When ave5 was the agency, it was amazing. greystar has to be the sketchiest company to work with. they charged us over $5k for move out, even though we had no balance and the unit was in prestige condition (even did a walkthrough with the office). Only move here if you are desperate.
Cypress is a very OKAY place to live. I lived there for over a year and there were both pros and cons that made me move. I’d strongly recommend reconsidering.Way overpriced for the location. Yes, the building is new. But the area is not the best. The encampment by I5 is a few blocks away. There were regular car break ins nearby AND inside the cypress garage! You can’t even protect your own garage?Maintenance personnel are great. Office staff seem nice and can be helpful. Close to street car on the one day you want to use it. No food options nearby. Yesler park is usually okay during daylight. The roof isn’t bad, and you could get good views on clear days. They tried to screw me over on my security deposit too.
If youre looking for a place to move right now- keep looking. Ive enjoying living in Cypress until recently. All of the previous reviews about the wonderful maintenance and office staff were spot on- until Greystar took over in December. We came back to our apartment after a couple of days on vacation before New Year and had a letter at our door saying that our rent payment would not be processed because a new company was taking over, and had only one day to provide a check. There was no e-mail communicating this take over and no time given. It is extremely over priced considering there are no amenities or common spaces available (and have been understanding of this throughout the pandemic). An elevator has been broken for a month and the other is often reserved for moves. The old maintenance staff is gone (which makes me so incredibly sad- seeing them was often the highlight of my day) and the trash shoot has back up all the way to the seventh floor (on multiple occasions). The large trash room is completely disgusting and was never like that with the previous staff. I have a difficult time getting to my mail box because the packages overrun the mail area at all times. The gym was opened to two people at a time starting this past week. I signed up through the amenity pass app as was instructed and the gym doors were locked upon my arrival (with no access to the office). Any of these in isolation would be bearable- but rent here is far to expensive to be dealing with any of it. Save your money- its not worth your hassle.
Nice building and common spaces. But my friend who lives here had his (locked) bike out of a secured inside bike storage room. Staff offered no explanation, video footage, fob access details, or improvement plans to prevent another theft. Beyond disappointing.
We moved into this apartment when it just opened, about 2 years ago. We were able to see this apartment transition from housing to professional adults to adult dorms. In the last 6 months, the hallways and units are loud during after hours. There are multiple occasions we have woken up and walked in sticky and stinky hallways and elevators with limes, wine, and take out food on the ground. The majority of the residents feel entitled to do whatever they want. There are building rules but they are not reinforced and could be label as empty threats. For example, if you park in someones reserved space, they threaten you that your car will be towed. Someone parked in our tandem RESERVED parking spot, blocking two parking spaces that we pay $400/month, and as we waited to get contact with management (they replied hours later), they would not tow the car. AKA empty threats. In addition, there was a constant increase of dog poop outside the building and someone left their dog poop in the hallway, let alone someones door (picture attached). Unbelievable! And after we contacted management, they just posted a sign in the elevator. What about the people who live on the main floor or the residents who do not take the elevator!? And after this sign was posted, there was no change in people picking up after their dog. Many areas in the hallway rug have pee stains on it.We have seen this apartment with constant change in management. When Greystar took over, there were no rules or expectations made to the residents. The apartment community and respect started to decline. If you want to live in a building community with trust and respect, I do not suggest this one. There are some lovely residents; however, there are too many emails we get from management for people to move their car from reserved parking spots, to stop smoking in their apartment because its setting off the fire alarms (the building is constantly being evacuated), and the reminder of quiet hours. We loved the building when we moved into it, but the community in it has changed. As management trys to set expectations, rules are not reinforced causing chaos. I suggest to management that if you want to have a peaceful community as you claim to have, be clear on your expectations and follow through.
Building is good, maintenance staff is fantastic, management staff is horrible. It took them 3 months to return my security deposit and they overcharged my debit account on the last month. I literally had to create an excel spreadsheet and a ledger fr them because they couldn’t do simple math *sigh*. At the end of the day they still kept more funds than they were supposed to.Would recommend you stay away from any apartments managed by Avenue 5.
I just moved in (2 weeks ago) but I am loving everything about this building and apartment. Employees are really helpful and nice (Savannah, Nichole and Ray). Moving during a pandemic was stressful but they made things better. The apartment is really beautiful and has great appliances! The common areas are closed due to COVID-19 but seem simply beautiful. Yesterday I went to the 7th floor just to see the rooftop and even though I couldnt really go in, I was impressed, its amazing.
Lived there for 6 months after moving to the area while looking for a house. The leasing office was always so helpful with all of our needs, and was always so quick to respond - all of this during a pandemic. They always kept us very informed and adapted swiftly to the new measures/restrictions covid put in place. I would definitely recommend living there!
Really terrible experience working with their management. Essentially have called weekly and been given different prices by every person I have spoken to. Their online availabilities and prices never match what the people on the phone say, and they dont return emails or calls.Had a friend show up for a tour, nobody knew he was coming and they showed him one unit because they hadnt adequately staffed themselves for tours that were scheduled weeks ahead of time.Too many red flags for me. Ill be taking my business elsewhere and would suggest you do the same.
The maintenance team is very good. They came to do the service the same day we submitted the request.
Im very disappointed with the poor service and outcome of my experience with Greystar. Greystar took over Cypress Apartments near downtown Seattle from another company. In doing so - as we called frequently to check in and try to help - they took more than a month to process our application. By then, the move was no longer suitable for us. They are an enormous company, but rejected our request and pocketed the $80 application fee, instead of refunding it to us. That is not the right thing to do and Greystar needs to treat people better. UPDATE: The response below isnt helpful at all. Called the number multiple times - it goes to the same people who have already refused to refund the fee - and it always goes to voicemail.
Living here for like couple of months now, responsiveness of maintenance staff and the work they do is spot on!
I have lived at Cypress for a year now and plan on continuing my lease for another year! Some of my favorite things about the building are the amenities and location. I’m close to great restaurant, stores, and public transportation. Cypress also has a state of the art gym with all the equipment I need, a rooftop that can also be reserved for private parties, and a game room. The office staff are always helpful and seem happy to be here...I’ve been very pleased with my living experience at Cypress.
My fiance and I have enjoyed living at Cypress for the past 18 months! Jury is out on whether well renew our lease in the spring - but here has been a summary of our experience so far.Pros:* The building is extremely well built. I dont know if I just have nonexistent neighbors, but I havent heard a single neighbors music, talking, footsteps, or music above, below, or on either side of me. Ive rented in other luxury buildings and this was always a problem. The only issue I have with the unit itself is the bathroom faucet is way too short. Cabinets are installed straight, which might seem like a basic thing but Ive toured enough new buildings to see shoddy craftsmanship in many non-Cypress units.* Lots of storage and walk in closets in many units* Staff is friendly and nice. They take complaints and requests seriously, and are quick in responding to service issues such as fixing our washing machine and replacing light bulbs.* Great roof, which was great our first summer here. Sadly its pretty restricted due to covid (understandably!)* I have had minimal issues with mail getting lost, and things being stolen. The package lockers are awesome.* Central location, extremely close to cheap, great food in the International District, and close to downtown and capitol hill. Direct bus (the 27) to downtown offices.Cons:* Area is not the best to walk around in after dark, but as long as you have a car it should be fine. There have been break ins in the garage but it isnt as bad as my last apartment in Wallingford, where it happened all the time and staff didnt seem to care* Ive heard from friends that the concession they offer for renewals is less than the concession they offer new tenants, which doesnt make sense to me. Either way youre getting a new 12 month+ lease, why not keep the people you know are good tenants?Things to be aware of:* The gym and most amenities are still closed due to statewide COVID restrictions.
Is beautifull place, but they need to clean the trash rooms on weekends and hollidays.
I was a resident of the Cypress Apartments for just over a year until I finally decided to move into a house. I had rented for 10 years and it was easily the best rental experience Ive had.The staff (office & maintenance included) are all very friendly and responsive. Neesha and the crew were always a delight to talk to if there were any issues (Its a new building so sometimes minor stuff popped up and promptly resolved). The rooftop is beautiful, and the property itself is very clean. There are a lot of fabulous common areas to enjoy, including a nice large gym that you dont feel cramped in.A+
My Partner and I have been living here for just over a year, we renewed during summer and we couldn’t be happier with Cypress and the whole community. The location is incredible- Yesler Park is across the street with gorgeous views of the city- its been my go to for socially distanced walks. You’re also steps away from an incredible cafe - Tougo Coffee- and near by some great eats like ChuMinh Tofu, Phin, YoungTea and all the places in the International District, Cap Hill, Pioneer Square. The office staff has been great to work with, there is always constant and thorough communication with keeping residents informed of any changes, and even with events halted and many amenities closed due to the pandemic, they have still worked hard to keep the community engaged with offering free coffee and snacks on some weekends, free ice cream during the summer months, and even planned a live streamed socially distanced “concert” with a local Seattle Singer. (we got to enjoy live music from our windows)Right now with so much uncertainty and stress during the pandemic, having such caring and helpful people in the office, and such genuinely kind Maintenance staff has made home life here wonderful. It’s not that issues haven’t risen, it’s just the fact that when and if they do the staff is attentive and caring and always ready to resolve them and always looking for new ways to improve.I even recently had a wonderful experience with Lilly from the leasing office-I had a package that seemed to have been missing for a few days and Lilly was so delightful and a blessing to talk to-even while Lilly was taking care of another resident and getting ready to show an apartment, she checked in with me to get all info and made it a priority to help track down this package. I was so grateful for her time and thoroughness that led to us tracking it down!I definitely recommend living here. Plus you get to see a lot of cute Dogs on walks.
Come on thru and live here
Beautiful views
I did not have a good experience with the property management here. I was told by one person that I could cancel my monthly parking for my last month before moving out, but then, they charged it anyway and claimed it was nonrefundable for the full lease term. There were a host of other issues (tiny parking garage, thin walls/ceiling, etc) as well, but not nearly as bad as the dishonesty of the leasing staff. The only bright spot was the maintenance employees - they went above and beyond to help me with any issues that I had.
Ive been at Cypress for 6 months now. I have to admit there were some underlying expenses I wasnt aware of and $$$ parking, however the location is great. Im very new to Seattle, but found many places similar that are far pricier. The staff is great and pretty responsive. The building is amazing and the rooftop is unbeatable. Thanks, Cypress Team!
The best aspect of Cypress Apartments is the location. Unexpectedly i had to move, which led me to Cypress Apartments. With Seattle housing options being so limited, i now find myself stuck at Cypress unhappy, and eagerly awaiting my lease to end. If you have time, i would strongly encourage you to keep looking for a better apartment experience.
Cypress has been a great place for my boyfriend and I. The location is great, it is quiet for being so close to the city and the amenities and living space is amazing. The leasing staff was very helpful getting us moved in. The process was very seamless and underwhelming which I appreciate so much as moving can be very stressful.
Ive had a lot of difficulties since moving in: apartment was incomplete and maintenance was not receptive even 6 months in. The lack of support and effort is really the biggest issue I have with this apartment complex. The amenities were very attractive when we first moved in, but their wear and poor upkeep are already showing even though complex was just built last year. I would think again if youre considering this apartment. Their location is convenient, but I do not see this more than a short term option if youre interested.
My husband and I have lived at Cypress for 15 months now. Our experience at Cypress has been excellent. The building itself has much to offer- the rooftop community areas are beautiful and inviting, lounge chairs, fire pits, hammocks, music, television, a full kitchen- we have grilled up there many times, and hosted friends and family. The other community areas are so cool, as well- Ping-Pong, lounging, outdoor gardens, eating area, etc. The gym has everything you might need, as well. The parking garage is secure, and the entire building feels very secure, as well.Cypress is near to all types of public transportation- trolley, bus, light rail, and is on a bike route. There is literally any kind of food you want to eat, within walking distance. Yesler Terrace is a fantastic neighborhood, and the park across the street from Cypress hosts kids of all ages, families, and dogs. But the best thing about Cypress, in my opinion, are the staff. They are responsive, professional, thoughtful, and part of the community. Any time weve had an issue (small things) or question, Neesha, John, Ray, Juniper, and the rest of the team have responded immediately. Its these individuals who bring the human element to Cypress. They treat every resident with respect and kindness. I have watched them respond with grace as we entered this Covid 19 pandemic. Cypress staff were pro-active in keeping residents safe and informed, implementing social-distancing early on in the crisis. We are so thankful for Cypress staff, and all they do.I highly recommend Cypress as a home!Meghan
I had such a wonderful experience living at Cypress! Neesha is honestly one of the best property managers I’ve ever interacted with! During the covid19 pandemic, my family began to be affected economically, but Neesha was always in our corner, extremely understanding and she always made sure we had all of the information we needed. If my wife and I hadn’t relocated to Los Angeles, we would honestly still be living there. Thank you Neesha and the entire team at Cypress, you made my family’s time in Seattle second to none.
Experience here has been so far so good. prime location, excellent accessibility to capitol hill restuarants and grocery stores. Excellent amenities and staff. One the other side apartment is located at the corner of yesler and broadway. Expect some noise during summer due to vehicle movement when windows are open.
Management wont respond after they leave you a first copy paste message.
This is one of the first places I saw in Seattle. What drew me in was the rooftop, the eco-friendly vibe, and Ylana- the amazing leasing specialist who worked with me through the process. The apt is conveniently located by the Seattle streetcar- so you get the benefits of living right outside Cap Hill with easy access into the city for good/groceries/etc.The views are great - the gym is great!Be ready for ambulance noise- that is for the first hill area in general- as they are so close to hospitals, but I have found Cypress to be the best value for space/location/amenities/safety.
Best apartments I have been
