Great gym. Big enough space for the amount of people that come in. The trainers are VERY good here as well. My only complaints are the closed weekend hours during covid, short weekday hours, and high price. Pool could be a bit bigger too with space for only 3 lanes.
Not a fan of the service there a bit rude and that’s not when I want when signing up for a gym
I’ve been going her for about a year and love it. Everyone from the coaches to the staff at the front desk are amazing!
Ive been a member for a little over a month and Ive never regretted something so quickly. The membership is $250 a month - too much money for the issues Ive dealt with thus far. First of all, I was double charged 5 days ago and I still havent gotten my money back. If you have a job with regular hours, good luck finding a machine at rush hour and then after you work out, you have to wait in line for a shower and you are already dealing with an overcrowded locker room. The staff isnt helpful at all, which again, at $250 Id expect a lot better customer service. Theres no way Im giving them my money for another year with this nonsense.
Its a nice gym, but not great as far as Equinoxes go. Its fairly small and the intermediate-level weight training equipment is fairly limited (theyre missing several items which are generally standard-issue at equinox, like a calf raise machine, setup for tricep dip and leg raises, and a barbell row machine). The only location I’ve been to without an Olympic weightlifting platform.
A few things to know about this Equinox:Has a poolFairly spacious locker roomLockers have locks built inPoor flow (some areas get very crowded)Poor airflow during peak timesThe architecture is impressive (bathroom entrance is old vault doorThis isn’t my home gym, but the $200 price tag seems a bit steep compared to other locations like the High Line and Flatiron in NYC.(My home gym is Santa Monica)
Not a great Equinox. The positive thing is that it is located in a grand old bank building with high ceilings and old vaults as locker rooms, which is cool. The downside is that it get EXTREMELY crowded.I also had a bad experience with a staff member – after being told by a woman at the front desk that I was free to use a membership office to do work call (before 9am), an incredibly obnoxious trainer barged and started screaming at me that I couldn’t be in there, which was very disruptive. Maybe this was an isolated occurrence or a symptom of a poorly run place. Regardless it sucked.
Beautiful space and up to date equipment. Wide variety of programming. But the Pine Street club gets unmanageable with crowds in the mornings. For the price paid here Id like to feel as if nothing could ever go wrong. I do get that feeling at the Market Street location - the much larger size just makes all the difference.
The location is perfect for FIDI and with the offering of a pool, strong yoga classes, I can really supplement my morning routine. Kylie at the front desk is the best! Shes saved me so many times, and her smile and cheer in the morning are a great touch of motivation. Positive energy shouldnt be underestimated. Especially when your not fully awake and trying to convince yourself your early morning workout is going to be worth it!
The best thing about Equinox is their salt water pool--no chlorine, so much better than the usual. This large facility is in the old Pacific Stock Exchange building. Very nice amenities and bath products, eucalyptus scented steamroom. They often have low key social events. I recommend swimming here.
I like the equinox because it is a revolving lounge. The service is exceptional and the views outstanding. For the experience the cost is well worth it. It is spendy but as I said for the views alone are worth the cost. So I consider the meal free!
I’m so disappointed in Equinox. I was a member for over 7 years. I love the staff, and the yoga and spin classes are great. But the management is awful. My monthly rate went from $170 to $205 per month with no notice and they gave me the run around when I complained. I’ll miss the convenience but decided to switch to CorePower and the JCC for better rates, more classes and stellar management.
Overated and expensive, same teachers and classes as anywhere else, basic facilities, really cant see any justification for the price, and even once you sign on theyre always trying to sell you training for more than youd pay anywhere else. Youd think basic services would be included at over $3000 a year.
I was hesitating about my rating... This is a good-very good gym if we compare it to some of the 24h fitness or golds in the city. It is the gym I frequent but I still think it is not the best in SF. I am missing some basic machines and a better location of exercising areas. Good for the Keihls products and the fresh towels. The spa is not bad either...
The gym definitely has a different setup being in an old bank building. The locker rooms downstairs are in the old vault, and you have to walk through the massive vault door to enter. Pretty cool!
For a $200 + per month gym this place is sorely disappointing. I have been to many Equinox locations and the main problem with this one is that they lack a lot of basic equipment (particularly for abs) and it gets way too crowded right before and after work. I understand that it is an old building and there are space limits, but the solution to that is to limit the membership in some way which does not appear to be happening. In fact, I think it is unsafe to have people exercising and using weights within inches of each other. One wrong step and you could find yourself getting crushed or smashed by a barbell. In my opinion, this location is only good for doing cardio.
Worth the price you pay! There are so many different classes you can take and the trainers are awesome! The locker rooms are equipped with everything you need - blow dryers, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, qtips, etc. Pine street is a great location if you work downtown.
Ive been a member for over 4 years, Im terminating my membership this month after multiple frustrating experiences with management. I tried to talk to the manager about cleanliness issues and overall lesser quality on the products like shaving foam and razor blades, not only my feedback was never addressed but when I emailed about other issues like billing or the latest increase of the membership fees, their responses were utterly unprofessional and rude. I have to say its sad to see they neglect 100% its members feedback plus they have a terrible attitude about it. At least the current manager. I used to go to Equinox Sports club (on Market St) and never had any issues with management there. Ill take my monthly $300 elsewhere. The amenities, equipment, instructors, and classes are nice but management is simply terrible.
As far as the Elite gyms go in SF, Equinox has been a long time competitor. With the opening of their Union Street location, its about time that Pine St steps up its game! They have all of the right offerings - a big open floor, mat areas, fantastic trainers, amazing spa and a fully-loaded locker room. However, said offerings have seen better days (trainers and spa aside! theyre always wonderful)... I look forward to the day that they renovate the locker rooms, and move in an Earth Bar. That existing food bar falls short of great. For the rates theyre charging, its time to bring this location up to the high standards of the other locations.
Really expensive gym. Has a nice pool that that doesnt get too busy. Best times to go are around 2pm as I find its not too packed. The gym itself doesnt have too much equipment, so if youre just doing cardio, its fine. Not a lot of weight machines. Overall pretty nice though!
Great gym. Terrible management. They aren’t informed about services, and aren’t empowered to answer customer inquiries. Employees are low motivated and don’t seem focused on customer experience or delivering value properly. Team emails incorrect or confusing information about membership, personal training and more.Small weights and resistance bands are always missing or out of stock with only one set of 5, 8 lbs and rest on rack start at 10 lbs. this is discriminatory against people who need lighter weights and is not accessible without asking front desk. This is the best worst of all the terrible gyms in SF.
Best gym experience hands down! I love this gym and the classes so much I often use my time there to help jump start my day at 6:30 a.m. Danny the spin instructor Tuesday and Thursday mornings does a great job motivating you to do your absolute best and sometimes more than you ever thought. I love the students who are equally dedicated to fitness as they are often there each and every morning working out like real athletes. The great amenities arent anything to sneeze at either. The standard line thats used at equinox is Khiels products -- from your body washes to lotions. Its pricey club but def worth it!
👎👎👎 Be careful what you sign up for. Ive been a member for over a year. Once you give them your credit card, theyll keep milking it for as long as they can. Ask them explicitly about hidden fees, membership minimum requirements, and cancellation policy. Theres a lot of stuff in the terms & conditions, stuff that youre not gonna like. Its overcrowded and simply not worth the money. I would not recommend it to friends. 🏋️🙅♀️🙅♂️
If youre looking for the premium of gyms, look no further. Here it is!Service - Excellent services available on site: classes, quality trainers, massage therapists, facials. The staff are very friendly, think, Nordstorms but at a gym.Amenities - Have free Kiehls skin products in the locker room, towel serviceLocation - Great location if you work in the financial district. Its in a building that use to house the old stock exchange. Youll see the Roman architecture as you walk the steps into the building.Cost - If you want premium, be ready to pay a premium. Initiation $300; Monthly Dues $180Recommendation - Yes, I would recommend this but make sure to consult with your bank account first. She always has the last word, or the joke is on you.
Two fronds I Love This olives you willTo
I am a member in Boston and this location is up to par. Bottom line is this is a high end gym. Memberships without any employer discounts will run around $150 a month. The machines are on the newer side, they offer a wide variety of high quality classes, and have a great staff. The locker rooms at this facility and their other locations are the real high point. They are super clean and use Kiehls products throughout. They also have a steam room that is infused lightly with eucalyptus. The high price of this gym helps keep out most riff raffs and creeps that can be found at lower end gyms.
Terrible management. Dont waste your money here where they dont value you as a customer!
Worst GYM ever. The place is all smoke and mirrors. Its an artsy fartsy place that is not designed to be a gym. Its over crowded with not enough floor space and not enough equipment with always a long wait to get on anything. The staff are all pretend nice in a condescending way. The poor Personal Trainers look burned out like they have not slept in months and unhealthy. This place is owned by a big Wall Street investment company. They only care about the bottom line and treat people like cattle. Avoid.
Great facilities, staff and classes. Highly recommended!
I love this gym. Music always blasting, great modern equipment. Excellent classes such as spin and TRX, although I wish they offered more TRX classes in the evenings - I would go much more often just for that! A small pool with 3 split lanes - adequate, and I would love more. A cool old building as well. Looking forward to the new one that opens on Union Street - I hope that has a bigger pool and more TRX classes!
Salt-water lap pool, eucalyptus scented tools, and yoga classes led by the well known and loved Buddy Macuha? SIGN ME UP!This isnt a typical gym. Equinox is an experience. The facility was a bank once upon a time and it has been repurposed into a multi-story fitness experience. The lowest level is a spa, pool, and locker room (complete with steam room), the second floor houses most of the fitness machines and yoga and cycling studio, while the top holds more cardio machines and fitness classes.Ive brought many friends here and referred many members. If you want to be in a place where you feel comfortable and challenged, equinox is worth a look.
Small selection of athletic apparel....kind of expensive given the quality. inside the equinox gym which is also an expensive gym. the quality is pretty good, but given the price, i wouldnt recommend the place for just everyday activewear.
Pretty useless in the morning early hours considering their earth bar isnt open.
One of the best gym in the Fi-Di district. Recently redesigned the work out floors and dressing rooms. The floor layout is good with plenty of top of the line equipment. The dressing room now include the self locking lockers which eliminates the need to carry extra weight in the form of your personal locker. That idea is appreciated even thought at first claimed some confusion. The number of shower stalls has increased significantly and has practically eliminated the weight which used to be a common place at the peak hours. The lockers are well maintained but it never hurts to launch a guy with the vacuum to suck all body hair from the floor on a continues bases. The swimming pool is very nice. I did not noticed any major changes after the remodel. The store upstairs is well stocked and has absolutely everything you might need during or after workout. I used it multiple times and always was able to find good quality products like earbuds,t-shirst, workout gloves and lotions at a reasonable cost. The Fuel cafe is awesome. Gives your the perfect balanced meals before and after workout. The simple wholesome food is great.I used the services of the the clubs spa several times. The price for massages is at the top of the price tag but the quality of the massage and service itself is superlative. You get what you paid for.Overall its a fantastic club which offers a variety of classes, personal training, and great feel of an open space.Love it.
A workout never felt this luxurious. Not as big and impersonal as its competition but with every amenity.
Equinox in SF gets a somewhat bad rap on Yelp, probably because its crazy expensive (even after corporate discounts) and small compared to other locations. But lets be honest.... the amentities are amazing, the staff are all super friendly, and you dont need to fight for treadmills. Here are some highlights:Pros:- Pool: They have a small pool with 3 lanes, not a common offering at nearby gyms. It gets crowded and you cant reserve a lane, but you can double up. I think the best pool in the area is at Sports Club LA, the gym at the Four Seasons on Market St.- Amenitites: Khiels. Need I say more?? They also sell Lululemon and other items at the store, all of which they will price match. Havent had a chance to check out their cafe, but the smoothies look good.- Equipment: There are actually enough treadmills to go around, and they also have cool machines less commonly available like special treadmills for people with bad knees. The equipment isnt especially unique, but clean and more spacious than Crunch.- Referral Bonus: Dont forget to refer people, you get $100 or so in credit that you can apply towards your membership, spa, or other services!Cons:- Crowded Classes: I am not a huge fan of the classes because they were a bit boring and the ones I did like were so cramped that I couldnt even do the exercises (Beach Body). Some classes are totally available (cycling). None of them are by reservation, and I dont believe they limit class size.- Confusing Hard to Navigate Layout: I also think that the layout of the floors is really confusing and it makes it hard to get around.Overall, if you have the money to spend Equinox is a cool spot but Id rather go to Sports Club LA for a top-tier gym that has a nicer pool, more space, and more classes. For those with basic gym needs (e.g. treadmill and classes), Id recommend Crunch and be prepared for even worse claustrophobia.
Great facility in the FiDi
Great classes & instructors. The facilities seem to be outdated (compared to NYC clubs)
Great gym if you love Fox News, constantly have it playing on five TVs distracting from your workout
I love the people, the service, and the amenities of this facility!
Definitely not worth the price. Super packed during the week
If you want to overpay, this is the place. the quality is ok, but for the price not really worth it
Expensive but great massage in the spa
I love coming here, but it is so expensive.
Beautiful facility
Cool clothing!
