Gone here for years, the price is right but turnover seems to be pretty high so anybody thats really good probably goes someplace else for more $, this also leaves the less skilled barbers there. Last time my barber took a phone call in the middle of my haircut, and then did such a bad job he gave me the buzz cut price, $10 extra at a better place is worth my peace of mind

Fantastic place for a hair cut! The environment is always friendly and welcoming. It is a little loud at times, but, personally I think thats good. All the hair stylists are fantastic! I can only personally speak for a few but im sure threw rest are awesome!

Personally, theres no better place for my hair needs out there... I used to frequent places like Rudys, Counterbalance Barbershop, random hair salons all over Seattle searching for the one place that would cut my hair and trim my beard the way I like it, and I have finally found that in The Shop.It CAN be busy, so best time is to come during that 1-3pm midday slump, or be at the door waiting before they open 15 minutes prior. Weekends Id recommend being there no less than 20 minutes prior to opening. (Seriously)The front desk staff is always helpful and a pleasure to talk to, and the hair stylists all know what theyre doing because the people who are hired here have EXPERIENCE... sure the prices might have gone up a couple bucks recently but its still much cheaper than anywhere else... plus not many people know this but you get a shampoo and condition INCLUDED... so dont feel bad asking for it!Every time I leave this place I come out looking like a mix between f***in Aquaman, Thor, and Jesus... I feel ready for whatever the day has to throw at me! Im can feel all the eyes on me when I walk down the street or into a room, I get like +50 to Charisma... all the local moms stop me and say, who are you!? When I walk by....All this thanks to what the folks over at The Shop do with my hair. Thank you!

The front desk booking practice is complete nonsense. You have to book an appointment, but you can only book for that day. You have to pray that there is an available time on days that you can get a haircut. Why cant you book a day or so in advance, as is normal practice with most hairdressers? Making your customers have to call in and compete for times is completely unnecessary.

The stylist that cut my sons hair really went above and beyond to make sure she gave him exactly what he wanted. Anybody who has ever taken direction from an 8 year old knows just how challenging this can be! She did an amazing job. The prices at The Shop are great, and we walked right in. The desk staff is fast and friendly!

I’ve been going here since it opened. The haircuts range from average to above average with the occasional excellent cut. The customer service / front desk has recently become absolutely horrible. For the second week in a row I’ve called ahead to make an appointment only to see multiple walk ins go before me as I wait 30 to 60 minutes. Each time I’ve had to walk out because I don’t have the time to wait that long for a cut. I will no longer be going back to The Shop. They’ve lost a long time customer.

I have had many haircuts here which were good. Todays haircut was the worst haircut I have EVER had. Despite showing the stylist a picture of my last haircut (which was great) and telling her I only wanted a 1/2 off the top I ended up with 2 off and crooked bowl cut. Language barrier is definitely an issue.Will be wearing a hat for the next month!!

I drive out of my way to get my hair done here. I always arrive as a walk-in and Ive had my hair cut by 7-8 different stylists over the last 2 years. I prefer some over others, but Ive never had a bad cut. I also think the prices are very fair and the stylists are way friendlier and down to earth than Rudys.

I agree with the previous review by Todd. You can get a great cut here, but they seem to have a few people in the rotation that do a really bad job. I just had my second horrible cut from the same woman I had about a six months ago. I thought I recognized her from my previous nightmare, but I was unsure and did not want to insult her if I was wrong. I guess I should have been paying closer attention. She asked how I wanted my hair cut, and I said, just like it is now, but shorter. While she was chatting and cutting away, she moved my part way over to the side of my head - foolishly I thought that was just a first step in the process. But then she announced that she was finished. Not trusting her to fix anything, I cut my losses and left. When I try to part my hair in the usual place, it looks terrible. It looks bad the way she parted it, too.Heres what inspired me to write this review: she mentioned yesterday that she has been working there for 3 years!! How is that possible? I must have a very unusual hair style?? I would complain to the business but mercifully she also mentioned that she was leaving. So unless her replacement is as bad as she is, my odds of a decent cut will soon improve. Perhaps it would be good to give people a way to review the cuts they receive - like the feedback cards restaurants give you.I was on the east side yesterday and visited the Kirkland location, where they fixed my hair for free (though the only fix possible was to resort to a buzz cut!). They were very nice and tried hard.The bottom line: if you have an important event coming up, go somewhere else - your odds of a decent cut are good, but there is also a significant chance of disaster.

I have been getting my hair cut here for the last few months. Nice shop, friendly staff. Deon is my favorite hair stylist. He is an absolute wizard with the scissors and clippers. Ask for him if he is around.Took a star off because they dont allow appointments and often times they stop taking walk-ins more than an hour before closing.

I get a buzz cut here every couple of weeks and am always pleased with the quick and friendly service. Half the time I just show up and wait. Even when their list is full, they manage to fit me in within a few minutes.When I remember to do so, I call ahead and get on the waiting list. Families and all kinds and ages of individuals use The Shop. My favorite staff member is Mindy, for her attention to detail. But they are all good at what they do and are pleasant people to spend a few minutes with.The free two-hour parking under Bartells makes it a breeze to use The Shop as well as the nearby restaurants, grocery stores and Starbucks.

Good haircut, poor management and impolite front desk...When you call to make appointment, they say that you have to call 1 hour before you want to show up. That’s ok, but when you call them to make an appointment for 1 hour from the call time, they say they are fully booked for the day !?! The front desk person does not even feel like she (and he) has to tell you how they work.

Love this place. Great location across from Trader Joes and top of Queen Anne. Good prices and stylists are so nice. On real nice days, they open a wall up (its a garage door).

Amanda is a really great hair stylist. I highly recommend her! She understands my wavy hair and always gives me a cut that looks great and takes zero work.

Ive had great haircuts at the shop and only two bad ones. Most of the hairdressers there are great, I would just avoid Cindy. Both of them with her have been rushed as if she is trying to squeeze the cents out you. Left both times upset.

Great place for a mens cut. There are several barbers closer to where I live in Westlake, but I consistently get a great cut here (Ive had several staff, including a lovely Vietnamese lady, and most recently Janika). Theyre also much cheaper in this otherwise expensive suburb. They dont take bookings, but I usually phone ahead, ask how long the wait is and ask them to put down my name while I go shopping.

I always go out of my way to come here to get my hair cut. As far as mens hair go, they got it down pat. I want to say that 90% of the time they do an excellent job, and the rest of the time my hair still looks better than going to most other places. Its the only place I trust

I called in and asked if they had room for a long hair to short appointment, they told me to come in half an hour later and they were ready when I got there in 25! Michael was my barber and he smoothly took my hair from being to my lower back to a undercut with only a professional amount of hesitation. More than happy to answer my questions, he problem solved when my hair didnt work with the cut and I came out with the hair I wanted with little to no stress! I will be returning when my hair needs upkeep!

This is the only place in Seattle I can find that will not charge full price for a buzz cut. The staff is friendly and does a great job with buzz cuts and regular cuts alike.

I took my preschool aged son there for his first real haircut. The lady who did it did a great job and he was super excited that there were a lot of middle and high school aged boys also there (deeming it cool) so I scored on that one. Well be back.

They need to figure out their wait time estimates. I realize that they are estimates, but taking an hour on a 30 minute estimate needs to be improved.

Hair cuts are fine, but Ive been entirely unable to give them my money for several months now, as they dont do appointments. Its not my idea of a good time to wait 3 hours for a haircut. Start accepting appointments, and Ill come back. Until then, Ill go somewhere else.

Ive been to The Shop a few times (3-4) and have received mediocre haircuts. I only continued going back because of how close it was to my house. I no longer will be going there as the last cut I received was the worst yet. I had to go to a different barber shop to get the style I asked for originally.

Was made to wait a full hour past when my appointment was scheduled for because someone accidentally put two walk in’s ahead of me. Wasnt offered anything for my trouble. To top it all off the haircut was then rushed and now tomorrow ill have to get it redone as they missed large sections. Horrible experience.

Ive gotten a few decent haircuts there, but recently received a haircut so bad, so hacked and patchy, that my partner described it as like a dog whose hair is falling out. The person who cut it was incompetent and couldnt get me out of there fast enough. When I called to tell management, their response was rude and demonstrated a poor sense of customer service. I guess you get what you pay for

Terrible business model. This place is walk-in only but you will never actually be able to walk in. Every single time I come here or call ahead there is a 3+ hour wait. JUST LET PEOPLE SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS! They usually do a good job but I am officially at my breaking point. I wont be wasting any more time trying to get my hair cut here. I should be able to make a call, know what time my appointmnet is, and pay your business for a haircut. I literally have to plan my day around trying to get a cut here. Goodbye, I will be paying someone else from now on.

Waste of time and money. Obviously I needed a haircut, hadnt had one in 6mo, so I dropped in while running errands and gave them my name - first one on the list- I was told it would be a 10-15min wait. More people trickled in and the list grew. After 20ish min #2 & #3 on the list were called, I went to the desk to inquire why my name, #1 on the list above the 2 just called, was skipped. My inquiry received a snide, dismissive excuse of I just got here, as if it wasnt her responsibility to call the names in the order written....So 30 min after walking in I was called. I told Michael to take about an inch or so off and revive the layers into a shaggy bob (the hairstyle Ive had for 4+ years). He literally sprayed it wet, trimmed maybe a 1/4 all around, and said, there, like that? It was still soaking wet and I wasnt even given a hand mirror to see the back. His hands were shaking so bad the entire time, DTs? No blowdry, no layers, no glimpse of the back, 10 min after I sat down it was over - I literally cant even tell I got a haircut.

I had an unfortunate hair cut here. My hair cutter didnt speak english very fluently, so there were some miscommunications along the way. I was overcharged initially for a style that I didnt ask to receive and wasnt told that there was a charge for. I also was turned away from the mirror during the entire cut and style (?). Im super narcissistic and really wanted to look at myself for a good 30 minutes, you know? Kidding. But seriously, I wouldnt trust them with your hair. I was nervous, the hair cut was too short, there was no communication, and my cutter rushed it big time.

I do NOT suggest the asian lady for a stylistic hairstyles... :/

In the past few months my haircut experience at this branch is DISAPPOINTING and somewhat UNPLEASANT.It seems that few hairstylists are no longer around, with that, a DECREASE in the quality of service.This branchs rating is the lowest compare to other branches (in King county).NO WOUNDER !

This place varies from 1 to 5 stars, depending on who you get. Today I went in for probably the 10th time and got a stylist Ive had before, one of the only men that works there and the only one Ive seen with a tattoo on his neck. If you ever go in there and he calls your name, look at your feet and wait for the next person.To summarize my experience Ill say he did not offer to wash my clearly unwashed hatheaded hair, he just started cutting. Then when he was done he asked, were you wearing a hat today? I told him I was and he said, well if you have any problems with your cut come back tomorrow, Ill be here from blah blah to blah.Almost every other person there does a great job, but now Im stuck having to call the place to find out when this guy ISNT working so i can walk down the street and get a cut.

Need work on quality control.

Awful rude front desk staff - unprofessional, no respect for 30+, hairdresser you get is hit and miss as to their skill and demeanor, only reason people go because there are few other choices.
