This is a cheap apartment community in a dicey part of Tucson. My elderly, fixed-income mother lived there from for the last 7 years. During that time she has:- Been assaulted by a neighbor. There were ongoing issues that management had the opportunity to mitigate, but chose a hands off approach that resulted in my 68 year old, stroke-victim mother, getting beat up in front of her apartment by someone who was 31.- Had her car broken into twice.- Had plants and patio furniture stolen off of her patio.- Was in a bad car accident in front of the entrance to the community due to someone elses reckless driving. Each year, management would pressure her to renew her lease until this year, when they gave her 7 weeks notice that they would not renew her lease, forcing us to find her a new home during a pandemic.Management is very unprofessional, unhelpful, and at times, rude. Maintenance requests often went unresolved for days, including one for a leaking toilet. Shared laundry rooms often have broken equipment. While having to move her during a pandemic wasnt ideal and the manner in which they went about it all was very cold, the bright side is that shes in a nicer place now. We will not miss the problems we constantly had to hear about regarding Alegria Apartment Homes.

I recently moved from out of the state to Algeria and Marcus was so kind. He made my transition from being interested to finding a perfect unit for my children and I. This was the smoothest, fastest, kindest, pleasant experience I had with a leasing manager. Im excited to be apart of this community.

Terrible place to live. Office staff acts nice but are lazy and they lie. Maintenance takes forever to resolve if it is not an emergency. The biggest thing for me are the lies. They just tell you what you want to hear.Update/response: I did call the main office and I am still waiting to hear back from the area manager. Words, words, words. Never any actions.

My husband and I tried to move into this apartment complex today. We qualified for the apartment in every single way. They handed us a waiver of rights to in an attempt to gain security deposits for our legally registered service animals. They are taking advantage of uneducated disabled persons. Never under any circumstances should you give them your money!Follow up: there was absolutely no miscommunication. I obtained a law degree in 2013 and has been working as a paralegal ever since. The woman I spoke to in the office had absolutely no legal training and could not even identify the document she was handing me. Yes if you have a doctor nearby that can fill out the paperwork you are fine, but those of us who have had to go to doctor out of state have no way of securing our Ada rights two are service animals. This is blatant discrimination!

Haven’t been living here too long but no complaints so far. I have a single bedroom with mostly vinyl flooring. The value of the apartment is great, in regards to space and rent. Maintenance is performed quickly and easily requested with the app. Pet friendly and very clean in regards to pests. Parking can get a little tight, especially for guests, but it’s not that bad at all. Overall I’m loving it, no complaints.

I lived here for two years. The rent is cheap and the ladies at the front desk were always helpful. However, there were several problems with the apartment I lived in. There was always a musty smell that sometimes mixed with marijuana smell from another apartment. The walls are really thin that you can actually sometimes hear conversations from other apartments. Then there was the cockroach infestation we couldn’t get rid of. We called the pest control guy every other month, washed and dried every dish we used, cleaned counter tops and mopped frequently but we just couldn’t get rid of them. The pest control guy said he couldn’t pin point where they were coming from. In addition, Like other reviewers have mentioned, the cabinets my apartment came with weren’t in the best conditions. They don’t have a washer or dryer in the unit so you have to go to the community laundry mat. In order to be able to do laundry you have to purchase a card and then add money to it. I guess, it’s an okay place to stay if you are tight on money. Anyway this is just my personal experience, I’ve also seen good reviews. I would just be extra cautious, maybe ask if you can see the apartment you will be living in (if possible). Good luck!

My son and his family moved there ( his girlfriend and infant daughter) hoping to enjoy the pool and hot tub which has been closed most of their stay. He has told me about the harassment he has had to endure there but last night I witnessed it for myself. We were enjoying ( or trying) an evening together and pizza the lady under him kept beating on the floor for no reason as we were all seated watching tv and chatting at 7pm and before we knew it the police were knocking at the door. She had filed a false report of fighting. The police of course seen there was absolutely nothing bad going on and left saying there would be no report as there was no crime. They report this lady beats in ceiling when baby crawls across floor. Due to other reports this lady has made and my son trying to explain... he is banned from contacting office !!! He lives in fear that although his rent is paid he is going to get eviction notice due to false reports... not sure if this lady is friend or family to get by with all she does but Newsflash management: babies crawl and people walk upstairs!!! I would not recommend living here .. not that great of a place or location for all the drama... inmates have more freedom to move about more

I dont think Alegria actually has any office staff!!! Last year I sent them an e-mail explaining my situation (wanting to rent long distance) and received a generic cut-and-paste reply regarding the property... When I emailed back explaining that I appreciated the information but that wasnt what I asked, no one replied. I later called, left a message, and no one has replied.Im moving to Tucson here soon, and my boyfriend and I were initially very interested in this apartment, however after calling literally 15 times and only getting someone picking up ONCE (who later said theyd call back and never did) weve given up and decided to rent elsewhere. What a joke!

I have been at Alegria for almost 3 years now, not because I love the place but because is within my budget. I have so many bad things to say of this place that it would take me all night to write it. To start with it sounds like people live upstairs and I live on the second floor, you can hear everything from the apartments around yours. The smoking should rule should change its stupid that marijuana is illegal with prescription but cigarettes aloud when they are worse, management cant never do anything when their is problems besides saying to call the police, security is never to be seen and when they are here is for less than few hours. The pool is always broken and the spa has to much chlorine and its all moldy. The rent goes up so much that is ridiculous and the fixing is horrible because they come weeks later and do a crapy job. I receive stupid notices for unreasonable things like example put out my inside chair out to clean my rugs and got a notice, put out two trash bads for a few minutes to go get dressed to take them to the trash and got a notice, have a patio set outside and got a notice because they thought they werent like omg, the laundry by the office is built so wrong that you cant open the bottom dryers and washers because they bump into each other, my patio floor makes a huge noise when you step on it and feels like it will break soon and end up downstairs, the ac makes so much noise and doesnt blow air to our small bedroom but blows cigarette smell from other apartments. All the doors are super old and just get painted that they dont work properly, the kitchen and bathroom counters are in so bad shape when I moved in and never been fixed, the medicine cabinets are different colors my dishwasher doesnt work properly and never got fixed, I am just tired to ask for repairs over and over. People always sitting on the stairs at all times etc, cant put anything on the walls because they are so cheap that nothing holds on them, my shower makes a loud noise everytime you open it, the ceiling of my bathroom always build black moldy spots and i was told that they could do inspection for mold but that if nothing found i would have to pay them the cost of the inspection, my next door apartment had or has mold but of course they cover everything here. I am doing everything possible to get out of here as soon as possible.

Sooooo many issues with these apartments, from their kennel like design, to the poor insulation, very old and loud AC units, sketchy location, the super moody property manager, and the other unsavory tenants in the complex. But what is most baffling is this companys business model. At each lease renewal, we were charged at least an 8% rent increase. Our most recent lease renewal notice raised rent by 11%. These increases came with absolutely no improvements to the complex or our unit. After being reliable long time tenants, this company wants us to pay more than what new tenants are paying for the same size unit. This is not sustainable for any renter. Please dont be persuaded by the low move in costs, youll end up paying more in the long run. There are many reasons to move out of here, but this was the straw that broke the camels back.

Run away, run far far away.First and foremost, the worst issue here were the cockroaches. We were infested, not one, not two. Hundreds. Tiny little brown cockroaches everywhere. We had the place sprayed twice, we set traps, we set down gel. It took us over 6 months to not see them every day. I am horribly terrified of these things, so it made my life a living hell for an entire year. Every dish I used I had to rewash before using it, if I didnt. On a few occasions we would get sick after eating. We cleaned like psychopaths, We cleaned the counters three times a day, left a light on at night. we made sure nothing was touching that god forsaken floor. The majority of the time we just ate out because we didnt want to be bothered with cleaning every inch of the place. We didnt keep any food outside of the fridge. Yet, those things still persisted to go through the light sockets, cracks in the walls from our neighbors, and into our place. Please, i know this place is cheap, but for your own safety, health. Stay far away from this place. If that isnt enough, please let me continue. Our upstairs neighbor was this chain-smoking diva who liked to call the apartment office and complain about us making too much noise at any given moment. For the most part, we had headphones on. The loudest we ever were was from showering, cooking, and me laughing. Her son would use him loud AMP every day and we never said a word about it, and he also did a few other things Id rather not say publicly. We had a rule, we would have our music, or movies that we watched after 10 pm only be as loud as the AC. The only thing I can think of that really was loud was my laugh, I tired to keep my voice down as much as possible for her sake. Sometimes you slip up in a comedy, and Im sorry for that. I also worked night shifts at the time, so we would have to shower at 11 am sometimes. Before the shower kicks on it makes this abrupt THUMP noise before the water starts streaming, We cant really do anything about this.More of the apartments fault than anything else. At one point my SO had to take a shower at 12 AM, it was apparently so loud that the woman came storming down and pounded her hand on our door, screaming at us. After that night she went in a childish rampage and every morning at 7 Am when i was about to go to sleep, she would stomp her feet, slam doors, and scream at whoever happened to be in her company. We never complained, not once about her. Im using her as an example for the type of community we had to endure. There are many, many other examples from others, but she takes the cake.At one point my boyfriend decided to take out the garbage to throw it in the large communal bin, then was yelled at by a homeless man who decided to sleep inside of it. So, he walked towards a smaller bin to throw away the garbage and was scolded by one of the girls that worked there. He explained the situation, her answer? Well, maybe you should take the garbage out during the daytime.I was terrified in this place, from the cockroaches, the angry woman upstairs, the homeless man sleeping in the garbage bin, the gunshots I heard every night, all of the ferrel cats that roamed the complex, and the mold that I was sure wasnt helping my health. I dont care how cheap this place is, I wouldnt sleep one more night in this apartment if you PAID ME. Stay away. Stay. Far. Away.

Roaches galore! Lived there for 3 years and their idea of fixing a leaking window was to seal the window with caulking when the water runs down the walls (water stained window ledges and sides.) Forced them to move the dishwasher once so we could self treat the roaches and there were two dead mice !!! All we got was a we were looking for those after 2 years!!! Management is never there. Always leaving early or they take lunches at the same time. Cars are constantly being broken into. Neighbors deal drugs. Only go their if desperate.
