Please READ!Actually ZERO stars. Someone called me the night before my pickup and told me my reservation is cancelled. I had the Reservation reserved and booked for over 1 month. Pretty unbelievable and utterly terrible business practice and service. They overbooked cars and honored other, more higher rates than mine? Wow. Shame on you Avis. I was a preferred frequent customer. BUT NOT ANYMORE. I have nothing even average to day about Avis. The staff at this specific location as well as customer service made me feel awful and cost me more money canceling hotels, changing my entire trip, and spending money on rideshare. I eventually called Hertz.
Yikes, I saw some of the other reviews that were negative but honestly I didnt have a problem when I purchased a vehicle from this establishment. I am happy with my SUV. Austin was really nice, so was Jose. They both did their best to get me a deal that I was comfortable with. Kudos.
I rent through Avis for work. They gave me a bigger sized vehicle for the same price. Only negative is their parking, their isn’t a lot of parking for customers. Great/friendly staff, covid precautions, the car i rented was specularly cleaned. Very impressed.

Not all Avis are the same. The car was good as usual but the staff at this location seemed like it was more of a bother to rent the vehicle. I will make sure future rentals are only at the airport locations as they seem to actually care about checking out the vehicle and making sure its ready. The staff didnt fully clean the car from the previous renters (trash under the seats) the gas tank was half full although they marked it as full and one of the rear tires was dangerously low on pressure (18 psi). Once I cleared all that up my car was perfect.
I will NEVER purchase another car nor recommend this place to anyone. First off, their sales rep Brandon cannot even communicate properly (he can’t even formulate proper sentences via text messaging) nor relay information. The car I purchased had dents and scratches that the company stated they would have repaired for free (a document was signed regarding this). NO time limit was mentioned regarding this issue but I find out almost 3 months later that apparently they no longer will deal with it since it’s been more than 30 days. And mind you their repair guy was “on holiday” for most of these months. I asked multiple times when he would next be available as I live in Orlando and the only answer I got was he’s still not avaliable. The only time I got notified that he was available was on the day of on a weekday. I work full-time in Orlando... so clearly that was not possible (I even mentioned this the day I purchased the vehicle). I have asked to speak to the manager several times, but apparently he too is “out of the office”. Seems to me he can’t even man up and deal with his customers. When the manager can’t even do his job, no wonder the employees are just as bad. Don’t waste your time with such a poorly run establishment as they don’t deserve your money or business.
I had to cancel my flight home so I was very thankful for Avis. The selection of vehicles to chose from are great. Their vehicles are newer models, very clean, and well maintained.
The best dealership I have been too! If I could give them 10 stars I would!! Austin was very patient, kind and helpful. I told him my budget, my credit and he gave me options. Avis was able to work with me. And I walked out the door with a great car for me and my daughter. They arent like leeches. To the owner Jose give Austin a raise! Thank you both!!

Got a Rental Car I forgot the mans Name Who Assisted me but he was very helpful and kind and made my experience good enough where I will definitely come back. My only downfall was my rental car wasn’t clean the carpet was clean and interior but inside cup holders in the middle counsel was sticky residue I had to go in and clean the whole car myself. Due to caronavirus I think it’s very important that the cars should be cleaned extensively . When returning the car I explained the issue with a woman I also forgot her name she said the manager would be there the following day Tuesday and I would have to speak with him about a accommodation to my bill but he will do it since the car wasn’t fully clean. . I called 4 days straight different times of the day haven’t been able to speak with anyone regarding my bill . That was the only issue I had. Other than that I loved the car. The man who assisted me I wish I could remember his name but he was very kind

The customer service here is horrible they are so rude! I came to this location a few days before picking up my rental to confirm with an employee that there would be be any additional fees if I’m placing my reservation online. The employee stated no I would just need to place my reservation online and I would be good to go to pick up my rental. The day arrives of when I’m suppose to pick up my rental and I get there and this rude lady who claims to be the manager without even my knowledge just swipes my card for $100 when I asked her what the $100 was for she said it’s for the deposit. If there is a deposit that I have to pay then why when I came in a few days ago and asked if there are any additional fees I was told no but the day that I’m suppose to pick up the vehicle there is all of a sudden an extra fee they want me to pay. The lady at the front desk was rude wasn’t offering any solutions to the problem especially if one of their employees provided the wrong information. If the lady at the front desk was a manager she could have at least apologize for providing me with false information. To say the least I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICES AGAIN!!
I reserved a rental for a Ford Explorer almost 2 months in advance. On the day of Rental pick up. I came into the store with my fiance. It was extremely busy inside with only two reps. Both employees looked stressed out and the older guy, I believe his name is David, was being so rude to his coworker Ruthy. He was talking down to her, and treating her like she wasnt of value. But it doesnt end there. He was being so rude to all the customers walking through that door including us. When it was our turn, I had told him we have a reservation, he then said with an attitude we have no cars available . So I asked him whats the point of making a reservation if you wont have cars available. David then says it doesnt work that way, we give you what we have available . So my fiance says to him, no you will give us the vehicle we reserved, thats not our problem that yall are not prepared. David then says oh so its our fault while he taunted my fiance. My fiance went outside because I seriously thought he was going to hit him, so he went to breathe. While I was inside he then turned his attention to another couple inside that also made reservations for a specific vehicle. The ladies were asking him questions and he kept rudely telling them they had to wait. Ruthy his coworker was so stressed herself with his attitude, I have to applaud her for staying so calm throughout the whole situation. She was very pleasant and helpful and was able to get us a vehicle after an hour of being there. Besides Ruthy, this is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will have to think long and hard if I wish to use Avis again. I never had this problem with Enterprise. I hope that someone does something about this problem.May 2, 20199 days since my return and they want to charge me 21.00 in tolls fees. I NEVER EVEN USED TOLL! What kind of scam do you think your running here? I will never use this company again!

These folks charged me double for my rental and didnt inform me. I was made aware of the charges after I received my cc statement. Their great customer service let me know I was charged for going over the 20 minute grace period. Not to mention they charged me 10 bucks for tolls I didnt use, as I paid cash for the single toll I went through. Again great customer services wishes to inform me that the transponder was most likely on so it picked up the charge and if I didnt have the receipt for the $2.00 toll I wasnt aware they were charging me for therefore I couldnt be refunded my money. Use Enterprise Ive used them many a time with no issues they just happened to be sold out this particular day. They also readily fix any issues that may arise and actually have superb customer service. I WILL NEVER use Avis again. This company is a ripoff. Ive been hours late back to enterprise and have never been charged a cent let alone double charged for few minutes. This is shameful.
Used them twice now to rent Budget Trucks and have yet to have an issue. I booked a 12 footer online, got there and they upgraded to a 16 footer for free just because. Good ppl.
I feel like rental cars company are only looking for people with good credit since when do they run credit check just off of using debit card. Something need to change about that
If I can give a zero I would. It was the worst customer service that I had in their call center. I want to emphasize that at Tampa Airport and the AVIS near Bush Garden, the employees were very helpful. But by phone it was a total disaster. They gave me a car with mechanical problems and when I asked for a change, they were rude and wanted to charge me with more money for the exchange. I was on vacations and they wanted me to park the car and dont use it until I was supposed to returned it, that was the recommendation of the guy at customer service call center. It was a nightmare. NOT RECOMMENDED. Dont waist your money.
I recently rented a car here. I paid for one above an economy car. They let me choose a car and didnt charge me extra for a Kia Soul, which was fantastic since I knew I had to travel to Orlando one of the days and Tropical Storm Colin was on its way. The car was in perfect condition inside and out, well cared for. The staff was pleasant and quick to help me. While the location to pick up was not the best (looks like a mostly empty mall), dont let that hold you back
WILL ONLY RENT TO CREDIT CARD USERS. I tried to rent a mini van and the rude guy bluntly said, “no, credit card only.” I inquired about the sign displayed that said you can use a credit application for debit card users and he denied and said it doesn’t apply to mini vans, only to cars. I then asked to rent a car instead and he still said no, need a credit card.Newsflash, some of us are financially sound and do not choose to waste money paying credit card companies. Some of us have “real money” and don’t “borrow” anything.As for the guy who did not give me any options to rent, I will be calling and filing a complaint with the company or BBB, whatever it takes so no one else has to waste time.
I reserved the rental by phone with Avis, and asked the representative what the debit card requirements were. I get to the location and was told that a 700 credit score was required with Equifax to rent a car.Straight to the point. I ended up going with Enterprise.
Awful experience! picked the car up on a Sunday and it smelled like smoke. I let the gentleman working the counter know that I will be returning the vehicle the same day, but since they did not have a drop off he said to drop it off at the airport. He never mentioned that they would be charging me $25 dollars to do so. I feel so scammed by this place. Not to mention when I tried calling to inquire about the charge no one answers the phone! I had to call customer service, which told me to call the location directly. This is not good customer service.
In and out under 5 minutes with rental
Car was clean and in good condition, service was fast and friendly cant complain about that. The only issue was that I got hit with a insane toll fee. I only had to drive from Tampa to Miami to visit parents and from experience I know I only need to cross two tolls which are located at the alligator alley road, with a price of three dollars a pass and one more for a buck extra. Know this for a fact been driving this same path for years, call Avis and complain about this all they say was this is not are department probably they do this two every person. Next time Ill definitely stay away from this company
This review is not for Avis overall, but for the actual location. Great service and very quick. This is the way all the rental places should be. Straight forward, quick, and no surprises. Just the way it should be.
As a first time user of Avis I have to say this location may have forever ruined the reputation I thought they had. Two days before Christmas I made reservations with the very friendly customer service line. Since my wife would be picking it up I called this location to confirm the process. I was advised she needed to bring her credit card. The day of pick up my wife took a taxi to the Avis as I was practicing in my Sarasota clinic. About 5:45pm I received a call from my wife frantic and upset. She proceeded to explain that Diana and Corrine at the front desk had been rude and would not accept her visa debit card for the reservation citing location policy. I explained how I called and was not advised this was an issue and still not assistance from these staff. When I offered to have a family member arrive in 15min to provide a Credit Card they rudely explained we are closing and cannot wait. I proceeded to demand some type of solution only to hear the staff continue to upset my wife. Shortly after my wife explains they practically pushed her out so they could close and leave. My wife had to make taxi arrangements again to get back home (round trip $40) and did so while crying on the phone as if she did something wrong. This by no means was the experience either of us expected. Any solution or alternative options from your staff could have at least made the situation amicable however they did nothing but make it worse. I have since filed a grievance with corporate who explained none of this should have happened. I also expect you will try to raise the bar of CustomerService as to avoid instances like we endured. Certainly these two are both not upholding the reputation Avis works hard to maintain.
I rented a car from here for a few days and everything went great during the pick up. However, I dropped off on a busy Saturday morning and customer service was awful. There was one person working behind the counter (Gloria) and about 4 customers in the store, myself included. This didnt bother me, I understand that places get busy and I was more than okay patiently waiting. When it was my turn to return, Gloria complained that I didnt have my original paperwork, which no one asked me to bring upon return. She seemed annoyed that she needed to look up my information in the system. Then I asked to make a new reservation and she told me she was too busy and I needed to go online. She seemed bothered to be doing her job. I wont be using Avis again because of Glorias attitude.
While planning my families vacation, I went online and reserved a car through Avis. I then used my Debit card to pay for the days wed have the car before returning home. Since my wife and I eschew credit cards in an effort to be financially responsible, I read up on the requirements for Debit cards. The section explained that the person whose name was on the card would have to be there and that an ID was required (please remember this as it comes into play later). When we went to pick up the car, I was informed that a credit check was required. Since my credit score wasnt 650 or better, we were not allowed to get the car, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ALREADY PAID FOR!!! While the service rep tried his best (the ONLY high point of this experience) he informed us that this was COMPANY policy. (Heres where my previous statement about debit cards comes into play) AT NO TIME did the section I read say that a credit check would be required! Our argument that the car had ALREADY been paid for didnt matter. Our vacation plans were almost ruined by this asinine policy! I will never attempt to use Avis at anytime in the future and I will voice loudly and often that no one else do as well!

I got a ticket because the little Hyundai accent they gave me made me drive like Mario Andretti at the Indy. $126 bucks down the drain because the Hyundai accent is for advanced drivers who know what that rolly crank thing is to put the windows down. Mr State Trooper sir, this rental like the car in Stephen Kings Christine. It just wants to go.
A truly unmatched experience. I have visited over fifty Avis locations due to the nature of my work. The owner of this location is the sole reason I continue to rent with Avis. I have had several situations in which I needed his help, and he always accommodated my request. In a business that is often transactional, this owner treats his customers as friends.
Adversarial customer service aimed at extracting fees from customers. The vehicle I rented had an imprecise digital gauge. It registered one bar down from a full tank when I picked it up. When I refilled the tank before returning it, at a gas station less than a mile from the rental location, I similarly couldnt get the gauge to register as completely full, even when I added gas beyond the cutoff point of the pump head. An Avis employee told me it was a pretty big deal that I had returned the car in that state, that he didnt believe my story, and that I would be assessed a penalty fee. I took the keys back to add even more gas myself, and when I got to the car the gauge was magically showing a full tank. If I were a cynic, I would think this rental agency knowingly profits from inaccurate and/or imprecise gas gauges. Beware.

Avis inside of Sears employees are mean for some reason. Twice I walked out. My reason to use Enterprise. Brandon at South 301 and other locations. The man in charge mean as a 🐍.
