I had the clutch on my 2011 Suzuki replaced by AAMCO. While there was some delay in AAMCO getting the right clutch (the wrong was was sent the fist time) everything worked out. The service adviser (Mark Gabriel) kept me fully informed of what was going on and any delays. They did quality work. Im very pleased with how everything went. Although Mark ended up having to pay more for the clutch he stuck to his original estimate. When test driving the car, Mark found problems with the brakes and fixed the issue (brakes were not properly secured) at not cost to me. I will use AAMCO again without hesitation.
While driving through State College with the dogs ...the transmission began to slip.Being hours away from home, I knew that Immediate attention was required if the truck was going to make it. Having had positive experiences with AAmco in the past, it was the first place I Googled. The expertise and professionalism of the staff at State College AAMCO went above and beyond to offer a quick repair that allowed us to get home safely that night. Many thanks to Josh and Mark for their understanding of the situation and offering the best solution to the problem.
Mark was great. Very professional and good to work with.
We took the car here to check out our transmission and see why it wasnt shifting right, which is clearly a transmission issue. They swore it was a tire issue, so we took it to a tire place. But, as we knew, the tire place confirmed it is in fact a transmission issue, so now were going to a different transmission shop. HUGE waste of time and ridiculous inability to do their job.
The owner and staff were very professional and informative and did great work on servicing the transmission. The owner allowed me to inspect the work and did a great job at explaining issues that needed addressed.
Great service! Dependable. Helpful.
I had a great experience at AAMCO. I was able to get my car serviced for a much cheaper price than I was quoted for at another repair shop in State College. Additionally, I received my car back in the time frame I requested. Josh and Brie were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend AAMCO to anyone and will be returning for future repairs.
Very professional and worked to fit my schedule will definitely be recommended 😀
Hello Everyone! I just want to say that AAMCO at State College garage are just awesome people. Very Knowledgeable, Super Customer Service Oriented and just plain Honest guys! I love working with them with all my cars and I will recommend them in a second!! They are the best.. Very Satisfied Customer.. They are always going to be my car repair shop!!! Thank you guys!!
AAMCO at State College agreed to installing a used part that I got from a third party. Turns out, the part I gave them did not work. Instead of letting me lose the money on the labor and taking advantage of me, the team at AAMCO did everything in their power to give me back a working car. Although the situation took almost 2 months, the team ended up saving me a couple thousand dollars in future repairs by replacing my suspension for an extremely fair deal. Josh and the mechanics at his shop strive to fair. Not a quality observed from most mechanics.
I have been there twice in the last 2 weeks, and have been totally satisfied. Josh, the GM, has been great. Pricing is upfront, turnaround time for the repair/replacing of parts is very quick, and the work has been excellent.I own a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid with approximately 130,000 miles. I tried to get the local Toyota dealer to change the transmission fluid at 120,000 miles, and was totally blown off with the representative there telling me, Its a lifetime transmission fluid. Youre wasting your money; well do it if you really want us to, but it would be a waste. So, I sent a sample to Blackstone Laboratories, and they sent back the results. The results said that there was a high level of certain Metals in the transmission fluid. It wasnt from damage from the transmission itself, it was just the fact that the fluid had been in the car for so long, that it was building up these metals. So, no, Toyota, it is not a lifetime fluid. Only the lifetime of the warranty. If you other customers want to keep your car running longer, get the transmission fluid changed. So, I asked Josh at Aamco, if I bought the correct transmission fluid, would they go ahead and do 3 drain and fills for my car. Without hesitation, Josh gave me a price, and a time, and I had the car finished in less time than what we thought it would take. My car is running much smoother, and then 2 weeks later, I had my spark plugs changed. My gas mileage went from 35 miles per gallon, to 42 miles per gallon. The spark plugs had not been changed since I had purchased the car at 55000 miles. They made a great difference.I highly recommend Aamco to those looking for a fair price, and guys who know what they are doing. I will be back to do business with them.
Joshoa very helpful person
I had pretty bad transmission leak . I went to ( 2 ) two other places for service and they turned me down for help . So I called AAMCO and told them of my problem . The guy I talked to on the phone was incredible, he told me to come into the garage ASAP which I did . I had told them that I had an appointment in 90 minutes . These guy worked very hard to accommodate me . They assured me they would be finished in time for me to make it to my appointment ... and I was there on time . I highly recommend AAMCO in State College, Pa . These guys were very helpful, and professional . They helped me when two other places turned me down . If you are experiencing a car problem, I highly suggest you call these guys . I am sure they will do their very best to help you out !!! THANK YOU Josh & Tom !!!
Ive had both inspections and repairs done here. Theyre really communicative and clear about the work theyre doing, and the costs associated. You always feel in the loop, and are never surprised by any unexpected costs. Solid shop with friendly people.
I have been going to see Bob for a few years now, and he showed again why he not only warrants my business, but earns it. The time he takes to make sure i get the best service, for the best price is truly a service in and of itself.I would recommend going to him to anyone who is having any type of trouble, especially transmission trouble. In todays world, it is hard to find someone who means what they say, and back it up completely. Bob and his team does just that!
Was told to be there the other day then got pushed back until today never checked out why my car was making a noise up front when thats why I took it back
My daughter is a student athlete at Penn State and we reside in Atlanta, GA. The first time she had troubles with her vehicle we thought it was related to a transmission that we just had replaced at AAMCO in GA. From our first conversation with Bob, my husband and I knew that our daughter and her car was in good hands. It is truly hard to find good honest folk in the repair business, especially when you are 15 hours away and all communication is being done via telephone, email, and fax. Thanks to Bob and all the AAMCO staff. You all have been wonderful.. I would most definitely recommend your services to any and everyone. May God continue to bless your business.
In my many years of living in State College, I can honestly say I was happy when I left AAMCO. The staff was extremely friendly & honest. Not trying to talk me into things I didnt need. I have a 2001 Audi and there is no stick to check the transmission fluid. so, it has to go up on a lift so the mechanic can get to it. When it was finished, he came out. I pulled out my visa card sweating, heart racing waiting to hear what the damage was going to be. The man told me your transmission fluid was very low so we filled it up. We took it for a ride and it seems fine now. I said how much ? He said Theres no charge. I almost fell over ! That was my story of my first time NOT getting ripped off at a garage in State College in 17years. I will be a faithful customer. ; ) Lisa J. Rattie
They took my car for a rebuild and rather then the week they said it would take, it took 4 weeks. Delays were blamed on snow storms and UPS not able to deliver, we had truckloads of computers delivered by UPS. Storm did not seem to affect that. In the end they did the repair and it drove nice except for some smells. After I came in because of a smell of burning fluid while driving the next day. I was told it was the cleaning fluid they used to clean up the parts of the car they were working on and it would burn off. After another week of smelling burning fluid the guys doing an oil change at another store told me the gear box was covered in oil. I went straight over, told them there was a leak. I was dressed down for listening to the people at that shop that they always said stuff like that, and that they could not put it on a lift because their shop was full of cars waiting parts, UPS was late again. After saying that my failure to report a leak could void my warranty, they sent someone under the car after jacking it up and found a plug on the gear box was not fully tightened. I reminded that that I had been in and the smell I had smelled was blown off by them. Should have trusted my gut.
Super convenient and user-friendly. This was the first inspection where the shop didnt find a problem with my car, which subsequently cost me more money. They seem very trustworthy, which reinforces their exceptionally high ratings. I will return to them for future service!
I got my first exposure to Bob and the team at the State College AAMCO a little over a year ago when I took my truck in for them to look at my transmission. From the very first phone call they were open and honest explaining what the possible scenarios were and how they would approach each. When I dropped the truck off they were pleasant, professional and did exactly what they said they were going to do. In the end they came back to me with my options and clearly laid out the pros and cons of each and together, we selected an option that provided me with a quality solution and saved me a few bucks at the same time. Recently I went back to have brake work done and had the same experience, they did excellent work while providing me cost savings options. Bottom line is that I have always hated dealing with auto mechanics because I never felt like I was getting the whole picture or that they were looking out for my best interests, but these guys ARE GREAT! Another example; I have only been there twice and just last week I called in the evening not knowing if they were even open to make another appointment. The phone call got forwarded to a cellphone so I knew they were closed and I hung up. Literally minutes later I get a text on my cellphone saying: Hey Dorsey (yes, he knew who was calling) this is Bob from AAMCO Im sorry I couldnt take your call but I am in a board meeting and i will call you when I get out. Whens the last time your mechanic did that? Again, they have developed a long term customer with me and I highly recommend them to anyone needing work done, thank you Bob and the State College AAMCO team!
We had a used transmission installed in our 2000 Subaru outback. This shop is 1st class from start to finish. Diana keeps you updated also. Very quick turn around also. Thank you again.
If you have issues with your vehicle, I can say with confidence, take your car to Bob at AAMCO and he will take care of you. He treats your car like it was his own. And let me tell you, Bob knows customer service! Youll wish you found him sooner.
Diane and John were very helpful when I was buying a new car, giving advice on what to do (and not to do) as well as inspecting our prospective purchases. Great service!
I took my car here after another car company told me I needed all these various parts in order to even change the tire on my car that they put on in the first place! Aamco was able to get the tire off without all these needed parts that the other car company told me I needed for NO CHARGE! This is why I get second opinions & this is the way I expect car service to be. If I actually need something, please do it! I have been going back to them ever since for routine maintenance & they have been very reasonably priced.
They honestly told me that there is nothing to repair in my car (the car has been bought recently and I wasnt sure about the compressor and a/c system). I paid nothing for the basic check. I recommend this mechanic.
Used this AMMCO location last year as my Son broke down at school. They did excellent job of meeting my son at school parking lot and towing car. I was very happy with them as they were fair in pricing and very helpful in every aspect.
Very professional, great communication BEFORE any work was done.Very reasonable rates...... highly recommend!!!!
These guys are honest and awesome! So happy with my service!
I took my 2007 VW Passat in to get a tune up and transmission service. I got a call from the shop a couple hours later said my bill would be 1200.00 some odd dollars. I asked why so much? I was told it needed a vacum pump which was very expensive over 750.00 I then asked is this a OEM Part from VW? I was told no it was from their distributor. I was dumb founded at the price I initially agreed and hung up. I then looked on line there were multiple vacuum pumps for my car from 212.00 to 260.00. I then call VW State College who priced a new OEM VW Vacuum Pump for 380.00. So I called the shop back asked them why their part was so much more I was told they have to mark up the part to make a profit! I asked 400.00 mark up profit!! I was told no their supplier charges them 650.00 for the part. I told them no thank you picked up the car took it to VW. Never Again. Rip Off.
Took my 2011 Chevy Silverado in there they told me it would be a free check. My truck was shifting weird. I have a bully dog tuner which cause a malfunction. They called me and told me that my transmission was bad and it had metal shavings in the transmission. I went and picked my truck up took it down the road to another shop and they took 1and a half hours and called me back after they reset my computer and uninstalled the chip. The transmission was working perfectly fine and they told me they don’t even know how ammco saw metal shavings. 10/10 wouldn’t recommend!!!! It’s been a week after if got it out of the second shop I took it to and my truck is running great
First of all, great immidiate assistance. I was stressing out about my overheated car, but they quickly identified the problem and assured me they had the solution. One Day later my car had a brand new radiator and has not overheated since.I love AAMCO, they are life savers. I recomend them if anyone ever has any car trouble and you need to get it fixed fast, efficiently, and at a great price.Thank you AAMCOJorge.
I took my car in to have it looked at because I had water leaking in the floor in the drivers side. I actually had this problem for years, but to be honest I have never trusted mechanics to not rip me off so i never took it anywhere. The problem became so bad that I couldnt take it any more and since AAMCo offered free diagnosis I decided to bite the bullet and try. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, not only did they not change me to look at it, they fixed it before lunch time and gave me a ride to work that morning when I dropped my car off. I Think I finally found a place I trust. Great job AAMCO!!! :)
Updated: lesson learned, trust your gut. The first visit when they got brake fluid on my head liner, I wrote it off as an easy mistake for a tech to make. The second visit, I was perturbed by how pushy they were being putting a specific (mediocre) brand of part on my car. Third visit was just too pushy, so I just left and...it turns out it was a come back. The noise I heard in the front was from aamco not tightening up the lug nuts! Three on drivers side wheel and two on the passenger. Be warned!
I can see why they have gotten so many high reviews. At face value they seem very friendly, honest and personable. This is all a sham. I recently brought my car to aamco. After 1300 dollars and a week and a half of waiting, I finally got the call that my car was finished. When I went to pick up my car, I noticed that there was a large gouge in the plastic front bumper. The gouge was through the paint about 1/16 of an inch deep, 1/4 inch wide, and 2 inches long (white was very obviouse against the dark blue paint). There was also red paint (snap on/ craftsman toolbox red) in the gouge. This is a brand new bumper and was otherwise spotless. When I brought this to the attention of the woman at the front desk, she immideiatly went on the defense, called me a liar, and tried to intimidate me with her crew by demanding that I accuse them of damaging my car to their face. Which I did, and obviously all denied any wrongdoing. After going back and forth for a while it became obvious that these people have no shame, and were not going to act as adults and take responsibility for the damage they caused to my car. After spending 1300 dollars on my transmission, I cannot afford the deductible to have my bumper repaired. On a side note, the work they did on my transmission seems to be fine almost a month later. If youre willing to risk having your car damaged, and then being accused of being a liar, its probably not a bad place to have repairs done.
BEST place i have ever taken any of my cars!
Diane is an absolute delight to work with. Friendly and knowledgeable.
Will never take my car anywhere else. Best shop in PA.
I have 1997 Accura (old car but woking good), I had a problem and the right hand axle shaft must be repplace. I asked three different shops in SC to fix it but they could not remove the shaft and put a new one. AAMCO in state college fixed this problem.Another problem that i faced with my car was the engine was not igniting when i turned the keys. Again, many places could not diagnose the car properly. But, AAMCO find the problem and fixed. The problem was the bad relay which controls the injection system. Therefore, i really suggest AAMCO in SC if you have problems with your car.
Very helpful people, they didn’t end up charging me for the service which was very appreciated! Thank you guys!
My sons car was stuck and towed to a shop and they were horrible and had it for 6 weeks and still didnt run I had it towed to aamco and they were great I felt like it was one of my friends working there how they treated me and helped and did it all over the phone they fixed my car and went above and behond and also helped with other work that they dont normally do in the shop I was greatful there are st still honest and heplful people in this world I would diffently recommend aamco in state collage pa to anyone that needs car work
(Im reposting my original review because I see it on my Google pg but not theirs...just want to be sure they get the credit they deserve!)Ive been to Aamco on E. College Ave a few times - to get my annual inspection, for an oil change, because my trunk seemed broken. Each time Ive been there has been a great experience. They tell me what needs fixed, & more importantly, when there are fixes I can do myself! That kind of customer service is hard to come by, and its truly appreciated. Everyone there is friendly and answers my questions/issues without getting annoyed at my insufficient knowledge of car care. I would & do recommend Bob & his Aamco facility to everyone! If you live in the State College area and have a vehicle with wheels, go see Bob at Aamco.
Go elsewhere. You will probably regret going to this shop.
Very helpful and honest guys
Friendly people and GREAT service.
I called and told them what was wrong with my truck, Brought it in after being told they could get it done, Only to find out they do not rebuild transmissions in house, The only reason I took my truck there in the first place, Still waiting on an update but I’ll update this review when I have more information
Good.
