The best restoration company ! Highly recommended.
Signal was hired to restore my property after a fire that resulted in significant smoke damage inside my 1,600 sq. ft. ranch. Total loss was around $100k paid from the insurance company and new drywall, flooring, and kitchen cabinets were approved to have replaced along with a new furnace and electrical panel and return air ducting and other mechanicals. Quick to come in and scoop up business after fire, but after that good luck! Multiple weeks pass by with no to minimal work done to house. Initially the project manager said the house restoration would take 5 weeks after about 2-3 weeks into the job, and it ended up taking 8 months to get moved back into the house. Unorganized direction of demolition of drywall and flooring (demolition guys were not told what exactly to do). Too many promised deadlines missed of when a construction stage would be completed and I could move back in, wrong color cabinets ordered, forgotten small mechanical details that I would have to point out myself, contractor damaged my car parked in garage and Signal never responded when I confronted them, wrong window blinds ordered twice, too many headaches! If you hire this company, you need to pay attention to the work progress and call and bug them nearly every day to get things moving and make sure nothing gets missed. However, Signal mostly took care of all of the problems relatively in a professional manner and mostly to my satisfaction, as would be expected of a large company. They also were quick to clean house and package up personal contents. Im not sure if other restoration companies would have done better or worse, but this was definitely something that I wouldnt want to go through again.
In general I dont write many reviews but I have to this time. My familys experience with this company was just plain terrible. We made our initial contact with them on 4/10/17 and they came out to inspect and quote the work/withing a couple of days, at that point I was satisfied with their promptness and the people that we dealt with. After Chip was there we were told they would contact us again within a few days to layout a plan and schedule the work. We received the quote on 5/2 from Chip and we responded that we would like to proceed, again we were told we would hear from them in a couple of days in order to plan when the work would be done. Ten days pass before my wife finally called and asked them what was going on and we were told that they had been trying to contact us, they were calling my wifes ex-husband even after we had already corrected that previously. My wife called again on 5/31 asking what the status was and she was told it is in motion. At some point after 6/6 we were told that Chip had quite and John was only given a piece of paper with our names and phone number and wood floor written on it. We finally got the job scheduled for 7/7. We were told that it would take 3 days to pack and move our stuff, 6 days for floor including drying time, and 3 days to move stuff back in and unpack. We moved out 7/6, they began pack up on 7/7 I stopped at home that day after work and everything was packed and moved out already, why are we moved out for three days when it took them less than a day to complete that task? No more work was completed until Monday (not only are we forced out of our home for these extra 2 days but our insurance company is paying for an extra 2 or 3 nights for us to stay in a hotel). We then told them that we would unpack our own stuff when the work was complete that way we could move back in sooner. Upon stopping by the house after the floor was finished but prior to moving our stuff back in we stopped by and were disappointed with the results of the refinishing, we were then told that with the satin finish it would be duller than a semi-gloss (an option we were never given or explained) and that the insurance company would only pay for two coats (again, never explained to us up front). We talked directly with the flooring contractor and he completely agreed that another coat would be necessary and offered to do it at cost in case the insurance company wouldnt cover it (he was very nice and helpful). We finally got to move back home on 7/18 due to the extra coat being necessary and the lost time due to the lack of communication. After all is said and done I can honestly say that if anyone asked for a recommendation for a company to handle an insurance claim for them I would never recommend Signal, the experience was a nightmare and more stressful than it ever should have been.
Our experience with Signal Restoration was great! The company finished on time and was very professional.
While this company advertises providing services in all 50 states they refused to come Detroit to provide a quote or for services. They said they do not work in the city. The person answering the phone was also very rude.
Great company, very professional, timely and effective.
