I love this gym and love their kickboxing classes. Unfortunately due to personal concerns over covid (nothing to do with the gym) I decided to cancel my membership but I am hopeful to be able to return one day. The cancellation process was pretty seamless as long as you can follow directions. I emailed them and received a response within 24 hours. Instructions on how to cancel the membership is listed in your agreement and they confirmed my cancellation was complete after I followed up via email.

I can’t say enough about how much I love this gym. My whole family works out here including my daughter who loves training with the professional, supportive, and fun coaches. She has developed physical strength and confidence in herself through the coaching and challenges. The coaches take time to encourage you and provide the support and coaching required to help you improve physically. It feels like a family and I appreciate how hard they are working to keep members safe during this pandemic. I’m addicted to the CrossFit classes and always get personal attention to improve my movements and efficiency. The members and staff are friendly and encouraging. I highly recommend KnuckleUp as a gym family.

Classes were great, but they made it impossible to cancel membership and then sent to collections! Tried TWICE (once by phone and once by email) and they kept billing my credit card anyway. I finally had to dispute the charges with the credit card company to get them to stop charging and then sent it to some half-rate collection company that still harasses me a year later (again, I finally had to dispute the credit and charges after requested my membership be canceled TWICE). I would have returned as a customer after my travel schedule lightened up, but absolutely not after the way this was handled.Avoid or be prepared to fight to cancel your membership

Love this place they open everyone and their differing opinions with open arms. I like that regardless of who you are or what your background is they treat you like family. They way they open up the gym to different kids and programs, people with disabilities, etc. is amazing. I’ve never seen a gym so willing to step forward and help out their community and those around them. They treat you like family. Oh and the workouts and coaches are pretty good too.

Signed up for this gym because they offered so many workout options in one location. Although, I mainly attended crossfit. I did also try out the boxing classes. After about 10 months of attending this gym. I decided this wasnt the gym for me. The pros of this gym are Crossfit & Boxing coaches, gym members, price, convenient location, daycare system, class options and time.BUT the CONS are just too much to overlook. First the bathrooms are old and dingy. Multiple of my crossfit friends have quit the gym due to management attitude. The weights section is cluttered and dangerous. You have to step over mutiple things to get to the weights. And the WORST is they dont offer any cleaning supplies to clean the equipment after EACH workout. I complained about this multiple times. It was explained to me that the equipment was wiped down each night, and we didnt need to wipe down the equipement after each use. Well that was a lie, because I could still see chalk on the barbells from the day before. This place had bad cleaning habits prior to Coronavirus. So I could only imagine how much of a risk this place is after Coronavirus. Because of this i cancelled my membership. I didnt want to risk my health.

Such a great workout! The classes are intense but the instructors never make it out of reach regardless of your skill or fitness level. Never felt out of place and always left with a crazy full body workout! I unfortunately had to move from Georgia but their cancellation process was easy and pain-free. They stayed in communication with me and were open and clear about the process which is a WAY better experience than Ive had cancelling most gym memberships.

I enjoyed the kickboxing class and the cleanliness of the facility. However, I felt like I was taken advantage of through the cancellation process. I signed up with the unlimited kickboxing class but immediately cancelled the same day because the class times and locations were not convenient for me. I was told that the manager would call me back about cancelling, which I never received a call back. I spoke with customer service to cancel but they could not locate my account since I just signed up. I was told that it would be noted in my account so that I would not be charged. I now notice that I should not have trusted their word. I called back repeatedly to speak with the manager and they told me she would call me back, which never happened. I have written notice via email about cancelling with responses from customer service so there is a paper trail and proof of cancelling. I was told I should have sent a written letter in the mail and once they received that letter they told me I owed $263(quoted $119 for a month) and it has not even been a month since I signed up for the classes. With the intent of cancellation I did not use the services and being told I should still be charged. DO NOT sign up for classes here if you feel pressured to sign up or you are unsure about taking classes here because if you cancel and do not mail them a letter they will still charge you for more than you signed up for. I still have not received a call back.

In town for a week and decided to drop in knuckle up. Walked in on Monday and Tim was and has been super friendly. Made me feel at home and took the time to walk and show me around. I decided to do the kickboxing class and even then. Tim took the time to explain to me how every thing works and helping me wrap my wrist. I never realized the wrapping your wrist had its own technique. Instructors were great and has been an amazing experience for the time I was able to spend here. Again, thanks to tim for making me feel so comfortable, welcoming and enjoyable.

I was impressed with the extremely positive attitude that I experienced from both the staff and instructors who are always available and willing to help you. The instructors are focused on safety and form during the workouts and always make sure that each exercise is modified to fit the ability of the individual. The kickboxing classes provide a great full body workout with kicks, punches as well as leg and core exercises. The instructors are always fun to be around, they push you to your limit, and make sure you have a good workout at the end of each class. The price is very reasonable, specially when you have so much attention during classes. I can easy pay 20 something bucks anywhere else, but wouldnt have the type of attention and workout I have at Knuckleup Fitness.I also want to mention that Chris approved my Account Freeze with no hassle when I needed to be out for a month. Extremely unfriendly to newcomers as some of the other reviews mentioned. Coaches are rude, especially Steve Mitchell. I would pay money to never have to take a class from him again. Easily the worst coach Ive ever met, no matter how many years hes been fighting. Ive been going to a different place for 4 months and the difference is night and day. I have met literal children who are better jiu jitsu coaches than what they have at knuckleup. And there is no comparison between the adult coaches. They can actually teaach something without being condescending. Knuckleup gets two big thumbs down.

Irresponsible training. This review is a warning to anyone who is new to martial arts. If you’re new or just don’t like being injured on your first day of class...please read this.I would not recommend this gym. I’ll start by saying I thought everyone at the gym was great—the front desk staff, coach, and students were all friendly. That’s why I gave them 2 stars instead of one. My issue with this gym is irresponsible training. On my first day of training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I was injured. After about 30 minutes of some brief explanations of arm bars I was told to roll with a blue belt. At this point I had no training in BJJ and was never even taught the basics such as tapping out. Luckily, I knew well enough to do this. My partner and I started slow with rolling and I was asking for her guidance because I had no clue what I was doing (I bought a groupon and walked into the class with zero knowledge of BJJ). She was kindly walking me through the process when the coach told her to “stop talking and stop explaining things to her. Just roll.” To be clear, I have no problem with this coach. I thought he was a really nice guy, but I think this approach was over the top and frankly just dangerous. Towards the end of rolling the blue belt I was sparring with put me in an arm bar. I tapped out as quickly as I could but she pressed a little too hard and sprained my elbow. My elbow was messed up for weeks afterward and I saw a doctor about it. I would strongly recommend that this gym regulate their training to insure new comers on their first day don’t leave injured. This is absolutely ridiculous and should not happen. This could be prevented by not allowing white belts to roll without at least 3-4 weeks of training and by educating higher belts on self control. This is standard at many other gyms and I’m disappointed with the irresponsible training at this gym.

I first found Knuckle Up when I would cross train at their Open Mats years ago. From the jump staff and students alike were friendly and welcoming. It made it very attractive to keep training. During a point in my life where I had stopped training all together I found myself contacted by Instructors at KU encouraging me to get back on the mat.I had the privilege of working on staff for over a year and truly enjoying the atmosphere of coaches and students that just wanted to help each other reach their potential. Knuckle Up will always be family. This is a place where I continue to train now primarily as a student in Jiu Jitsu.I have recommended friends and family to come try classes here and seen it help folks find a way to make great changes in their life. Outside and In.What you will find in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is a dedicated group of Black Belt practitioners that take as much pride developing a students Jiu Jitsu as they do that persons character. A large number of colored belts through every rank that participate in the positive gym culture on the mats. What I have noticed most is the beginner friendly environment where I’ve seen new white belt practitioners catch the same bug that I did when I first started training. They also offer a dedicated Boxing program with all the amenities you would want in a Boxing gym including speedbags, double end, mesh and leather heavy bags and a ring. They have a fully built CrossFit program. The really cool thing I’ve noticed their is that some of the CrossFit coaches hold ranks in Jiu Jitsu, teach fitness kickboxing and have willingness to work with a help meet a client where they are at.They have a dedicated Muay Thai program led by equally dedicated Coaches. Again, I’ve seen the student coming in as a beginner and develop legitimate skills alongside the advanced student training to put those same skills to test in the ring or cage. They have a dedicated Kids Striking Program and Kids BJJ Program. It’s really awesome to see the little ones come in and build their confidence whether it is on the mat or in a tournament. I’ve seen these same instructors make themselves available to come out and coach these kids at local events, put on Bullyproofing seminars and dedicate their time to working with the community promoting the discipline and values found in martial arts. And of course the Kickboxing program. Their high energy classes are a beast of a workout. Try one! It’s a lot of fun! I have sweat more and been challenged in a one hour kickboxing class and felt that wonderful release of endorphins afterward.Knuckle Up has a great team of member representatives that help you to find the program that best suits your fitness goals. It’s not unusual to see the owner, CJ, on the mat teaching a class, touring a new member, helping wrap hands at the front or participating in seminars for the community or organizing food drives, or team driven events for charity. These people care and I’m glad to have found the family that I have found in Knuckle Up! I would encourage anyone to go in and try their wide variety of classes and see what they are about.

This is a solid gym, however they do make things kind of difficult to cancel contract based (long term) if you dont follow the contract EXACTLY. Meaning they allow you to cancel a long-term membership if you move a certain distance away from the gym. In order to cancel you must show them your new license with the correct address, no exceptions because thats what it says in the contract. I personally think this is a bit strict considering there are other ways to prove someone moved and situations that come up which might prevent someone from getting a new license right away. In my case I moved to NYC and was temporarily living with a friend before finding a permanent place to live so I had not gone to the DMV yet. Also before moving to NYC I sold my car and was in no rush to get a license since I would not be driving.I just highly recommend you really read the contract before signing up. It is otherwise a solid gym like I said, they seem to have professionals there who know kickboxing extremely well (the only class I took). And they offer one week free, which is awesome!

(Continued from previous post Ebony Ebony)After I left the this facility I got in my car to gather myself and to console my son since he was upset as well I called back in side the gym while still sitting in the parking lot to get the business corporate number. a female answered the phone by name of Alicia, she said that there was no corporate number but she was the manager. Now Im tryna figure out why the dude K didnt go get the manager when I asked him to while I was still in the facility? Smh. So anyway i explained everything to her. She was not interested in dealing the K mis-communication situation AT ALL . Alicia just gave me the run down on the price for 1 month membership $236 which would include Groupon voucher towards reg price and 6 month membership for $562 Upfront with membership fee waived AND the PRICE OF THE UNIFORMS (My 1st time hearing the price of uniforms $100-$120). Alicia did excellent selling the service and breaking down the numbers for me. I even wished that I had spoken to her 1st. She was very confident with her tone and clear with her words. Its Alicias disregard for a customer complaint as a manager about staff is what got my attention. She literally said out her mouth were not gonna talk about K and went straight for the Money! And now the that Im looking further into the reviews on this company Im like hmmm!? Every body not saying the EXACT same thing for No reason. So glad we didnt sign a contract. They literally have more 1 star google reviews then 2, 3, or 4 star Google reviews put together . I have contacted Groupon and they are giving me a full refund which is great. We will just find some where else to go now that I know what to look for and what NOT to look for. Thanks KnuckleUp!

I was referred here by 1 of the members via Groupon. Came in last week with my 11 year old after speaking with K over the phone. He told us to come in for a 1 time free class on Tuesday to see if my son would like it so we did. Signed the waiver my son had fun and it was great. Cant wait to come back and now Im gonna sign up for a class as well. We came back on Thursday im prepared to use my voucher now but K for sum reason didnt ask anything so I was like hmmm? Must be free idk so I just went along with it. Came in today Tuesday same thing they just let my son walk in and go to the back. So now Im like ok something is not right bc I still have not paid or used the Groupon Voucher so I spoke up and said I need to sign my son up! K then jumps up from lounging in the chair with his feet up and arms folded to assist I gave him groupon and then he says my son cant use voucher for 6months since he already had a 1 week pass... PAUSE! When did he have a 1 week pass and why wasnt I aware? Of course he said he told me bc he tells everyone the same thing but I did not hear those words come out of his mouth! The gym was noisey on my 1st visit and I did have to ask him several times HUH? What did you say? I cannot hear you? Im sorry can you repeat yourself again? SEVERAL TIMES! I mean seriously how many times do I have to tell this guy to speak up! So Im not surprised that Im missing important information regarding the sign up process. Yall shouldnt have a guy at the front desk who is to laid back n prissy to OPEN UP THERE MOUTH when talking to clients and selling a service! I was planning to do business with this company long term which is why I spoke up about paying/joining today. I could have easily just kept coming since clearly no1 knew what was going on but being dishonest is just not in my character. I feel very mislead and I literally left out of the facility in tears. EVERY ONE SAW n not one person gave a damn! Im like clearly there was a mis-communication with the ADULTS. PLEASE dont make my son suffer. He is a child but nobody cared. I even asked for a manager K didnt even allow me to speak with a manager he just told me there was nothing they could do. This just sucks. Everything happens for a reason so Im just gonna trust in the spirit of the Lord that this is is just not the place for us (Now that I have calmed down). This place went from a dream to a nightmare due to poor communication! Staff to busy tryna be laid back, cool, and pretty (typical gym guy stuff) verses being at work and doing your actual JOB! Extremely frustrating (To be continued...)

This review comes late as Ive just really settled down into the Atlanta area but was thinking about my one experience here and wanted to warn anyone who is interested in their muay thai class. It is by no means traditional muay thai starting from how they wrap their hands to the instructors themselves. My whole experience was bizarre- I told them that I had a little experience in muay thai (meaning about over a year) and they treated me like a complete beginner, and had a 10 year old teaching half of the class??? ( I mean she was good for her age ....but a child is definitely not qualified to teach a class. I even asked someone how long she had been training and they told me only 6 months). The actual instructor only paid about 2 minutes of attention to me and when he did he seriously treated me like I knew nothing. There was never any one to one attention to test how much I know, which I feel is very crucial to know how much experience someone has. I asked the instructor how he was trained too, and it wasnt even in traditional muay thai. I really wanted to like this place and the staff at the front were very welcoming but it was just such a strange experience to me and a hefty price to be asking for to not get ANY individualized attention. I get that its a group class but in my experience usually the instructor spends some quality time with each student to make sure they are grasping the concepts.

It is a shame that the management here is so poor because some of the classes are decent. I l like their boxing instructor a lot. My bad experience was that I bought a class package to work out 3 times a week in a class. One week into the class the instructor simply changed the time to a half hour later so I could no longer attend. I spoke to the managers Steve and Sarah and they refused to give me my money back. They only offer that I attend some classes that I personally dislike, such as their kickboxing class. This is unfair because I did not sign up for those classes and did not want to go to them. I had to get my bank involved to get my money back 7 months later which is ridiculous. As a business, if you do not provide the product you agreed to and cannot reach an agreement with your customer, you should return the money - its absurd that the managers here do not understand that fundamental and simple concept. Since the availability of these gyms are so saturated in Atlanta, I highly recommend going elsewhere.

Best kickboxing class experience ever! I highly recommend coming here if you are looking to get in shape fast. I tried out several different kickboxing classes in the Greater Atlanta Area and this one came out on top in my comparisons. I really lost weight and toned up in about 3 weeks. I am a dancer and teach dance in my free time. Typically, the focus is on technique and choreography in class so it is imperative to cross train with another sport to build stamina, agility, and physical fitness. From my point of view, this was the best (and fun) way to transform my body and dance performance. Ill list a few reasons why Knuckle Up (Buckhead) stood out to me:1. Staff Service - you can tell a lot about a gym/business by how they treat you and others. The moment I came in the front desk team was VERY WELCOMING without snarky remarks, judgments, or hassle. Everyone I encountered was enthusiastic, empathetic, and efficient! But it was the perfect amount of energy so I didnt feel pressured or annoyed. Sometimes I had odd requests or questions - they answered each one with a smile and concise response. Also, I called at weird hours and always got a person.2. Engaged Instructors - at KnuckleUp all of the instructors have been present and focused ...making sure that: A. You know the combination B. You are executing properly C. You are working hard. Other gyms seemed to have moments where instructors were in their own world and not as engaged at times or wouldnt really encourage you on a personal level.3. Quality of Workout - you get a GREAT workout here. Its not just light cardio or kicks and punches in the air like I experienced at some places. The quality of workout was so superb at KnuckleUp, you always leave dripping sweat but with enough energy and drive to return for the next class. Its amazing. Youll run, squat, push up ...everything for a full body workout before and in between executing boxing combinations. Finally, Id also like to share that the facility is great for those going to work after the AM classes. There are ample showers, lockers, and storage to keep your day flowing. Theres also gym equipment so you could even cancel your other gym memberships and workout here, which worked out well for me. Hope this helps!

I absolutely love KnuckleUp Fitness. I have been going for about 3 months and have learned some boxing techniques, gained muscle, and toned up taking the boxing classes.I struggled with gym memberships in the past. I didnt just want a place with a bunch of weights. I wanted to learn a skill. Knuckle Up is that place!

The instructors are great. Thats it.The studio itself is not well maintained. When I signed up CJ explained that there was an annual fee in January to make studio improvements. I doubt they used the money for the Sandy Springs location. The mats and bags have holes (I get it, they are punched a lot, but still need to be tended). They ask you to clean up after yourself at the end of class, but the paper towel dispenser was constantly broken and the spray bottles leaked. The cardio equipment is dirty and again, not maintained well. The machines squeak when used and were not always working. The ceiling fans above the machines are layered in dust.As others have mentioned, the contract signing was very pushy with just a sign here and here without much explanation or time. The result is that I entered into a contract that has been very difficult to end without much help from the office employees. A too bad attitude from staff and with the closures for the holidays they have continued to keep my contract running because no one is in the office to process my request.

I had a great experience as it relates to the classes and coaches, however, their contract is really sneaky and customer service sucks, when you are the one who needs them.Knuckle up requires 30 days notice and your account to be in good standing during the cancellation notice in order to close your account. They dont make the process any easier. I expressed my need to cancel membership in person and by email but they only count 30 days from the posting stamp from the mail. It turns out knuckle up does not prorate your tuition either. if cancellation notice (posting stamp) doesnt match your pay date you are required to pay another months tuition! In my case I pay every 14th but my 30 days notice was recorded as the 16th. On the 28th day of my notice, the 14th of the following month, knuckleUp charges the full next months tuition, so instead of 30 days, Im actually on a 58 days notice. The person in charge of cancellation, Sarah Hulling doesnt seem to be able to empathize with the situation nor escalate to her boss- the owner- to try finding a solution.

I enjoyed the gym and the classes, however I have been taken round and round in circles when trying to either cancel or place my account on freeze due to breaking my hand in a car accident. You will see multiple reviews on here where people were given the run around when trying to cancel. I tried multiple ways to reach out to the company and they did not get back to me until I reported the additional charges to my credit car company after multiple requests to cease payments being withdrawn along with Dr documentation. After my credit card company contacted their payment service, all the sudden I got a call back and email but my account still has not been cancelled despite following what their gym and payment service told me to do. Emailing Sarah Huling and Cancellations@knuckleupfitness. Ive sent multiple emails to cease withdrawals per my documentation and have continued to be charged and told I would not be refunded despite three emails where I provided proof of my condition and told them to cease withdrawals. I am now dealing with disputing with my credit card company because they have drafted me three times after all of my emails and calls. It is a shame their management or billing department try to give you the run around and never process cancellations or extend freezes when you obviously cant kickbox with a broken hand. The classes and teachers were great and I planned to return when my Dr. clears me and my hand is fully healed but after this whole ordeal and hundreds of dollars later I will not be going back and cannot recommend them to anyone.

I hate contracts because I had a bad experience with Ballys, however I joined this gym because I was tired of regular gym memberships and not getting the results I wanted. If you really want to get in shape and I mean, REALLY GET IN SHAPE, then join Knuckle Up. Its not like other gyms where the intensity of your workout depends on you and your motivation. In Knuckleup Fitness it doesnt matter how low your energy level is, the trainers will make you workout hard, sweet and burn calories no matter what.

I travel for work around the country and always try and arrange to train in martial arts at a gym in the area I am going to be staying in. KnuckleUp is the poster child for how to respond to an inquiry an inquiry, follow-up with a customer and deliver a superior training session.I reached out to KnuckleUp through their website about 3 days in advance of my trip and CJ returned my email with my options for training within 24 hours. I am focused on Jui Jitsu currently so I attended both a no-Gi and Gi training on two different days. Over the course of that time, I got to watch a kids class as well as participating in 3 classes myself. Below are some of my observations:Kids BJJ Class - In full disclosure, I instruct American Karate at a martial arts school on the weekends so I hold how a school treats their kids program at a premium. The instructor was phenomenal at getting at the kids level without losing the discipline of the martial art. Instruction was clear and well communicated and the instructor interacted with both the kids AND THEIR PARENTS. Very well done.No-Gi BJJ - This was run by an aspiring professional fighter with a background in BJJ. It was a great class with all skill levels, ages and sexes represented. Great detailed instruction that was experience appropriate. All of the participants were respectful (no egos on the mat at KnuckleUp) and pushed each other without being overly aggressive.Gi BJJ - I have to start by talking about Master Murgel is phenomenal. Old school instruction with no-nonsense but he takes the time to actually pay attention to those training. Individualized instruction on the finer points of the game. I learned more in the last 5 minutes I was on the mat when he was instructing a purple belt than some entire sessions I have had at other gyms. I participated in both his fundamentals and his sparring class and if I lived in Atlanta, I would sign up with KU just because he was there. What impressed me most about the BJJ programs were the diversity of the folks participating. I am a 42 year old man. Most programs I have participated in are dominated by young bucks looking to get in the fight game. Not at KU. Their BJJ program had a significant amount of young, old like me and female practitioners that were all pushing each other. Great experience overall and highly recommended. The only downside I saw while training at KU was the facilities RIGHT NOW. They recently experienced a fire that has 1/2 of the gym under construction. Made for close quarters and a lot of cross noise but it is obvious that this is a short term situation and not a long term item.Overall - 5 stars and you can bet that I will be back the next time I find myself spending an evening in Atlanta.

We first came to KnuckleUp in 2009 and we were immediately impressed with the gym and the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program. We have been happy members since. The Boxing/Kickboxing classes are always full and high energy, and there is a great mix of people that are members. Everything from people just working to get in a little better shape to hardcore athletes & fighters. KnuckleUp is always a friendly, family atmosphere, and we have never had reservations about bringing our children. The BJJ program is top notch, but what else would you expect for a place with an 8th Degree Black Belt Instructor? KnuckleUp puts out some of the top BJJ Athletes in Atlanta. KnuckleUp athletes dominate at competitions, and have won many team trophies, and too many medals to count. But it is not only for hard core BJJ athletes. There are also fundamental classes, and there is usually a nice mix of belts in all of the classes.Overall we have been very impressed, and are extremely happy customers. We highly recommend KnuckleUp!!

I have been going to this gym for about a year and a half. I started out with boxing four times a week and kickboxing (group classes) when ever I could find the time. The kick boxing classes are really great for cardio and toning. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is always good. The gym is decent as well. I have started Muay Thai and the training is very high quality. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for kickboxing, muay thai or jiu jitsu.

I am 52 and have belonged to gyms for over 30 years. This is by far the most worthwhile investment I have made for my physical and mental wellbeing. I have been a member of the Sandy Springs Knuckleup since 1 June 2011. The kickboxing clas...s is challenging to say the least, at first I didnt think I was improving but then realized that the more in-shape I became the harder I was working; therefore the workouts will never be easy. I will always leave exhausted and gasping for air. Isnt that what you really want out of your workout? As painful as they may be, I cant wait for the next one. BTW Ive lost 16 lbs! The instructors are amazing athletes, my favorite is Moe, they/she are motivating and inspiring. CJ (the boss) and all his staff promote a sense of belonging. Thanks Knuckleup! Mark F

They will lock you into a contract for as long as possible. There are ALOT of other options in Atlanta. Alliance, Unit 2 Fitness, Tiger Academy, etc. Knuckle up has some of the worse trainers with absolutely no actual experience. Ask anyone who has had any experience in MMA, BJJ, Kickboxing, etc. They will tell you that Knuckleup should be your last option because of their expensive prices and inexperienced trainers.

Talk about a roundhouse kick to the head. Even if you were to die, they would still charge your membership, and in order to CANCEL you physically have to send in a letter, proof of change of address, of moving or no longer near a KnuckleUpFitness. I hadnt step foot in that gym for 5 years and they are still charging me. On their billing site, MyiClubOnline account, I used it to cancel my membership, because there is that option right? Why not, I no longer lived in Atlanta and I was throwing my money away. But it never canceled, I emailed them and this was the response:
