I’ve been looking for a fun complement/active recovery to lifting at the gym, and Bar Method fit that bill perfectly and more! The workouts are low impact, which—as I enter deeper into my 30s—I find far more sustainable. I’m still learning the full repertoire of Bar Method moves, but therein lies the fun and challenge! The instructors are exceptional, too—they really watch everyone carefully to ensure proper form is maintained throughout the class. That honestly was key for me in choosing a barre studio. Bar Method Marina has been so welcoming from the get-go, and I look forward to challenging myself further with their classes!
Amazing instructors always watching us carefully to have good workout in safe way. It is just like taking a private Pilates/ballet class in group class. Everyday is different experience, and the class never gets easier for some reason. I see difference and changes in my body - you know the area that we always wanted to trim down/firm up! Everyday Bar workout is my must have to start my day great.......

Boutique studio, very clean, bright and nice. Got a nice shower facility as well.Workout from the Bar Method is always amazing, I break sweat every time especially with the thigh workout. Small but very precise movements gives me a very effective yet safe workout experience. Instructors are all very professional, gives each individual a full attention and help them correct the form to perform each movement accurately and maximize the impact.Highly recommend.
I have been going to bar method regularly 3-4x per week since March 2019 and I’ve seen incredible changes in my endurance, strength and posture. I highly recommend this 1-hr full body workout for anyone who wants to build lean, toned muscles (even in areas you never knew there could be muscles!) and transform their body! I always want to highlight how the instructors at this location are top notch! I recommended taking classes from Jen H, Kiesha and Cynthia!
Great class options and the studio is always clean. The teachers are very helpful for new comers and make you feel at home. Teresa is the best!
Excellent workout! Injury free and an impactful way of gradually sculpting the body. While all the teachers at the Marina Bar Method classes are great, for me attending sessions with Jen has made a huge difference. I barely manage to survive in her class but I return to it each time knowing how much it is helping me to get stronger!

I have been addicted to Bar Method since my first class back in Oct 2010 at the Walnut Creek studio. I still cant remember what drove me to sign up, but it was the best decision I have ever made. And the past 7+ years, it has been my (almost) daily hour of sanity that keeps me happy and healthy! I would recommend everyone in search of a low-impact, high-results class to give it a try!
I love Bar Method, I’ve tried every barre class in SF and this is by far my favorite. The classes aren’t redundant like many others. Bar Method has many different excercises for each muscle group/part of class and the instructors can mix and match to keep things interesting. The instructor are very hands on, focusing on form to make sure each person is getting the most out of the class. Highly recommend.

Its the best workout for women that Ive found. It targets the areas that need targeting, and leads to improved posture and flexibility. The instructors are well trained and very helpful.

The Bar Method is a fabulous workout. Take class at least three times per week and you’ll have a beautiful toned body. You will see changes in your body weekly.

I admit it, four months in and Ive become addicted to the Bar Method. I take about four-five classes per week as my schedule allows.I transitioned to Bar after injuring myself bodybuilding and couldnt find an exercise that really motivated me. Bar Method is that exercise.Im one of a few guys in the classes. But I can tell you the core workout and body resistance exercises are for real. I find them consistently challenging and I like the muscles they work out.The focus on protecting and strengthening around the knees is key for me and helps give me a base for running and biking. Ive overstretched and injured myself at yoga in the past. I like that Bar Method is more attentive to not overdoing it, protecting joints, while focusing on strength.
Fantastic workout and great teachers. If you’ve done bar before, Marina sets the standard. Students and teachers take it seriously and you will get the workout of your life. I highly recommend.

After an injury years ago, I thought I would never be able to move the same way again. The Bar Method has helped me regain my flexibility and the safe postures have eliminated my back pain. I highly recommend to anyone wanting smart, intentional movement.

One of the most difficult workouts I have ever done, but super fun and upbeat instruction kept me going. Very intense exercises, kind of a combo of ballet and pilates, this system will certainly tighten you up if you stick with it. Hard to park, so walk or jog over for an extra bit of cardio.
My roommate drags me to this on a (somewhat) regular basis.Plusses:- It is a fantastic strength workout that will leave your muscles sore for a day and really help tone over time- The studio space is gorgeous - really well kept, well lit, smells good (hard for a workout spot)Minuses:- If youre new, they REALLY get in your face about inappropriate technique - which is good, but I will say it can honestly be embarrassing at a certain point to be corrected constantly when youre new to it. All levels can be in the beginner class so it can be intimidating.- It requires a pretty high level of flexibility to do some things in the class- Dont forget socks or they direct you to pick some up in the used sock bin. That is a s lovely as it sounds.- Just as an FYI for any guys, it is all girls. At least the classes Ive been to.
Trendy Marina work out, where lulu is the only acceptable uniform. One hour long work out that utilizes principals of ballet and pilates. Not cheap but they do offer work study.
Kathleen at the Marina Bar was the best instructor! Wow! Will go back for sure to take her class.
This class is okay. I am a regular of reformer pilates (Core 40 in the city, Core Studio in Palo Alto) and Bar Method has nothing on the intensity of pilates.Bar Method was just an okay class - it almost felt like a stretch. When we isolated certain parts of our body, I felt the strain, but then as soon as I stopped the move, that soreness was gone.I would only recommend this class as a complement to other classes (such as bootcamp, strength training, etc.)
