I’ve been a member for about a week and this gym is just ok. Yes, it’s clean and has a fresh look and feel, but it’s pretty lacking in a number of waysEquipment: I was excited to see four power racks and platforms, with two additional squat racks, but as it turns out since they’re missing basics like an incline bench or seated overhead rack, these are really “versatile” stations. Good luck doing any exercises in that actually required this equipment.Dumbbells only go to 100; most of the cable machines only go to 95.Crowd: Seem nice enough, but is mostly clueless. Lots of “curls in the squat rack” types.
The staff is really nice and friendly at this location. In addition, the always have clean towels and the bathroom/facility is always nice. But the clientele tho.. oof. Let’s just say it’s not an lifetime fitness or equinox crowd. Lol
The trainers here are fantastic. I would recommend Mid Market a million times over. It truly is a shame I no longer live in the Bay Area. Best part is they also offer virtual training sessions! I would check this gym out if you want high quality personal training.
If you’re into Olympic lifting this is your place. If you want to train calves, it is not.Weird ratios of machine types
Fitness SF repeatedly charged my credit card without authorization. In 2020, Fitness SF represented that it would honor customer freeze requests due to the pandemic. On three occasions in 2020, I wrote to Fitness SF that I wanted my account frozen and indefinitely suspended. On December 31, 2020, despite having my express direction not to do so, and WITHOUT PROVIDING NOTICE, Fitness SF began charging my credit card through March. Their staff has refused to provide a refund.
Had a terrible experience with one of the trainers. They are focused on achieving “results” — along whose metric, I don’t know. Certainly never asked to achieve a certain look, but the trainer pushed and pushed beyond what I was comfortable with. Training consisted of random weighlifting exercises with little to no stretching and from what I know now, an extremely and unrealistically accelerated timeline. Now I have permanent nerve injury and can’t exercise hardly at all. Thanks.
The City has shut down indoor fitness and Fitness SF is still trying to bill full price for January membership. The are saying I can exercise outside under a bridge or rent a car to drive to another Bay Area county. This allows them to charge 90$ for a month when Covid is at its highest and the gym on my credit card statement is closed. Very dishonest! Cancelled my membership as did 3 others I know. I know the gyms are hurting but don’t take it out in your customers by pulling a fast one. As of this review they still refuse to credit me for January despite the gym being closed (I don’t want to go to another location in the cold/rain for a full price rate).
Overcrowded facilities and unethical business practices, so your standard gym. After 9 months of inactive membership and while the location was physically closed during shelter in place, they restarted my membership and started billing me. Claimed they were providing a service because they have outdoor gyms at other locations in the bay area, like Oakland and Marin!
Absolutely love Fitness SF especially the Mid Market location!! I have been going here for almost a year and it is always a pleasure to go to this gym! It is always super clean and odor free! All the classes Ive tried have been very high quality with very knowledgeable instructors. Ive enjoyed their cycling classes a lot more than soul cycle!I also got a fantastic personal trainer, Denise Acain, who has strengthened my back enough to get rid of all the pain! Shes also gotten me through my first two trimesters of pregnancy feeling fit and back-pain free.Hands down the best gym Ive ever been a part of!
I was pleasantly surprised to walk in and find 6 power racks, with Rogue and Texas power barbells and plates, in addition to all the machines you expect. About as good as you could hope for as a lifter.
Great deal, good equipment, clean bathroom, and friendly staff. The sales people were super helpful, and they even provided a free training session with an amazing trainer. There is usually enough equipment available except during peak hours before and after work (Plenty of bikes + treadmills, but I wish they would have more space for weightlifting). Equipment is overall in good working order and clean (some random equipment break, but they seem to fix them quickly). They also have a decent selection of classes. Bathroom and showers are nice, but they could use more hair dryers.Plus the location is so central and right next to the Market.
Great gym
I found this Fitness SF location very clean and organized. They staff are caring.
Great gym with friendly staff, big/modern facilities and a wide variety of instructor lead classes. This is a great place to work out, but I would recommend avoiding the after work rush 5-7:30p as the gym is absolutely flush with people and its difficult to get your workout in, uninterrupted. The prices are SF, but more reasonable the more time you commit. I paid 12 months up front and waived the initiation fee - my equivalent monthly payment comes up to $65/mo. Still a decent chunk of money but the guilt gets me to the gym at least 4 times a week.
Husband finally talked me into burning off the baby weight, i do love it here, nice and clean equipment and the bathrooms are spotless! love the afternoons because they are quiet and calm, not too many peps then. Classes are great!
I love how everything is arranged and how it looks. The yoga studio is beautiful and the instructors are really good! I only wish there was an incline bench press for barbell but I tolerate it because everything else is amazing. It does get crowded after 5 but I usually train at noon so this doesnt affect me.
Always clean. They fix their equipment timely. Nice locker rooms and spin room.
Clean facility and helpful staff. Penny-pinching from management will make you sweat way more than any workout. Be really mindful as to when you decide to cancel your gym subscription. They will charge you for an extra months fee stating a bogus cancellation policy. Totally ripped me off.
This is our regular gym and it has gotten a bit more packed recently due to all of the 2020 Resolutioners, but people are willing to share Squat racks/Olympic weightlifting spaces so that is helpful. Theres a space for doing pliometric workouts, a nice yoga room, rooms for biking classes/Zumba classes, stretching areas, a punching bag, dumbbell weights up to 100 pounds, and more!
Good equipment, clean and spacious. Love working out there. The only problem is the most of the staff, not friendly at all, a lot of bad attitude, if youre a good looking girl or youre willing to pay for a PT then is when they get all smiley!! thats what u call bad customer service.

Very crowded after work. 4 big multi station squat racks but only two flat benches and no incline bench. Minimal open floor space.
Since the moment I learned they were opening I was so excited. The gym has state-of-the-art equipment, clean and organized. New pieces of equipment that help with new creative workouts. Staff is great, the trainers are the best in the city. Locker rooms are amazing, clean, simple, nothing like old smelly gyms in SF. Just please stop accepting more people, its starting got get a little crowded. Awesome gym.
The gym is on the smaller side but the equipment is well maintained and they’ve dedicated a nice portion to squat, bench and deadlift platforms. The staff are real friendly and it’s often not too crowded. Locker rooms and showers are nice and everything feels clean. A good gym for your everyday needs.
So swanky! Everything is new and nice. They have a crazy version of a treadmill (in addition to regular ones), they have a climbing treadmill, all kinds of weights, classes, excellent personal trainers, and the showers are the height of luxury. I love the soap, shampoo, and conditioner there!
Good selection of weighted machines and loads of cardio equipment. Several squat racks and platforms for all lifts. Free weights area is on the small side but that doesnt detract from your workout as you can still get a bench. If not then its easy to substitute in a weight loaded machine exercise instead as there is a lot of choice. Plenty of space for core work and some useful machines too. Staff were very friendly!
Great gym with fantastic equipment and free weigh set. Its very clean and ambient. Highly recommend it.
The gym was too small the day it opened. Every space of the gym is crowded from open until close, so youll wait for weights to free up at any hour of the day. Fitness SF has done a great job building and equipping the the space with good variety of weights and machines, but they need better crowd control or more locations -- its the only newer, mid-level gym in the mid market area.
This gym has every piece of equipment I could want and more. The equipment itself is usually clean and well maintained. The location at 10th and Market is also really convenient for me.The reason for the lower score is that it is an extremely packed gym before and after work hours and its very difficult to gain access to the equipment you might need on any given day.
This is probably one of the better Fitness SF locations (Ive only been to the 4 locations in city limits) and it is bar far better than any other gym options in the city. I did a free trial at just about everywhere but for overall value Fitness SF is it. The group classes come with the membership and make really increase the value and the gym and locker rooms are clean.
Perfect location for after work. the locker rooms have key pad locks and are more spacious than other fitness sf locations. the yoga room is clean and quiet
Well equipped, clean facilities. Motivating, knowledgeable trainers. Many weight racks, friendly staff and clients.
A great gym for the after work crowd. The classes a excellent and the space and equipment are extensive.
Great gym!! Really quality staff and equipment. Theres not enough power racks but thats true of every gym. The class instructors are good and varied and the bathrooms are great. Well stocked. No one ever properly reracks their weights but thats whatever.
Underwhelming, low-energy, no-community atmosphere. The staff and trainers create the atmosphere in a gym so its a bummer when its obvious that the employees—including managers, front desk workers and spin class instructors—would rather be somewhere else. This lack of care translates into poorly maintained equipment and a no one cares that youre here vibe.
Good space, about 4 or 5 power racks on 3 different people can deadlift, squat and bench. Opens early, closes late. Staff are helpful, towels are fresh, showers are fine. Crowded after work.
Great location. Clean facility. Big space. Nice crowd working out. Friendly staff.
This gym has everything you need. Its no frills, but dont get that confused with the no frills of a 24 hr fitness. This place has all the equipment you need and nothing you dont. 4 squat platforms, 4 benchs, ropes, sleds, free weights, monkey bars and DL platforms. Everything is brand new and since the personal training has their own private gym, the place is never crowded.
The combination lockers are great seeing as other locations havent gotten them yet. The only issue I have is with the thin towels they dont dry you off, the forever 1-3 malfunctioning treadmills and their showers ( very out dated and need repairs).
I went in to sign up for a member ship and was treated so poorly, handed off like I wasnt to be helped or not taken seriously. I wont be returning for the membership. Good riddance.
Well furnished and equipped gym. Has ample squat racks and Olympic platforms.
Nice gym, good equipment, great location, but it does get crowded at peak hours, which I do my best to avoid! Its great if you have the luxury of working out when everyone else is in the office.
Their Mid-Market location is taking the tech workout game to the next level. Yes, we know it gets crazy busy throughout the day. It definitely makes the average gym rat cringe but as long as youre ok working out in close proximity to everyone else with the same health-conscious goals then get to work! The machine/weights/foam rollers/you name it, are always clean and ready for use - made in part by the clientele who clean up after themselves as well as the friendly staff who make it that way. Variety is key here. Theres a little bit of everything to suite everyones needs and the trainers seriously kick-ass. If youre ready to get into the best shape of your life, make the commitment and sign up to seek help! Everyone has your best interest in mind.
Outstanding, just like every single fitness SF I’ve visited. Clean, nice equipment and friendly staff.
Great gym, pretty popular so can be busy at peak times. But cycling and yoga instructors are top class in the city.
Awesome workout spot. Lots of equipment, free weights, punching bags, great staff
This gym is clean and the equipment is well maintained. I really like the separate rooms for cycling, yoga and the other group x classes.
Great gym, plenty of equipment and kept very clean. Staff is friendly too. My only knock is that it can get incredibly busy after work which makes it difficult to really appreciate any of the aforementioned perks.
Good new shiny gym. Pleasant to work out in. Having a pool or sauna would be a kill.
Nice gym but too small and too crowded. Even if you go at what youd expect to be off-peak, say 2 PM, its still packed because of the personal trainers taking up space with clients. Way too much space taken up by cardio area, as well as a spin studio that more often than not sits unused.
All good, stuff are friendly but at 5-7pm is so busy, don’t have space so you have to wait for all machines
The best gyym! The evening front desk team is the best, the morning team always kinda rude
I really like this gym. Its newer and clean and has nice locker rooms with digital locks that (mostly) work, tons of equipment, and three dedicated studios so there are multiple types of classes offered simultaneously. Ive found many of the yoga teachers to be more or less on par with other pricy studios in the city. The spin classes arent my favorite but the bikes are really nice and the color-changing displays are sort of interesting. The membership rates are reasonable for SF, and membership includes entry to all the Fitness SFs, which is perfect if you live and work in different neighborhoods. My two criticisms are that it can get absurdly crowded at like 6pm on weekdays - like you will have trouble finding an empty (working) locker - and that I wish they had face wash and face lotion in the locker room.
I love the Treadwall, TRX, yoga room, hot teas, and clean showers. I wish it was open later than midnight and that the monthly membership was more affordable. Both gym training sessions were great.
Is an Awesome Gym and their staff are friendly and helpful And if you are looking for a Trainer you need to Ask for Dennis
Ive worked out at many gyms in SF and honestly this is my least favorite. While the equipment is brand new and the TRX area is nice, the overcrowding here is unbearable. Getting a locker, finding a bench, or using a squat rack is nearly impossible in peak hours. If youre a working professional that likes to workout in the evening hours, Id definitely avoid it.The personal trainers are also consistently reserving equipment for their own use with clients as well. In a gym this small, its just inconsiderate. On weekends, its great.
The staff is great. The equipment is in excellent condition. It can get very crowded during lunch Date right after work.
Is an Awesome Gym and their staff are friendly and helpful And if you are looking for a Trainer you need to Ask for Dennis
Good gym. No sauna or steam room or pool maybe because of the Twitter building regulations. Regular showers.
Fitness SF commits themselves to providing clean, well-maintenanced facilities and machines for their members. They are professional and courteous, and have a wide variety of programs and training available. A year from now, youll wish you had started today.
Nice gym, friendly staff, clean and great amenities. Convenient midtown location
Beautiful facility, but its across from NEMA so that certain mid market technology clientele coldly rears its ugly, entitled, self involved, passive aggressive head. EDIT AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: management refuses to address sitting and texting issue verbally, by signage or by new member orientation. I get along with everybody, provided management does its part to preserve equipment sharing culture, not enable sit/lie/text on machines.
I hate this place! Evening workouts at this beautiful, but over subscribed, gym are impractical. About a 60:40 cardio to weight area ratio that really needs to be rebalanced, the weight area is packed, the cardio, not so much. The mens locker room is small, has few benches, not enough showers, and has finicky coded locks that everybody hates...but it is clean. Great spin bikes and classes.
Great gym, very clean, staff is friendly. Soooo busy all the time though. Hard to use equipment at peak hours.
The leg extension machine has been broken for months. I’d appreciate it if there is transparency from management as to when a replacement machine has been ordered and when will it arrive and why it’s taking so long
I go here 3 times a week or more. Great facilities and friendly staff.
Its huge. If its a workout you want, youll find it here. They have day passes that include the classes, which are spectacular.
I love everything about this place. I go there despite living closer to other Fitness SF locations.
Decent equipment to use for work outs that i need.
Their biggest and best gym, imo. While Soma might have the stuff for the big huge power lifters, this is easily the best training gym for the rest of us.
This is a great gym with tons of class options. Always very clean and cheaper than most upscale gyms around the area
It is a good place to work out. Good classes with qualified instructors
Clean, good equipment, staff is nice. Crowded but still manageable after work. Playlist is consistently awful EDM Coldplay remix garbage.
Very nice gym with great natural lighting. The classes offered here are awesome and the staff and trainers are amazing!
They got a gym here, you work out, you get stronger
State of the art equipment. Definitely crowded during the after work rush.
This location is probably one of the few that attracted some of the most irresponsible people. Towels on the ground in the locker room everywhere and people just leave them?
Super clean, friendly staff, so much equipment, classes are fun, trainers are friendly and always willing to help. Love it!
Clean locker room, nice equipment, able to complete my workout even when the place is busy.
Location is good as well the price. But just too many cardio and lifting area is too small. Good yoga room.
Tight space. I don’t understand why people go there, sit around and look at their phones texting. It’s so different from other gyms I’ve been to where people bust their ass and sweat. I usually have to go their after 8pm to avoid the crowd.
Super Clean.
This gym is located next to the Twitter building. Across from the gym is the Market with high end groceries as well as some really delicious spots to grab something to eat quick (Poke, pizza, sandwiches, etc.). Additionally there are some really nice benches to eat and a courtyard to relax in.The gym itself is really nice. It is busy all times of the day with its least busy hours in the middle of the day. It has all the equipment (weights and cardio) you would expect from Fitness SF: brand new, variety, sectioned. Furthermore, like its other locations it offers cardio classes: yoga, spin, and cardio (zumba, cxworks, bodypump, etc.). Great gym, nice staff, free tea, personal trainers available. I like this chain of fitness gyms.
Super clean gym with towel service. Best value around.
For a monthly rate of $70 (mine was discounted), the availability of group classes like cycling, yoga, bodypump, pilates, etc more than make up for it if you get to attend a group class even just once or twice a week (compared to other pricier bootcamps or yoga focused locations). However, some group classes do fill up fairly quickly, so its best to be there 15-30 minutes before certain classes just to be sure you get a spot.
No free trial training for Non-Residents of SanFrancisco! So unfriendly! Go try CRUNCH instead! Its great!
Good vibe, music is always a good workout mix, everything one needs for a workout, trainers, equipment, the showers are heavenly with towelservice
Excellent. Just avoid the after work rush hour(s).
Solid gym, tons of squat racks, and lots of places to do your own workout
75% as nice as Equinox at 1/3 the price... No doubt
Been a member for 3-4 years, great staff, clean great equipment
Way too small and too busy for the amount of people here. The gym is nice, but expect to spend 50% of your time just waiting for a squat rack or bench if you come after 4 AM
Very clean gym. Well maintained. Friendly staff
Decent gym, but even more overcrowded than most
Staff is super nice, great machines, always clean!
Good place to work out but gets really crowded because location is close to many tech companies like Twitter, Uber and square.
Huge space, nice equipments but not so much if you are looking for a functional training. Friendly staff and a 30 dollars day pass
Nice oly platforms. Not too crowded. Regrettable that you cant drop the weights.
This gym is great so long as you never plan on cancelling. They make it impossible to cancel since they demand a cancellation via email and their cancellation email address conveniently bounces emails.
