There was no one in the shop when I came in and all three barbers were busy. I have been going to Tam once per month for 18 months (expect during the worst of the pandemic). One person came into the shop after me. One barber was free and they took the person who came in after me and not me. No one spoke to me. I continued to wait. Another person came into the shop and when the next barber was free they took him instead of me. Again they didn’t say anything to me. I said I was here before him. They didn’t respond to me. So I left. I will never go back. There customer skills are terrible. The haircuts pretty good.

It is really difficult to succinctly encapsulate what this place means to me but I will try my best. Belinda Carlisle once postulated that Heaven is a Place on Earth. Given what our expectations are of Heaven, it is easy to be skeptical of Belinda. However, this place not only confirms that Heaven is on Earth but its here in San Diego in a quiet barbershop thats posted in an aged strip mall.Upon walking in, you are ceremoniously and warmly greeted. They will instruct you to take a number and have a seat. While youre sitting waiting youll notice this place isnt particularly special in the decor building. If I am being honest it looks like that half baked project your husband refuses to finish. Despite this, there are a couple television sets to entertain you while you wait.Now its your turn for your haircut. They will ask what you want. They will ask good questions to ensure you are getting the haircut you want. Then the aforementioned Heaven begins. These men and women (and possibly gender neutral persons) will proceed to give the best and most detailed hair cut of your life. These people care about you deeply; their respect their craft of haircutting deeply. For these reasons this establishment and its employees have my unyielding respect.So Heaven is over in about 30 minutes or so depending on what you ask for. It is now time to pay up. For a haircut of this detail, I figured Id to empty my wallet and your wallet (forgive me breaking the fourth wall). Nope. Twelve dollars. Thats it.I tipped generously and left. Before I am at the cusp of the door and sunny San Diego, I received a farewell with the same candor as the first.

I moved near Point Loma a little over a year ago and was skeptical finding a new barber after many bad fades from new barbers.I found Tam on Google and saw how affordable the cuts were. $12 for a fade is unheard of in San Diego, so although I thought it was too good to be true, I gave it a shot.After seeing Tam, I havent been to another barber since! I do see Tam specifically so I can’t vouch for all the barbers in there but I would definitely recommend Tam! Affordable with quality!

I only get a buzz cut and over the years barbers have normally buzzed me quickly and sent me on my way. In and out in less than 5 minutes. Not here. The amount of time they spend on a haircut, and the attention to detail this barber shop extends to someone like me, a buzz cut, is remarkable. Best haircut Ive ever had, I didnt want it to end. And a great price also.

They have multiple high quality barbers, not just the owner. High skin fades are on point. I always tell people its the best deal in town.

Best place to get a great haircut

Love this place. Only place in SD I go for a haircut. Haircuts are one thing I can not justify spending an arm and a leg for, even though I dont get them super often. The price is super reasonable. It recently went from 11 dollars to 12 dollars. 1 dollar upcharge for using a card versus cash so I recommend taking a 20 with you. I give a 5 dollar tip, so i am now out the door for only 17 dollars, and i am never disappointed by the quality of the work. Owner who is a barber is also a very friendly, happy go lucky guy with a good sense of humor . Always welcomes you with a smile and thanks you for coming. Highly recommend this spot.

Been coming here for years, theyre all good barbers. A haircut and beard trim runs $20(May 2019). I usually do cash, but, they do charge an additional 50 cents or $1 for credit cards. They take their time to make sure youre all lined up and dont rush any haircut job and I have come here 30 minutes prior to closing before and wasnt rushed. They do get busy though and had to wait about 45 minutes for a barber before so plan especially near the weekend.

This place is amazing. Ive read some say to make sure they get the owner, but honestly, all his employees do a great job. Theres usually a wait but i dont even mind because the banter is top notch. They do a great job with my beard too. Make sure you tip them well because they go above and beyond what they charge.

Tam and his crew are awesome the best haircut for the money. They make appointments for a few dollars more, just call ahead! 😉

Tam is a legit barber! I cant remember the last time I had an excellent, timely cut! I got about half and inch cut of and he nailed EVERYTHING! The line, the fade, even the length of my hair (which is important to me because I cover a birthmark on my head). Ill definitely be going back.

This place is so legit!TAM Is really detailed and careful with your cut. Great fades.He is really good with the single blade !!!The other barbers are pretty good as well I have gotten my hair cut by the only female there and shes done a good job so far.I have now been going there for almost 2 years and I keep seeing the same people over and over so obviously he is doing something good!I see a lot of military get their cuts there as well so that also has to say something.

$12.00 hair cut are wonderful. You know a place is good because their chairs are always full, and there is a line waiting.

Random barber assigned, owner gets tense if you request a particular one. Except that he seems to have his regulars...#4 all over for me, so no reason to be choosey. Average prices. Forgot to add: this is the only place Ive ever seen where they vacuum your head after cutting. Great idea, feels fantastic, and doesnt leave so much hair on your collar. Truly unique!

I used to live in Ocean Beach and discovered this barbershop while I was living there. I now live in Mission Valley but I continue to travel to visit this barbershop whenever I need a haircut. Barbers are efficient, but take great time and detail in your cut for a low price. This is my place.

Fourth time here and Im very impressed with the quality you get at Tam VN! The price is hard to beat, $11.50, but what really does it for me is their attention to detail. Cant stroke them enough, Ive had different barbers each time and was very pleased with all of them!

I have had my haircut by 5 different Barbers and they are all legit. They are also open on Thanksgiving which is a lifesaver. Im giving them 2 stars because they turned me away at 5:40 ( they close at 6). The owner asked a few employees and they all said no. He told me theyd be open tomorrow :(
