base rent of $789 (2/2) plus the fees which works out to an average of $867.90 a month. That is just what I owe apartment for rent with all their fees. If I pay online add $10.Counters are painted. Floors are cheap linoleum. Not really gated. Ends before sidewalk. I would not recommend this dump to anyone. You can go down the street and save $200, you can go next door and save $175 for the same size unit. There is nothing here worth that cost.

Having had a bad experience at my previous apartment I am happy to have found The Retreat! I moved in in January and live in a 1 bedroom unit and I find it to be perfectly spacious! Upon moving in the apartment was clean with very few damages we had to make note of. They also give you the cutest little welcome package with snacks, which were great as we were busy moving in and had no time for lunch. There was even a little gift for our dog, how cute! I havent had any issues with noisy neighbors, however often at night Ill hear people drive by with big booming stereos blasting rap music. Everyone is very nice though and says hi when youre out walking. Walking through it feels more like a neighborhood than an apartment complex. I feel very safe by myself or with my dog, even at night. The pool, gym, and grounds are great and well maintained. The faucet in the kitchen leaked at first, and maintenance was out same day and replaced it! Im in the office fairly often to pick up packages and the ladies are always cheery! Sara is the absolute best, very helpful! If you go in, definitely talk to her! The website is great and makes paying rent super simple. The only real problem is parking, you have to be really strategic to get a good parking spot, but I am sure when they planned this complex they never expected to have such a high occupancy and at this point they probably cant do a whole lot to change it. Overall I think this complex is definitely putting the effort in and it shows! Its in a great location, feels safe, and it totally worth the extra $ over The Peaks or Somerpointe.

I moved into these apartments about 2 weeks ago. One of the main reasons I chose the retreat was for the in home washer and dryer. A few days after i had moved in i attempted to do a load of laundry and the washer doesnt spin and all my clothes just sit in water. I contacted Angela at the front desk and was told that the apartments are inspected before a resident moves in, yet the washer and dryer are not checked. I mentioned to her that one of the reasons I moved here was because they advertise washers and dryers in the units and was under the assumption that they should work. Her response to me was, we advertise washers and dryers in unit online but that doesnt mean they work. To me that seems a bit like false advertisement which she ensures me it is not.Not to mention the paid parking for my unit is about a football fields length away from my unit. The patio light doesnt work. Garbage disposal is rusted and noisy. The stove top is warped. Burn holes in my carpet. Stains and cut marks on my counters. Fridge is scraped and dented all over the side.Looks like a great place until you move in, then you start to see the issues that the management doesnt want to fix.

Ive lived here for more than three years and I am impressed with the professionalism exhibited by both the office staff and the maintenance crew. I was a professional property manager for nearly 20 years and I know what Im talking about. The gates? They are meant to restrict drive-through traffic and unauthorized parking. This is not a fully-gated community; pedestrians can walk by the gate. Dont expect a sealed community. You get a reserved parking space, covered but not enclosed. Reason tells you not to leave valuables in your vehicle. Any time Ive had a maintenance issue it has been dealt with promptly and courteously, including one time a maintenance man responded on a Saturday night, in the pouring rain, to replace a battery in a smoke detector I couldnt reach, so I wouldnt have to listen 60 dB cheeps all night long. The office staff is friendly, efficient, and will go out of their way to help. In reading the other comments, Im annoyed that people are blaming management for issues over which they have no control. Your car was broken into? Call the police and report it to the office. Better yet, treat the parking as public and safeguard your belongings.

. I lived at the Mistreat for 5 years. The apartments are awful, from the ceiling to the floor. The paint is cheap, watered down latex that attracts stains and is difficult to clean. The carpet shows old stains shortly after cleaning, and wears out quickly. The closet doors are glass, are not installed or adjusted properly, and they break easily if you dont adjust all 6 doors properly yourself at move in. The gourmet kitchen is just an efficiency kitchen. You may or may not have an ice maker. The appliances are cheap, white, and like the rest of the apartment, difficult to keep clean. The counters are white, painted over, and stain easily. Even the sink attracts stains. While this apartment is a nightmare for the renter to keep clean, it is a cash cow for the Retreat upon move out. Dont expect all of your deposit back. They charged us for touch up paint they couldnt identify, a burned out lightbulb, and a vertical blind slat. Last summer, the Retreat fell into such a state of disrepair that 6 street lights were burned out on the property. This led to a rash of vehicle break-ins on the property, including a Department of Homeland Security vehicle, in which the agents firearms and ammunition were stolen. I had to call TEP myself to get the street lights fixed. A complaint to Weidner properties about the conditions at the Retreat led to retaliation from the leasing staff in the form of police harrassment. Twice the police were sent to our apartment late at night by the Retreat for obscure reasons. We had to file a complaint with TPD to get them to stop. A leak in our tub that we tried to get maintenance to fix for 3 years eventually led to a black mold infestation. An abatement team failed to remove it, and so we had to switch apartments. Our AC went out for 5 days. 24 hour emergency maintenance equates to 5 days until qualified maintenance gets there. At night, the Retreat becomes dangerous. The security guards are inept. Vehicle break-ins are common. Drug addicts and thieves living in nearby Pantano Wash frequent the complex often and cause problems. The current staff is rude, and dishonest. Weidner properties has a horrible reputation for overcharging residents, and was the subject of a class action lawsuit as a result. Unfortunately, Weidner properties makes up about 11% of the Apartments in Tucson. Avoid the Retreat and any property owned by Weidner.

Retreat at Speedway has been wonderful! I moved here from 3,000 miles away without ever seeing the complex in person and I couldnt be happier. I rented a 1-bed/1-bath beginning in June 2015 and have had a great experience. The apartments are quite spacious for 1-beds and very reasonably priced. I had more than enough space for all my furniture and frankly probably should have bought more! Both the living room and bedroom are huge, the kitchen has a nice separate laundry area with additional storage. The bedroom has a large walk-in closet which is perfect. Theres also a huge closet space off the balcony which is great for long-term storage or large items. All the appliances in the kitchen work well, never had any problems with any of them. Also, the water pressure is excellent! I cant emphasize this enough; this is an easy thing to overlook and not think about when youre looking for apartments.Additionally, the management and leasing staff are all very pleasant, easy to work with, and responsive! Ive only had a couple maintenance requests but every time they were dealt with within 48 hours. Any time I had a question, needed to pick up a package, or get help with anything else, the office staff was always there. The grounds are also quite nice, lots of grass (a rarity in the desert!), and a nice pool and hot tub area. The main office area keeps everything centralized including mailboxes, package pick-up, the fitness center, and a clubhouse area with coffee and couches.Lastly, the surrounding area is perfect for so many things. The complex is surrounded by every big box imaginable so youll never need to go far for anything. Theres a Target, Costco, Walmart, Lowes, and many many others less than a mile away. Youre also a short drive to Park Place Mall.Overall, I have to give the Retreat 5 stars, I really cant think of anything Id complain about. Id absolutely recommend this location to anyone moving to Tucson!

They obviously dont care, I honestly can keep on going with all these other issues i have in my apartment. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone specially not students. Price you pay is outrages for the service and apts you get.. moving out as soon as our least is over, these apts are not luxury whats so ever.

Not good not good at all. My car was hit twice in the parking lot, the gate stays open for days. I had a roof over my head for $1000 a month. But because of them it made me buy a new house. Thanks thats what the 2 stars are for.
