About a month ago, Rosebud, my 70-lb, 10 year-old female pit bull mix got attacked by my foster dog. She had several large lacerations that I knew would need to be sutured or stapled, so I took her to Animal Emergency of Hernando. Most people are scared of pit bulls, but the staff and vet treated Rosebud like the sweet soul she is! Given how busy they were, their service was quick and compassionate. Dr. Palacios was wonderful with my sweet Rosebud, even considering age and temperament in how she treated my pup. They were able to ease her pain with medication, clean the wounds, and then staple everything closed. They didnt even have to sedate her which I was worried about because of her age! The last time another dog attacked Rosebud and she needed sutures, the emergency bill was over $1000, but my bill was less than $300 at Animal Emergency of Hernando. I just want to say how much I appreciate being able to have my dog treated at an affordable price. What a service to our community! I thank all of you that work at Animal Emergency of Hernando!
Everyone was caring and compassionate. The vet was wonderful. She was honest about what our options were and explained them. Even though there was nothing they could do for our cat Misty, they made sure she was comfortable and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye. If we ever have another pet emergency, we will definitely use them again. Thanks again for the wonderful service, care, support, and kindness you showed us at such a difficult time.
Our heartfelt thanks to the Animal Emergency of Hernando and all the wonderful doctors and technicians who helped save our dog. Two weeks ago we brought him in and he needed emergency surgery. Dr. Stone was amazing and she explained everything to us. The techs were friendly and empathetic. The cost was fair and affordable. I would always feel confident to use them in the future for any of our pets if needed
The worst place. No communication.I was the 3/4th person in and sat in the waiting room for 2 hours and then finally made it into a room. I then waited another 1/2 hour before I decided enough was enough. No one there seemed to care and sitting in there for 2.5 hours is miserable when no one is keeping you updated with anything. They don’t seem to have any sense of urgency or compassion for people or animals. This area needs an emergency vet place that actually has people there who can help.
I called for pricing and information prior to going. They were knowledgeable and helpful. I arrived and was promptly greeted with a smile even though they were short staffed like everyone now. I was put into a room within a reasonable time for an emergency care. The technician was very nice. The doctor came in, listened to my concerns and addressed them providing options. They tried a few different things prior to deciding she needed surgery, which I appreciated. The doctor was more concerned about treating my dog, exhausting all options, rather than money in her pocket. I would highly recommend this practice. The facility is clean, all the staff is knowledgeable, the doctors care and the prices are reasonable for an emergency vet. Thank you for saving my Scarlett and her 6 puppies (they all lived). You made a difference!
I went at 5pm and was home with our pup by 645pm. Everyone was so kind and helpful, fully explained everything before doing anything to her. They truly saved me a lot in many ways today, our pup is back to her normal happy bouncy self. We’re so grateful for Animal Emergency of Hernando and all their staff and doctor!
After being told to take our cat to the emergency vet we decided to take her to Animal Emergency of Hernando and let me tell you I am so glad we did. Our 5 yr old cat was vomiting and was getting weaker and weaker. The local vet was an absolute mess of a situation. Dr.Stone and the staff at this facility are absolutely amazing. We spent multiple days at the vets office, on and off, and each time we treated with nothing but kindness and respect. Our beloved kitty had to have two operations within days of each other. To anyone who knows this can be quite expensive. Dr.Stone worked with us 100%, caring more about the life of my precious baby than her pocket book. She could have given up when all seemed like it was not helping after her second surgery. Dr.Stone gave her all, trying everything she could and in the end it was more than we could have ever asked. Lemon is doing great. no vomit, eating healthy and soon able to be her sassy self again fully. Removal of the staples is even taken care of by a pop in visit and no cost. Most like to charge you for everything they can. I got nothing but professional and to the point with Dr.Stone. She cares for the wellbeing of the animal, not how the human feels it should happen. I have nothing but the utmost respect for this Doctor and her staff.
They truly care about animals and pet parents. I had to rush my 7yr old Dobie Nixxy for heart and lung issues. Turned out it was DCM and we had to put her down. They let me stay with her as long as I needed and even the lady we administered the euthanasia was choking up and tearing up. Great compassion and support. I love them!!
I thought I’d seen my cat with a sewing needle hanging out of his mouth and before I was able to get it out he swallowed it. I was able to get him over to the vet just before midnight. They verified the needle from an x-ray and immediately did surgery that went well. The new office is clean and much larger than the old office. Probably a little more expensive than my regular vet but that’s to be expected for after hours emergency services. I really appreciated their help.
Waited about 3 hours each time weve came here. friend of ours tried to help this lady out with her bill and the vet double billed her. they charged her 475$ when she only was meant to give 100$ SHE STATED MULTIPLE TIMES THAT SHE WAS ONLY GIVING 100$ TO THE BILL.... all they care about is money. also the big lady in the purple shirt doesnt know what shes doing.
Im forever grateful to this emergency center. My rescue dog had a bad infection from possibly drinking standing water or eating something contaminated. Weve had him for a few months and the visit really opened my eyes to how careful I really need to be. Not only was the staff kind, patient and QUICK so was the doctor. I also respect the honesty and bluntness from the doctor as well. So many pet owners are too sensitive and take honest advice, suggestions and recommendations as an attack. Its the staff and doctors job to make sure we are doing what were supposed to in order to properly care for our pets. Just like how pets need training sometimes so do we and we make mistakes, but if you really love your pet youll listen. Long story short, Ive been working long hours and have put off vaccinations for my rescue pup who is 6 months old. This was a Parvo scare and ended up coming back negative. Im very lucky and so is my little boy. Hes getting those overdue shots immediately and is home happy, and safe with the right medications thanks to this place. Seriously, thanks again!
Absolutely terrible! Went in at 10:30pm last night because my 6.5 week old puppy was weak and his sugars were low. Found out it he had a upper respiratory infection. They put a catheter on him, injected him some sugar and some antibiotics. Got sent home by the doctor with the catheter on just incase I have to rush him back, because apparently the puppy was fine and he would be back to normal in a couple of hours. Fast forward 6 hrs later. I constantly checked up on my puppy but this last time I checked on him, he was crying loudly. I picked him up to find him really weak, dried eyes and snout. I gave him water and then rushed him back to the E.R. He passed away on my arms as Im driving. I get to the E.R and one of ladies in the front desk was rude and snotty when I had asked her who do I need to speak to, because I was just here a couple of hours ago. Long story short, I was put in a room after they took my dead dog back. Waited an hour before they told me anything. They forgot I was completely there waiting in the room so I went back to the front desk and waited there. I have not spoke to anyone but the front desk lady. No doctors or nothing! She tells me she wishes she can tell me what went wrong or why he died because they didnt have an absolute answer. I will never ever return to this hell hole! I will speak to someone who is above everyone there to find an answer. I spent so much money in a matter of hours for my dog to die and they dont have an answer regarding his death after I was sent home and told he was ok?! I know its not going to bring my dog back but I deserve an answer on why he died!
This place is horrible. It makes me sick that I brought my cat here thinking they cared for animals and would help. My cat was 14, he lost a lot of weight, was having a hard time eating about 24hrs before bringing him in. The day we took him in his breathing was heavy and he was distant from us that day which was very unusual. Before the vet took him back, I was crouching down next to his carrier soothing him. He was crouching with his hair standing up because a dog was 5ft away. He had full use of his body. They told us they would put him on oxygen to see if we could stabilize his breathing. 10 minutes later we were asked to get x-rays and blood work, we agreed. We were brought to the back room in a rush, shown the x-rays of our cat (he was completely filled with tumors), and told he should be put down. We of course didnt want our guy to suffer, and reluctantly agreed. We thought taking him home to pass was inhumane at the time, not knowing that this place was in fact inhumane. Finally we were allowed to see our boy, who was paralyzed it seemed from a sedation they obviously had given him...which was NEVER asked by any staff nor vet there. We only realized he was given something because he was literally sprawled stretched out flopping over because he couldnt control his body. We werent asked if we wanted to see him before putting him down. We were not asked if we wanted to hold him or give him love one last time. We had to tell them thats what we were doing. We were in a huge operation room with multiple different animals. A dog was on a operating table 4ft behind us getting an ear sewn up. There was zero privacy. They gave us less than 2 minutes to say our goodbyes to our beloved Howie. We were ushered out and given a bill. I wish I would have taken the time to read reviews before bringing my cat here. These individuals are unprofessional, heartless, and cruel. Please find somewhere else if you want proper care for your loved one!!!
Been their twice. Little pricey, but its after hours. Got excellent care both times. Second time vet opted for a more conservative approach. Could have gone the other way,so I appreciate her honesty. We will continue to use this facility for Amy emergency.
Very thankful for this emergency hospital. Although there sometimes is a long wait, the staff is wonderful. They have cared for many of my pups ❤️ I would highly recommend them.
Dr. Stone and staff was amazing. They had a sense of For my injured dog. Thank you Dr Stone.
Great Service, professionalism & without me even being there they were able to give me directions on what procedure to do while on the phone, Thankyou for helping us with our miniature schnauzer Romeo once again
Dr. Wagner killed our dog.. I brought my 4 year old dog in bc he was lethargic, not eating and throwing up.. Dr. Wagner said his stomach was cramping and he had gastritis.. he gave him shots, an oral medication, and a pill and then told us not to give him any food or water until Thursday (it was Tuesday night).. we asked if he could have been dehydrated from being outside in the heat earlier, he flat out said no and was confident that it was stomach cramps and he would be fine in 24-48 hours.. the next afternoon we took our dog to his real vet for another opinion…. His vet said that he could not believe that he didn’t do blood work the night before or that he was not given an IV bc he was in fact dehydrated from the heat that day, like we asked this so called “dr”.. not only that, but the vet was shocked that we were told not to give him water bc that’s exactly what he needed, hydration…. Our vet stayed 2 hours after closing trying to help our boy, and then told us to bring him back to the emergency clinic to another dr that was on duty that night that they trusted (I forgot her name).. the clinic didn’t open until 5:30 so we had to bring our boy home for an hour while we waited, but he wasn’t looking good….. he ended up seizing and passing away in the car on the way back to the emergency clinic…… we trusted Dr. Wagner to help our fur-baby but instead he mis-diagnosed, mis-treated, and neglected him which ultimately lead to his death.. he gave us a quick guess so he could push us out the door so the next “check” could walk through.. If you love your pets, do not bring them here
Couple weeks ago I had emergency I took my cat here and he was blocked they fixed it even worked with me on the bill which was nice but after it was time to take the catheter out at my vet they struggled. Turns out the rubber catheter they used was bent in half. So my vet had to yank it out . He was still peeing blood when I got him home but my vet said it was fine then Monday I found him dead. I am so sad if they used different catheter he would still be alive today. He was only 4 yrs old I miss him so much I am not coming to this vet office anymore for emergency I willing to drive somewhere else for emergency
Excellent doctors and staff! Treated with kindness and respect throughout the whole process, the emergency pricing is more than fair.
Staff is super friendly. Hospital is very clean and organized. Dr. Stone was very thorough and a delight to work with. All pertinent information about continuity of care was communicated to our veterinarian. The care was very straightforward. The bill was reasonable. The facility ambassador will greet you and make u come back for some good purring.🐾🐱
MONEYMONEYMONEY! Thats all they care about! I’m very bad at standing up for myself and after talking to a few people I really wish I did, they basically made me get an unnecessary test done fo something she she has been vaccinated for and I made it clear she was vaccinated for! I asked if I could just take her to her regular vet for it and they said oh no we’ll do it today and just made me feel like I had no say. The test obviously came out negative but cost me around $200 extra, but of course what can I do since I stupidly signed the papers? Not only was that, but the vet was very rude because my PUPPY was barking at her in fear, she talked to me like I don’t know how to take care of her. Not happy at all with my experience!
Unfortunately have had to use their services more than once. Each time they have been honest and fair in theirs treatment and costs. Remember people this is a EMERGENCY vet.....
Would absolutely not suggest you bring your pet here. Brought our dog in at 0630 to a clearly irritated vet tech who told me “we’re usually discharging patients at this time but I guess we can see him.” He was having trouble breathing, it couldn’t wait. The vet was super flippant and focused on the fact that I said he didn’t eat breakfast and assumed he had an “upset tummy.” They sent us on our way. We knew he wasn’t ok so we took him to Blue Pearl. My dog had a PNEUMOTHORAX and needed emergency surgery. If the vet had taken 2 seconds to actually check him out she may have found that, but we were bothering them at closing time. It’s so disheartening and my poor dog still isn’t out of the woods.
EXCELLENT ANIMAL ER HOSPITAL!I traveled from South Florida to Hudson, FL (north of Tampa) for the Christmas holidays. I have a three-legged cat who I adopted a month after he lost his back leg (a large portion) from what was believed to be a car accident. Despite the accident and amputation happening almost two years ago, it left him with a serious bladder condition which is believed to be neurological in addition to damaging the nerve endings in his tail. The end result being his brain and bladder do not speak to each other, therefore, he relieves himself only once every 24 hours. I have to keep a close watch on him for this reason. I was at my sister’s home for less than 24 when I noticed my little guy had not urinated in close to 24 hours. No idea why, but we believe it was the stress of the traveling. In any case, we ended up at the Animal Emergency of Hernando on Christmas Eve night. The 24-hour mark is the danger zone for my cat. From my initial phone call to paying the bill, Dr. Stone and her staff were very kind, very patient, professional, and knowledgeable. They had a very busy evening ahead of them, and the waiting room was busy. I noticed upon check-in that the young woman who was manning the front desk was doing an excellent job, only to learn that she had been there a total of two weeks. She commanded that front desk, and with kindness and a smile. She proactively spoke with each patient in the waiting room to keep them updated as to when they would be next. My total wait time was approximately 45-minutes. The vet techs were just as lovely, as was Dr. Stone. They handled my Elijah with great care, even though he was obviously very stressed at this point, and nipped at Dr. Stone’s hand (sorry about that doc, this was a one-off for my Elijah).I assumed Dr. Stone would want to keep Elijah over night to insert a catheter, as this is always the plan when this happens. Instead, Dr. Stone did a much less invasive procedure which relieved my Elijah’s bladder. When the vet tech brought him back to me, it was as if he never had the problem! He was back to his pre-visit self, and was ready to go home. He took his medicine as directed, and has been urinating regularly. He’s been on medication for a week now, and as we taper off, he is settling back into his 24-hour relief with an occasional extra pee in between, which helps of course. The final bill was about half the cost of what I would have paid in South Florida or another ER vet where I am located.I highly recommend this ER hospital for all of your fur babies. The staff and Dr. Stone is excellent, and I thank them all for taking such good care of the feline and canine nation.By the way, you might be greeted by Christopher, the great, big, white feline who lives at AE of Hernando. The little guy is a talker, sweet, and he’s blind. We fell in love with him.
We took our yorkie Joey last night, the technician took him from my arms and brought him immediately to the doctor! He spent the night and ran several tests, found answers and we were so pleased! They saved our baby! Thank you so much! Best emergency place, doctor and staff in town!
Dr. Stone was amazing, I brought a stray kitten in and she was so so helpful with helping me treat her and her siblings with an affordable cost. I definitely recommend them, the staff was amazing and just made the whole experience so much better despite how worried I was for the kitten.
I brought in a dog I just rescued from a terrible situation because she was attacked by another dog. I ran in the building, blood all over my hands, clothes and arms, carrying my dog who was bleeding actively. A tech came to evaluate her, and since her gums were pink, she was allowed to wait in the waiting room. We waited quite a while, cleaning up blood off the floor constantly. My poor girl was so upset and in so much pain.We finally got in a room, a tech looked her over, and I was told the doctor would be in. Doc had an emergency surgery to do, so she said she had to be fast, and I was understanding. It seemed that the care lacked greatly because of the rush job. I was told my dog would be clipped and cleaned and given antibiotics. Okay, fine. When they took her finally, I heard her scream in pain from the back. They brought my dog out and explained the medicine and the tech said to cancel the medicine shes currently on to help with her heartworm treatment that starts this week. Okay, whatever. Ill ask my vet Monday morning how she wishes to proceed. I paid and left and wasnt super happy with anything. My dog is in pain. She cant jump on the bed, she cries when you pick her up. Why wasnt she given anything for pain? Shes trembling in pain and thankfully I have her on a regular dose of cbd to help her. This place is just disorganized and way understaffed.
Great service when they were on Deltona Boulevard very rude to me will never go back there again
Nice place super nice with our pet and very clean
Today was one of the saddest days for my family and I. We had to put our Sophie to rest. We knew it was coming, just wasnt ready for the day yet. I called after we made the decision and spoke with Jessica who was so professional and compassionate. She explained the process, dealt with my heavy sobbing and not so pleasant questions, so professionally. The experience was sad enough but they definitely made me feel safe and a little more okay with the process and very comforting. Allowed us all the time we needed to say our last goodbyes. In the end Sophie was comfortable and finally out of pain and in our arms the whole time. Thank you so much to each and every one of you! It meant the world to us.
This morning we had to take our Roxy to be put down,The staff was awesome, as you can imagine we were very sad. They were kind, caring and compassionate. I would recommend them for any pet needs.Sue Ostuni
This vet was great to me and my dog. Had to put him down unexpectedly they were so compassionate and caring. They made him comfortable and let me spend as much time as I needed before we sent him to doggy heaven. Thank you guys for that and the care you showed.
Brought my sons dog in because he couldnt urinate. He could only do drops. 2 hours later we saw the Vet and was told infection. Vet did perform exam. Vet said lets not look for something that might not be there but watch him for possible stones. The next day took him to Vet where xray was done showing stones. He had to be catherizde. Surgery is scheduled. So if stones might be suspected why didnt shedo xray? His bladder could have burst.
Our dog has been suffering from new seizures on and off the past two days, and I can’t explain how much of a help this place has been. They have taken her in and found any way to help her and make her comfortable, and have sat on the phone with us throughout the night whenever we have concerns or questions. They are very compassionate and helpful and do care about your animal. I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done.
We had to wait a while since there was an emergency (not that we were bothered to wait and we understood), but it was pretty quick once they got us in. They were understanding with my cats grouchiness (shes 16), and were able to get a urinalysis done. It wasnt very expensive at all, and I paid less/the same that I wouldve at an actual vets office. The staff was kind and the office is very small and cozy. Thank you!
We rescue wildlife and this is the place we bring the animals. They are outstanding and care about all lifes.
Wonderful caring staff. Dr. Stone was amazing and supportive.
I brought my cat in last night, thinking she had broken a tooth. After waiting about an hour and a half we finally got to the see the dr. I did not catch her name. She informed me that my cat had a massive tumor in her mouth. Its bad enough finding out that a an animal you love and care for has cancer, but they treated me like I was an animal abuser, and the worst pet mom ever. They were very uncaring, and she handled my cat as if she was a piece of rancid meat. They will NEVER EVER touch another animal I own!
Dr shrode and Dr stone are the best....kind, caring and excellent Drs. The staff is super. I have gone there over the past 13 years. Most recently, I took my pet to be saved from disastrous care she received elsewhere. They tried extraordinary means to save my sweet pet. They really really were amazing.
Terrible service. I waited over an hour for the doctor to treat my dehydrated dog. On the phone they said it would be$72 to keep the dog on I V overnight. A bill for over $770 came before we agreed to treatment. They fought and said we owed them for the free assessment. I said no and they banned me for life from the property. And they tried to keep our dog for more than half an hour after the dispute, refusing to immediately produce our dog until we threatened to call 911. The nurses and doctor werent respecting covid-19 protocols. No mask. Even after a vaccine, covid-19 spreads. I have not been vaccinated. Andrew Devere
I called this vet to tell them I am on my way with my dog that is having trouble breathing and that he has congestive heart failure. I ask them should I call them when I arrive and I was told no just come on in. When I got there all the doors where locked. I was banging on the door while my dog was literally dying. Someone did come to the door after all the banging. They took my dog back to be put on oxygen. The vet came in and she never introduced herself. Told me my dog will most likely not last very much longer. She was not friendly at all and no compassion what so ever. I just moved to the area and this emergency vet was the closest to my home. Still 40 min. away. This was the 1st time I had been to this vet. It will definitely be my last. Not a good experience at all.
My fur baby was in dire straits. Dr Jax quickly diagnosed her and developed a treatment plan. She did surgery that night and we picked her up in the morning. A few days later she was refusing to eat so we brought her back and Dr Stone showed me how to feed her and get her medicine in her. They were all wonderful! Without them she would’ve died. I highly recommend Dr Stone and Dr Jax and their crew. Reasonable prices for emergency work too!
Waited a while but..well worth it!! Super sweet and emotional staff!! They GENUINELY CARED ABOUT NOT ONLY MY PET...BUT..MY FEELINGS AS WELL!!! also I got small discount off my bill due to my situation!!
Waiting time was a bit long. Besides that....everyone was WONDERFUL. doctors, nurse, secretary. All of them. They were honest, worked with us, and were friendly...even when they were busy. I hope they know how much they help people and their pets.
Dr. Stone is fantastic! We can’t thank her enough for her swift action to saving my babies life. She didn’t hesitate with knowing she had to go in surgically to take a look. My Flashy had twisted intestines and I believe that if my Lashy would have been anywhere else, we would have lost our baby due to “waiting” another day. She took out about 12 inches of intestines and my baby is doing good so far. Can’t say enough good things about Dr. Stone, she has saved my Flashy Twice now with 2 emergency surgeries. Chene Wynn and Staff are fabulous too! Thank you guys! To all the people who complain about their wait time, get over it. These people work hard to save our precious babies!
I took my cat to the vet this past Friday due to non-weight bearing status on his right front leg. Frustrated this morning because he was worse (not better) after the treatment he received Friday,, I decided to go to Animal Emergency of Hernando. I can’t say enough positive things about my experience from my first phone call this morning, the entire staff, my experience with Dr. Stone (who was fantastic), up to paying my bill. My cat is older and very sensitive to medications snd he is also not the best patient! Dr Stone listened carefully to his history and took her time giving him a thorough examination before she did x-rays. She explained everything thoroughly and was careful to adjust the medication she prescribed even adjusting her choice based on my feedback. It was apparent Dr Stone truly cared about giving Sandy the best outcome she could despite having a room fall of patients waiting to see her.
Giving them a star is too much I took my dog there because she was lethargic and feeling very weak well they did bld work & gave her 2 1/2 bags of IV and then told me that it seems that she’s having problems with her kidneys & that tomorrow morning I would have to pick her up at 7 o’clock in the morning and that I was to drop her off at her our vet they did not tell me anything else about how she was doing other than she was depressed & that I might have to decide what to do with her if she doesn’t get any better they really have no feelings for these furry animals all they care is about the money the next thing I get is a bill of $700.00 -NO COMPASSION !!!My vet gave me so much information and did so much more comparing to this place. At least it would have been nicer if they had some type if compassion towards my dog !
Pathetic. Waited 1 1/2 hours and I had to leave due to I have chronic pain, which I told them. Went back later after they told me no one in waiting room. 2 hours later still no doctor.Taking my yorkie to regular vet.
Dr Stone and Staff were great when I took my pregnant girl there at 1am after she was contracting for a couple of hours and no puppies. I highly recommend!! Thank You 🐾🐾🐾
My experience with the doctor and her staff was wonderful. At this time, theyre taking care of my cat who is very sick and it is critical. Earlier in the day, I took my cat to its primary doctor & there seemed to be so many uncertainties and my tears could have filled up a lake. But when I took him to the emergency after care center, they help me understand what was going on. I came home without him because he is getting treated and cared for by this wonderful doctor and her great team, Less tears were shed.. I am very grateful they are taking care of my fur baby!
The Doctor said my dog shouldn’t survive more then 3 months and she has a small heart. Took my dog to her regular vet and her heart is perfectly fine, she had excess fluid in her chest from having to much sodium which is resolved now. Paid nearly 600 to tell me false information.. don’t take their word go get a second look. Area was cold and they lacked empathy. Worst experience ever and not going again
I had to put my littlest Chihuahua to sleep yesterday. I appreciate everyones help and kindness yesterday. It was a long trip but I am glad I went there these women are kind and gentle. They have a difficult job but they do it with heart.Thanx to you all.
Very nice office. Professional staff. Great to have an emergency vet in Spring Hill
Dr stone did a great job stitching up one of my girls. A neighbors aggressive dog tried to pull her through a fence when she was being friendly and left a slice through her ear over an inch long. She was able to read the dog well, could tell when it my girl didnt mind having the work done, so we were able to do it all with her awake and just numbed up to reduce risks and costs. My girl loved her and her staff. Stitch work even in a tight area was very well done, and my girl healed up nicely. This is the only emergency care place ive found that is very reasonable on after hours work. theyve handled my late night emergencies a few times over the years, and were always reasonable with pricing. You expect to pay a little more on nights and weekends, but theirs is only a small increase which feels very fair for the late night work. They really seem to care for the animals first and just charge fairly to keep themselves in business.
I experienced Dr. Fernandez last night as I took my dog in for stomach pains, and it was not a good experience. He was extremely condescending, non Compassionate, and unprofessional. Never had a more terrible, vet trip before. I could hear him in the back talking to the vet tech about me, which made me feel very uncomfortable.I was Also the only person there and waited in the room for 10 mins before he came in, which was confusing to me because its an emergency clinic and I think there should be a sense of urgency to see your patients. I would understand if there was other people being seen but it was 3:30 am and my dog and I were the only ones there.I would not recommend taking your animal here, especially If Dr. Fernandez is working.
I arrived with my dog on a Friday evening. Her face and throat were severely swollen and painful and she had shallow breathing due to a runny nose from an allergic reaction to an insect bite/sting. They were quick, efficient, and very kind and attentive. Made a bad situation better and followed up quickly with advice on first aid should this ever happen in the future. Thank you. Ruby is resting and doing fine.
I am so thankful for Dr. Stone and her staff. Dr. Stone did everything in her power to treat my cat for a terminal illness that was only discovered through her thorough examinations. Sadly, he only lived 2 weeks after this, but because of the attentiveness of her and staff, I was given extra time with my little guy. My cat required two trips daily to have his medication administered by her staff and they were always so helpful. I know Dr. Stone went above and beyond for my cat and I can’t thank her enough for the extra time I was given with him because of her care. Thank you to Dr. Stone and all the staff at Animal Emergency of Hernando, keep up the great work you do for our precious fur babies.
These people will let your pet die. you made me wait 30 minutes after we called twice ahead. you could see me and my dog in clear distress. thanks for not only taking $700 from me but taking away my priceless best friend for the past four years. you knew she wouldn’t make it. didn’t you.
So sad I was just there my cat was attacked by a coyote this am no one came out we were there for over 10 m rang bell we left and our at Kind Animal Clinic our poor cat was taken immediately..I understand there may be another emergency going on, however you need a receptionist to be on to let patients know your not available! I would never come here again !
Ive been here a few times for a few minor emergencies with my dogs, (each time us and fur baby treated amazingly) recently we brought in our puppy, she spent a few nights with them (day time at vet) and I could never express how thankful we are to have had you take her under your care. This place truly cares, and only wants what is best for your pet. They are amazing.- Dr Fernandez, Dr Stone, and rest of team at Animal Emergency of Hernando, thank you so much for all you did for us and all that you do.Pennys Parents (Larissa&Frank)
Please, if you want your pet to live you NEED to make the drive to the University of Florida Gainesville Small Animal Emergency. The reviews here are correct. I was gullible enough to put my trust in these people. I believed that they would use their education and their oath to provide adequate care. For two days my dog was dying in the Animal Emergency of Hernandos care. He had NO pain medication and was treated for HGE and pancreatitis, which he did not have. After 2 days of my own research I asked if the vets had done an x-ray or a lipase test. Literally, this test is the first thing you are supposed to do when diagnosing an animal with pancreatitis. She said she had not tested him. I told her to run the test, within minutes she said that my dog did not have pancreatitis. His lipase was normal. With my dog steadily falling more into shock Dr. Sharon Stone continued to pump my dog full of fluids.Someone took pity of us and told us to go to The University of Florida Gainesville Small Animal Emergency.Upon presentation at UF my dog was nearly dead. It only took 15-20 minutes to find out he needed IMMEDIATE surgery. And they called in their surgical team during our 2am arrival. Our dog had over 2 liters of fluid Dr. Stone had pumped into him sloshing around his abdominal cavity, spreading sepsis from a perforated intestine all throughout his body. A 2 liter bottle worth of bacteria and infection, was drained from his abdomen! He then needed a 3 hour surgery to repair his intestines.Dr. Stone, you let my dying dog lay in a pile of his own vomit and diarrhea for two days while in the most unimaginable pain!He was in a metal cage with no padding and no pain meds. You and your techs tried to shove food down his throat while he was dying from a perforated intestine. So insanely cruel and painful! You laughed as he used the last of his strength to try to get away from the food you were shoving at him as he vomited. You said Hes on 3 different anti-nausea medications he shouldnt still be vomiting.I begged you Dr. Stone. I said, If this was your dog, what would you do? Since you obviously couldnt figure out why the fluid you pumped into him went straight to abdominal cavity, he was in shock, and sick. Dr. Stone had the snarky response Ha, if he were my dog, Id take him home, Im a vet. Hehehe. You know what Dr. Stone? If he were your dog, hed be dead in your house.Dr. Stone eventually rattled off a few names of local vets that she knew didnt have the diagnostics or surgeons available for what the dog needed. Why would you do that Dr. Stone? Seriously, why wouldnt you offer useful information? I begged you for any information on where I could take him.He needed surgery and your clinic didt do the basic tests to get a diagnostic for what you were treating him for. You treated him for a condition he did not have and made everything so much worse. Do you and your staff delight in seeing animals in pain? Or are you and your staff so incompetent that you did not notice? Either way, shame on all of you!You know what? My dog is alive and healthy. He survived the surgery and 4 day recovery in ICU with a 68% chance of mortality. His odds would have been better if he never stayed in the Hernando Animal Emergency Hell Hole. My dog had me advocating for him, asking the right information, finding the answers ourselves. Asking for the simple diagnostic test of lipase for pancreatitis. Our dog still has scabs on his elbows 2 weeks after his 2 day stay with you. The scabs are from shaking and convulsing in a metal cage for those 2 days of torture.Animal Emergency of Hernando simply hook your pet up to fluids and hope your pet survives until they can dump you with your regular vet. When there is a real emergency, go somewhere with the proper diagnostics teams, pathologists, surgeons, and care.
One star is entirely too generous for lack of respect & professionalism. We took our baby to be put down & asked by techs to leave the room to insert IV. Waiting just outside the door, we hear multiple giggles in the room where our best friend was trembling in pain & fear just moments away from his expiration. Ive never been so repulsed & disgusted by supposed professionals. Incredibly disrespectful!Afterwards the tech was notified of a typo & still neglected to correct it. As a result, his cremation certificate was sent with the wrong family name. When calling to discuss our awful & extremely offensive experience, we only got an apology. Instead of being offered compensation, we had to ask for a refund & were told we would received one. A week later we find we were refunded a measly 20% & still charged for the IV that was inserted by the heartless giggling techs. We called to question this & got hung up on. Hours later we were called & rudely told that the laughter came from a client & a tech in the lobby, not from the exam room. (So now weve been called liars too.) When we were asked to leave the exam room, where we stood a foot away from the closed door listening to the giggling, we were also in FULL VIEW of the EMPTY lobby & EMPTY front desk at about 3:30AM. She proceeded to tell us we are just over reacting because of our loss.In all reality, we were upset that our dogs demise & our bereavement was evidently all just a joke to her & a funnier joke to her staff. Our hardest moment was made so much harder by this establishments absolute abhorrent & heinous behavior!
I wish I was leaving this review under better circumstances; sadly, our Great Dane mix, Bibi, had a sudden and emergent case of twisted stomach. I have never gone through this before, but knew that she needed to see a doctor immediately. I called and they took us right in. Unfortunately, Bibi passed away soon after we got there, before Dr. Stone could even give her the shot to ease Bibis suffering. I appreciate Dr. Stones direct way of communicating; she examined Bibi and immediately diagnosed the problem and said that she was too far along to be a surgical candidate and that we should allow Bibis suffering to end. I obviously agreed because it was awful to see our beloved pet suffering. I also want to thank Debbie who was the assistant on call last night - she was so kind and helpful. During such an awful time, it helps to know that these professionals are there.
They saved my dogs Life but they lack in a bedside manner towards humans but really I cannot blame them with the things they see daily its most likely disturbing. Some of them are very sweet but I got a dirty look from a few of them because I called most likely too much because I was terrified my dog was going to become withdrawn again like when I rescued her. She was withdrawn when I got her back but that is not their fault. I called when I was told to call but I think they lacked in communicating to others and I was hung up on and I know who did it but I remained civil because I wanted to get my dog. My Vet that sent me there called to check up on Mandy where the emergency place did not even bother which did bother me since I paid out almost 2,000.00 for surgery. Although on a good note when I brought her home she threw up and they had me bring her back for a shot and a prescription they had filled out for her but on a bad note I am missing a prescription I brought to them from my other vet that I paid for and they have no idea where it went. But they are very busy saving lives and they cannot save them all and many are attacking them for not being able to. Grieving your animals death is one thing but blaming them for something we could have prevented is another thing.
We found a dog who was lost all day in the hot sun and we took him here and they said they could not take him to get checked. We don’t know why...but we said we found a dog and he needs help (he has something wrong with his legs and eyes) and they denied helping this poor dog.
Dr. Fernandez and Dr. Stones team saved our dogs life. He was suffering from HGE with very high Red blood cell count - so high he was in critical condition. Overnight they were able to bring him back. Their customer service, communication, and prices were all very good. I literally couldn’t be any happier. My boy is still here with us today. We are thrilled.
I had an extremely unpleasant experience. Long wait, poor communication, indifferent staff and the vet was rude. I will drive to Tampa if I ever need urgent veterinary care again.
I have been going to Animal Emergency of Hernando for years now, and have been in quite often here recently with my cat who is in renal failure. Dr.Stone and staff are very professional and caring. So if you were ask to leave Shelley Gardiner then It was for a very good reason! You had to be a real B***h to have pushed them to that out come!
Always takes care of our emergency needs any hour of the night! So grateful for their excellent care!
Took my pug here a few times and saw Dr Fernandez. The staff care very much, are personable and very patient. Im very grateful! I just wish Dr Fernandez had his own practice because its so hard to find a vet who isnt a sales rep.
The most caring and helpful emergency clinic. Highly recommend if youre in need.Edit: Still an awesome place! The people there are caring not only about the animals but the owners too. They were considerate of our wishes and needs and provided transparency and available options throughout the entire ordeal. I can tell the animals in their care are treated as their own loved and worried over and you always need that in a time of need.
Took awesome care of our dog, vet and staff were great!
Great customer service and very professional. They treated us very good and were very gentle with our senior cat. We would go there again.
Our 6 month old puppy got bit in the face late at night and needed to be sedated, and stitched up. Virtually no wait. Very informative friendly staff. Vet did amazing job and took wonderful care of our baby. Tech spent time to educate us on her after care. Extremely reasonable priced! We are very very happy with the level of care and compassion we received.
The lack of professionalism and compassion shown to my friends by the employees here is disgraceful. Having to say goodbye to a member of your family is hard enough, you shouldnt have to deal with ridicule and immaturity of the staff while doing so. Dont come here, you and your fur babies shouldnt have to put up with it.
Our pug Annie hurt herself at 4:00pm one weekday and we called our vets office and they told us to take to the Emergency vet on Deltona. They didn’t want to be bothered with it at the late hour I guess. The Emergency clinic was wonderful and took great care of her. The Dr. And her staff were terrific and compassionate. I will use them again.
They are very rude and very unprofessional let me go back to the back with other dieing animals no help i had to call the cops to get to leave then i get accusations of lieing when i never did terrible experience will never go back i will pay them but nevee again
They have helped me so many times with my dogs. Always helpful and I will go back when it’s necessary.
Dont talk to others in waiting room sharing your pet stories! Because the will accuse you of giving medical advice then proceed to refuse caring for your pet emergency.!! Very unprofessional!!
We had a problem with our cat, Miguel. We took him to Dr Stone. She held our hand through the process give us updates every five minutes. Unfortunately he couldn’t be saved. They euthanized him with caring and compassion. The entire staff was very caring and matter of fact about it. They put him into a burial box so we were able to take him home and bury him in the backyard. Although we are grieving, we have no regrets. It was his time and they let us reach that conclusion with out any pressure. I highly recommend them
Took old Petey in, crying with pain, at 0400 to be euthanized. He was blind, had bad teeth, septic arthritis from the teeth, congestive heart failure, 18 years old, it was past time. We’d extended his life thanks to Dr Pierce at San Francis an extra two years. Dr Hernandez I have to say, is the kindest vet I ever met. I am so grateful he was on duty. He let me pet him as he drew his last breaths. Petey was relaxed and at peace. The last dog I put down at an emergency vet in Maryland was a bad experience. They wouldn’t let me be with Maggie, I don’t know if she struggled. They shook me down for a physical exam fee in addition to euthanizing wanting to perform tests “to be sure” it was the end. The old greyhound had terrible arthritis, her vet working with me over the years had already ‘done everything’.Everybody is disgruntled with bad outcomes, and they have the internet to exact revenge. I recommend this place. A sad event but a peaceful outcome.
I don’t know how this vet graduated veterinary school she seems to be all about the money and not about caring for animals at all. Ask about how many pets they actually save vs ones that die.. They won’t tell you because the mortality rate is higher than it should be if they had a knowledgeable vet and staff maybe pets would get the care they need. I’d avoid this place at all costs
If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation with your animal, please consider going elsewhere. A family friend of mine brought his cat in a couple weeks ago to have an emergency surgery. After the surgery he noticed her ear was getting crusty and something was wrong. He took her to his regular vet and they provided an ointment. The ointment didnt help and her ear kept getting worse. He brought her back to his vet yesterday and they believe the emergency vet began to snip her ear during surgery (this is done to feral cats when they are being fixed). Now her ear is rotting off and theres nothing that can be done, she is going to lose the tip of her ear. When he reached out to the emergency vet they denied any responsibility and told him that they dont even do ear tipping there (which is a lie that we have confirmed with someone at a rescue group). We have also heard from someone else whos cats ear was accidentally snipped there. This place is poorly run, unorganized, and DISHONEST!!!!
Please ONLY GO TO THIS PALCE AS A LAST RESORT!!! My nine-week old puppy was seen there for chronic diarrhea, lethargy and dehydration. Upon arrival an exam was completed and a Fecal Test it was determined that he had Coccidia. He was given medication and sent home. Thankfully, I had a Vet appointment scheduled for the following Monday. During that visit an exam was also completed as well as another fecal exam. It was found that the puppy had Kennel Cough, Coccidia as well as a SEVERE case of Giardia. (The Giardia was the WORST case that this Vet has seen in recent years and my vet was at a loss as to how this was missed. I also found out that the medicine that was prescribed was not the ideal medicine to deal with Coccidia. How can a Vet and the Vet Techs miss SERIOUS issue such as these??? If I had not had an appointment scheduled a few days later, there is good chance that this puppy could have died. In all fairness, the Vet and the techs did notice the Kennel Cough and told me that the cough was due to the fact that they had to withdraw blood form his neck for a Blood Sugar Test. I will let you decide if you think that these people are competent!
Dr. Fernandez talks to pts as though they are incompetent, told me my dog was stable for transport to a surgical center and in fact had his jugular exposed and was too unstable per the receiving surgical facility. No dressing applied to any wounds, staff had to be called out because my dog continued to bleed, even though the staff stated no bleeding and his blanket and legs were saturated in blood. Staff was rude and condescending as if my emergency was an inconvenience for them. Didn’t seem to be an inconvenience when they went over the bill. Kinda funny......
Animal Emergency of Hernando helped me with a very hard situation. Their staff was accommodating, polite, and very respectful of the last day of my black lab mix, Shadow. Anyone who needs to have their pet put to sleep in a professional, courteous, and accommodating way should look into it before you choose the facility to do that for you. know what youre getting into, know the right and wrong way to have it done and choose carefully. I would highly recommend animal emergency of Hernando for anybody who needs this type of service after doing my due diligence. Thank you to the doctor on call that evening, as well as the very polite staff.
Thank you Animal Emergency for taking such great care of Knuckles! You guys were amazing!
Extremely unprofessional, vet techs were laughing and playing around on the job during our dogs last moments alive. and when we brought it up they accused us of LYING about it. They refuse to hold their employees accountable for their disgusting and insensitive behavior. They do not care about your pets whatsoever. Avoid this place at all costs!!
Went here today ( a Sunday ) because my mothers 14 year old dog needed to be euthanized. The staff were courteous and saw us right away. They did not rush and allowed my mother alone time in the room with her to begin the grieving process. They performed the service for $85 and provided us a nice burial box free of charge, so we could bury her in her favorite spot. Although a sad day overall, the Dr. and staff made the experience as pain free as possible, for my mother and Freckles.
Went here Wednesday April 3rd 2019, my baby (chihuahua) was bleeding really bad from his mouth. The vet didnt even look in his mouth, told me that he needs to have a dental cleaning. They tried to give him a shot for nausea, which I never told him that he was vomiting. I went home and couldnt sleep, couldnt wait till 8am, so that I could take him to his regular vet. I took him, but it was too late. He lost so much blood. My baby boy gained his wings. This is so hard for me to do this review because I am still crying. But I hope this will help someone else out. That way they can get better care for their loved one. I really wish that I went to a different emergency vet and maybe my baby would still be with me.
I will never go back. Took my daughters 3lbs dog there because he was attacked by bigger dog (no blood). His lung was collapsed, they fixed it but gave him too much pain killer and he died. They even told me he was going to be fine, and I could take him home once he was up from his anesthesia. $1,000 later and our dog was dead.
Took forever, however you cant really control that. Otherwise they were great.
I would give this place zero stars if it were possible. We lost our pet to this place. Take the drive and go to Pasco! They are in the business of making money, not saving pets.
After my cat had surgery he needed to stay overnight to receive IV fluids to prevent dehydration, which is fine. However, what is not fine is for me to come pick him up the next day to see him covered in dry urine. He must have been soaked all night and the urine was right by his incision site. Are you kidding me?? Are they not worried about infection and the comfort of my cat who just had surgery? Not to mention, when I called and ask if he had been wash they said they said with a dry shampoo. But clearly they did not do a good job. My poor cat smells and is just covered in urine. Don’t be a vet tech if you can’t even wash an animal properly
Thank you for taking such good care of my little angel last nite. And for being so compassionate and understanding to us at our difficult time. My sweeties fight was over and they gave us privacy and time to say goodbye, as much as we needed. This is a wonderful place. It is very clean, quiet, and the staff is amazing. They are compassionate, skilled, very understanding and I would trust them with any dog. The prices are comparable to any place around and I even think they are less than most places around. This is truly a place that cares and is not all about money. They open after all the veterinarians in the area do during the week and then they stay open all about money. They open daily after all the veterinarians in the area and stay open constantly all weekend. I would bring my babies there in any emergency. And I would be confident to call them for any other non emergency medical need and know they could either see us or steer us in the right direction to help.
I took my dog to this facility the vet and staff were very rude bordering on mean. My baby stayed there overnight and I picked her up next morning. Today I bathed my baby and saw there was severe bruising around her entire neck as if they manhandled by baby. She has not been the same since she was there. I am taking her to my regular vet to document this bruising and possible abuse. I would absolutely NOT recommend this clinic.
I’d give zero stars if I could. Rude staff all over. No compassion shown to customers or animals. Disgusting people working here.
First time there. The entire staff was very nice. Dr. Stone is wonderful and very caring. Took excellent care of my doggie. Two other clients were in the waiting room and asked me who the Dr. on call was and when I told them they were glad and said I would really like the Doctor. They were right. Thank you!
