This is a rather cool looking YMCA. What I remember the most about this place is using the racket ball courts to play volley ball. Playing indoor volley ball is quite a fun experience. This was also a really cool environment and I had some cool conversations with people here.

Great place for family youth sports & daycare. No senior discounts unless Medicare Advantage/Silver Sneakers. Frequent deferred maintenance issues including overgrown grass(12/19) & discolored ceiling tiles from numerous roof leaks. Rich & Melanie & Heidi are great.

Ive been going to the Tempe YMCA for over 20 years. If I miss time they always make me feel welcome. Rich at the front desk remembers my name and had a big smile for everyone that enters.

Enjoy the cardio equipment and free weights, but my sons have next to zero privacy when showering after we finish using the facility. How about some shower curtains please, what a novel idea.

I love this place! Everyone is very kind and there is something here for the whole family. The gym is not intimidating. There is mens pickup basketball on Sundays, and various family events throughout the month. Every month they host parents night out when parents can drop off their children for four hours in the evening. It is free for members. Very much worth the membership.

I use to go to the y along time ago, I put my son in soccer first game is sat.If I known they didnt have people to teach my son soccer I would of not put my son in soccer. They asked parents to volunteer to coach when none know how to play soccer and they are gonna teach. SMH

I regularly use the pool and have also used the weight room/machines. The staff is very nice and life guards are attentive to the pool. It is an older facility but is maintained. Locker rooms are spacious, lots of parking, easy to get to, reasonable cost, next to golf course and trails for access to other activities as well. No complaints.

We are having a terrible experience at the YMCA summer camp this year. (2016) The counselors are rude and condescending to the kids. The YMCA is the Young Mens Christian Association. The goal would be to teach these kids to be kind and to be nice to others through example. They kids should come out of there with GOOD Memories not hating everyday there. The YMCA should be MUCH better than Boys & Girls Club and Much better than the City of Tempe school summer programs. It certainly cost a bunch more. You need to hire people who actually like children and train them to teach values through fun games and team work. I did not expect this to be like the ‘hood’ YMCA. If you have BAD kids there, then set your rules, hold firm to them and KICK THEM OUT !! Maybe their parents will get a clue that their kids need to work on their behavior. From:Sad in Tempe

When you walk through the doors you are greeted by a welcoming staff. The facility is pretty old but well kept and the people are more then willing to help you out. I like this place because it is big but without the typical gym atmosphere

Nice friendly staff. Building needs update. Examples, the GFI breaker not working in men’s locker room. One shower head missing. Lockers are made of oak wood. It looked like from the 1970’s!

Great layout, clean lockers, great staff. The only complaint my family had was no curtains in the men’s locker room showers. The one stall that had a curtain had a huge hole cut right in the center.

I was ashamed tonight listening to Rick talking with a guest in the lobby. About how all police officers are power hungry and corrupt, over and over again. As a non profit owner myself personally, we stand behind our first responders %110. Very ashamed a YMCA employee would vocally atrocities our first responders. Many who I know myself as very honorable and good people, with kids and families.Definitely keeping my distance from this location. The day after a person contacted me informing the director would reach out, however never heard anything. sleazY

The staff is great and the weight facilities are good, but I have been super frustrated and disappointed with the availability of the pool. I am a triathlete and initially signed up with the ymca because of the year round pool. I depend on having a pool year round for my training. Since 2013 I have used the pool at every point in the year, and was upset to hear that it would be closed this winter. I have tried to work around this, going to 2 locations far out of my way but it was difficult with my busy schedule. I was told it would be opening up at the end of April. I have a big race approaching and stuck with my membership knowing that I would have my local pool open again in enough time to train. I called to find out today that they decided to wait another month to open. I am paying good money for an amenity that I cannot use. I will be cancelling my membership this week.

On the low end of Valley Y facilities. Over-crowded, over-priced, under-maintained. Weekend and holiday hours are poor (closes at 2:00 PM on Sunday). Does not compare well with for-profit competitors that must operate efficiently or perish.

Make sure to cancel 30 days before or pay 2X.Nothing special about the Y.Decent enough staff and facilities. We moved out of state and forgot to cancel the membership and was surprised to find out they will bill you one more time before it’s officially canceled. Very wrong. They use the excuse that’s it’s in the contract. Not very friendly and maybe not even in the contract.

We joined a week ago. My husband is military and was put on orders for the summer so we figure we would join the Y while he was gone. The kids could go to the play area and mom would get a workout in. The kids begged me to go to the pool this weekend. Despite feeling a little off I took them. When I dropped them off in the kids area the check in computer wasnt working. One of the staff stood and stared at me. The other one told me to sign them in manually. They didnt greet my kids or talk to them. I had to go up to the employee who was staring and say, my kids names are..... I got to the locker room and started feeling gross. I figured I would lay down at the pool for a few minutes until it passed. I progressively felt worse, until I knew I was going to be sick. I went to the womens locker room, I didnt make it to the toilet, and got sick on the floor. In comes a booming voice, Im coming in. Donny from maintainence. This man stands over me by the toilets and says, do I need to call 911, I say no. His response, youve got to do something and clean up whatever that is on the floor. Then he leaves. Rudeness. He treated me like pond scumb.I went in the hospital Saturday night and have been in here ever since with an infection that caused me to feel so awful. When I get out of here I will contact every person I need to in the organization for some logic on that scenario. How about getting some service skills? Secondly, dont send the maintainence man in the womens locker room to be the voice of compassion for the YMCA. Perhaps his time would be better served fixing the clocks on the wall that are all different by forty minutes. Totally rude, inept, poor leadership. Seriously, who sends the maintenance man in the womens locker room for a person getting sick? Thats like needing a hair dresser and sending over someone with a lawn mower.

Fairly clean, plenty of weights and not always busy. The pool is a disappointment. Members are treated as second class citizens when it comes to the pool. They have limited pool hours and dont always open on time. They dont post life guard training schedules and kick paying customers out with no warning.
