If you’ve ever wanted to live in a Walmart parking lot, this is the apartment for you. Huge, paper thin windows that don’t seal properly and will never be replaced provide a 360° surround sound experience! You can look forward to the full, unfiltered sounds of people shouting outside said windows feet from where you sleep due to roads being immediately outside your door in many units. It’s almost like everyone’s right in your home with you! With parking lots and roads just a few steps from your door, get ready to party all night long with the many residents and guests that park outside of a unit and leave music blasting at max volume while they’re away from their car. They’re not even in the car listening to it, it’s just for you and the surrounding ten units to enjoy at fun, random intervals! The incredible sense of community is strengthened even more by other peoples’ garbage ending up in front of your door every week. Not a smoker? No problem! You’ll find dozens of cigarette butts strewn all over your porch and the small patch of grass in front your unit every day! But don’t think the garbage stops there, you’ll just have to see what kinds of weird trash or pet waste ends up in front of your home when you move in yourself. With features like these and a staff that makes a weird, dismissive impression from day one, it’ll be easy to see why you’re paying over $1200 a month for a one bedroom apartment in one of the most obnoxious areas in Tampa. Prices are only going up every year, so get in while you can!I’m not using my real name, but I have been a resident here for years. It used to be a lot more peaceful here, and the units themselves (from the inside) are quite nice so I hate that I’ll have to move soon. If you’re looking for a quiet place to live, keep looking. Aside from all that the maintenance staff are fantastic people and that’s probably the best thing I have to say.**I’m editing this because I forgot to mention that everyone uses the recycling area as another place to throw their garbage; it’s really terrible-looking and sad. You cannot actually recycle here.

We have been living here for 6 months. I really liked the apply online and pick you apartment feature, made things easy for me when I was moving here from another city and was able to do all the application process online. The property is quite, maintained, the pools are clean, its a small work out room, nice big dog park, playground basketball court are all nice and not tore up, the bus stop is at the playground which is convenient, I have an updated apartment so my place is really nice.Over all we love it here and its super close to everything and the freeways.

Been here 6 months now and I have nothing to complain about. The staff is always professional and timely in responding to our needs, the groundsare always clean and well kept, the noise levels are low. I love seeing children play comfortably outside and walking around the community is always peaceful experience. The gym should have a way to open windows and all equipment up and running with a social distance/occupied sign; still has been an overall nice place to live.

My boyfriend and I moved into our apartment here in July 2018. We had to end our lease early (December 2018) due to personal issues, but regardless we enjoyed our time at Summit West. I give the property 4 stars for a few reasons. First, upon move in our apartment wasnt exactly clean. The drawers in the kitchen and cabinet in the bathroom were gross. We easily looked past that due to that fact we had planned on deep cleaning the whole place anyways. Secondly, during the summer/hotter months we were there, the AC went out like clockwork every month. However, maintenance staff were pretty much always there the next day working on it. Lastly, I really feel like the apartments are priced a bit high for what you get. They are not luxury by any means, but they are comfortable. Honestly, Id probably rate the complex 3 stars if it werent for the fact that the office staff were always so nice to us and worked with us during a very difficult time (financially).

DO NOT RENT FROM SUMMIT WEST!!My lease ended this month. During your move out they will try to add on extra fees and purposely make you pay late fees. There is a reason they have 16 vacancies and giving you special deals to move in. They are also offering residents a $250 Visa card to get them to stay. Dont fall for it. There are much better places to live in the area.Natalie looper will lie. Shes supposed to help residents but does not. Says one thing and then says another. The complex is a decent place to live albeit with a seemingly endless amount of monthly fees that take your rent up another 100 or more dollars. The owner of the complex....UDR....unfortunately, is a faceless, personless, office of evil; caring for nothing NOTHING!!!....other than money in their pockets. Certainly NOT surprising. I look forward to paying that office a visit, perhaps.

My family has lived here for 20 years, and for awhile it was a really nice place, all things considered. But as of late, weve been having more and more issues that havent been addressed by management. It just keeps getting worse, only to be told tough luck. Its gotten to the point where weve advised our friends and family to look somewhere else, because were definitely not signing here ever again. So from me to you, there are much better places that are more centrally located with better management ESPECIALLY for the price. Happy hunting

I had a very difficult time deciding on which apartment I wanted, and had a few other issues prior to moving in. However, Cynthia was great, she was very patient with me and showed no frustration. She took out time to ensure I found the right apartment that I actually wanted. She had to change my documentation over four times on a Friday evening right before she was set to leave. Her service was outstanding and her humbled sweet spirit convinced me this was a good place. The maintenance is also great and the area appears to be very quiet. I’m pleased so far, even though the company has two deposit fees that they don’t explained well prior to paying the application fee.

Ive been here a year and it really is one of the best deals for the money as far as renting goes. I moved into summit west apartments 8/15/2015. The staff is great including maintenance. I really don’t want to move but I am tired of Carpet in my apartment only because the laundry room gives off a lot of dust creating a dirty look to the carpet no matter how many times I carpet clean. AND if I want to put down flooring I have to pay for it instead of being an incentive for renewal, which management don’t offer unless you the resident bring it up. I will be vacating on 7/2018

BEWARE YOUNG ADULTS!If you want to sign for an apartment and get excited, start planning, and then get a phone call saying “oh the tenants are taking it back,” look no further! Not only will they ALLOW the tenants to take it back, but the manager (Daniel) says “NO APARTMENT IS GUARANTEED” That’s if you don’t mind signing 3 differences leases. If you Have a serious concern and want to get laughed at? Look no further just ask for Pam! They don’t return phone calls no matter how many voicemails you leave. Pam doesn’t email back and always has an excuse plus she leaves early or just isn’t there! However, the only way to get answers to your questions is to go in person. I’m not sure if it was because we were young and black, but Pam thinks everything is funny, won’t return phone calls, and doesn’t mind giving you the run around. Happy hunting!

Spoke with Ms. Erika yesterday about coming to do a tour today. She was so nice, friendly and helpful, it was hard not to get excited about seeing my possible new home. I was sent 2 different text messages reminding me my appointment was for today, February 25th, at 9:00am. I got to the property at 8 57am, the doors were locked and there was a sign saying they will be back at 9:00am, so I waited outside in the cold. It was 9:25am when I finally realized they were not coming to answer the door. I live in downtown St. Petersburg and got a ride all the way over to Tampa to come do this viewing today before I had to be at work at 11:00am. Thank you Summit West for wasting my time, failing to keep you word, and letting me know my business is not valued with you guys...P.S., the ACTUAL apartments look absolutely nothing like they do online. Everything is dead, bare and looks worst than when I was living on the Southside.

I was really not going to give this place anything, but since our lease is about to be over I should let people know what their in for. After being her for a year Ive noticed so much in so little time. I guess Ill start off with the customer service. Pam is the biggest joke I have ever met. Talking to her makes you think shes brainwashed because she litterally laughs at anything and thinks things are a joke. My sisters car got towed after being in a NONVISITOR parking spot for only 30 min. Mind you we only been staying here for 3 weeks then. So we just moved in. We went to complain to the front office, and suggest they put more visitor parking or more signs warning people and she laughed at us. My sister paid almost a $300 towing fee! As if that didnt set me off, THERE ARE DEFINITELY CRIMINALS LIVING HERE!! There are a group of men that live next door and across from me that stalk me and go out of their way to bother me when I leave for work. It was so bad to the point where I had to call the police because I have children. Not only that! Their living like some kind of halfway house because its always different people of all races. I hate it here so much. The apartment looks nice on the outside but my roof is caving in multiple spots in my house. Please I beg you to ask questions. DONT LET PAM FOOL YOU. And be aware of your surroundings!

Im not sure about all these complaints. Ive been there going on 3 years and never once had an issue with the office staff or maintenance. Sure, the buildings are 40+ years old and things are going to break. Is it the hottest spot in Tampa to live? Absolutely not. The recent home invasion that happened was an isolated incident. Never once has my family felt unsafe. The office staff has been more than accommodating on requests and maintenance makes repairs in a timely manner. Theres an emergency number for you to call if something like a leak, major plumbing issue, or loss of HVAC occurs. Ive used it and theyve been right out. My ONLY complaint is that I believe the rent is a bit too high for the area. Oh and those extra fees someone is talking about, thats the water/trash/pest control fee on the rent. Its stated in your rental agreement.

You get hosed on fees which they never tell you about. its run by a professional property mgmt organization with many properties nationwide and all they care about is their bottom line. There are disturbed and dangerous people living here which they do nothing about as long as they get their money (they accept Section 8). I have seen extremely sketchy things going on after not even a year here. Dont live here because if you do and something happens help wont be able to get to you because the building numbers are not visible from the roadway. There are 40 or 50 buildings and the numbering is all out of order so good luck to your visitors and delivery drivers as well if you decide to let this place bleed you dry.

The Pros about living here is its very quiet. You may get the occasional loud bass of someones music playing every now and then as they drive past but not to bad. The parking spaces are pretty big so if you have a bigger vehicle you wont have any issues. The staff is friendly and are not rude. If you are coming from out of state be prepared to get ripped off. This is a very diverse complex and have a lot of good families here. We have the same apt as our neighbor facing us and theirs is renovated with washer/dryer hardwood etc and they pay 300 less then us and we have no washer/dryer and one gray color going throughout the entire apt! Next Con is the plumbing, it sucks really bad. Tons of backups, and when we turn the water on hot its cold for like 15 seconds then gradually warms up. The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors if they are noisy even in the bathroom. The water bill is over 100 and we have no washer/dryer with just two adults. The paint is dull and they do a crappy job on the paint job, over spray, globs off paint, etc. You can even see lines where the roof caved and the crappy drywall job they did to repair. Also there are a lot of college kids living in this complex, so expect to not have parking close some days as a lot of people park that dont live there which forces you to park further. Also the sprinklers wet cars up and even damaged a guys brakes from the constant spraying every night. The dog park is dried up and is just dirt filled with poop and fleas. Now to the Fees. Water, Sewage will run you well over 100, reserved parking fee, not to mention if you decide to move they tack on 2 months of back pay of water/trash because the first two months are free but if you move they charge you for it. Honest opinion, move here if you are a college kid and can split the cost with a roommate. Families, dont move here their are better communities around that look like resorts and are cheaper minus the fees and newer.

I lived here a grand total of about 8 years so Summit West and I have been through a lot together. Pros: the neighborhood is extremely quiet most of the time (there were a few incidents with some rowdy neighbors), people are generally friendly/respectful, the office staff is courteous, and maintenance is, bar none, the best Ive seen. Like seriously, I often wondered how they got some of the maintenance requests done so fast? Its like Jimmy Johns. Cons: the buildings are older so things tend to break or need maintenance often, the water is not individually metered so that can mean a higher than average water bill, they now charge for parking which is increasingly hard to find given the number of (again, paid for) assigned parking spots, and they are a bit pricey. But would I live there again? Absolutely!!!! Summit West is a great place to live.... I moved out because I bought a house.

I have lived here for a year now. I will not be renewing my lease for several reasons. First being PRICE. I have a 3/2 with all new appliances (including washer and dryer) and my rent is $1390. On top of the rent we are charged $15 for parking thats not a designated spot and about $100 a month for water and sewer. There is only ONE garbage for the entire complex and its a far walk. The complex is quiet for the most part and the office staff is very friendly. So I have mixed emotions about this complex. My ceiling caved after the hurricane and caused a rodent problem so I was very upset that my renewal had an increase.

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!A few months after I moved in a resident in the apartment next to mine had their ceiling fall in due to water damage and it caused massive damage not only to the persons apartment, but to three or four apartments around it in the same building. While they did fix the damage, they were not accommodating to the residents very well and it took forever to fix the apartments. A couple months later the same thing happens to an apartment facing my building. I decided to leave the complex after that. They do not care about the safety of their residents and will yank you every which way as you try to leave. THEN if you do leave they will try and say the reason you moved out was not fear for safety, but for other unrelated issues so they will not get in trouble. Horrible place to live. And that is just one thing, not to mention it takes them 4-5 days to fill out a maintenance request. If I could give negative stars I would.

Worst place I have ever lived. The staff changed constantly, it was hell to try to get anything fixed since apparently maintenance doesnt like to work evenings or weekends. I did not like the extra monthly pet fee, its ridiculous and its PER ANIMAL. Plus my water bill was so high! I dont know how my water bill was constantly over $100 when it was only myself and my BF. I emailed the manager and the charge you based on ESTIMATED usage before the month is even up. I live in a 3br house with 3 other people and our water is never more then $80. Besides that the kids are terrible. Running around on peoples houses, if you go on their resident site (after yous sign a lease of course ugh) there are nothing but strings of complaints about thefts of packages and items and people catching kids. Really who runs on roofs?! Ill never go back or recommend anyone stay here.

STAY AWAY. I thought this place was a steal when I rented but but this place is not worth the cost and they are deceptive. You will end up paying well over $100 in additional fees not included in the original rent amount AND they are starting to charge for preferred parking spaces. There are many people who should not be here on the property taking up vehicle space so instead of fixing the problem they will be charging residents a MINIMUM of $25 to have a parking space thats not three lots away from your front door. Maintenance is terrible. They dont work nights or weekends and you have to complain to management before things get fixed. Also there is no irrigation so when the sprinklers go off they flood all of the sidewalks and there is no way around it and the water consistently gets to a height above your ankles. My neighbors complained about the flooding coming in through their front doors on our resident online forums. The front of the complex has nice thick green grass but the new landscaping in the unseen apartments are literally just sod thrown down, half of which is dead and brown due to it not being planted correctly. You pay an extra monthly fee for pets and no pit bulls are allowed on the property but you will not go one day without seeing one. Sometimes they are unleashed and one almost attacked my small dog. Oh yea and the thefts and burglaries! People will steal packages right off of your doorstep as well as childrens bikes and possessions off of patios. We have had multiple people breaking in to peoples cars and shooting Windows out with BB guns! The kids over here will run across your roof tops and smoke weed outside of your home. The police are over here a lot more than they should be. Also there is only one dumpster on the premises so enjoy the long walk or car ride to the trash and thats if the compactor is working. When its broken people just leave their trash in the front on the street and its disgusting. I thought it was a nice neighborhood but it has deteriorated greatly since Ive been here. Ive lived here quietly for a year and have always paid my rent on time with no issues. This is just not a good place to live. Take your time to find a nicer place elsewhere. Just stay away from all UDR run apartments. If you go on their site their other complexes also have terrible reviews. Its just thoroughly bad management. The only lady that was actually a good worker and who convinced me to move here (we are still friends) quit because management was so strict and didnt care about the residents like she did. Just find another place. Id NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Also upon move out they will over chsrge For cleaning fees. I cleaned my apt and did the carpets myself before moving and I STILL got ripped off. They offer you a great deal to have your apt cleaned ahead of time for $300 but apparently if you opt out they charge you double for the same service. Also! About the crime rates! My car insurance dropped $50 (fifty!) after moving to my new home due to the high risk of the area. My renters insurance was almost cut in half for a year. I live in an actual house now so Im not promoting any other complex but if you are just trying to save a buck like I was, its a mistake. This was the worst place I have ever lived in.
