I lived at the flats and would not recommend this place to anyone. When we first moved In that night we were greeted by a couple of roaches. This problem persisted and they said it was due to weather. Having 5-10 roaches when you first move in and persisting is not a weather problem. The second day my roommates dad came over and we had 10 roaches all in the living room. We had sewage from the line in our apartment overflow due to horrible plumbing of the complex and when we told the complex about this they didn’t think water flooding our apartment was necessary for maintenance to come. The staff is completely not helpful at all with anything especially Nancy. When we first moved in they had the wrong address on our lease!!!!! We had one problem after the next. My dog got attacked at this complex by another dog living there and the staff knew the other dog was one of the restricted breeds on the lease! They did nothing about the restricted dog till it was too late and mine got attacked. Least pet friendly complex I could ever think of! It broke our hearts seeing our puppy hurt, thankfully we got him to the vet orient away and he recovered. This could’ve been prevented if the complex adhered to their pet policies. One of my roommates cars had a tree fall on it due to the horrible parking area. You can’t go to management staff about any problems because they completely ignore you. We tried calling so many times about maintence issues and no one answered the phones. Management is completely unresponsive. Also there’s dog poop everywhere around the complex, the amenities are never clean or sanitary either. They sneaked extra charges on us when we moved out all these hidden fees and so on and when we called to ask about it no one was ever in the office or returned our calls. All in all If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My roommates and I are pretty easy people to please so the fact that we disliked this place so much speaks volumes. Reading the rest of the reviews it is evident it was not just us that have experienced these problems.
The flats was an awesome experience for 3 years, we never had any big problems with our unit and requests for maintenance were always prompt. The office staff; especially Nancy were a pleasure to work with and I always felt welcomed. Great location and price for the area!
Nancy and the rest of the staff in the front office are helpful and very responsive. They make our time here feel at ease. We’ve recently renewed our lease and look forward to another great year here.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay for over 3 years at the Flats. The location, price, space and amenities was better than all the other locations we looked at in the area. We highly recommend staying at the Flats if you’re looking for a solid apartment to live at in the Tampa/ Seminole Heights area!!
The managment is super chill you can decorate your porch as tacky as you like
Would not recommend. I’ve had several several issues with my AC/Heat that have been “fixed” numerous times. One of which insanely spiked my light bill and I have yet to hear back from the manager for them to reimburse me even after several emails have been sent.
Our friends recommended this apartment complex to us. We moved in a few months ago. It’s very quiet and a bit tucked away. The pool area is magical. The pool is y shaped and surrounded by lush greenery. There’s also a small and simple gym. I haven’t tried it yet but it’s got the basics as seen in the photos on google. There’s also a small dog park with plenty of shade. There are also several dog waste stations around the complex so there’s easy access to doggie waste bags/trash cans. The complex has the grounds cared for once a week. If there are any issues that arise staff are very friendly to work with and display meaningful customer service. The complex has a decent system for reporting and requesting maintenance. The WiFi is reliable and has good speed. My husband and I both work from home and have had no issues. It is an older complex so some parts look older (the porches) but many parts have been renovated including the apartments. Overall this is a pleasant, affordable, dog friendly place to live with quality amenities.
Nancy was super helpful! She contacted me with daily updates and worked around my schedule. Excited to be moving into this apartment complex.
Overall it is a good place to live if you work/go to school downtown. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The initial process to move in was a little bit slow due to difficulty and delay in communication with the staff as the pandemic was just hitting. Otherwise, I have enjoyed living here for the past 6 months.
So far so good. Nancy was the nicest. Wish the pool was open but it’s Covid. Easy move in. Secret hidden gem in the middle of Tampa. Five stars.
Had an abysmal experience trying to get an emergency maintenance request addressed after my ceiling caved in. Major safety issue living here. The contractors used for the job began repairs prematurely without my knowledge or consent, and damaged my personal property in the process. Its been roughly one month since the incident and I still dont have resolution. Management is either incapable of handling the task or does not consider a tenants ceiling collapsing to be a priority. Will not renew lease, seeking alternate housing.
I have lived here for several years. Love this place!! It is close to all the great spots in Seminole Heights, Tampa Heights and Downtown Tampa! Staff (especially Nancy and Janice!!) are all very accommodating and pleasant. Best apartments in the area with an awesome pool! Highly recommend!
No one answers the phone ever, or even email.
My husband and I have been living here for almost 6 years and we love it here. It was a little shaky the first few years but a big change occurred when the current owners took over. Nancy is so special. She goes above and beyond. We really dont have any problems except for maybe air conditioning which is normal but if we do Nancy always sees to it we are taken care of. I just met the manager Janice and she is a jewel also. Good Christian women which is a plus to me. I give 5 stars.
Lived here for three years and like it very much. The staff is friendly, maintenance prompt. The location is perfect. Amenities are decent... gate works 2/3 of the time. Prices are decent and units are attractive. Best living experience Ive had renting in Tampa so far.
I go to the Flats all the time to visit my friend and I love these apartments. He recently upgraded to a tow bedroom and its very specious and roomy. The pool area is very clean and replacing surrounded by lots of plants which I love. The parking is great there is always a spot available. I love the location which keeps you at close proximity to all the hot spots in Tampa.
This has by far been one of the best experiences that I’ve had with an apartment community. One of the best pieces of advice I have for anyone is remember, this is Tampa and only 20 minutes out of USF, you’re fighting hundreds of other applicants for a single unit, so if you want it, you need to be diligent. With that said, the staff has been amazing to me each time, from Nancy in the office and the maintenance gentleman (sorry, name is slipping me) and are extremely friendly. You’re getting a gated community central to anywhere in Tampa you could think about going, and the apartments are spacious and beautiful!
If you are considering living here please reconsider. It’s not worth the aggravation. Maintenance and management are horrific.I’ve lived in apartment complexes that I had to put in maintenance requests. Complexes that were far from perfect, but they completed every single request. Some took longer than others, but they were completed. Not here. This complex can’t even address something as simple as a dent in a window screen. Took two maintenance requests and a few emails to even get to the phony resolution response.Final response read as follows, Maintenance tech and supervisor reviewed your window screen and did not see a problem with the screen they said it fits in the frame. If there is something else wrong please submit another work order. My reply was, I give up.Other complexes I’ve lived at left a slip that briefly explains what was done. Not here. What should be a simple solution cannot be done. Have to nag just to get an answer to anything. What are the other joys of living here? Apartment has a musty odor I noticed upon move in and still remains. Their solution was a plug-in air freshener. I thought it was funny even their virtual apartment tours put on their website since Coronavirus started have plugin air fresheners in them. Maybe it’s their protocol but I’ve never seen a complex do that. They must know there is a problem that requires masking not fixing. If you take a look one of the many pictures I’ve attached, you will notice the metal circular part of the bathtub (I don’t know the technical name) is disgusting. This is what it looked like upon move on. Maintenance request regarding this marked as complete with no explanation. Let’s just say it’s nothing of concern, why would you allow that remain in an apartment for a new tenant? At least attempt to appear decent.Speaking of upon move in and the bathroom. I noticed upon move in a used toilet seat painted over. They at least had the decency to replace that upon request but that’s not a request that should ever have to be made. Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of that one.Apartment is severely infested with termites. I’ve woken up with them on and all around me. In the morning I see them on my bed, base of the walls, floor, ceiling and flying around. The bedroom is the worst, but termites can be found all over. They use the excuse it’s a busy swarm season like that somehow justifies living in these conditions. Oh, ok its swarm season! Everything is swell! Reduce my rent a few hundred and Ill consider accepting that. I have friends who live in Florida who say thats unacceptable. Its not just me. Pest control is ineffective for termites. On move in day the very first thing I noticed in the kitchen was an American cockroach on the wall. Just hanging out enjoying itself. Seen a few afterwards as well but pest control was effective in this case. I’ve not seen one since. Knock on wood I don’t see one anytime soon.I’ve never posted an apartment review, but this place is horrendous. Biggest mistake I’ve made in terms of rental choice. Biggest positive is the bus stop out front. Learn from my mistake and avoid at all costs. I promise you will regret it.
Just moved in and my apartment was very nice, exactly how I was expecting it to be. Everything that was promised within the apartment was kept, which a lot of apartments don’t do. Love the area and the pricing. So far it’s one of the best places I’ve lived at so far.
Lived here for about 2 months last summer before my roommate and I had to move out because of a huge leak in my room. Management dealt with it horribly and I even had to get legal help just to get some of my money back (didnt even get it all back). If you arent well versed in tenant laws then I would not recommend living here AT ALL. If you have a problem youll find the cheap price of living in a super old building it not worth it to your health. Im 100% sure there was mold because I kept getting migraines (never had them before I lived here) but the management refused to do any mold test but since there was a leak in my room that they attempted to fix multiple times. In Florida where there is water there is mold......
I enjoyed living here for the most part but I moved out 2/28/19 and have not received my security deposit back. I received my last bill about 3 weeks after moving out and have contacted the office several times so as soon as I get my security deposit I can update my rating but until then it will have to stay at one star.Update April 16So had “run around” from them.Called them then was asked call them back in 5 min.Called in 5 min again, they answered -told me to hold on the line and sent me straight to voice mail then never got an answer or call back that day. Finally got email they said they going to send a security deposit check. The same day I got My check, found out they didn’t subtract my utilities bill from deposit as they promised BUT instead was sent to collections. So good luck with dealing with management !
The neighborhood is very quiet apartment community as well. The staff are nice and show great customer service.
My fiance & I really enjoyed living here. Any issues we had were attended to quickly. We had an issue with us being charged for not having renters insurance when we did. It took longer than we would have liked to get it fixed but it did get fixed. The gym leaves much to be desired but I guess thats just apartment living. The dog park area is really nice. We also appreciated the dog poop stations with bags.
As a second year tenant I am confident saying these Flats are the way to go if you are looking for affordable pricing for a 2 bed floor plan. Janice and Nancy are committed to handling all future tenant questions and concerns with a warm welcoming smile.
Unfortunately, I was never a resident at this complex, and its not for lack of trying. As a student at the University of Tampa, it was important to me and my roommate that we found a place that was both close to campus and affordable. Between March and now (late June), we have been in a game of cat and mouse with the leasing office - which is run by only one woman. We have repeatedly called and visited the complex and were told that we would be notified when there was availability for our time frame. Being that the university housing is nearly non-existent for continuing students, we were desperate and were seeking availability for any time during the summer. It was as if every time we called, this woman would act like she had never met us. We would leave messages that were unreturned, she never called us when availability arose (despite promising that three times), and she is unwilling to say anything helpful (Thats too bad all the time). Additionally, the website reflects that the office is open by appointment on Saturdays, as well as availability throughout our search period. This was untrue, according to the woman. Therefore, the website should be updated so as not to be misleading. She also seemed to have a problem with our guarantor (who is 60 and works regular hours four hours away) not wanting to fill out the application online. In conclusion, it was unfortunate that we fell in love with the property and were excited to live there, only to be treated with disrespect by the only property representative.
Look for somewhere else to live, because this place is not worth it. I am in the military and need a place fast. I was living there before they were bought by Pinnacle Living. It was much better then. It was much quieter. The front staff is never there. I put in a request, three times, to fix my window that had fallen off the track, and they never came. I did it myself. When I moved out they took my security deposit for normal wear and tear. Fighting to get that back now. The Corporate office is not much better. Moral of the story is they can have new pool furniture, but the place is a dump, has roach problems, and lacks any type of effort by the management office.
Quiet, very well lit, safe gated community. Ive lived here for 10 months never had any major issues. Everything has been taken care of in a timely manner. Office management is very helpful and maintenance is quick to respond and resolve problems. The majority of everyone in the community is friendly. So far I have never really had any issues or complaints about neighbors.
I’ve lived here at the Flats going on three years now. I am very content with the experience I’ve had so far. The office and Maintenace staff are very respectful and accommodating. All service request are handled in a timely fashion. The improvements around the property and upgrades inside the apartments are phenomenal!!
This is a great place, I honestly can say the new administration is amazing their professional, easy going and understanding. The renovations look great and secured. In general, its a good place to live my son I have no complains.
Extremely Helpful & Kind. Nancy was over the top helpful to my husband and I who moved here from Los Angeles. We were very happy with the way she handled our business and how she went above and beyond to assist us in the process.
I lived there for 6 months. As Im unpacking my kitchen stuff, the kitchen was infested with cockroaches in the drawers, around the stove and the pantries. The issue took a week to be addressed by managment and maintenance after several phone calls and emails.I moved out in May 2017, I gave my 60 day notice, till this date I have not received my security deposit back. I have talked to Thomas at the office, multiple times, with no resolution on where my security deposit is, and he is unable to get a straight answer on the status.I put down a month of rent down (almost $1000) and $400 pet for a deposit. Today, I was finally able to get a hold of Thomas, and he stated Im only getting $150 back and he doesnt know when it may be mailed out. The property manager was able to rent the unit the same week I moved out. I left the apartment in excellent conditions.I advise you to find somewhere else to live, even if it takes longer.
I scheduled a tour for this past weekend (and received a confirmation email) and when I got there the leasing office was vacant and locked. I waited around the office for 15 minutes and called several times to no avail. I understand that things happen but I think I should have at least received a call to cancel instead of having me wait around. I saw another couple waiting outside and yanking on the locked door as I left too so this must be a common issue. After seeing the community in person Im no longer interested anyway.
Ive lived here about 8 months and am definitely considering resigning for another year. The maintenance staff is so quick to fix any issues you have, and the remodeled kitchen looks brand new and is so easy to keep clean. Plus you cant beat the location!
My family and I have lived here for 2 years. The staff is very friendly and super helpful. It’s very quiet and all the neighbors are very nice and respectful.
This place is being updated and worked on which is nice. The surrounding area is definitely a bit rough. Once they finish theirnuogrades and redo all the apartments and the amenities this will be a wonderful place to live. The office staff and matinance crew are unbelievably nice. Better than my own apartment complex.
The gate hasnt worked the entire length of our lease, and they say theyre going to fix it but havent- Its apparently also not for security, its to control parking. The security cameras also dont work. The windows in our apartment all have mold around them even though we never open them, and we experienced recurring sewage problems (bad ones). The gas in the grill is never there and they wouldnt reimburse us for a new tank (even on a government holiday where grilling is a must!). Our termite problem was ignored, and when we brought these issues up with the property manager we were told none of these things were promised in our lease agreement. They ARE however, advertised on their website... so a bit of false advertising. Liked that they allowed big dogs and had washer and dryer units in the apartments but they are raising the rent even though they havent delivered on amenities they promised before.
I really liked living here but I am having trouble getting my deposit back. We moved out 2/28/19. Three weeks later we received a final bill with no sign of our deposit. We have contacted the office week after week. I would like this resolved, so I could revise my rating but at this time I’m giving one star.UPDATESo after calling and calling and emailing I finally got a check mailed out to me for the entire amount of the deposit, unfortunately, they didn’t subtract the money owed for the last months water, sewage and trash, and before I got a chance to cash the check they had already sent the account to collections. Literally the day after I received a check for $300, a collections company called me asking for $50 that I owed on my last month. It was my impression that the remaining amount owed should have been subtracted from my deposit but no. They just send you the full amount and then send you to collections. What the hell is wrong with this place?
Its clean outside and the on call person Pedro is kind on time and explains things nicely
Horrible. Avoid at all costs! I entered a lease with my roommate the leasing office likes to raise the rent a week before you move in. So be aware of that bad business practice. (1st clue) Then I go to the leasing office 4 months before my lease ends to leave or see if i can sublet my room as I needed to move. They tell me that is not possible and I cannot sublet. Bummer but I tell them I will still pay my portion of the rent. So no worries. I leave and came to find out that my roommate and the leasing office brought in a new person without notifying me or without taking me off the lease. Safe to say that me and my old roommate are not on good as I paid my portion of the rent before I realized someone was living in my room. The leasing office is horrible and are not helpful and for some reason tried to lie to me. They put someone else on my lease without telling me.Assist me how? You have already lied to me. I have been speaking to the leasing office.
They own Fernwood Grove Apartments. I have a housing voucher from the VA. They no longer accept it. I`m going to be homeless on 3/31. Nobody cares. I`m going to hitch hike out of Florida because no apartments on the housing authority list will call me back. I have no place to live.
Great place to live.
Absolutely the worst place I have ever lived. Its dirty, and we have had constant bug issues and rent renewal issues. It looks cute from the pictures do not be deceived. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.
This is a beautiful place to live! I moved in April 1st. The new renovations are gorgeous, the staff is great, and the grounds are well maintained.
I just renewed my lease for another year. Always have had a great experience with the office staff and the neighbors are lovely.
At least once a month, someone wakes me up after 1AM because theyre outside making noise at the pool. Just like now. Im awake because one of my neighbors thought it was OK to walk through the pool area at 2:50AM talking...no yelling across the pool area to someone else. And if its not that, then its swimming and talking, or playing music and swimming, or swimming with their dog, or sitting by the pool drinking and laughing...At 👏1 👏o 👏clock 👏in 👏the 👏morning.Or its the neighbor that sits on his loud idling motorcycle for 2 full minutes at 7am on a Sunday morning before deciding to finally drive off. Slowly. These are literally the worst neighbors Ive ever had, and I used to live in Chicago...in the ghetto...These people will be your new neighbors. Come enjoy them with me.Just an update: 4 hours and 40 minutes. This is the record so far. Today theyve been out there for over four hours. Theyve been going strong since midnight. And. Wait for it: they had the courtesy to come back when the sun came up at 6:30am. Theyre champions. Nether bright nor considerate, but champions none the less.
BEWARE! This place is terrible, the staff is completely unprofessional and only provide the bare minimum when it comes to resolving issues. If that wasnt bad enough these apartments are infested with bugs (roaches and termites) For what they charge for rent you can find a MUCH better apartment.
I love this place, the new administration is amazing. Jackie the manager is very Profesional and easy going.. Everything is remodeling and very secure. In general, its a very good place to live and it is close to the airport, mall, pharmacies, supermarket, dentist, hospital, and college (hcc).
Walked into the office, went to sit down to wait because I saw the only person in the office was currently helping someone. She came out of the office, asked what I was there for, I told her Im looking to view an apartment, she told me to come back in 15 minutes, I asked her if I could just wait, she put her arms up and said she could give me a brochure but couldnt help me.
I’m just confused. I checked online and saw availablility, even called and set up an appointment to see the apartments. When I get there Nancy (the lady I set the appointment with) wasn’t there. So after tracking down a manager she tells me they have no units available and will not have any till next year!!! So why did Nancy tell me they did and to come see them!?!
Called as a prospective resident. Wouldnt move in based solely off how the woman spoke to me on the phone. Very unfriendly and unhelpful.
WORST PLACE TO LIVE!!these people have the worst management Ive seen in my life. The maintenance team is an old man who does not take the time to clean the entrances of the apartments, everything is full of dirt and the hallway of the apartment always smells bad. They show a model apartment and what they give you is totally different than what you get. They gave me an apartment with the main bathroom that the only thing I could use that bathroom, for 3 months, was for use the tub, because since I moved I reported the water leaking issue and the handyman came and made a hole in the wall and never returned to finish the repair . Pass almost 4 months with a hole in the wall, musty smelling coming up from that hole and seeing spiders coming out of the hole . The only thing I received from the administration is lies saying the handyman will go to repair it and never came to fix it. They even have the courtesy to come and see through their eyes what was happening in the apartment. I finally found a decent place where I can be with my family and I broke my contract with them and they never returned my deposit. I do not recommend this place at all !
Modern apartments, quiet and beautiful landscaping.
The gym needs serious remodeling, landscaping need a boost.
Nice secure complex
Nice place
Getting ready
