Really nice gym a mix of old and new equipment. Staff was really sweet and helpful. Wasnt overcrowded and was able to workout with no complications. The busy hours are between 4 and 6 p.m. so I would advise to go around 12 to 3 if looking for a pretty empty gym. Some equipment did not work but I think they are in the process of ordering new parts for certain equipment.

Fantastic staff and facilities. Everything is clean, and there is plenty of cardio and weight equipment. The lap pool is wonderful. There are classes available via video or on site for members. Financial aid is available for those who struggling with money; just ask if you qualify. This is my home location, but I can utilize the facilities at any YMCA location. Its truly a fantastic place.

So this seems like a pretty decent place everybody at the front is pretty nice and greetsyou when arrive and leave.. The only problem that I ran into is the head director of personal training department who is Renee. When I talked to her on the phone she seemed very timid and a little condescending when I was trying to get with a personal trainer. She also lied to me and told me that she was gonna give me a call back and and update me about the availability on all the trainers and never did. Otherwise everybody else that works there is pretty nice and the instructors in all the classes that I have tried are very friendly and experienced.

The coolest YMCA on the entire planet,Everybody on the whole staff goes out of their way to make sure you have the best experience possible,The weight room/cardio floor is state of the art,All classes are fun and challenging,And theres one specific life guard who works at the pool, I think his name is Tony, the coolest guy ever, probably could a been a model instead but chooses to be of service to his community, and hes one of the greatest swim instructors in the entire history of the YMCA.The rest of the aquatic staff is pretty cool also. Also all the ones who run the classes are perfect 10s, basically the best looking staff, all of them have hearts of gold.11/10 place I would recommend for the whole family 😁

I love the Y! How much? So much that I continued to pay for my membership during Covid-19, when I didn’t have access to their facilities. I understood that the Y is so much more than a gym. They help feed low income families, they provide low cost childcare, they have programs to keep kids engaged instead of on screens and so much more! However, they are also an awesome gym! Indoor pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, endless cardio machines, weight machines and AMAZING group fitness classes from Zumba to yoga!Did I mention free childcare while you’re working out from professionals that love kids? That’s also there. I have been a member for 12 years and won’t ever leave.

First off before I get to the programs and activities Id like to comment on how the Townlake YMCA is one of the cleanest gyms I have EVER been to. I love that the staff takes temperatures before you get to enter the gym and that each member receives a disinfectant spray bottle to wipe down the machines you use. ALSO, the staff members are super polite and friendly each in their own way. I feel as welcomed into the gym as I do when I exit it. If there was an award for a top tier gym, I would vote for Townlake YMCA. Oh yeah, the programs and activities are nice too.

I like that the staff seems genuinely happy to be there, each and everyday. At other gyms, there is some degree of obligation to work that I sense from the staff rather than feeling excited to be there.Although I do not have a family or children, I love how the Y feels like a community, cares about its members, and serves families in big ways.It makes me proud to spend my time there and contribute to what makes the Y what it is.

Their leadership has been really unethical. I literally never leave reviews, but I’m so upset with this one. I canceled my membership back when the pandemic started (march) and have never given permission to restart that membership. That said, I found out recently that they had been charging me since June and only sent an email stating they were automatically restarting my membership even though I wanted to cancel my membership all together. When I realized what happened I called and was essentially told that they wouldn’t honor my cancelation and used their email notification (that went to spam) as an excuse to keep over $400 of my money. To be clear, I haven’t set foot in a gym since early March. This is just poor business ethics. Will never use a YMCA again.

I like the various classes and the flexibility offered by the instructors. I also appreciate that most of the fitness classes are for any fitness level and can be modified to suit your own fitness level. The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars, is that the actual gym space with equipment is very small.

I love visiting down town YMCA do to its overall very pleasant environment. Though it has a large number of equipment and plenty of space, my prime reason for visiting to exercise is the pleasant friendly staff, and most members being congenial. Ally who sometimes is at reception desk always genuinely smiles. Andy is another favorite staff member who lets me know he really loves me as another human being by telling me to shut up. Conveniently located on the edge of downtown Austin, this YMCA is a decent gym to utilize in town (though I would guess not the best you can find in a major city like this). There is plenty of parking located adjacent to and out front of the building. The layout of this gym is odd - too many different rooms and pieces of equipment spread out throughout the building.Overall good for a quality workout (and relatively clean environment), this is a good location.

The staff is great and they have a large pool, dry sauna with a steam room. As well, they have an indoor basketball court and large rooms for classes. Unfortunately, the space for free weights ( moldy smelling basement) is too small for the number of members. If you like free weights then do not join this gym unless you can workout at 3:00pm, each day. Parking is terrible, unless you can workout at 3:00pm. This gym would be better off if they moved the circuit training machines out of the basement and find room for them in one of the underutilized classroom spaces. The basement could be set up for free weights only. If they changed this configuration then I would give them 5 stars, but they wont. 😢 Either way, this gym is far superior to most of the franchise gyms like Golds. The membership cost is on a sliding scale, so it is based on what you can afford. The staff is really kind and friendly and I have never felt ripped off by the gym. Basically, the people make this gym and the family atmosphere is great. Watch out for the guy who drives the white camaro though, he is a nut! 😜
