Ive been conned by these individuals over the course of the last year. They took $8000 and returned my car broken. After a break-the-bank estimate from Mercedes, I went to AAMCO. Ian evaluated my car and determined that I didnt need all that Mercedes was attempting to sell me. He offered me pickup and delivery, and did the required repairs for about 70% less than Mercedes. Ian is a super nice guy and a true American success story.

I talked to Ian before I brought my 1969 GMC pickup in and I told him Im the original owner and the transmission hadnt been looked at in over 30 years. I told him it was slipping and banging when it shifted. I feared the worst, that it was worn out or badly damaged. He promised me hed check it out and give me his honest assessment. He called and told me he drove it before any work was done to personally experience what I described. After his team checked it out and didnt find anything broken decided it was worth changing the fluid. Ian drove the truck again, called me and said it was much better. When I came to pick it up he gave me a vial of my 30 year old fluid as a souvenir! I couldnt be happier! The old Red Rocket is running great! It was a wonderful experience and a breath of fresh air to be treated with such personal attention AND by such an honest team of professionals!

Ian and his staff are the most honest and dedicated to their craft. Hands down the best place to get anything done to your car with the comfort of knowing you are not getting ripped off. This will be the only place that I will bring my car to get repairs done.

Ian was extremely professional and really took my issue seriously. I had looked around 4 other auto shops in the area just to get a diagnostic on my rear windshield wipers, all of them couldn’t assist me. AAMCO was the only one who immediately took my car in to get it repaired. Little less than 24 hours later it was ready to be picked up. Great service!

I have a 2009 VW EOS Komfort convertible. I took it to the VW dealership here in Sarasota and was told I needed a new transmission and a new convertible top to the tune of $20,000. Plus they charged me $200 just for diagnostics. Needless to say, I left that place and will never return. I called AAMCO and spoke with Ian concerning what I had just been through. He told me to bring the car in and he would check it over. I picked my car up today with everything taken care of (not having to buy a new transmission or new convertible top) and it cost me $900. I am so grateful to have found Ian and AAMCO. Thank you!

I stopped into Aamco (arts and crafts) the other day looking for random gears for an art project that I’m working on. I met Ian at the front office. He was extremely friendly and helpful. Once I told him what I was looking for, he was extremely accommodating and immediately took me to the back and let me search out what I was looking for. I met another employee and he was also extremely friendly and helpful. While I wasn’t looking to have a transmission repaired, I’m glad that I stopped in because all of my needs we met. And I was very happy with how friendly and nice the staff was at Aamco, on Washington. I would recommend stopping in if you have any automotive needs based on how friendly everyone I met in the shop was that day.

I went in for an AC check (my compressor wasnt working). I mentioned that I have warranty on the part since I got it fixed in Mesa, AZ. I left my car all day Thursday, the owner said he would tell whats wrong w it by the end of the day. No call. I call the next day, he says he hasnt even ran a diagnostic because he was waiting to on a response from an office about the warranty (idk what he was talking about, Im guessing he wanted to avoid liability or something). Anyways he says its going to take anywhere from 4 to 14 days. I cannot wait that long. I call my aamco in AZ and he says it never takes this long and then I tell the guy from SRQ to call AZ. He doesnt. Then I pay for an uber to get to my car just for him to tell me that I dont understand what he has to go thru blah blah blah. At this point I dont even care if its under warranty, I will pay for my ac to be fixed and then mentioned the same thing leave it here and ill tell you whats wrong w it by the end of the day its clear he is new to business and clearly overwhelmed but for him to not even run a diagnostic even though I left my car for over 14 hours w him is unacceptable because its never happened at any of the many aamco Ive been at. At this point dude, its clear your shop has a lot to work on and time is precious to me and it got wasted all does two days.

This people really make me feel like we was friends from long ago. They will do there best. Call you even when theyve closed. Call with daily report. And they not going play games and if you not satisfied with their work our you guys arent seeing eye-to-eye. Manager just might not charge you anything. And keep the parts on your car so you can find somewhere else to go. Sorry to who ever saw me leave a one star rating. I truly bell thought i was leaving that for Brandon Hyundai

Ian really came through for me when I was in a bad situation. I was passing though town on my way home to Chicago with my wife and son in tow when we started having transmission issues. They were the only shop in range that was open on a Saturday. Even though the news wasnt all good, Ian carefully explained the whole situation and what all the various engine codes and symptoms meant. His lovely accent also made it easier to hear. Thanks for not taking advantage of a stranger when it would have been easy to do so.

Thanks Ian for understanding the need for repair. Service was first off to a Rocky start but Ian really did follow through on consequences to those who made it Rocky. Work was done in a timely manner. My son is happy happy to drive his car. I also took them all at the shop a pie to show appreciation.

If I could rate zero I would mechanics in the back seemed ok but guy in front office with the European accent will completely try to take advantage of you. Long story short he was trying to charge me almost $500 dollars for a job I did myself in less than 2 hours and cost me $42 in parts from autozone. I would never go here again he gives AAMCO a bad name.Reply to your comment:A mark up of 300% on $25 dollar part is not fair and the way the gentleman in the front office could not show me what I was actually paying for and continually changed the price for the job was completely unprofessional. Completely untrustworthy people in this front office.

Worse experience ever Ian is the manager he is very rude and lacks customer service and common sense let’s just say anybody can get a job there no experience needed after using a wrong part on my car they blamed everybody but the mechanic he had do the job needless to say I drove my car to this shop over a month ago and everyday they had an excuses as to why they hadn’t done the job a simple axel and here we are a month later now my car is unable to be driven so I’m currently towing it to another shop from their shop at my own expense this company is highly NOT recommend!

My A/C has been getting weaker & weaker over the last year. The mechanics found the problem quickly, John sourced the parts efficiently w/price in consideration. The repair was done in just a couple of hours & now I have cool - COLD air blowing. I would recommend this business to anyone. Friendly, efficient competent service.

Do business with these people at your own risk. I took my car in for service. They finished the service and parked it unlocked in their front lot. A drugged woman stole my unlocked car from their business in broad daylight, drove away and totaled it by losing control and rolling it over onto another vehicle. The management there first suggested I knew the woman (I dont) and then told me that because I was not there when the theft took place, I couldnt really say they left the car unlocked.To add insult to injury, the owner presented me with a bill for the work they said they performed on the vehicle they allowed to be stolen.Basically, make your own judgement after reading this. I know Id never use or recommend the place because of the negligence. I can also provide police incident report numbers to validate this story.If I could give them minus stars.....Further, after reading the owner response, Id just point out they did not bother to secure the vehicle when it was in their care. Im not certain how one defines negligence in other countries, however it seems like negligence with someone elses property here. Insurance companies aside, the customer must decide if the business is trustworthy. This customer gives them a big failing grade. His business experienced no inconvenience, while this customer was forced to replace the totaled vehicle and the hepatitis blood soaked interior after the thief bled out inside of the stolen and wrecked vehicle. And dont forget he presented me with a bill for the work. Also the business seemed to think it was a humorous item and emailed an account to the local television news department.Additionally, the insurance company did not leave my vehicle unlocked in their care. The business did. And it seems its incumbent on the ownership to reach out to remedy this rather than the customer.This customer would caution other potential customers to bear this all in mind when selecting an auto repair facility.

Frank doesnt work there anymore. Frank is dearly missed. Ian has big shoes to fill but he fills them well.

I cannot say enough about what a fantastic experience we had here! We were visiting from the Midwest when our engine blew and we opted for a full engine replacement.Ian was so helpful and patient during such a stressful time, he took the time to fully diagnose the problem and he and his team went above and beyond in terms of making it right...there were a few times that I was in the garage and heard him talked my to other clients and repeatedly said “I don’t just want to throw parts at the problem and hope it’s ok, I really want to figure it our and get it right”I would while-heartedly recommend this business to any family member or friend!

I had New CV & axle boot put in by Gettel Toyota on 5 th Feb & 6 days later had transmission leak badly and gears wouldnt shift .so I called AAMCO & spoke to Ian & he said that it sounded like no fluid in transmission.so I bought some from him & towed my vehicle in & they replaced the bad work that caused leak done by Gettel.i am Very Happy with AAMCO fixing the problem thanks Steven 🦘

I have to say I was shocked how honest these people are. They didnt try to sale me any services. They told me my transmission is fine. I had been told by another transmission place. I needed to have my transmission rebuilt. This place didnt treat me like oh a woman we can take her to the cleaners. They didnt even charge me for checking my jeep out. I would definitely go there again. Very nice auto repair shop.

We called with an AC problem in the morning. They were able to get us in by 1pm! They were professional, extremely informative and got the work done before the end of the day. To top it off the cost of 1/3 of what I thought it would be! Thank you!

Manager Frank A. instilled confidence in my initial contact. He knew that my older transmission might not take a power flush, and provided a better more nuanced solution. His experience saved me from damaging aging parts. Read on...Now the con... Frank advised me that my brakes were in bad shape, and that I needed to replace the pads both front and back. He said I should not do hard breaking, or I might score the drums/disks. I later had them inspected and found that I have more than 50% remaining life on both front and rear. This classic up-sell tactic is highly unethical.

From the very first recommendation and an after hours pick up on the phone by Frank to meeting with Ian in the service that they vendor in the efforts that they made to make sure that I was accommodated; they were great! And when there was a follow up issue to be dealt with, Ian honored the AAmco nationwide warranty no questions asked and bent over backwards to get me service the same day in a shop close to my work place to avoid potential damage to the vehicle. The Sarasota Washington Ave. shop will treat you right and take care of you and do all that they can to make everything right. That’s my experience

I highly recommend using AAMCO. The staff is amazing, friendly and very efficient. We had them do different work on different vehicles and never had any problems with them. They were very thourough with checking our vehicles and diagnosing problems.. They were also able to squeeze our car in for quick oil change before work with no problems. It was simply a nightmare and after I offered to pay the owner of 50 dollars to just put the cover of the rear yoke back on and lube it he never did so I drove with no lube and the mechanic that had to change it out went through a case of brake cleaning fluid trying to get the gears cleaned he lied and it damage to my car

Frank was able to squeeze me in for a quick diagnostic and the tech figured out my speed sensor was broke literally within 2 minutes. Ian the new owner was there also and after chatting with him It became obvious that he is continuing to invest heavily in high end equipment purchases to help both with car diagnostics and repair. This is obviously good for the customer and it’s refreshing to see someone have such a vested interest in ensuring the place performs good service. Highly recommend!

I had transmission problems with my F150, where else would I bring my truck? The guys were very professional and super friendly. It was my first time there and I felt very comfortable and at ease with them. They diagnosed the problem, re-built the transmission, and 2 days later I was on my way. Students, parents, Sarasotans; I couldnt recommend this place more: 5 stars! Stopped in for direct and immediate service when my rear lights failed. Went to Autozone first to try the fuses, but the fuses looked good. Sat for about 20 reassuring minutes to friendly conversation with Frank. Looked at a nice book on Cadillacs. The handsome fellas there took care of the problem: burnt bulbs. This would have taken me a lot longer to fix- so it was nice to walk away with my car in good shape again. A student walked in and Frank was super kind and friendly to her too. I didnt get any sense of a scam from these guys: excellent service and you can send your college kid here without fears. I ended up only having my oil changed and that was at a fair price. I am only in the area for school and it nice to be able to find a reliable mechanic in the area. My wife and I are on our honey moon and 9 hours away from home. Our vehicle’s check engine light, traction control light and 4wd light all came on at once. Not knowing the places to go around the area, we were directed by multiple residents of Sarasota to go to AAMCO. The staff and mechanics were top notch. They diagnosed the vehicle for free! They found the problem very quick and was able to fix the vehicle in record time (which even required finding us a very specific part). While we waited Frank talked with us and gave us ideas to go and tour and places to eat. Ian also came to the lobby and talked with us about places to eat where we are actually staying (Anna Maria Island). These people made it a point to be professional and polite. They were honest and fair. If you want an honest estimate and diagnostic on your vehicle, this is the place to go. Like I said I am on my honeymoon and the last thing I wanted to do was be at a mechanic shop, but AAMCO made it a great experience overall!! I highly recommend! You won’t be disappointed.

Honesty, integrity, and truly care about their customers, all at a fair price!My car broke down on a work trip and I chose to have it towed to Aamco Sarasota based on the most recent reviews. The tow truck wad delayed resulting in my car being delivered 45 minutes before they were closing. I was an hour and a half away from home and had to work early the next morning.Knowing that I had been having a terrible day up to that point, the owner pulled his technicians from other jobs to diagnose and repair my car on the spot. I was able to drive away before closing time!That kind of customer service is extremely rare. I highly recommend Ian and his team!

Got my Alternator replaced, they were able to get me to and from work and with a great price and speedy service.

I found my new mechanic. The new owner Ian is very knowledgeable and hands on.GM Frank is a straight shooter and up front. The star of the show however is Miguel, the transmission whisperer I call him., behind the scenes making sure everything is straight. There’s closer mechanic shops near me but I trust these guys.

I called AMCO due to an add they were running that included an AC service diagnostic for $39.00. I am mechanical, but AC is something that I just dont have the tooling or capability to deal with. Usually most mechanic shops get annoyed once they realize that I know what I am talking about and that they are not going to be able to overcharge me. I didnt get this response from Ian (owner). On the first visit they diagnosed the Engine cooling/AC cooling fan was out. They gave me the option of installing the fans myself and didnt even charge me for the visit. Thats right the visit was FREE. He simply said bring it back once you install the fans and we will go from there. AMAZING. Of course he would have installed the fans if I had asked him, but he respected the fact that I wanted to save money and could do some of this myself.I brought the car back once I installed the fans for a re-check of the AC. He evac, re-charged the system for the $39.00 special (no gimmicks). He did tell me I have a leak on the low side AC line, but again he is giving me the option to fix that myself and will work with me on recharging the system once that happens. For now the car blows cold AC. Eventually it will leak, but when it does I will replace the line myself and Ian will give me a fair price to recharge. He is honest and fair, great guy.
