6 years of hard work just to be let go during the pandemic. Tried to reapply when they were desperate for more staff post pandemic, but they wont even give me an interview. Terrible ownership. Do not recommend working here. Also super soft routes, nothing even 5.11 level unless you lead.PS: In response to the response. Its difficult to read a response from a failing gym, I wish you the best of luck in your future buisness ventures. They also definitely do not value their staff as shown by laying off multiple of their top seasoned staff members during the panic and not givining them an opportunity to return. A constant fear of being let go at the drop of a pin is not a healthy work environment. Also I was there just last month, and I go there at least a few times a year, Im very familiar with the gym.

They are very nice here. You need a membership or a guest pass to get in. You can rent climbing shoes or bring your own. They have beginner levels to pro, as well as a little gym with treadmills and weights. You have to wear masks here even when working out.

Very friendly, welcoming place to send routes, of which there are tons!Very good, accurate rating system in my opinion; new routes all the time that get our votes and input.Great for both beginners and those prepping for the next big wall escapade.Yoga also available so you can get that recovery in.Beware of huge crowds on weekends, but patience will get you plenty of time on the wall

This gym considers some top rope routes as bouldering routes, which feels a bit messy and unsafe as the ropes lay untied all around.EDIT: Thanks for the response. We bought day passes for bouldering only and communicated this to staff. The orienting staff specifically suggested the top rope routes as additional bouldering routes.

I was looking forward to put my son in climbing lessons and it seems this gym lacks efficiency when it comes to planning. I called on the phone and they gave me a time that could work for my son and when the day came I showed up with him and they told me he can’t join the class and the only option available is getting him private lessons and we had to leave even though he was warming up already with the other kids. It would be so much easier if they knew what they really offer but it seems they’re not the greatest at planning and communicating.

Unfortunately it is no longer comfortable to climb here. The gym leaves all the doors open and especially if your zone is close to one of these openings, your fingers and toes get pretty frozen quickly. There are a few issues with the reservation system that are very frustrating as well. If you do not arrive within the first 30 minutes, your booking is auto-cancelled. The creates a problem when is is difficult to find times that work exactly for our schedule and do not have 2 hours to dedicate to climbing or fitness. Some days we just come for 30 minutes and we pay for a membership so we should have the freedom to do that without having to call everyday to notify that our arrival time will be after the first 30 minutes. Even after calling to notify, sometimes our zone has been cancelled. The staff have made a way so we could still climb or do fitness so that was good but it’s just a frustrating and flawed process. The climbing however is very good. We enjoy all the settings and the different zones that Edgeworks has to offer.Theres no doubt that Edgeworks is a top notch climbing facility. The goal in this review is to improve the quality in areas that need improvement.Update: 11/1/2020I wanted to update as the gym has made some changes: Sometimes the doors are cracked, but not always when it is cold outside and fitness zone time slots have been reduced to 1 hour.

A friend invited me and my bf to come climbing with his son and roommate and it was the best decision I had for the day.Lots of different paths, for all levels (we are complete beginners), staff are super friendly, and the price is not that bad.We got in free with friends visitor pass and all we paid for were for shoes and a harness (the harness we shared). Which was nice so we saved from renting 3.Was a great workout and had a blast playing the addon game on the boulder climb. Will definitely be back here soon.

Edgeworks is great for top rope/lead climbing. However, the mats in their bouldering section are the worst that I’ve seen in any rock gym.If you want to boulder here, make sure you bring a crash pad.

Variety of climbs and walls to meet whatever climbing goals you have. (Bouldering, Top Rope, Lead, Auto Belay, 30ft and 45ft walls, clacks, slabs, and overhangs) They also have a small section of cardio and weight equipment, friendly staff, and an electronic bouldering board. Currently you need a reservation due to COVID and must wear a mask. Employees clean frequently to keep everything safe!

I give Edgeworks five stars because I think theyve earned it.- The staff is very friendly and accommodating while making sure you are doing things properly so as to stay safe on the wall.- The gym also offers a great set of resources between rope climbing, bouldering, and the fitness and training equipment.- I also think they are totally crushing the COVID response in big and little ways. They supply you with unlimited liquid chalk!! I yearn for the day I have my trusty chalk bag at my back, but until then Ill at least not be short of the second best option.Great work team!!

This is the best place to climb in the Tacoma area. Short and tall walls, bouldering, yoga, weigh training, classes, it has it all. Staff is great and knowledgable, this is a wonderful place. They even do outdoor excursion climbs. 5 stars all day. They are even taking covid precautions seriously.

Clean facility, friendly staff. The music choices could be better. They should not close off half of the routes because of social distancing because they already control the crowds by pre registering. That or they should rotate which routes should be closed for more variety. The routes could be switched up more frequently too.

Wonderful facility with plenty of routes to climb. 6 auto belay, lots of top rope and a good bit of lead climb. Very family friendly and welcoming to new climbers. Rental shoes and harnesses are clean and in great shape. Visited with family from out of town. One climbed a bunch the other used the gym to keep up the fitness routine before flying back home. I really couldnt be happier with this place. Ive been climbing here for years, attended classes, gone on guided trips, Ive had my kids in camps, my wife has gone to yoga classes, and work out in the weight room portion regularly. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable, my kids enjoy the classes and camps, they go out of their way to give me deals on equipment, and the locker room area is clean. For those who complain about pricing - wait for the first Friday in December and buy a membership for cash for a large discount.

They have restricted all 3 locations to not allow any kids under 14 to climb in their gyms, unless they are members. Not exactly sure how that is even legal to do... But even though we’ve been dozens of times in the past, for some reason they say during COVID, under 14 aren’t allowed on day passes, even though there’s been absolutely NO health guidance recommending this.

I have been here three times for college night. I think I maybe the weekend staff isn’t quite as helpful the regular staff. The first time I went there I was told that I was “too old” to take advantage of college night, and paid full price. The second time Was really nice. The young woman there was kind to me and my (then five year old nephew. The third (and final time) I will go to Edgeworks was today, where none of the staff had even HEARD of college night, but then started making up rules about how I could prove that I was taking classes full time. I take classes online and don’t have an ID cardIt’s sad because this place is very close to my house, but it’s way too expensive to get treated that way. If you go to planet fitness or something you expect to get crummy customer service, but not at a place where you can rack up a 50.00 bill for an adult and a kid. I won’t go back, and the two star rating is for the awesome lady the second time that I went.

I quit my gym membership and joined Edgeworks through a friend. It was definitely hard for me to get over my fear of heights and to trust the auto belay enough to safely lower me to the ground (sometimes I still climb down), but at the same time I appreciate the challenge. I’ve been climbing here for a few months and I’ve already noticed a positive change in my energy, mood, strength, and endurance while climbing and just with my life in general. I love how they also have affordable fitness classes like yoga and pilates as well as climber classes to prepare me for the outdoors. The staff and the community itself are all very friendly and supportive, something I could never find at a gym.

Amazing staff, friendly climbers. I can always find a belay partner if I come by myself, or use the 6 auto-belays. Group classes are fun and help you improve as a climber. Their space is about to double (and have much taller top rope walls) this year and Im super excited! They do a wonderful job setting routes for a variety of skill levels.

A few things in particular that stand out to me : Every staff member excels in customer service and seems to want to be there. Its fun for the whole family and I love the physical and intellectual challenge that rock climbing provides. The value of the membership far outweighs the cost per monthSee you there !

Such a great gym! They have rock climbing along with Yoga, Pilates and strength classes. Their membership has a lot of perks: you can get belay training for free and bring a free guest every month. You can also bring up to two free guests who have never been there before whenever you come! They only have to pay for equipment rental. We use this perk all the time and have introduced many new people to the sport of indoor rock climbing. This place really is for all levels, they have auto-belay stations so you can even climb if youre alone. Or, you could make a new friend since everyone Ive met there is super nice!

I enjoy rock climbing as I want to get better at it and enjoy the complexity and art behind the sport. Coming to a rock climbing gym, at least I thought, would be a good way to meet people as I have recently moved to the area a few months ago. The feeling at Edgeworks Climbing is that of unfriendliness, aloofness, judgmental and very cliche. Some employees are nicer than others but there are a very small handful that ruin the experience enough to motivate a person to write a negative review. In general the employees are not friendly, unless they personally know an individual as I witnessed an employee say that one of their friends did not have to pay to climb for a daily pass, and the snobby clicks creates an environment that is not conducive for single individuals that want to get into the sport of rock climbing. Due to the unfriendly environment that is hanging over Edgeworks Climbing, if there was another gym that not only provided a bouldering section along with the auto relays and belays I gladly would take my business else where. The fact remains that Edgeworks Climbing is the only rock climbing gym that offers the variety as there is another gym in Tacoma but it only offers bouldering. The combination of the unfriendly environment created by several employees and some customers, I guess I will continue to climb at Edgeworks Climbing until my pass run out and evaluate if Edgeworks Climbing is a place I would still like to continue to bring my business too. Not impressed by the poor customer service.

Let me start by saying I think the concept is great. However, the staff is seriously lacking. We were checked in by a young girl with long dark hair who was completely uninterested in providing service. We were basically left on our own as first time climbers to figure out the gear, and when she walked us onto the floor she only gave us the basics of information. I was able to glean a bit more information from another host at a later point who was assisting other guests, she explained how to read the tags on the walls etc. We ended our trip with my son falling and injuring his elbow. The staff member who came over seemed more interested in what form she needed to complete instead of the well-being of my child. My friend who stayed at the facility after we left go to the hospital learned that he was on a wall that was reserved for 14 and older, something we were never told. I take responsibility for not having better eye on my child, but I feel the facility has a responsibility to provide better directions to first time climbers.

This was the 2nd climbing gym Ive ever entered, (the first being a competitor a bit earlier in the day). The staff acknowledged us quickly, asked about what we were interested in, and offered to teach us to climb same day. I had a prior engagement, but really liked the cleanliness, friendliness of the staffers, and the variety of walls that I could see. SO we signed up for a class the following day. Our teacher, Abby, was personable, friendly, and very professional. The skills we learned were functional and made us both feel safe climbing together for the first time. Im super unfit, and still managed 3 full wall-climbs and a partial before I ended. My husband managed a few more than I did, and did a bit of bouldering as well. Walls have a lot of variety and there are quite a few rope placements, so the gym can accommodate a LOT of people. We will be back, once my lats quit complaining!
