AVA PB its been the best experience Ive lived so far. I moved from the East Coast and had 9 (also great) places booked, guess which one I picked? AVA PB was the only one that has everything I need: beach, parks and local shops just a few blocks away, amazing amenities (see photos), pets all over the place (who doesnt love them?) and most importantly an energizing fun community and residents. Highly recommended.

So I’m leaving 3 stars because there are no security cameras in the hallways and my neighbors stole my food delivery service and packages and and other things from me and were super hostile to me and it made living here an awful experience for me and when I complained nobody helped me out with this. You’re really paying for the amenities here, the apartments are cheap looking and the walls are super thin.Although they were accommodating when I needed to move and didn’t charge me a buy-out since my neighbor literally stole from me so that was nice.

Wonderful place to live with nice amenities and lots of great people in the community. My girlfriend and I have lived here for 6 months and love the location!However, our biggest complaint is the broken track for our apartment sliding door. It has been broken since the day we moved in. We have contacted maintenance multiple times about fixing it and we get the same, temporary fix each time. It’s very frustrating. Especially since our door will not close and therefore we can’t properly lock our apartment - jeopardizing our valuables. I have also heard my friends in the complex with a similar issue. I wish maintenance would fix it before something serious happens....EDIT: Another issue I have with Ava is the fact that they do not open their outdoor hot tub even though the County of San Diego allows it. As residents we pay A LOT of money towards the beautiful amenities here at Ava, yet it is frustrating they do not open them. I understand with Covid it is difficult to fully function, but when other nearby complexes are allowing tenants to use their amenities I can’t help but complain. It is unfair we are paying a premium price, yet not receiving what we are paying for.Anyways, Ava is overall a good complex to live in and your perfect “first-apartment” in San Diego!

I loving living at AVA. It’s clean, safe, and the people are very friendly! I would rate this a 5/5 except for the fact that the hot tub and fire pit have been down for two+ months which is extremely frustrating when I “pay” to use these amenities. I know other complexes have their hot tub open during the pandemic and wish AVA would take note of this and to ensure that our rent money is being used correctly.

Nice apartment complex with a large pool and jacuzzi. Very little guest parking. Hardly any large flora. Standard community living for meeting a lot of young people. There is a cross walk that is right out on Ingram in front of the main entrance, very helpful for heading to the bay quickly.

1.5 years living at AVA PB and I can say I still enjoy living here, for the reasons below and many more...Community:1. This place has not only wonderful high quality amenities, but a really good energy from our neighbors. Everything is reason to celebrate, play sports, workout in group doing Yoga and Spinning classes, barbecue with friends and family, chill by the pool or walk the dog to make some friends2. Regular events to serve and engage everyone, such as movie nights by the swimming pool, organized sports contests like beach volleyball and basketball, delicious tenant appreciation and holiday brunches that my wife and I absolutely love, regular visits from various food trucks, blood donation drives and giving back to our community though other donation incentives3. A private residents-only Facebook group where its kind of our own marketplace and channel to discuss anything and interact with our neighbors onlineStaff:1. Im a heavy user of the Chill Lounge for work and the GYM. The cleanliness and organization of these places are impressive. Every day I see the cleaning staff making sure everything is in order and looks good for us residents. Huge props to Alejandra, Martha, Erizbe and Delia for their hard work day in day out2. Whenever I have issues in my unit or I see something that needs a fix or replacement, I open a service request at the AVA Online Portal and its immediately responded by the maintenance team and looked at. Recently I had Edwards help where he went above and beyond with his experience, care and attention on helping us solve the problem we had in the Bathroom. I also would like to thank both Joses, everyone else from the team and their supervisor Dennis for making sure things are done well, right and the team is properly guided and supported to continue succeeding3. We just had an entire building color revamp and it not only looks 100% better than before, but the speed and care staff showed while doing their job was amazingSecurity:This is the only real issue I have with AVA PB. Its a bit disappointing to live at such an awesome place, but still have issues where my bike got stolen from inside my units patio, my AirPods taken while I was working out at the GYM and hear people on FB share theyve had similar things happening to them. Although I dont blame AVA for those events, I believe something still needs to be done to ensure we can go about our lives without worrying about these types of issues in our community.Despite these minor security issues, everything else are some of the things that makes AVA a place like no other. Where the staff is friendly and hard-working, and residents are truly appreciated and heard. Im very grateful to live here.Thank you, AVA team.

The place is nice enough, great location, relatively clean, and a good mix of people. You pay a premium to be here because of the amenities, of which there are many. And, for the most part, the staff are pretty good at resolving issues, maintenance, etc. Where this place falls down is with the staff that think it’s more important to flex their muscles and show us who’s boss than to make the resident experience better. We all understand that covid has brought additional challenges and guidelines to community living. That said, there are certain ‘management’ folks that have decided they’ll interpret the State and County rules as they see fit. Ava has the world’s largest hot tub (kidding, but it’s pretty big), but evidently not big enough to hold more than a couple people because they might come from two different households?!?! Never mind that they could be sitting 10 feet apart, which is supposed to be all that matters at this point. There is absolutely NO reason for this!! Or how about ‘locking’ up basketball nets under the guise of some covid restrictions?!?! The indoor amenities, pool tables, games room, etc....ha, don’t even think about it!! If you want to play some games or just hang out with your friends, you’ll currently have to go to one of the bars in PB ‘cause it’s A-OK there but NOT at Ava!! It’s total B.S. We’re not stupid people here, it doesn’t take much to confirm what is, or is not, allowed under current State and County covid guidelines. From here on covid out, if you want to run the place like the gestapo, you better be sure you’re right with ‘the facts’ you’re supposedly enforcing...especially when you’re barking at us to get out of the hot tub without a mask on yourself despite the signage everywhere saying you should be wearing it!! Make up the rules at your own damn house, not at mine!!

I pretty much love everything about living here. Beautiful apartments and definitely amazing amenities. But for this review, I have to give a huge shout out to the maintenance staff! The amount of general upkeep and cleaning they do is completely unparalleled, and even that increased exponentially in 2020. Any service request I have ever submitted has been completed in less than 24 hours, and they are beyond respectful of you and your space. Thanks for everything AVA PB - probably the best apartment community Ive ever experienced!

I had a great time at Ava. My few months there were great. I would like to give a huge shout out to Daniel Medina, anytime I had any sort of problem or issue he was quick to help and went out of his way to help me. They have a great cleaning team, and their gym is amazing. I imagine when all the amenities are fully open, it is one of the most fun apartments to stay at!

AVA PB was alright itself. It’s a nice complex with really neat amenities. The time there was super fun. I just want to shout out and thank their technician Richard G! He was a quick responder any time there was an issue in the apartment. He would fix the problem efficiently and immaculately. Super awesome dude.

Loved living here, great neighbors, nice amenities, and an awesome location. They also made it really easy and smooth for my move out, when I got out of the navy and moved for a job.

Terrible, extremely noisy. The neighbors are rude and loud. It is a good place to live if you don’t work and only like to party with young and superficial people. It is very expensive also. People don’t speak in this place they scream. They leave their windows open with loud music during the whole night. They are doing parties during the lockdown also. They scream during the night. Make a favor for yourself and go to find a better place.

I moved in to AVA in April 2018. I have absolutely loved everything about living here! The maintenance staff in particular are incredible. They respond to requests usually within the same day and are always so friendly and efficient! The office staff respond to my emails quickly and in my experience have always been super helpful. I appreciate that AVA is taking the necessary precautions to reopen the communal amenity spaces in a RESPONSIBLE way to help ensure everyones safety. The amenities are by far my favorite part of living here, along with the close proximity to the bay, and I look forward to the day when we can safely use them normally again. In the meantime I will be grateful for the time I do get to spend at the pool and gym.

Ava would be 100% worth it with use of amenities.The hot tub and fireplace have now both been out for 2+ months and when things like this happen at Ava, unfortunately the staff and company don’t find it compelling to fix if it doesn’t affect the company directly.There have been many promises to reopen these amenities when it’s allowed per city ordinance, but it has since been okayed and Ava still keeps them out of order (I wouldn’t doubt it saves them a lot of money to do so).Not only is this a huge inconvenience and disservice to tenants who are paying premium price for their amenities, but to make matters worse Ava seems uneager to get these things back to working order for its tenants and are fairly unresponsive and unhelpful when inquiries are made in regards to the situation.It’s a shame because this place has potential to be great if it were run by a better company.

The maintenance department is absolutely amazing! They are there so quickly its almost startling and they go way beyond what is expected. Great service!! Ditto for everyone in the office!

I was supposed to move to AVA this month but my plans changed due to COVID. Cristina was super helpful and was able to quickly work with me. In a matter of days we got it all figured out and even setup my refund! Staff here are awesome, Ill definitely look here if I end up moving to PB.

Do yourself a favor and don’t live here. In our two years stay the amenities, which are literally the only reason to ever consider living here, have been closed about half the time. Always one excuse after another from “management.” Now with the COVID reopening, which is taking place well after the government allowed, you need a day in advance reservation for the pool and all the other amenities also are operating on reduced hours with insane regulations that go WAY past local mandates. Gave it two stars because it is pretty nice when everything is open and the maintenance crew is awesome.

I can’t say enough good things about this apartment complex. It’s absolutely beautiful here and they do an amazing job at maintaining the everything. The people who live here are all very friendly professionals. Plus the people at the office are super helpful. I recently lost my Apple Watch By the jacuzzi at night and the security was nice enough to turn it in and when i went to the office they gave it back to me. I have lived in a lot of places where if if you lost something it was never to be found again. I love this place and highly recommend it to others.

Weve lived here for over two years and its a great experience. They maintenance staff are always on top of everything and courteous. Eduardo and Richard have most recently been in our apartments and theyve been really nice helpful. The office staff too are always really nice. Its a great community.

Super noisy, especially at night. Loud music screams in the middle of the night (2 am to 6 am). A lot of the residents have parties 3 to 4 times per week. You can call for the emergency number of the Avalon communities but nobody do nothing. so if you dont sleep this is the place for you, another way is a hell.

Richard and Louis were awesome. They came and took care of my dishwasher really quickly and were extremely friendly!

In the middle of my second year lease currently, and very happy with my experience! The Office/Maintenance Staff, The Amenities, The Gated Community/Parking, Would rate all of these 5 Stars!!Wanted to especially thank Richard G. and the rest of the Maintenance Crew for all the hard work they put in.Richard genuinely goes out of his way to be positive, energetic, always waves hello, and its obvious he takes real pride in taking care of the apartment residents. Not to mention he is a lighting fast and skilled tech! Fixes all of my service requests perfectly, the AVA complex is definitely lucky to have him on their staff!

Extremely disappointing response to COVID-19.The attraction at AVA for most residents is the amenities-- beautiful pool, gym, cabana, tennis/basketball courts, dog washing station.Amenities have still not reopened even after San Diego county authorized the reopening of gyms and pools. What are we even paying for???

AVA team takes such pride in our community! Service requests are completed in less than 24 hours. Edward and Richard are awesome! Martha keeps our building top notch, always smelling great with attention to little details.Alex in reception always kind and helpful. Im very impressed with AVA Pacific Beach!!!

I would like to praise Alejandrina Valdez for who she is. I live at the complex and it is so lovely to see her smiling face in the mornings at the gym. She is such a hard worker but also a wonderful human being, and is part of the magic that makes AVA a great place to live..>Steven

Do not move in here! Staff does not care about their residents! They closed all amenities of which we pay good money to use. $2000 for a one bed room and they refuse to respond or provide any sort of reimbursement as they make thousands by not running amenities. Place is a rip off!

The staff is so friendly and the amenities are always clean and well taken care of!!

I lived at AVA for 2 years and had an excellent experience. The location and crew are great, especially their maintenance team - huge shoutout to Edward who was always prompt, knowledgeable, and able to fix anything I needed! I submitted a ton service tickets including tickets for personal needs like helping to dismantle my TV mount or helping with a tricky stripped screw. Edward and his team made living at AVA very comfortable and easy.The only con is the price.. AVA is guaranteed to increase your rent each year. The first year isn’t too bad, but then the second year it sky rockets so if this is at the top of your budget don’t expect to be living there for much longer than 2 years.

Richard G fixed our broken dish washer quickly and showed me how to prevent problems in the future! Super nice guy.

I have lived here at AVA Pacific Beach for just over a year. The amenities are amazing, the staff are very attentive and helpful for any needs (maintenance, event booking, lease information, etc.) and the people who live here are friendly and welcoming to any new tenants. AVA also loves your pets just as much as you do. It’s no surprise that I, and many other tenants, continually renew our leases. Highly recommend for anyone in the PB area.

Lived here for a bit and I really enjoyed the neighbors as well as the staff! Its close to the beach. Sometimes it can get a bit noisy, but overall I enjoyed my stay. The pool is really big! I like it.

AVA PB is by far the best place I’ve ever lived! I feel like I live in a resort for the cost of a regular apartment and the culture that the staff fosters here is amazing. It makes you want to get outside and make friends in the community regularly. The maintenance staff is also on point with everything we need and anytime I have a problem, Edward is at my door right away to help us out!

One of the things that makes AVA a great place is the friendly, professional maintenance staff. We needed a new dishwasher and Richard G made it happen!! He is quick and efficient making sure the problem is solved correctly. Overall this community is a great place to live and would recommend it!

I love living in the AVA PB! It is pricey, but you get what you pay for and thats wonderful amenities and outstanding service! Maintenance is always friendly and willing to go above and beyond to make sure youre pleased! Special shoutout to Richard for all his hard work! I can not say enough about the people who work for AVA Pacific Beach. They have created an amazing community. We have been living here for 2 years and It has been a wonderful experience. Recently moved across the country and was anxious to find a good place to call home. With the help I received from AVA Pacific Beach (Specifically Mar, one of the leasing managers here) I knew I was in good hands. They were more than accommodating and friendly and helped every step of the way. The community features are amazing here and I personally love the updated gym with on-demand classes. Friendly staff, fun environment, good vibes, 5 stars!

Ava is a happy and comfortable living environment. They enforce rules as necessary to ensure all renters are happy and keep the apartment complex looking clean and up-to-date. The Ava staff have provided us with efficient maintenance as needed and a friendly face to respond to any questions or concerns. My experience living at AVA PB has been very positive. The complex is beautiful and the staff are very helpful, accommodating, and pleasant. Any issues I have experienced here have been handled very professionally and quickly by the staff. During a one week notice to change apartments, Chris and Angie in the office really accommodated our transfer and made it as easy as possible, while Dennis in maintenance was able to get our new apartment ready in just a couple days, and he did a fantastic job. Thanks so much AVA!

Moved here a month ago and we love it so far! The staff is so friendly and helpful, the amenities are great and always clean! Mar and Nikki have been great at answering any questions or communications! Great location, as well. :) would definitely recommend this over any other facility in PB hands down!

I moved to Avalon PB in Feb and have enjoyed it so much! The social aspect and all the amenities helped moving different states so much easier. The gym is amazing, pool/hot tub are always clean, and they always have food trucks that come during the week. Also the main office is awesome. Both Alex and Andrew have been a help to me since Ive moved in. Whether its answering my questions or just asking how the apartment is - they are always friendly and helpful. Also..I once had a problem with my sink and I called the after hours maintenance, and they were there in 20 min. Love it here! Highly recommended :)

Good:- Nice amenities- Excellent location- Very clean- Helpful maintenance staffBad:- Community managers give out rude notices if they dont like the look of your balcony plants. Its not quite the luxury feel I think theyre hoping for.

I have lived at Ava for a little over a year and a half and have had a great experience so far. I cant say enough about the amazing staff. We had an emergency flooding situation at our apartment late at night and Richard came within 15 minutes and fixed our kitchen sink. He came back the next day to follow up as well.

Great place to live. Amenities are amazing! Its not cheap but well worth it! The staff has been incredible. All of the front office staff have taken great care of me when I needed anything. The maintenance staff does an even better. They do a fantastic job... especially Mr. A. Gill. Always has a smile and always working hard. The ladies that clean the gym are super friendly and do a great job as well. Overall I would highly recommend livng here at Ava Pacific Beach.Regards,Chris Smith

This place is awesome! The staff is so friendly and helpful, the amenities are like a luxury resort and the location is perfect. You can move in same day and they will help you in any situation. 2 blocks to the bay and one mile from the ocean ! I would give it 10 stars if I could !

I recently moved in to Avalon Bay in Pacific Beach and have quickly realized it was by far the best option in the area. The value you get for your money when considering the updated units, location, community amenities, and staff is unmatched. The Leasing Manager (Mar) was extremely organized and was essential in a successful move across the country to San Diego. 5 stars.

When I was moving across country to San Diego I found AVA Pacific beach online. The pictures made it look like a resort. The pictures were not lying! I got in touch with Mar and she has been AMAZING from the very beginning. She helped make the process of moving a breeze. Everyone that works for AVA is amazing! Special props to Mar and Andrew however. They are always there with a smile on their face to help out!The property is well kept up with and the maintenance crew rocks! Whenever I put a work order in, the maintenance team completes the project in less than 24 hours!Its a super fun place to live and the staff is amazing!

As far as maintenance goes- huge shout-out to Edward and Richard. My schedule changes all the time, and they called to find a time to come by our apartment and fix the pretty lengthy list of things we needed done. They were incredibly thorough, very nice, and professional. I received a great explanation for everything they did! Probably the best maintenance service Ive gotten from an apartment complex. If you can request specific people (I have no idea if you can or not) I would highly recommend both of them!

Staff is AMAZING and best . A lot of their job seems like being adult babysitting but there is always a few bad apples but they always keep their calm and make it good for everyone else . They get to know tenant on a personal level and when my dog got hurt they checked in and gave me a Petco gift card to get a new toy while recovering they keep the property clean and always have a smile and helping hand . If I had to stay in apartment living Id stay here .Alex and Kira have gone above and beyond many times . I could never do there job dealing with people who dont live here trying to come use the pool ect because they have made AVA PB a real comfy home and its like a extend family with the staff .I wish I could take them with me when I move

My wife and I have lived here for 2.5 years now (moved from NYC), and it has been an unbelievable experience. The amenities are insane, staff is thoughtful, security is on top of everything, and the maintenance crew is excellent and ridiculously friendly (especially Edward, Alex, and Denis). Weve encountered very few (minor) issues at all with the apartment, mostly all respectful neighbors, and in a perfect location. Just cant say enough great things about this place!

Great place to live, lots of things to do in the area. Id like to give a shout out to Edward Orozco, I put in some maintenance requests, and within about 10 minutes he showed up at my door and took care of everything. Great service!

Ive lived at AVA PB for over three years now and I love it. Its safe and clean and very well maintained. Thank you, Zach for helping me with my unconventional maintenance requests and helping make my move to a studio an enjoyable and practical experience!

EDIT 2: After working with Daniel from the Pacific Beach leasing office, I was able to get the deposit deduction reduced to a fair amount. The staff at the local leasing office is genuinely interested in helping residents. The same can not be said about those at the central office. If you have any problems, work through the local office. Also shout out to the maintenance team that is always extremely friendly, fast, and helpful.ORIGINAL: THEY WILL NOT RETURN YOUR DEPOSIT! The move out process has been brutal so far. I enjoyed living there though it is overpriced but this move out process makes me regret it. They came in to do a pre-move out inspection check and told us that they would remove between $250-300 from our deposit. They said no more than $400. 3 weeks later we get an email saying that not only did they take our whole $750 deposit but they want $150 on top of it. They charged us for full carpet replacement but we rented the $50 carpet shampooer from Home Depot every 2-3 month to deep clean. Never spilled anything. No accidents. The carpet was in the same conditions we got it. We called to get pictures of the damage and they said it would take 7-10 business days but that if we didnt pay immediately it would be sent to collection and our credit would be damage. Jasmine from the central recovery office was EXTREMELY rude. It sucks for a built consumer relationship to be ruined like this. I would have definitely considered renting from an AVA location again but not after this.EDIT 1: Daniel at the leasing office so far is being responsive and helpful. Will update is it goes well.

Zack, whom I had never met before, as he explained he was from a different AVALON community, was amazingly professional and mature for being such a young man. He fixed everything in a super-timely fashion, perfectly. He conducted himself with professionalism, yet was open to conversation, as I tend to talk a lot HaHa!Definitely an asset to the AVA PB community! Give this boy a raise!!!!

Massive complex with several great amenities. Pricey, but if affordable for you, can be a great place to live. Only a block or two from the bay! Unfortunately there are brown and black widow spiders all over. For the safety of my pet I needed to move.

Ive lived at Ava for over a year and i think its a great community and a great place to live. it has a youthful, active, modern vibe and lots of newly renovated amenities (pool, hot tub, gym, tennis, basketball). the staff is friendly and attentive. the location is great too; just blocks to the bay and relatively quiet. only suggestion i would make is i wish they provided bike racks in the community. all together i love living here!

Ive been here only a few days and have had several maintenance issues, but the staff has been great -- prompt, helpful, and friendly. Edward even came to the apartment about midnight to deal with a ceiling leak. Im not happy with the pool and hot tub being closed for so long but I realize the work needs to be done. I do like the fact AVA is so dog-friendly.

This place is great!!! Staff is super friendly and very responsive to tenants issues. The place is huge and people do party but its PB, deal with it. The amenities are comparable to a resort. Oh yeah, plenty of eye candy by the pool :)

We recently transferred apartments and only had one week notice. Dennis did a great job getting our apartment move in ready in a day. Everything was clean and fixed up, we were very thankful they worked hard to keep on our schedule.

Ive really been nothing but pleased with the AVA staff and maintenance team since Ive moved in. Its an older apartment complex and there will be occasional issues, but the performance of personnel the few times Ive had questions/issues is really how I rate the quality of life here. The folks who work here are great and their service is top-notch. The renovations have made for constant improvements and extended the life of the property.PB as a whole (and this apartment complex specifically) attracts a younger clientele, so youve got to manage your expectations and expect some loud music or a barking dog every now and then. As an experienced renter who has lived all over, Im happy to call AVA PB home.

I have been living at the Avalon PB location for a few years now, and it is a great place to live. The service from the main leasing office is impeccable, and they are always ready to answer any question with a smile. The maintenance staff is also top-notch, with a fast turn-around on anything that might need looking in to in your unit

Im a new tenant and I must admit that my expectations have been met and have even been exceeded! I feel like Ive found a forever home!Now that Ive been here for 3 months, and have experienced dealing with a few minor maintenance issues, Im even more impressed with the staff at AVA. I feel like they really understand customer service. Very grateful indeed, for everyone on staff, and wish everyone a joyous Thanksgiving!

Awesome amenities, best complex in PB

Living here is two sides of a coin:The Good Side - the pool and hot tub are great and cleaned regularly. Grounds are well kept. Gym is very god quality and had all the equipment necessary, and is cleaned every day. Mail hub is very convenient for those at work all the time. Apartments themselves are nice quality - not perfect but nicer than anything youll find on craigslist! The security service is good also.The Bad Side - on warm weekends the pool area will be packed and at least half the people there wont actually live here, despite the attempts of security to weed them out. There are a lot of spiders so watch out those with pets. Depending on your neighbors things can get very noisy. Also watch out for RENT INCREASES in renewal offers - even if they say they wont do it, they will.

This place has fantastic ammenities and the four staffers in the lobby (Alex, Christina, Christy and Kara) are always willing to help, have a great personality and ensure you are having a great time.

The maintenance staff members are friendly, professional, and helpful, and with over 500 units in the complex, theyre experienced and well-trained. Recently, the door lock on my apartment need to be repaired (after six years). Almost immediately after I called, Yovanni was at my apartment diagnosing and quickly fixing the issue. Another time, when I told him that I planned to install something in my apartment, he volunteered to do it for me.The office staff is great, too. They often work late to ensure that residents receive their packages and always seem willing to go the extra mile to assist us.Ava is almost certainly the only complex in or near Pacific Beach that offers assigned parking spaces, air conditioning, new appliances, fantastic facilities (including a pool, a hot tub, and a large, well-equipped, 24-hour gym), as well as security gates and a courtesy patrol.The apartments have several subtle extras, too. For example, even when running three computers, four large monitors, and other peripherals, Ive never had a problem with devices straining the electrical capacity of the apartment.All apartment complexes have their faults, but Ava provides more than any other complex in the area and the office and service staff actively look for ways to improve the environment.

I have never written a review in my life but I have to say this is the absolute worst place I have ever lived (and I spent 4 years in Florida). They give you a tour that looks great but when you settle in its a different story. I am sure all the good reviews beneath me are people who have just moved in. I felt the same and believe me the excitement of the amenities fades very quickly. When I moved out they charged me over a $500 in damages including things they said I would not be charged for AND after they did a walk through to help me avoid charges . Their estimate was $130 for cleaning and then they billed me over $500. Great place to meet new people but the office staff will do whatever they can to pull $$ out of you. I spent over $18,150 over a year for an apartment the size of a garage and it is the biggest regret of my decision to move to San Diego. However, the maintenance staff is great!

AVA is awesome! Cant say enough good things about this place. The renovated pool and gym set up looks outstanding. The front office staff are very friendly and professional, shout out to Chris for showing me the place.

My roommate and I recently moved into AVA from across the country without seeing it before, risky move, I know. But we needed somewhere that allowed 2 dogs and so far we have been pretty pleased!For the most part, it has been an amazing experience. The pool is gorgeous, the gym has everything you need, and the grounds are maintained meticulously. There are dogs everywhere, people are friendly, and I feel safe and secure living here.The only reason I would not give AVA 5 stars is because of their management (some staff). Passive aggressive and disorganized would be a great way to describe some of them. Although, some members of their staff are extremely friendly and willing to help you out. I would say be wary of who you go to for information/help/getting things done.

My partner and I just moved into Ava and have been astounded by the customer service and amenities. Alex and Mariah are incredibly helpful in working with us to move-in early. The process was streamlined, our apartment was ready when we needed it, and we are excited to enjoy our time here!

I lived at Ava Pacific Beach from April 2016 until March 2020. The first couple years I probably gave the community a 4 star rating, never a 5. I remember moving there and rent was around $1700, I think it was $1670 or so for a one bedroom. When I moved out I was paying over $2000. After the first year the rent increase was crazy, and then every year following it increased little by little. The 3 stars are for staff and the location. It’s noisy, not very secure even though there’s “security” and it’s gated. Thank the residents that prop the doors open or let everyone in because they’re scared to say no for your stolen packages and everything. The walls are thin and your chance of having an inconsiderate neighbor are probably 50/50. Complaining to the office never really did anything for me, Half the time I wouldn’t get an email, and when I did get a response nothing ever changed. I decided to purchase a home and pay off my own mortgage, which is less than paying the rent

I lived here for 3 years and loved it!! The location is perfect, 2 blocks to the bay and an easy run/bike ride to the beach and to shops and bars. There is a new restaurant right next door and coffee shop and café a few blocks away. The large pool and hot tub area is really nice and a great place to meet new people. The studio was the perfect size for me living by myself and not having a lot of stuff. The property has recently been renovated with new floors, kitchens, etc and the gym and club house are brand new. The staff are amazing, very friendly and go above and beyond to help out. I was sad to leave here when I moved to north county for work. Im really surprised to read some of the negative reviews, I had a truly great experience living here.

Awesome amenities and service. Quality of apartments are fair. The showers are way too short and a bit weak in pressure. The gym could use some more machines and free weights. And the pool and jacuzzi should be open 24 hrs. But overall comfortable and fun.

After a major leak in the bathroom, on a Sunday, the staff was prompt, professional, courteous and efficient. You could tell they wanted to help and cared about the impact it was having. Thank you to all the maintenance staff at AVA pacific for your work.

The best place to live in San Diego for you and your furry sidekick! Warm and welcoming staff, I had the pleasure of touring the community with Crystal. She’s shaking up the leasing agent game, clutch knowledge of everything about the community, intricate understanding of the amenities, and even pro tips about the surrounding area! This is literally the place to live in San Diego, it’s in PB, every amenity (pool, hot tub, doggo spa, basketball/tennis courts, grills, gym, rec areas, the list goes on!), can’t wait to get a sweet pad here and live the SoCal dream!

I lived here from March 2018 until late August 2018. I was out here for work and I finished early. The community is interesting in that there is a mix of young and older, it has a bit of a college dorm feel as in a lot of people know each other due to the congregating at the pool, hot tub, and volleyball court. They have a big maintenance/cleaning staff that work hard to keep the place running smoothly and presentable. Every morning, I would see Antoyne Gills coming in as I was going out. We always said hello, and he was always getting the work done. We would always exchange pleasantries when we saw each other. It was nice to know the staff took such care of the place, even if they had to clean up after some of the tenants.

Entering year 3 -- AVA consistently improves both living environment and services. We just signed our third lease, and hope to stay another few years. The leasing staff went above and beyond to retain us as tenants, making our transition to a new apartment in the community smooth and painless. Shoutout to Mar and Angie for their help. Also, I cant say enough good things about the grounds and maintenance staffers. Victor heads up the crew. Thanks Victor. We have never seen the landscaping look better or the in-apartment repairs happen with such a more professional approach and attitude.

Please read this review diligently as my daughter has endured agony from the actions of one man while living here. In over 21 years since I moved to California, I never thought that there would come a time for me to mention this. Unfortunately I was wrong.AVA is a pretty decent place to live, friendly residents and I really like the location in PB. However...I respect peoples privacy so I never mention names in reviews. But because I have empathy towards others, unlike whos name youre about hear, I should talk about one of the leasing staff. I am saying this because you all have a right to know about the place you might to sign a year or so lease to live in.You should know that Christopher Gilman of the leasing office is an absolute disgrace to the Avalon community. I am not going to use any obscene language to describe him, even though Im more than justified to do so. Christopher has made living here one of my worst decisions.When you live here expect him to oppose you in every move you take. He sees you as an enemy, in a sense, even though you pay his wages. I thought his job was to help us out but Christopher clearly doesnt understand that.No need to go into detail what happened on multiple occasions since early 2015 but just know that this man will be a PAIN if you sign the lease here. He maybe looked friendly before I lived here but once I signed that lease I dont know what happened. And Oh, when I ask him to see his manager: he throws the old Im the manager.Mr. Gilman caused all sorts of unnecessary stress to my daughter here. She already has enough stress from med school, and certainly doesnt need anymore from Christopher. Do all you can do to stay away from him for your own good and well being.If you are reading this, then I believe that you care enough about where you decide to call home. Please do your research before making a decision.Please note that Im speaking specifically of Christopher Gilman and in no way does he represent the rest of the staff. I am not saying to be afraid of Christopher; but dealing with him can be a great nuisance so stay away.***In case Christopher is reading this, Id like to say in no way Im trying to offend you and I apologize if I did. I just moved into the AVA in Pacific Beach, and am quite impressed. What first attracted me to moving here was the fact it has awesome amenities, its close to the ocean, and I was in a position where I needed to find my own place fast, which is not easy in PB when summer has not yet ended. I saw online that they had units opening up, so I walked in to check it out. I have to say that my Community Consultant, Mar, was the most outstanding leasing professional Ive ever worked with, and having moved 4 times in just the last two years due to job relocations, and several times before then, I have worked with a few. She knew everything about the complex, down to the smallest details about each unit, and definitely found the best place for me. This was such a relief after having just moved back from Denver. If I could give 11 stars I would, but since this is a google review, and not the Spinal Tap movie, I guess 5 stars will have to suffice. I signed the least that day, due to the fact that everything seemed amazing and Ava also happens to be my nieces name, so this was definitely the chosen one! All the staff Ive met have been great, and I am very happy to be done moving. So thanks Mar and AVA for helping to make a cross-country move less stressful! 23 stars FTW!

I have lived in this gated community for 5 years and dont want to ever move out:-) Anytime Ive had a maintenance issue its next day service. I dont even have that many maintenance issues because everything in my apartment is completely brand new. I want to give a sincere thank you to Rodrigo and Edward with the maintenance team who went over and beyond their job responsibilities to help me get rid of some spiders on my patio. They not only had a professional exterminator come out to spray, they went outside on my patio sprayed and removed webs as I am terrified of spiders. Also, looking forward to the newly renovated 40 person jacuzzi and heated pool. They have a fully lighted university style basketball and tennis courts. Also, they have a do it yourself pet spa and fix your bike station. They even have bikes with baskets that you can rent for free for the first hour and only $2/hr thereafter. Luckily, I won a raffle at AVA and won a $300 beach cruiser which is a must when you only live a few blocks from the beach. Last but not least, my favorite amenity is the all star gym which in my opinion is totally first class! Love the local restaurants that are within walking distance. There is a foodie joint called the Primiscous Fork that has the best gourmet dishes with live entertainment on the weekendsame and the prices are super cheap. Rockys is known for having the best hamburgers in all of San Diego. Crest Liquor store is the best too, the prices are comparable to the local grocery stores with amazing customer service. I cant really say enough good things about living at the AVA Pacific Beach. Its truly a great place to call home.

Wonderful staff, move in was a breeze. Excellent amenities in and out of the apartment. Only downside, no laundry in-unit.

My wife and I lived here for 6 months and we had an issue with bed bugs. The community management staff did not do anything about the bed bugs for THREE WEEKS. It is obvious that they do not care about the tenants and are only concerned about collecting the rent. I would advise staying away from this community AT ALL COSTS.

If it was possible to leave a zero star review, I would. Avalon was a fun place to live...for the first two weeks. After that it just got real old living in essentially a giant dorm. If you could stereotypically sum up Pacific Beach by using an apartment complex as an example, it would be Avalon at Mission Bay.The place looks nice from the outside and from afar but when you get up close the building and its contents look anything but nice. There is lots of wear and tear inside the units, or at least the 10+ units that I visited, that are covered up with some blobs of paint. Like I said, it looks good from afar but if you look closely its easy to see all the marks covering the walls. Also, the windows and sliding glass doors dont seal tight when closed so air easily comes in. This makes it tough to keep your unit warm during the winter or cold during the summer.The secured parking lot gates are anything but secure as they are broken half the time. The gates are either stuck open therefore not being secure at all or being stuck closed and therefore being so secure that the residents cant park in their own designated spots.At any given time, more than half the people at the pool or on the tennis or basketball courts do not reside in Avalon. Its always nice socializing with new people, but its even more nice to be able to play basketball or relax in the jacuzzi without being bombarded by a group of high school kids that live down the street. Avalon justifies their high lease prices with these private and secure amenities but in reality they arent private or secure.The people that work in the office are nice and do their job well. But when it comes down to it, they are sales people so the fact they seem so friendly and caring just means that they are really good at their job. I would be in the office 1-2 times a week and not a single member of the staff remembered my name or even acted like they recognized me from just a few days earlier.The individuals at Avalon Mission Bay that deserve the most credit are the security guards. They have to put up with crap all day from drunk college students and/or intoxicated military individuals. Nobody wants to have to deal with that and I doubt they get paid enough to have to deal with that stuff.Lastly, it is nice to only have to put down a deposit of $500 but if you do move in then you should expect to have to dish out more cash once you move out. Do a simple search online and you will find countless reviews and stories about how bad the Avalon company is as a whole when it comes to security and cleaning deposits.

I lived at ava in building k and Andrew was always super helpful when I went into the office. He goes the extra mile to make it better. I recommend ava for anyone new moving to San Diego!

If you would like to pay exorbitant amounts to live in a frat house, this is your place. The majority of tenants are irresponsible and juvenile (leave dog poop all over the courtyard, shriek at all hours of the night). The leasing office is asking for $1800 for a 400 sq ft space for the upcoming year and I’m disgusted. I moved in out if desperation for a living space and am now desperately seeking to leave ASAP. Btw, they’ll throw out your clothing if you leave it in the shared washer/dryer for too long. I accidentally did this ONCE during my entire year here because I’m a nurse and work nights so I fell asleep...I was not forgiven. What am I paying so much for again? Oh yea, NOT to be respected!

This place is everything I was looking for and then some. I really like the location and the plus of a gated community with street parking available and a $4.75 uber from the beach/bar scene. A little higher on price than avg apartments but makes up for it in amenities with the Gym, pool, hot tub, basketball, volleyball, tennis, game room etc. The staff is friendly and accommodating and its a nice sense of security knowing a guard is always walking around on duty. The people that live here are mostly young and its a great place for someone like me who didnt know a ton of people before moving but looking to make friends. Ava is always putting on events for its residents and really seems to accommodate however possible. Two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻

Great place to live! I’ve always had good service

Been living here 9 months, best community in san diego, class A treatment from the most compassionate and professional staff (all around), the safest, pet friendly atmosphere, and every couple of days/weeks you can expect some free sweets or treats to remind you that the staff is always exercising the creative parts of their brains to show the residents how much they appreciate your stay, no matter how long your stay.

Everything is excellent from the staff when you first walk in, to the living arrangements. Highly recommended!
