So I’ll be honest, before I started working with Golden Ticket Admissions, I was very stressed out about the college admissions process, and frankly, I was not very enthusiastic about it. I thought I would be writing a bunch of essays halfheartedly. But that, thankfully, did not happen.My dad set me up with Golden Ticket Admissions and my counselor was Ariel Mazel-Gee – and she was AMAZING! It was always a joy to work with Ariel and I could feel the enthusiasm and optimism whenever I worked with her (and that goes a long way, especially in the college process which can be very grueling). Looking back, there are three reasons that really underscore why Golden Ticket Admissions and Ariel were so amazing: 1) Ariel gave excellent feedback so I understood, intrinsically, what the colleges want and helped bring out my authentic voice 2) she kept me on track and 3) Ariel and Golden Ticket Admissions were extremely flexible towards my individual goals regarding the admissions process.It goes without saying that Ariel’s feedback to my college essay drafts were detailed – I felt they were meaningful, made sense, and weren’t just there “for the sake of it.” But not only that, in addition to giving feedback, Ariel helped me understand WHY she gave the feedback that she did. She walked me through how the admissions officers think, what they are looking for, and what stands out. So I didn’t just receive feedback from Ariel, I was able to LEARN and UNDERSTAND the process. I think that that’s really important because often times, when we write college essays (me before I went to Ariel for professional guidance), we get the feeling of “I’m writing about me, but what do they really want to know?” Ariel helped me understand that idea, so whenever I sat down to write, I felt like I had a clear direction.As part of this, Ariel helped bring out my authentic voice. Never did I feel like I’m writing something that’s not me. Instead, through my discussions with Ariel and her insight into what tends to work and doesn’t work, we were able to recognize themes and lessons throughout my life that drove my passion. She was able to help me organize my thoughts and do so from a professional standpoint.Second, Ariel kept me on track. The biggest challenge, I feel, of college admissions is getting over that mentality of “oh I can write the essay tomorrow” etc. Ariel and I set schedules and deadlines to counter this, and they were effective. It NEVER got to a point where I was rushing a couple days before the deadline scrambling to get my essays in, and that is something that I’m really grateful for.Lastly, Ariel was flexible towards my personal goals. I, personally, did not intend to apply to dozens of colleges and I, in addition to getting college essay feedback, wanted to get mock college interview practice. Ariel was extremely understanding of this, gave me the professional college interview practice I really wanted to zone in on (we did three sessions for that) and helped me zone in extra hard on the universities I was targeting.But in addition to that – and I feel like this is really important – with Ariel, my dad and I paid for what we needed. We were billed based on each session, individually, one at a time. That’s really good, because unlike some other services, we were not locked into a $5000 dollar package that we paid upfront. So, if we had a change of plans regarding how many universities I was intending to apply to, we would not be at a financial loss. We paid for what we needed, and that made things more personalized and efficient.At the end of the day, thanks to Ariel, I left the college process feeling good – I didn’t feel drained, regretful, or any such stressful emotion. If anything, I better learned what people find persuasive and I found out more about who I am and my identity via the essay discussions Ariel and I had. In short, I am extremely happy that I got to work with Ariel and Golden Ticket Admissions!
