I have seen some improvements recently but parking spaces are to few and to small. 3 to 4 party’s a week so you won’t get any sleep including 2 live bands since we’ve been here. Office personnel are told to lie about occupancy levels, parking availability, surveillance cameras that don’t work and pool cleaning schedule. In 6 months we have had 9 days with no hot water. Have been asked to move our car out of our parking spot 8 times for various maintenance reasons. There have been 3 dead cars with plates expired in the parking lot since we moved in. If you have any issues or complain about anything they simply bend the truth, then ignore you. There are much better places for the same price in this area. Just look at the reviews. Wish I would have.
I have a been a tenant for almost half a year. I explain my own experience and let the readers conclude on their own!My car got keyed in the parking and cost about $5000. The manager said, we are not responsible. What is ironic is they are not willing to setup cameras inside of the parking. They are not willing to assign another parking slot. Seems like manager only attend the leasing office in few days!I recommend to look for other places, and I cant wait till my lease term is over. Also there is no fire extinguisher inside of mu unit, plus no cooling system.good luck!
Easily the best bang for your buck in La Jolla!! The rooms are spacious & affordable, facilities are great, and the staff is very friendly & accommodating! With everything you need within walking distance, I definitely recommend these awesome apartments.
So we just noticed that someone has put a big pin in our Merceds tire. We also experienced a month ago someone keying the same car. We have also filed the police report.I am not saying this is the issue with LJIG, but we have requested if they can put a few more camera in the garages, but guess not! Also, who does that thing to someone else, twice! I guess weak back ground check at least made here for us unsafe.
Easily the best and most on point Apartment Complexes Ive ever lived at. Had a couple life things come out of the blue the last couple months and theyve been on top of and super understanding of everything Ive needed as a result, even when I was probably being a little annoying haha. Maintenance has been excellent as well, always getting to my requests within 24 hours, if not same day for any maintenance problems, upgrades, or concerns.
I am that person that never writes reviews but has had such a horrendous experience lately that I had to. Ive been living here for 5 years now and it is only recently that the management at the leasing office has gone downhill. I want to emphasize that maintenance and any employee who takes care of the properties are amazing. They are helpful and considerate. The leasing office however does not have a good handle on how to run an apartment complex (Im not saying I know how but I think simple things would be pretty common sense). We have had nothing but back and forth answers about EVERYTHING lately. Example: we moved apartments and got a new parking space. We signed a contract saying our space was #147. I wake up this morning to find a piece of paper saying its not our space. When I call they tell me I am actually #62. When did that happen and why was I told something completely differently which I even signed a paper for? This is a prime example of the ineptitude that is going on there lately. I dont want to be this person who gets frustrated with the employees if they arent trained correctly or have lacklustre leadership but it is REALLY frustrating to hear 3 different answers for one question and have to take a lot of time out of our day to figure out what is going on. Im hopeful that things will change and the office will be run a bit smoother.I do also want to say that the complex itself is beautiful and feels super safe. The amenities are great for what you pay and the maintenance people keep everything running well and clean. So those are all amazing experiences here.
New resident here. There is a rude receptionist at leasing office.I called to complain about the consistent loud fountain in front of my bedroom which goes from 9:20am to until 11:40pm (60db outside, 55db in bedroom and 45db with window closed), making me unable to sleep as usual at 10pm. She/He said I should talk to service people and when I asked about their number, she/he hanged out the phone and didnt answer to my second call. When I went to office later, she/he said the fountain sound is not human being noise and they cannot help. Later on the manager came out saying they would communicate with the service people tomorrow to see if they can change the fountain time.Today I got a email saying they are striving to solve the problem and the receptionist talked to me yesterday is new. The manager is polite and helpful and their effort is appreciated.Update: the maintenance team came this afternoon. They filled the fountain with more water and cleaned sands. The effect was instantaneous. The sound is much smaller and no longer unbearable. One of them said that the water level of this fountain was too low and they also received alert. Efficient maintenance team and work.I changed the review for international gardens from one star to three stars because they fixed the problem. Maintenance is great and management needs improvement. I wish every resident be treated with politeness and voices be heard.
I lived here for two years and I loved it, Im so happy I chose this place. It was really affordable for me as a college student, but nice, clean grounds and apartments that made it feel worth more. The staff is friendly and maintenance issues were taken care of same day. They raised our rent by 50 dollars after the first year, but I feel like thats normal. Our neighbors were nice and quiet, and they have quiet hours at night and take care of noise complaints. I lived on the top floor, so take this with a grain of salt, because I had more light and vaulted ceilings, which made the apartment feel much bigger. And no problems with upstairs neighbors. Im not sure how much I wouldve liked it if we lived on a lower floor. Our room was also right above one of the waterfalls, which was a nice, peaceful sound to have. We also had the corner apartment, so we werent boxed in by neighbors. The laundry room has enough machines, unless you do your laundry at the busiest hour on the busiest day of the week. The gym is pretty poor, so I never used it, but the pool and jacuzzi are nice, except sometimes not cleaned often enough and filled with flowers and bugs. When we left we also got almost all our security deposit back, despite having a bit of wear and tear on the carpet and walls, which made us super happy. I loved this place most because it was so quiet and well taken care of, with nice, hard-working staff. I missed this place so much when I left.
Bad life choice. Loud at night, and the ants are horrible. At least two nights a week its like trying to sleep in a frat house. From 11:00 P.M. until 2:00 A.M. there is shouting and yelling. Additionally, I have woken up to a bedroom full of ants and have come home to a kitchen full of ants. This is not user error. Im exceptionally clean. This building needs to be tented a and fumigated. Even the termination company that came to lay down gel for the ants agreed that this place needs to be tented and fumigated. The complex manager, Vivianne, places the complex income assets before the tenants interest. Dont expect any help on either counts (noise or ants). Look elsewhere.
NEW MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE! POOL, SPA AND GYM ARE CLOSED BUT THEY STILL RAISE RENT. CAR BROKEN INTO MULTIPLE TIMES. MY FRIEND MOVED OUT AND THEY NEVER SENT HIM HIS DEPOSIT BACK. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE THERE ARE MANY BETTER AND CHEAPER OPTIONS NEARBY.
This and la Scala are simply the worst apartments in the area.
Ive lived here for about 3 years, and I purposely waited to write this review. Ive loved every bit of living at La Jolla International Garden, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a great apartment in La Jolla area.OFFICE STAFF - I visited the property several times before deciding to lease here - They provided exceptional hospitality while I explored the complex, and I am extremely appreciative of all of their help, considering I was very thorough in my apartment search. Not to mention, all of the staff are wonderful, kind, and friendly people!QUALITY - The units are well worth the price, in terms of quality and size. This was my #1 factor in my apartment search, and the impression my guests have when they first walk in says all that I need about the choice I made.LOCATION - Excellently located in the middle of La Jolla area, with plenty of grocery stores and restaurants all around.MAINTENANCE - I have submitted several minor maintenance requests, as this is one of the perks of renting! All requests were handled within 24 hours, and resolved to my full satisfaction. They are also very nice and respectful guys. Maintenance requests are no issue here.Give this property a shot. If you find the right unit for you, in terms of layout, view etc., you wont regret taking it
I have lived here for a year and my experience has been excellent. Yes there have been some staff changes and little challenges along the way, which happens all the time in apartment communities, but the one constant has been the property manager-Wendy. She has been excellent in response to any issue or request we have made from day one. Nothing in life is perfect, especially apartment living. I find it a bit ridiculous people complain when they dont even read their own lease or are rude themselves but expect management to be perfect human beings. Location is great. Amenities are good for the price. (New Chairs in pool area, newly paved parking lots, newer washers, regular community food trucks, etc). I would recommend this property for many reasons!!
The new manager has shown a terrible attitude towards the existing customers. I have been a long term resident since 2010 and I have interacted with now three different property managers
Love this place a lot. Ive been here almost 2yrs. Close to the bus stop and grocery stores. Reserved parking spaces under the units, clean areas, and good facilities. Birds are singing a lot,and it makes me happy everyday. And the staffs are so active to fix the units, pools, and etc. No bugs, except some small spiders;) This one is the best thing! One point deducted reason is parking&laundry.(Miscellaneous things)-Parking space is too narrow, and I got a lot of dent by other cars.(But it depends on your luck&where the your parking spot is)-And for laundry..laundry machine is old. So they are out of order several times, but the maintain staff fixed very well. Sometimes the machine got your money and not working as other reviewers said. Dont worry. Leasing offices staffs are so kind that you can get money back on your card directly.(you have to inform that which machine is not working)And when you want to dry your clothes more than 30minutes,you can insert your laundry card again to set up another 30min so that you can use it for 1hr. But make sure that you should remove your clothes ASAP after using laundry machine. Thats all the tips from residents.
Truly confused about all of these negative reviews. I have lived here for over a year now and it has been an amazing experience. Ill start by talking about how great Wendy (the manager) is. Wendy is extremely helpful and accommodating to her tenants needs. The pool area, laundry and gym are always clean and well maintained. Maintenance is amazing, any time i have had something come up, they show up right away and it gets fixed. I do not like the cheap materials in which the counters were made nor the ventilation, but the price for this area is great. Besides it has nothing to do with management, but the owners of this place lol Honest review for you! A lot of the negative reviews I see here are about management not wanting to share personal info of other tenants (which i am okay with) or giving people a break for not abiding to the contract, which doesnt make sense.
I lived there for one year. Everything is OK until I was trying to move out. They told me I would be charged of one extra month rent because I did not give them notice of moving out one month before the lease ended. I accepted that it was my fault to miss that specific section on the contract. But I did come to the office half month before moving out and asked the staff what I need to do. He told me I need to pay half month rent, drop keys to the office on the day moving out and that is all. His words were misleading and caused my loss. I later argued with the manager and she accepted that staff was doing wrong but I still need to pay the full penalty. It was an awful experience. I dont recommend living there. If you do live there, make sure you figure out everything yourself, because the staff may be not trustable.
Great location but horrible management. Extremely overpriced for the quality. I appreciate you trying to make it up to me but Ive lived there twice in 2 decades and nothing has changed. I would never recommend it to anyone and I will never live there again. And no, I will not meet with you. Ive had enough of your abuse. You call me a liar to my face even though I had the paperwork to backup everything you asked for. And a fast not about enough I was robbed in your garage!
Both place and location are amazing. The pool and jacuzzi are nice and big, but they are also very dirty. The gym is small but good enough for a quick workout. The walls of the apartments are extremely thin so if there are people living next to you or above you, it will basically feel like you are living with them. The biggest problem with this place is the leasing office staff. They are often very unexperienced and rude. Very much not willing to help.Overall Ive had a good time living there just because La Jolla is one of the best places in the world to live in, definately not because of International Gardens!
Every day of the past year has seemed like a vacation living here. The location is awesome as it is close to the freeway, bus routes, UCSD, UTC Mall, the beach, and 4 different grocery stores. The grounds, gym, pool, massive laundry room, and cyber café are all very well cleaned and maintained. We love the free coffee, the BBQ area, and how each building has its own Amazon Locker. The BEST part about this community is the staff. The manager, Wendy, has been awesome from the start. She is friendly, engaging, fun, and always ready to go above and beyond to help us out. It shows that Wendy cares about her staff, too. The maintenance staff, landscaping staff, office personnel, and assistant manager are all easy to talk to, very friendly, and kind. Our dog also likes all of them, and dogs know good people. Work orders for unit maintenance are easy to file and quickly fixed. The community is made up of a mixture of families, college students, and working adults. For us, most of the noise comes from traffic on the main street. My suggestion is for double pane windows in the future. Like every experience, you get out of it what you put into it. We do our best to be active in this community, and in doing so, have a great rapport with everyone. Thank you staff for maintaining such a great place to live!We highly recommend this place if youre looking for a quality place to live.
I lived there for almost three years in two different units. One point was deducted for crowded laundry site. The hours are pretty long; however, cant keep up with its cleanliness and residents usage. Sometimes my money went into the broken dryer without getting my money back. However, I love the free coffee, cyber cafe, and their leasing office staffs. (some are really b-word, but I learn how to be their friendly resident)I love the third floor unit_ super duper spacious and I got enough sunlight! (thats one more reason why I love that place)Another unit I used to live was contrast to that, super dim and humid. The outdoor staircase was one of my favorite. The volleyball court was one of the perks.Very economical place to live comparing to adjacent apartment complexes!!! :D
Very beautiful architecture and very clean common areas. Stayed here with a friend for a few days. The bathroom was always very humid and smelly and I was told the exhaust fan didnt work. I mean, it turned on and made a lot of noise but didnt help with the moisture or smell. I took the grate off it to see what was going on and the fan literally did not vent anywhere. It was an enclosed metal box with a tiny fan mounted 45 degrees...no vent. It just circulated the air in the bathroom. Building code requires that all bathrooms vent outside, otherwise the moisture problems lead to dry rot and mold. Very disappointing given the unit leases for $2000+/mo and makes me wonder what other corners the building contractors cut and how attentive the management is to their facilities.
My experience at La Jolla International Gardens has been horrible and I have only lived here for 2 months. Several days after we moved in, we received an email stating that we had failed to provide all of the money for our security deposit, and that we needed to pay the $1,598.75 immediately. However, my friends and I all turned in our checks to the leasing office and our checks were all counted and we had the full amount. My friend went to the leasing office the next day to figure out what went wrong and how they lost our check. When she went, the leasing staff was very rude. Once there, they pulled out our envelope with ALL four of our checks with the CORRECT amount of money and said that they needed to check if all the checks were there and that theyd get back to us. The next day we receive an email from the leasing manager that they accidently charged one of our checks to the previous owners of our apartment and that everything was all sorted. If we had not gone to the leasing office to find out what happened, La Jolla International Gardens would have taken almost $2,000 from us for a mistake THEY made without even verifying to see if we had indeed paid in full. They had the audacity to make us feel like we did something wrong and didnt even apologize to us.Additionally, there is no elevator access to my apartment that is on the second floor. I must climb 3 flights of stairs to reach it and the stairs are extremely narrow. Moving in was extremely difficult with moving heavy furniture and luggage up the narrow stairs. The walls are extremely thin and there are many families that live here with young children who cry and scream all day. You can hear everything that goes on in the apartments next to you. Since there is no AC and there isnt good ventilation in the apartment, our windows are always open so we dont suffocate. Thus, we can always hear what is happening outside and its extremely loud. Also, the restrooms do not have a window, they have a small vent but it does essentially nothing. I can not shower with warm water because the bathroom becomes a sauna and it feels difficult to breathe. I have nowresorted to showering with lukewarm water. There is little to no countertop space in the kitchen and the placement of the microwave does not make sense. There is no vent for the stove because the microwave is not above it. There is barely any cabinet space as well because the kitchen storage is not configured well.Overall, the price for La Jolla International Gardens is the cheapest in the area; for good rwason. You get what you pay for. Given the problems Ive encountered thus far I will NOT be renewing my lease.
Place is lovely, The accommodations more that adequate. The neighbors, however think they are paying to live in a house, and they are not. They are living in a aparment complex and thats unfortunate, because theres no pure silence in these living quarters.
Compared to la Scala apartment, I really enjoy La Jolla international Gardens, the crazy Asian lady is super crazy but she makes the apartment alive with her happy vibes and shes super nice
Nice place close to UTC and UCSD.pros:1. water and waste is included;2. nice pool which you can swim few laps;3. free (but limited) internet-surfing, printing, fax and coffee for residents;cons:1. many students live here so it could be noisy when you try to sleep;2. dryer only run 30 min each cycle, so its hard to dry your clothes;3. property is not gated;4. staff are not very friendly or welcoming but they do get things done in a timely manner
Manager is rude and disrespectful to residents. Most of renovations are fake and dont bring any real value but provide a lot of inconvenience.Security is extremely inefficient: somebody cut a soft-top and broke in to car when it was parked in the garage - management refused to provide a video from security cameras. Few month later, a motorcycle parked in the same garage next to my car was stolen during a daytime.
As someone who has lived in many different housing situations throughout California, International Gardens is the worst place I have ever lived in. The staff, security, and even the maintenance crew are all extremely unprofessional and rude. For example, IG boasts of their many different amenities. For those who enjoy security and privacy, you will not find that here. Recently, there has been a police report of a peeping tom in the apartment complexes. All the windows in the units are faced towards the walkways so if you do not close your blinds, you will have everyone peering into your apartment. If you choose to live here, bring lots of lamps or sacrifice your privacy for natural light. For those who enjoy working out, the gym has no free weights, no space for floor exercises, and only two treadmills. For those who enjoy the pool, it was under maintenance for several months during the summer.Comfort wise, I am living in their newly renovated unit, but I have called in work orders for broken garbage disposal, missing blind shafts, leaky shower heads, peeling bathtubs, and even for numerous rusty screws/nails I constantly stepped on when I first moved in.The office offers a self printing service, and only after a week I moved in, I went to print something I needed. The printer was not printing what I needed, so I went to the leasing office employee who works at the front. She asked me if the printer was out of paper, and I told her I did not know how to work that type of office printer and I was unsure of what the problem was. She then proceeded to ask if it was out of paper two more times before walking into the next room to check out the situation. She aggressively opened one of the paper compartments and brushed past me saying See, it is out of paper. Check it next time you make me walk all the way down here. The walls here are also extremely thin. I got a noise complaint around 11:30 when I was just talking to my friend in the living room. The security guard rudely and almost in a scolding manner told me to be quiet and then just walked away. The maintenance crew also always has their work supplies out in the entrance of the garage, and many times, I have had to wait for them to move in order to drive out. There are also no safety mirrors in the garage, making it dangerous for drivers to make turns in the narrow spaces. If you are a UCSD student looking for an apartment, the bus stops that are nearby (LebonxNobel and LebonxPalmilla) are always crowded and it usually takes around 45 minutes to get onto a bus during peak hours.Overall, there are many other places to consider before settling for La Jolla International Gardens. Many apartment complexes in the area are around the same price range for a similar size, and even if another place is more costly, saving a couple extra dollars is not worth the time and patience you need to live here.
The staff are generally cool. After La Jolla Internation Gardens sucks. They turned off our water during the day on five different occasions while doing work for several days at a time in order to do pipe repairs. They gave notice three different times to enter our apartment to see why water was leaking into an apartment below ours. They never found the problem. They spent a week banging and stomping around on the roof while doing roof repairs. But at least they did it during the day when I normally sleep since Im on night shifts often. Pool was closed for two months while it was being resurfaced. Washers and dryers are in short supply during the weekend, and often 7+ of the machines down at a time. Lastly and possibly the most annoying part of all this place is that the parking is absolutely horrible. There is not enough parking. Even if you have an assigned spot, the space provided is a bit small for a large car and nearly impossible for a larger vehicle such as a minivan or truck.A bit of sarcasm to tie this review off neatly. *The best part was my motorcycle was stolen from the parking provided under the building which supposedly has a surveillance system that wasnt working for some reason!* *UL ABZOLUTLY LUV DIS PLAC!* MOOV HIER NAOW!
Manager is very disrespectful. She cursed in front of me after I asked for advice contacting a resident in the community. She said hell no when I was not even talking to her. Very disrespectful.
They charged extra rent after I have turned over all the keys to the leasing office, and extra money for the carpet cleaning (in the notice it shows $60, however, they charged $80). And when I call them, they said they charge whatever they want ......
Clean, priced well, adjacent to shops,Over all a great place to live
The reason I give them 1 star is because I cannot give them zero star...Unreasonably high deposit which equals to two-month rent...attitude is soooo rude and arrogant...
Economical & clean with nice amenities.
