I had BLR hotrods replace the engine & transmission in my 1996 Tahoe (along with a few other things - fuel pump, brakes, etc). It was much less expensive than the other shops I quoted. Its been about 6 months and 3k miles since and I havent had to go back - Id call that a success! Ive also had work done on my 2003 2500HD to have broken exhaust studs repairs and fix a few leaks.

They don’t honor their warranty. About a year ago we put my 1995 4Runner in that shop to have a new engine put in it. Took about three months more than the “three weeks” they told us but that’s fine. 6 months later The car began to leak gas through the injectors. We took it to out local shop and they said the fuel wasn’t the only thing leaking. Power steering line, brake fluid, oil, and coolant were also leaking. Since our engine is under their “one year warranty” we decided to save $1300 and have BLR fix the engine. We don’t have the car for two weeks. They calls us back and say we can pick up the car. We drive over and hour to BLR just to find the engine light turns on when we drive it. We go back home. A week later they call us again and say the car is fixed. We pick up the car and I drive it home and the freaking engine light turns back on. My family and I are already pretty much done with this shop. Not even two weeks after picking it up the dang 4Runner begins to leak gas again....So thinking that BLR did their job like they said they did, we took it again to out local shops to get the ”small” fix done. Lo and beholdddddd the local shop quotes us the $1300 because all BLR did was fix the power steering line. So now over a month of back in forth of calling and “waiting for parts” I end up with my Toyota engine in the same condition if not worse than when I needed a new one a year ago. Like come on you guys work on cars for a living, shouldn’t you be good at your job? Aren’t you going to honor your warranty? Yes I get it. The 3vz-fe is a terribly underpowered little engine that’s annoying to work on. But we paid you guys to put a new engine in. Not for all this. You guys are working harder just to not work on the car than if you actually just did your job. We need a car. For a family of 12 people, having one car out really throws a wrench in all of our plans. Have some integrity and honesty. I might just end up having to pay 1300 for all y’alls laziness and lies. Also my dad called them after hearing what our local shop said and they admitted to only working on the power steering. And they didn’t even put in the right amount of power steering fluid. We’re planning on taking the 4Runner back one last time to see if BLR Can get their act together and just fix this car. It’ll be best for both of us since we both want the 4Runner out of the shop and on the road. But until or if they do a good job...I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP. Unless you have an LS1 engine. Maybe they’ll do something right with that. Or just lie to your face for over a year.
