I subscribed and paid for 3 months. Didnt receive the delivery for the term.3 months pass and I get a call everyday to resubscribe. They then told me that there were issues with delivery to my zip code and want me to pay for another subscription to prove themselves.You already have my money and are running behind on deliveries, How about delivering the copies I am already owed?
If only theres a way to post minus 5 stars, I would do that. I canceled the subscription on 1/12/2019 and was told I could not get a refund but had to let it run out. The paper stopped being delivered the next day and since then Ive called five times, each time being told a refund of $275.62 would be processed for me. The sixth time, just 10 minutes ago, I was told I could not get a refund and could only get the paper delivered again. I understand they may be on their last breath, but still they could have been honest and Id be okay with that the first time.
I can not think of any US site hosting as much malware and tracking bugs as the Mercury News. They actually attempt to block use of the site if you visit with privacy and security protection enabled.
Wow. I called them to inform about possible coupon theft and they said they cant do anything unless you are a subscriber. I found the local newspaper outlet had newspapers with missing coupons in EVERY PAPER. I gave them the shop info. They could have looked up the distribution network to find where the coupon theft was happening? I called them to inform and they were least bothered. If this was the level of service its a good thing I did not subscribe to them. End of the day I am buying the paper and you need to ensure the end user gets all the goodies you promised in your $2.50 Sunday paper?? What a joke you people are.Update 6/26/2017: I got the newspaper again this Sunday at rite aid milpitas. Again with missing high value coupons. Twice burnt. I will definitely be avoiding this newspaper from now on. Terrible!
READ THIS TO HELP US OUT I ordered a news paper subscription from a sales person in front of a grocery store she told me it would take 2 to 3 weeks i totaly forgot about it she never gave me a receipt with a phone number to call they keep charging me for 2 months after I called my credit card company to dispute and got credit then then started sending me paper billing I called to cancel they wouldnt credit me the first month because I didnt call them TELL THEM YOU WANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE DRIVER THAT YOU DIDNT GET ANY PAPERS AT ALL AND THEY WILL CHARGE THE DRIVER FOR THAT MONTH dont feel bad about doing it there keeping are money if we keep doing this it will get fixed lets help each other out by doing this thanks

I subscribed to SJMN online for yearly subscription in October 2018. I got the confirmation email with the order details. In April 2019, suddenly the paper deliveries stopped. When I contacted the customer service, I was told that, though, they have taken the money for annual subscription in October 2018, they have applied it for some other balance which I am not aware and never asked for any deliveries. The customer service acknowledged that what they did was without my knowledge and maybe illegal but they did not help me correct the record. I am trying to dispute this through my credit card company and will see what happens. But try to stay clear of SJMN and dont get fooled by their online subscription sign up. They will take your money and not provide you the services.
Sunday paper subscription that NEVER arrives unless you call, and even then it only comes some of the time. This is NOT the same paper I used to work for in my past life. Those kids on bike delivered more reliably than these kids in cars. And yes, I realize they arent kids but their sense of responsibility isnt even close to the real kids of yesteryear
They sent out people to sell newspapers which never arrived.. Forcefully continuous subscription. Never answered the phones in time.. They do like making it very hard to cancel the subscription
The paper is never here when i want it. I have to go outside every 15 minutes to look. Our last carrier had the papaer here by 6:30 at the latest now i am lucky if i get it by 8:00. What happened to the good service? Most people want their paper earlier than 8 am so they can readit before work or take it to work with them.

Similar trick. They send young boy at your door so sell the subscribe. for my first season of sub, ONLY recieved 1paper and thats it. Now they try to charge me another cycle even I triple made sure I am canceling it monthes ago. Also got two guy telling me it will be canceled at the end.Fast forward, now they send me a notice of new sub fee. Just made a phone call, the person (Amber) there told me she filed it for her superviser for my cancelation. Im pretty sure it was her monthes ago. Bunch lier
Worst customer service. Called them multiple times of missing news papers and still not fixed and blaming them that i have not called them. Each time need to explain same stuff to customer service as they dont keep logs of calls. What a nightmare and waste of time! They say it could take a month to figure out why paper is not getting delivered.
Whatever you do never take the Mercury News go never let you quit and Ill never stop calling you so I pulled my ads and Ill never use them again hopefully youll do the same so if you run an ad in the mercury news I will not do business with your business
I have only received 2 Sunday newspapers since I have started this subscription! Ive called everytime to complain but nothing has changed. I was promised to get my last Sunday newspaper this week and still havent received it and now I did not get yesterdays Sunday newspaper! OMG... what is going on with your newspaper delivery persons! IM HATING IT AND WILL NEVER GET THIS NEWSPAPER AGAIN.
I foolishly answered a phone call survey from the mercury news, and somehow now I have a subscription (despite being explicitly volunteered that they were not selling me a subscription).edit: I have now spent a whole day waiting for customer service to call me back, since by phone is the only way to cancel.
