I had already paid for my services, they billed me 2 other times, and automatically put it on credit card. I called them and I was told they where getting a lot of calls on this and it would be refunded it back on my card. This would take 5-7 business days. This was 20 days ago and no refund and nobody wants to help me!! they are thieves and crooks and dont care about their customers. I will never do business with them and I will make sure that anybody I know doesnt as well. I have already got 6 people to change to Naturescape. They are cheaper and have had a great customer service department!!!! Dont waste your time or money
Signed up online for a complete yard package. Then yesterday without warning that showed up and sprayed my front yard and my backyard. Had they called me first I would have told them this was a bad time to put down fertilizer because I’d put some on Less than a week ago. I also would have told them that my backyard was off limits because I had two dogs that are sensitive to yard chemicals and that also will eat the grass.But I got nothing but a call or even a text or email before they serviced my yard. They never even called to verify that it was my house or address. They could have been doing someone else’s yard entirely had I made a mistake entering something.I don’t recommend their service, communication is the key for any business and there is obviously none coming from this one.Despite all of this and talking to a customer rep to close my card they still managed to take their money out of my account.Trugreen is only interested in scamming money from people. Disgusted.
Let the pics speakAfter hiring TruGreen to take care of my yard, and after full year of service this is how the yard looking!!. After talking many times to the manager with promises to have somebody field manager I guess follow up with me, that never happened. I tried to call many times, no success.
We used their service for the entire year of 2020. It did not kill our crabgrass and other broadleaf grass that we expected. We called them twice to cancel their service late last fall. Instead of cancelling they showed up yesterday unannounced and did another treatment. When you call the local number you have to go thru several prompt and said it would be a 45 minute wait to talk to someone.
True Green came knocking on our door and we signed up. Then they called and said they sent an email and my Dad couldnt find it. So they called me and asked me to look for it saying my Dad is old so he probably doesnt know how to get his emails. Rude! I looked when I got home and no email. I get a call the next morning saying they never sent the email after all.They came and sprayed and said they sprayed weed and broadleaf killer on our lawn, but funny thing is, I had twice as many dandelions after they sprayed and they werent curling up and dying either, so I think they just sprayed water on our lawn. I called our assigned True Green specialist (who we are supposed to call if we have questions or issues) 5 times over 3 days and also texted. No call backs, no texts. I called the local number and it said I had a 2.5 hour wait. I called again later and got the Colorado office. He said he would note my account. I went to the local office and of course due to Covid the office is closed to the public.We are now cancelling our service, thank goodness we didnt pay for the whole year like they were trying to pressure us to do.True Green is a SCAM! Once they get your money they dont give a darn about you as a customer. No way to get ahold of them.
Poor customer service, the worst I have ever experienced. You cannot get hold a specialist or a manger to speak to. I had 1 year service for weed control, there is no change. Complete waste of money. Similar experience from others in Iowa City/Coralville. Would not recommend to anyone. Seems like their business model is based on getting new customers, rip off and move on. This is clearly evident from their recent reviews.
We signed up for one year service. Our main concern was crab grass in our yard. After the first visit, some grass improved, but so did the crab grass. Then we started getting new weeds. Our grass has never looked worse!When we approached the person treating the yard he said it looked great until we moved in. Then daily calls and text messages started arriving for mosquito treatments. We asked them to stop but they didnt.The next month the bill was higher than expected. We called and told them to cancel the service. After multiple calls, the owner called and said he was too busy to talk, but would call back at 4 pm. Yes, 2 weeks later and we are still waiting. My recommendation ... Never use their services! They are a scam!
It is company you can not trust. They promised weed control and lawn maintenance last year. They charged $600 and by the end there was more weeds than at the beginning; we had to call to ask them why they didn’t come. Even worse than that the year after in 2021, they tried to restart service without our agreement. Don’t use this company, It is not only unprofessional, it’s also unreliable and fraudulent.
The sales experience was great but to get the crew out to do applications was very hit and miss. The Cedar Rapids location is either not managed well or under staffed.

I have used TruGreen service sporadically over the years. This past winter I have received numerous sales calls. I have repeatedly stated I no longer wanted future lawn service and would not be renewing my contract. They showed up yesterday and treated my lawn. When I called to inquire why, I was informed the contract automatically renews and the charge for the service was valid. The contract was not cancelled since I did not call in and specifically cancel it. Telling their sales representatives I did not want the service did not count as an official cancellation. I originally signed up and paid for one year of service. Not service for the rest of my life. Plus, if telling your sales representatives I dont want the service does not permit me to cancel the services....they should stop calling me! Very poor business practices. Use a local company with customer service vs. a national one with a 1-800 number for customer service.
We got the complete mosquito yard spray package. A few weeks after our first spray I called because we didn’t notice any difference in our backyard. The lady I spoke with told us that only our front yard got sprayed, they didn’t do our back yard. (We paid for the entire property to get sprayed). She said they would send someone out to spray correctly the following Wednesday. I said no problem- accidents happen. Wednesday comes and no one shows up and no one calls us. I finally called in the evening and she said she had no clue why they didn’t show up as the system says they should.have been there. She told me she would reschedule it for the following day in the afternoon. They ended up coming at 8am the following day instead of the afternoon like I was told. We have a fenced in yard and they left BOTH of our gates open when they left and our dog got out! I had no idea they even came until my neighbor told me they had been there and didn’t shut our gate. Luckily my neighbor saw this and was able to help us get our dog back because I was home alone with my baby and toddler. I called to let the company know this and they didn’t seem to care.Worst experience ever and I would not recommended them at all.
I can not believe the poor response and shoddy customer service Tru Green provides. I have called X4 to have a rep return my call for treatment of 2 trees. They WILL NOT RETURN ANY CALLS. You guys are FIRED, and in addition I will, by word of mouth never recommend your services to anyone ever.
As a former employee, I know that Trugreen uses the worst herbicides due to the fact they are cheap. The Cedar Rapids/ Cedar Falls branch is ran by inept management who lack any serious agronomic knowledge. The sales group is told to get your money and move on to the next victim. You are better off getting a local company. My experience was 9 years with the company and was a member of management for 5 years.
Very unsatisfied. Poor quality. More weeds than when I signed up. Paid for 7 applications and in over 3 months have only received 2. They have rescheduled what should have been last months application 3 times. I do not recommend this company or their services.
We signed up for the New Home Owners package when we purchased our new house. TruGreen came out multiple different times and left hand written notes to what they had done, sprayed for weeds, aerated and seeded your yard, yet when I came out to check, there would be more weeds than ever, and no aeration holes or grass seed laid. It has been a year since then, and my yard looks worse than ever, after being in their care. If I could put 0 stars I would.The best part of their service was the lady I spoke with on the phone when I cancelled. She was very apologetic and great with the customer.We will never use again or recommend to anyone.
The local customer service agent was exceptionally rude. If you want to get anything accomplished, call the corporate office.

Matt Cleveland walked me around my yard and explained his proposed treatment plan to me and answered all of my questions. I was impressed. He even pointed out possible grub issues in my neighbors lawn and said I should also have a treatment for that. So far very happy.
Prepaid for 6 treatments last year (lesson learned). My first 3 treatments were done in 4 months, the last 3 treatments over 6 weeks. Constant sales calls about how routine evaluations of my yard found I needed to purchase other services, while failing to notice all the weeds growing in my grass. Then without signing up again or anyone talking to me, I received a text that my lawn was being treated today. Terrible business practice. I will never use Trugreen again.
Purchase program included nutsedge treatment. I always had to call to have them come back to treat it. The information is on my account. Also the last year they did not really control the weeds. Had to call them back for multiple applications. Also timed them. The guy literally ran to apply stuff . . . less than 7 minutes to do my whole yard. They only care about the dollars and not the service.
Would never recommend Trugreen to anyone unless your interested in poor service and lack of consumer communication. If there was a 0 star available, I would of chosen that. Went with highly referred to local company instead.Ironically, reading your response, I did email the customer care group twice with no response.
Constant calls trying to get me to spend more money. Even after I moved continually calling even after I asked them to stop. Became near harrassment. Definitely go somewhere else.
Sent inexperienced workers. Killed my whole front lawn! Took 2 months to get someone out to my house to look at lawn. That person agreed with me! Said their is no focus or structure within company. Said company doesnt listen to their employees to make things run smoother. He called regional manager and sent general mgr out. He basically said he didnt deal with this kind of thing and said oh well we cant do a thing. Your lawns dead. We refused to pay them they can settle it in court if they want my money. Stay as far away as possible from these people.
We bought a annual contract and the communication has been horrible. You have to call a 800 number to contact anyone. I attempted to contact the salesman that sold us the treatments and he never returned my call .They missed treatments that are scheduled and one time a guy came to my home, visited with me about my lawn, and said he was going to get started. He sat in his truck and had left without doing anything. I contacted the 800 number and they said he had documented that he did a full treatment. Upon checking, he did not do anything. To say the least, I will not be using them again.

TruGreen is the worst company in the world. I never signed up for their service. They bought out my account from another company, which was fine until they started calling me non-stop to try to up-sell me. I repeatedly asked them to stop calling me and they never did. Fed up, I called to cancel my service. I even followed-up with an email to the local office and received an email confirmation from someone who identified himself as the Branch Sales Manager. Spring arrives and guess what? I get a call from TruGreen confirming my appointment for the next day. I called again to cancel and followed up again by email to the Branch Sales Manager. Two weeks go by. I come home from work tonight and there it is: The little yard flag telling me TruGreen has been there. I called them again. Well, you cancelled your lawn service but not your tree and shrub service. No, I cancelled everything. Do not hire these people. You will never be able to get rid of them. Incompetence has reached a whole new level with these people.
We have had the most excellent experience with TruGreen. From calling and having a consultation within an hour to all of the weeds disappearing and a healthier lawn after a single treatment! During my most recent treatment, I noticed our specialist pull up and tried to run the garbage out before he starting spraying. He was to quick for this pregnant momma and was quite the gentleman and asked if he could run it to the back for me. I would highly recommend TruGreens services to everyone!
Great service for many years. However 2 treatments in a row left the gate open allowing my dog to roam free. They were called after the first incident and told to make a note on the account and signs were placed on the gate. Happened a second time, therefore dropped the account! Inexcusable and pure laziness.
Several treatments later and found out that foxtail has no issues growing in our yard, treatments were not effective. Double treated our lawn in the same week; the second treatment was supposed to be for neighbors, but they treated our lawn again than they left the bill at our door in our neighbors name and account information. Plus, they came back for a re-seeding, but actually did not show up at all (charged us for a service not rendered). I would have been better of buying my own lawn sprayer and do it myself!!!
I think we got the value for the money spent. I have found that you specialist are very knowledgeable. We usually dont have the same technician from 1 time to the next. They were all friendly
They suck, always had weeds afterwards and strips in my lawn. Gave them a few years and tried again except this time they could never honor there scheduled times. The app is cool but pointless if there are always running so late. Your lawn service is here is like shopping at Harbor Freight; you get what you pay for. Cheap prices cheap lawn care.
I am somewhat reluctant to write a review but due to True Greens lack of response to our repeated phone calls I feel this is the only option.We had specific notes on our account to avoid our garden but we recently were contacted for a special treatment on our trees. First of all, if they would have told us the chemicals to be used we would have refused. They did not avoid the garden as requested.They were also going to try to aerate the lawn and when the guy called to schedule my husband told them I was upset about where they sprayed and the salesman was not concerned and just said ok and hung up.If you are looking for a company that cares about their customers and is willing to make things right then DO NOT choose this company. There are a few other companies that offer better service in our local area.We will not choose them again. Just as someone else mentioned if I could give a zero star rating I would but that is not an option.For others in this situation I think it is wise to report to the Better Business Bureau.
These guys are terrible and crooks. I paid for one years service and by the end of one year my lawn was worse than when they started. They showed up again this Spring and got ready to start the application on my yard. I informed the tech that I had not paid for service, would not pay for service and asked him to go away. Today while I was at work they came back put another sign in my yard, applied nitrogen, and left a bill on my front door. I called them and inform them I had not authorized this and would not be paying for it and had to go through a whole process to get a service canceled that I have never asked for this year.What a frickin Joke. If you live anywhere around or in Cedar Rapids I would suggest calling Linn-Coop.
A total fraudulent non performing company. Signed up for one year service. They made an application in April and then nothing. Called in early May about weeds and got some of yard serviced leaving other weeds. It’s now mid June and no service. Yard is yellowed and said you came in April, when are you making another application? We will be there in a week, you guessed it, on the day they were to come, after numerous notices again a no show. Called asking for a refund and after some haggling they said would do so.And now we wait.
They sign you up for one thing, add on Services without your knowledge, don’t call ahead. Their price goes up and up and up and up....Don’t do it because it’s impossible to get them to stop.
I had TruGreen spray my lawn a week ago . The guys were really friendly and left a receipt on the door as I was away. The dandelions were really invasive and out of control. Not even a week later after mowing my lawn, its top notch! Couldnt be any happier, Id highly recommend them for residential and commercial use! Very affordable as well!
After 3 applications,i still have a variety of weeds and fungus. On the last 2 applications, they ran out of weed control. Isnt that what you do? How does this happen? I get much better results fertilizing myself. Wont use Tru Green again.
My uneven, patchy, weedy lawn has been transformed into a green blanket. The specialists have addressed my specific needs (mostly by eliminating patches of chickweed and bare spots). They are always dressed professionally, do a good job, and are friendly. The applications are done at just the right times to keep the lawn healthy year-round. My neighborhood association has very strict standards - in the past I have had to re-sod portions of my lawn because of invasive Bermuda grass and bare spots, but since I started using TruGreen those problems have gone away, and there is a visible difference between the health and consistency of my St. Augustine lawn and my neighbors. I have been very happy with the service, and I appreciate the pre-pay discount.
The most recent service was for my lawn. As usual, it was done with a smile and a knock on the door to let me know that he was here to service my lawn. A job well done!!
I guess when youre nationally number 1, you can discriminate on picking up new customers. Used their site to get a quote on lawncare, and got called immediately (less than a min) later. Guy that returned my call was interested in pushing a sale and getting a credit card on file more than helping me and answering my questions. Also BSed that the first time customer promo was only good for the duration of that call, and HAD to get a card on file to secure it. Then hung up on me as I was asking more questions about their process.
They came out once and applied treatment only to never return again despite billing me $329. They changed their story a few times on why they didnt come back out, but needless to say avoid these guys!
After 1 treatment my lawn is looking 10 times better!! I am amazed on how fast my lawn is starting to green up!! Well done TruGreen!!!
Weve tried fogging the yard for mosquitoes as well as every other spray treatment with no success. The TruGreen mosquito treatment left the yard mosquito free for the first time in years. It was worth every penny.
Consistently poor applications that are not thorough. I called to report it today after they applied fertilizer (about 1/3 of the yard was covered) and although the applicator was supposed to come back and reapply they never showed up. Save your money and go somewhere else.
I smelled chemicals when I went to go take my recycle bins out to the curb today and noticed a trugreen sign in my yard stating that it had been treated with chemicals. Neither myself or my husband asked for or wanted any chemicals in our yard. Now I am left not knowing how much of the yard was sprayed, if it was sprayed in my flower gardens, etc. I am very displeased!!!
This company is constantly calling me to the point of harassing me! I have asked them to stop calling me every single time! One phone call they were calling to set up an appointment for service I never requested. I will never do service with this company because of their lack of respect for my wishes to stop calling me all the time. Please leave me alone!
Didn’t get rid of all my weeds, when they did the airrating to the lawn most of the lawn wasn’t airrated properly and a muddy mess was left on my sidewalks and neighbors driveway that my neighbor wasn’t happy about. They also left a big pile of seed in my street in front of my home, more than what was actually on my lawn for my overseeding. They wouldn’t credit my account unless I signed up with them again and have now sent my account to collections, so now I can waste $300 on a service that wasn’t provided just to save my credit score. Also I was bombarded with sales pitch calls to add on more services when basics can’t be done right. Also calls to treat sick trees that are not on my property which can be common knowledge as they are outside my fence perimeter.Thanks for nothing. I will be giving my business to Naturescapes or SimplyGreen.
I really dont have anything negative to say. Our lawn looks so much better with your service. I have one wish and that would be for Trugreen to find away to totally get rid of the wild lilly weeds forever!
True green lawn Specialists were very knowledgeable and skilled in describing what type of grasses I had as well as the insects.
The lawn and shrub service has been great. Everything is healthy. One issue I have had is the aeration service has been problematic. There seems to be a disconnect between the notification service and when the service actually happens. Twice I received calls that the service would occur the next day, but they did not show up. Then, the service showed up the next week and I was not notified. In all though, the TruGreen service is good.
I have been very happy with TruGreens service. Our lawn looks very nice throughout the summer, weeds are gone and it is always nice and green. I schedule it on a yearly basis and the lawn is serviced as Trugreen sees fit so it is very convenient.
I have true green. They dont do a good job with weeds. Not worth the money they ask. Not too many lawn companions to choose form.

Even after cancelling years ago for crappy servicce, they continue to call asking me to start again. Ive asked every time theyve called to stop calling me. This company continues to harass me by calling. Stay as far away from this company as you can. Once they get your phone number they will not leave you alone.

I have used Trugreen for years. Up until now, we were happy w/ their service. The last treatment we received from Trugreen, KILLED MY LAWN!!! And not just a few spots! I cant get anyone out there to get it fixed! I called them this morning to find out why no action was taken from my phone call early this week. This was my 3rd call to them!!! Apparently my Monday phone call went undocumented!!! GREAT SERVICE??!!?? I THINK NOT!!!!! Since I know their calls are all recorded, I asked them to pull my recording from Monday - I still had it on my phone what time I called (it was a 12 minute phone call). Im still waiting for a response. Truegreen is OK until something needs resolved - this is where you have problems getting them to fix their f-up. They show no loyalty to long-time customers
About a week after the second treatment on my lawn, the dandelions sprung up. I called TruGreen and they were back withing a few days retreated and have not seen them sense.

In the spring we were very happy with Trugreen. They were able to get rid of the Creeping Charlie and the lawn looked great...then they stopped coming. We called early on and told them about the grubs and they said that they would be out to treat them and they never showed. Now our lawn looks awful. The voles came for the grubs which caused the top turf to slide away. When u walk on it the grass just slides like a rug. We had the manager come out and he guaranteed they would be out to treat the yard and they have yet to show up. Now when we try to call the phone is never answered so we cant even get ahold of them. We spent good hard earned money to have them take care of our yard and it is the worst looking yard in the neighborhood.
My lawn care specialist treated my crab apple tree with my dogs out in my yard. All 5 dogs were sprayed with chemical. I have asked twice for the branch manager to call me. I have yet to hear from anyone.Irresponsible AND the customer service sucks.
Lack of communication within this company, weve given them 2 chances and they messed it up both times. Not recommended, the technicians are not very professional when on your property. We have pets and both times have told them to only spray the front yard and the technicians still sprayed the back yard and left pellets all of the patio and even in the dogs water dish. If you have pets stay away from this company!! Well be looking for other services in the area that can follow instructions when we order the service.

I had them for over a year they were ok with service. They always used to call to sell upgrades which is annoying. I cancelled my service before the year started and now they call twice a week to try to start service again. Its super annoying.
