First, the location is set back from the road. This makes it easy to miss. I live a block away and had been going to Mission Valley for cuts because I would simply walk by this location. Dont be me. Youre missing out on a great location and high quality service.Second, I generally dont give five stars for places that dont follow the public health mandate, but the staff did everything to make me feel safe and respect my choices while allowing other customers to get their beards taken care of. I have a lot of respect for them for pulling this off.The quality of barbering here is top notch. Even though the service ran behind schedule, the reason it was slower than theyd like is because a quality job was their first priority. Definitely my new favorite local barbershop.Make a reservation online before going or call ahead to see how long the wait is. Busy location.

I needed a new barber, to keep my beard looking right and tight. Dame and Dapper didnt let me down. Dont sleep on this place. John doesnt play. He fixed what the barber at the other place had ruined, and I came out far above my expectations. Im a Dame and Dapper customer as long as John stays there. Clean place, great tunes, clean, nice people, great at lining up a beard the right way. 10/10 would recommend.

Hector is one of the most creative minds Ive met. I would highly recommend him for men and women hairstyles alike. Being in the military, we have certain haircuts we can and cannot wear, but because of Hectors previous background (also in the military) he is able to cut a good look while making it fit with your features. Going to him forever!

I moved to San Diego a year and a half ago and tried out 3 different barber shops. I finally found this baber shop and met Joe who gave me an awesome haircut. Ive been extremely happy with how easy it is to book an appointment online, and when I show up he is ready to cut my hair. Other places Ive been too had me sign a sheet and wait up to 3 hours. Joe does a great job and if you are looking for a new barber, then this is the place you want to go.

I’ve been coming to this location just about every week for the past year. From the moment I walked in, I was hooked. In that year I have stayed with Molly. I could walk in there blindfolded and tell her to do her thing, and it would come out perfect. I have NEVER had so many compliments on my hair!! I am not the easiest client. When I sit the chair, I come with wild ideas sometimes, and Molly is willing to collaborate with me to make sure each cut will work for me, and she has KILLED IT EVERY TIME! I highly recommend Molly!One of my favorite parts about being a client at Dame and Dapper on 5th is being surrounded by so much talent, and watching the other barbers interact with their clients. I would also highly recommend Vanessa, Randall, and Joe. JUST GET YOURSELF IN THERE!

1. Horrid hair cutting inconsistency every single time with one of the stylists. She hardly remembers my haircut and Ive been going to her for 3.5 months. I always had to instruct her on how my hair should be cut. I had to purchase my own cutting shears to cut my own hair at home because she never gets it right. It was always uneven.2. Repugnant unprofessionalism with one of the stylist!!!My hair got really botched badly one day by her and it had to be corrected at another barbershop at Top Cutts on 930 W Washington St. GO THERE! They have more pride and professionalism. They corrected my botched haircut by one of the stylists at Dame & Dapper and made me feel good about myself again. The guys at Top Cutts listen to you and REMEMBER your haircut every time you go there. My hair is very difficult to work with that requires precision (its just the way my hair is #sorrynotsorry) and these guys put this girl at Dame & Dapper to shame and SLAYED with their personable and professional demeanor and attention to detail with my haircut. Also its $25 that includes a wash. You dont get a wash at Dame & Dapper because they dont have hair washing stations to begin with in which I was told they could be fined by the city.I wont name any names at Dame & Dapper but this stylist did not bother to respond to me when I texted her to correct the botched haircut.PROFESSIONAL hairstylists and barbers respond to clients in a timely manner and correct the issue immediately in these situations. Shes not that. It took 4 weeks to correct the botched cut by her.3. Extremely filthy salon. I went there from October 2018 to January 2019 and it was never clean. Filifty workstation and in general the whole place was filifty, past clients hair everywhere (client chair, floors, workstation, etc), bathroom disgusting, mirrors havent been cleaned for months (ok maybe just one time but just ONE time).4. By the way, ALL salons and barbershops are required to have sinks to wash clients hair by the citys code and requirements. They have NONE. Just saying.Ive disputed one charge due to her horrid unprofessionalism, unresponsiveness and botched haircut. I did NOT want to write a negative review about this and just be done with this place but she had the audacity to say Im in the wrong to my credit card company with no real arguments. Yet, I have texts of her unresponsive nature and a written statement (credit card company requested it) from my current stylist that she botched my hair and needed to be corrected.Please go to another Barbershop with professionalism and integrity!!
